  1. Yes, they wold be duplicated, unless you got some specific flaw on the Duplicate power making it otherwise (that is, the Duplicate is at a rank sufficient to buy a another 'you,' but not another 'you + your devices/equipment').
  2. Minor surgery? Well, that must've been one heck of a vacation! Seriously, though, I do wish you a speedy recovery. I know even minor surgeries can be no fun to get through.
  3. My home internet connection is being extremely wonky, cutting out several times a day at random intervals for anywhere form 5 minutes to an hour or more at a time, so I'm not going to be as omnipresent as I'd like until it's fixed. Which, hopefully, will be Thursday. (Of course this happens when my wife and I get a few days off....)
  4. In D&D terms... M&M isn't D&D, and Freedom City's cosmology is entirely different from those of Greyhawk/Oerth, the Forgotten Realms/Toril, or DraonLance/Krynn. The Multiverse of D&D allows Epic Spells to work, but this kind of spell explicitly would not be allowed in FC's cosmology, not without destroying the Earth dimension. To use a D&D analogy, the Lady of Pain bars all deities from entering Sigil, and The Pact does the same to the Earth dimension, except it also bars all supernatural beings not native to the Earth dimension, down to the lowest imps. Which is why they all must rely on being summoned in by mortal (or once-mortal) spellcasters. Which can easily be done by saying that part of his grand ritual was getting a human spellcaster on Earth to open a portal on his side, but -- either because your agents who provided him with the info lied, or because your mega-ritual usurped control of his summonings, or both -- you were able to take control of it and widen it enough for your armies and yourself to go through. But somethign went Horribly Wrong and only a weakened you managed to get through.
  5. Consensus so far seems to be "No." A few Refs have still yet to voice an opinion, though.
  6. A mass of grey-green tentacles arranges itself into a form resembling Benjamin Franklin, and smiles at the newly arrived guest. "Welcome back, Cos! You've been missed!"
  7. Shazam, I think you're supposed to post your own training vignette for Captain Wonder.
  8. That would mean he had been more powerful & skilled in arcane lore than any other supernatural being, including the Greek and Norse gods and the Voudoun loa ("Voodoo gods").
  9. Don't worry folks, we are working on calculating the monthly pp awards, we're just a little behind since some of the Refs are consumed by hectic work schedules, illnesses, or (well-earned) vacations. Please be patient. As always, once the PMs are sent, if you have questions or problems, post in this thread or PM Heridfel.
  10. Oh, and there is one bit of background that needs tweaking: as detailed in Book of Magic, The Pact is such that any being trying to break the barriers between worlds and force its way in will cause such power to be released that it would destroy the universe (and so rob them of any prize they might seek). Beings can only come in when invited, so someone on this side will need to summon him. Like Hades did when he invaded in the 60s ;)
  11. So he's not completely hosed when in a situation where he can't use his Magic (and Super-Strength 15), such as when gagged, silenced, or otherwise unable to speak? And because it's a tad hard to believe a being who's conquered a third of the Abyss (I'm sure he did some conquering and didn't inherit it all or acquire it through bloodless negotiations ) is so unskilled in ranged combat that it cannot pick up a rock, throw it, and hope to reliably hit anything smaller or more mobile than an elephant. None of the Archetypes presented in the M&M Core book or Instant Superheroes, nor any of the characters from any of the official M&M/FC books, have zero BAB (including ones like Mentalists who have nothing but Perception-range powers, or Powerhouses who only have melee attacks). They all have some level of general all-inclusive combat training, and so would someone who "ruled a third of the infinite planes of the Abyss."
  12. Here's a link to the (.pdf) Freedom City Encyclopedia, also hosted on the M&M site. http://64.17.155.164/2e_files/FC-encyclopedia.pdf It's useful! Especially for the folks who keep saying "I don't know who that is" in the "Choose Your Favorite Freedom [or Crime] Leaguer" games ;)
  13. So, my first order of business is to move the whole site to Geocities, then change the rules and setting to that of Champions/the HERO System (so everyone'll have to remake their character). Then, we'll.... What's everyone got those torches and pitchforks for? :flash: In all :bat: seriousness, I have no real plans to change anything, and to keep it as fun and zany as it's always been here -- folks seem to like it, and I see no reason to fix what ain't broke. The Refs will still be meeting in the Ref-Cave, quietly plotting the doom of everyone else. But it'll be an entertaining doom
  14. Behold the terrible Demon Who Throws Like A Girl! (I've never liked seeing builds where less than half the attack bonus come from actual Base Attack Bonus.) Skills should be listed as "Name rank (modifier)". So "Sense Motive 10 (+12)", for example. His arms are permanently 10 feet long? And he's only 6'6"? Or is it just the Additional Limbs that are 10 feet long? If so, the Elongation should be Continuous, same as the Additional Limbs. I'm not sure about "Physical Scores only" being a Flaw for Drain. A character with the reverse -- Boost Physical Ability Scores -- is in Instant Superheroes, but "physical only" isn't listed as a Flaw, it's just part of the descriptor.
  15. Barnum, like I said in the Secret Ref Cave, you are definitely going to be missed. If I can get the technical side of things running half as smoothly as you did, I'll consider myself blessed. I truly wish all the best for you.
  16. After [censoring] a lot of [censored] to [censored], and [censoring] that [censored] can and will [censored], I'm now the (visible co-)Administrator* of the site. * I say "visible and co-" because Endless Flight still remains a mostly-invisible, behind-the-scenes co-Admin. In a way, he's IT, I'm PR.
  17. Animate Thread! This map's too useful to let slip away!
  18. MBCE? MarkK? Heritage? Anything to add?
  19. A more descriptive... well, description of what you're hoping to build/model would be helpful ;)
  20. "Elevators? Going topside already?" he asked, moving along as prodded. "Why tip your hand so soon? Cut zhe alarms und communications qvickly enough, no one outside vill know vhat has transpired here, und you und your brothers can fortify this place quite nicely."
  21. We could have a Ref from each side do the other (keeps things fair/honest). So I could Ref the Ghost/Whisper side of things, and Heritage or MBCE can handle the Capricia/Belphegor side. Or we could call Heridfel, MarkK, or Veiled Malice in to Ref the whole thing ;)
  22. Damn, Jos thought, and I was hoping I'd get to be the one to make the grand entrance. Well, if I can't be first, I can at least go one better... Jos concentrated... Change! Change, O mortal form! Release the might from fleshy mire! Boil the blood in heart of fire! Gone! Gone! -- the mortal form -- Rise, the Demon Belphegor!! One of the thugs -- the shades-wearing wiry one in the UWL tee shirt -- steps forward and suddenly begins to glow as if lit from within, and growing nearly half a foot in height and double that in girth. His skin takes on a dark red color and visibly hardens into scales, with bone spurs sprouting from the elbows, knees, and ankles, and talons replacing his finger-and toenails. Short curving horns burst from his head, his face elongates into a fanged muzzle beneath orange reptilian eyes, great batlike wings erupt form his back, and a long heavy tail lashes out behind him. (Though the change shredded his clothes, scarlet trunks mercifully materialized to afford him some decency.) It lets out a deep roar, then says, in a growling but resonant bass voice, "The mistress said, GET DOWN!"
