  1. Rot The course becoming more technical now, Consuelo focuses all of her attention on staying on the track - the increasingly elevated track - leaving thoughts of disintegrating her opponents for another time. Zig. Zag. Drift. Draft. Brake. Accelerate. Holy Smokes! We're at the jump already! "Aaaaah-a-wahooooo!" Consuelo zips by Widowmaker, who appears to be having a disagreement with the sidewall, just as she hits the jump. She clears, barely. Widowmaker falls just a little short, screaming and bouncing off architecture on their terrifying, accelerating return trip to the ground. Hmm. Widowmaker. I wonder if they were married?
  2. As Ruin evades Multi-Girl, her eyes come off Rot long enough for her to spring up and tackle her. She gets on top of her alter, and for a moment, it looks like she's going to be able to hold her down. But then the purple-haired villain gives a kick and a growl. She breaks free and the two Consuelo's are both up, glaring at each other. In the hallway, the green-skinned woman's phone call connects. "Director, yes, no, LISTEN! I'm in the basement. There's a dangerous metahuman down here going wild. They're disintegrating concrete walls. Trying to hurt people. We need the Freedom League." She hangs up her phone and looks at Bernadette's double. "Where she came from? What do you mean?"
  3. Thanks for pointing out the house rules! So, Ruin will try to escape, rolling 12. Rot tries to hang on, with a 7. So, Rot pins Ruin, but then she breaks free. I'll post on the staff's phone call and the girls' wrasslin' and then it will be Bernadette's turn.
  4. Hmm. I think maybe I can answer my own questions. Maybe, "your Grapple check" only refers to a Grapple check you make on your standard action, not the grapple check you make in the contest when someone else initiates. Strange language, but I think I get it now.
  5. So, what does the sentence from the rule book: "If you use a power requiring a standard action, you forfeit your grapple check that round" Even mean in that case?
  6. No worries. So, Ruin can take an action, but she is immobilized. So, if she wants to move, she would have to win a Grapple check to move. Can she take standard actions besides making a Grapple check? Or does being pinned prevent that?
  7. You mean ruin's?
  8. Well, it didn't work last time, but Rot is going to try to grapple again, since she failed her Bluff contest and Ruin is immune to her powers . . . Her first grab roll is truly abysmal, 4, but she will spend her hero point to try again: 18 will actually hit. Now, for the duel of terrible Grapple bonuses. Rot actually manages to pull out a 17. Ruin counters with a truly pathetic 3. To me the grappling rules aren't written in the 100% most clear way they could have been. . . . I don't see an explicit statement that Ruin opposing the Grapple check uses her standard action. But, I do see this statement, which kind of seems to imply it: "If you use a power requiring a standard action, you forfeit your grapple check that round" So, does this Grapple contest consume Ruin's standard action as well?
  9. Rot "Hey, Rosalind, what's happening?" Consuelo was pumped to see her. She was always just . . . so nice all the time. Overhearing Michael's question about Bernadette just having one of her doubles sleep for her, she chimes in wickedly: "Well I don't know about sleeping, but I do know that Bernie has to go pee all on her own! Ha ha ha ha!" For some reason, she thinks that's really funny. "Oh, jeez, okay. I was thinking about maybe flying over this teensy island just a little bit and then go take Zuki up on her swimming lesson offer. Anyone else wanna come along? Maybe we'll see Carmen, like, eating a feral pigeon."
  10. Rot Cosuelo looks upward, spreads her arms, and calls out: "Thanks, Boomy Voice Guy! I was really starting to wonder how we were gonna explain this trashed aquarium and the four knocked out, normal-looking girls to the cops. So, yeah, you da best!" Consuelo shrugs to her classmates. "Pays to be appreciative, I figure. So that went . . . . the way it did, I guess . . . . Sure kicked their butts. Looks like we're all fighters." I'm kinda thinking we only really needed to deal with that Ashley chick . . . Until Carmen went off. Better let her enjoy the victory for a bit before bringing that up with her, though . . . .
  11. Right on. Keeping the same rolls, but reverting the mods, the roll to stay on increases to 23, first roll to clear the gap increases to 21 (so that saves a reroll hero point), the speed roll increases to 15.
  12. Alright. Using updated Rot sheet, has a lower Reflex save, but better flight. Up the winding path, roll a 17. So doesn't fall off. Across the gap, roll a 17 at first, use hero point to reroll and get 30. Aha. You said we need two Reflex rolls for going up the path. Second one for speed: 9 So not so fast. Hmm. With having to make a power check for anything, I though area effects were off the table in this format, but I see Lawrence just used one. Many opportunities missed for Rot to target multiple opponents. Oh well.
  13. Rot Consuelo continues to concentrate, eyes closed, sweat dripping off her brow. Shadows still swirl around the spot where the gum used to be stuck on the side of the heavy bag. Her jaw clenches, and a low growl begins in her throat. It gets louder with each breath until she's moaning like, well, like a woman in labor. Opening her mouth and her eyes at the same time, she lets out a roar, staring unflinchingly at the swirl of shadow. It's not much, but the faint image of a wad of gum starts to suggest itself on the heavy bag. It gains opacity until there can be no doubt: Consuelo's chewing gum is back. It's even still bright green. Unclenching and straightening from her position, she reaches out, plucks it from the side of the bag, pops it in her mouth, and gives it a chew. "Hmm. Tastes fine." She gives it a few more chews, just to be sure. "See, Lawrence? I told you I needed to learn your trick!"
  14. Combat is over. Carmen could chase after the kids, take a closer look at the mysterious object, check out the guy she just bodied, inspect the door he came from, or anything, really.
  15. Rot: (36 IC player posts) + (13 GM posts x 2) = 62 Posts = 4 PP Aquarium Excursion (3) Blanket of Stars (4) Bolt from the Blue (3) Dragon's Hoard (2) Family Matters (GM) (4) IC (0) Laws of Repulsion (2) My Evil Twin (GM) (7) IC (0) Never Was (7) Night Shift (GM) (2) IC (0) Quirk Kart (4) Sound of an Eclipse (3) Students Squared (2) The Study Group (1) Tropical Getaway (4) Topical Getaway: Red (2)
  16. Rot "Huh," Consuelo responds to Lawrence's revelations. "I guess I'm from the past, technically. Well, I guess everyone is from the past, actually . . . " She scrunches up her brows and scratches her head. "Hey! I've got an idea! Could the girl that popped up in my room have bypassed the defenses because she was coming from, uh, within the defenses? Like, I think she was maybe a Claremont student from a few years back - Eira or something? I think she's also a robot-lady superhero that dates, uh . . . Santa's elves . . . in the future, which is now . . . . " Consuelo trails off, becoming less sure that anything she is saying makes any sense.
  17. Rot "Alright, I've seen enough of these shenanigans! Time to shut it down before a dolphin gets hurt!" Surveying the melee around her, Consuelo deepens her breathing and starts to slowly move her body in what pretty much looks like tai chi. A thick shadowy tendril billows out of her and starts seeking throughout the room, under her guidance. Like a serpent it twists and turns to envelope the remaining Starblights. Nimble Scorpion manages to leap away, but Orion and Draco are caught by the hungry darkness.
  18. Rot will take a full turn Action to use her Scour power, using extra effort to boost it up to rank 10, and a hero point to recover. That will give her 50 contiguous 5 foot cubes to play with to try to get all three villains in the area of effect. I'm picturing a swirling, snaking river of darkness spiraling around the room avoiding allies and targeting enemies. This power leaves her flat footed. So, everyone affected would have a DC 20 Reflex save for half effect, then a rank 10 Toughness Drain and a rank 10 Damage effect.
  19. Yup, Multi-Girl misses Ruin. The staff person is focusing on completing her phone call rather than fleeing the scene. Must be a regeneration thing. She is around the corner, out of sight, behind a concrete wall from the scuffle at the moment. If duplicate wants her to move further, she'll have to try a more forceful approach. Have you decided how much awareness the different multiples of Multi-Girl share? Do they see what each other sees, know what each other knows?
  20. Rot "Yeah, the safety of civilians. . . . Yeah, dangerous auras . . . . " Consuelo gets a far away look in her eyes. "Okay. I'm doing this!" Apparently, "doing this" begins with Consuelo plucking her chewing gum out of her mouth. (Bright green, of course.) She sticks the wad on the side of the heavy bag and adopts a lotus position, floating about two feet in the air. She closes her eyes and steadies her breathing. Black distortions form around the wad of chewing gum, and, within a moment, it disappears. Unlike what usually happens when Consuelo disintegrates something, this time that black distortions linger and continue to swirl around long after the gum is gone. Her breathing becomes heavy, and a drip of sweat trickles down on her brow. But still she hovers there, eyes closed, concentrating on something. And the dark shadows continue to swirl and warp where the gum used to be.
  21. Rot Draco winds up to strike back at Consuelo. Hmm. This might sting. But then Parker does his come-up-from-the-floor thing between the two of them. Uh oh. Last time, Parker didn't do too great with those blasts. . . . But this time he braces himself and takes it well, even managing to say something tough-sounding before it hits. Yeah, okay . . . maybe if we keep pouring it on we can knock the heart out of her. "Is that all you got? Yeah, I thought so." Dark distortions build around Rot, and something else. The creep factor she used to give off all the time comes back as bad as ever. Standing as close as they are, both Ashley and Parker can feel malice and corruption coming off her in waves. "Oh, I'll show you exactly the kind of monster I am." She steps around Parker and chambers her arms to move forward and hit Sentry Draco with both hands. Yeah, I'm lined up perfect! I'm totally gonna nail her! But, just as Consuelo moves to strike, this huge blonde girl in a pink outfit steps in the way, taking the hit. Rot’s power shreds at Taurus's outfit and bruises and burns blossom over her skin, and she gets a vacant look on her face. "Aw, for crying out loud, Zoë! You're blocking for her? You and I both know you don't deserve that kind of loyalty, Ashley. Would people stop getting in the way, so I can just kick her butt? Please?"
  22. Rot "Really?" Consuelo responded to Mizuki's offer of swimming lessons. "That would be totally cool! Just give me like, twenty minutes to bask in the sun up here and warm up first. Oh hey, Vueriz - glad you could make it! Isn't this great? Is sun bathing popular on Planet Zir . . . uh, Zirconium?"
  23. Rot As Quirk trots out the three hapless villains the principal had trotted out in the training exercise, Consuelo can't help but feel a little sorry for them, doomed as they are to be repeatedly beaten down by aspiring young heroes, even though they weren't real. Is that why they call it the Doom Room? It's like that legend about the old Greek guy pushing the rock up the hill. What was his name? Syphilis? Consuelo manages to reel herself back into the present. Well, I took out Widowmaker and Incendiary last time. Blur is probably . . . fast. Better zap that guy. "Hey, has-been!" Rot calls out to her simulated opponent. "Eat my dust!" Lashing out with one hand, dark shadowy swirls dance around the bottom of Blur's kart. A moment later, that kart doesn't have wheels anymore, which quickly slows it down. "Ha ha! Sucker!" Rot smashes the A button and zips ahead.
  24. Rot "Oh, okay . . . " Consuelo seems pretty bummed that she isn't going to learn to swim today. But then she perks up. "Well, I guess I can pretty much just fly through the water anyway. I might come down to the beach in a little bit, but first, I'm just gonna, like, enjoy being actually warm for a minute. The sun feels so good!" Consuelo stretches her arms out to maximize her exposure and turns her face up, closing her eyes. "Yeah, that's the thing. Someone remind me why we live in New Jersey again? I can't seem to figure it out, like, just at this moment." She spins in a slow circle and lets out a sigh. "Yeah, you guys go ahead. I think I'm gonna chill with Bernie up here by the house for a little while."
