  1. "Boss Lady basically never talks about how she was in her childhood. I'd say ask Boss Man but maybe we should let Boss Lady, the older one, do the talking first." There was an undercurrent of genuine concern in that statement. Duncan Summers was healthy, but it was in the sense of "healthy for his age", and at this point one might be concerned for his heart. "Hn. Doesn't seem like a clone or android situation. Let's get down to the Rookery, I think we still have that tachyon scanner hooked up after the thing with the Shroud." Wait what shro- "Anyways. Ashley, Charlie, let's help bring our new guest downstairs. I think the stairs got renovated since she was here last." He he spoke, Alek moved up next to Charlie and clapped a hand on his shoulder. That hand definitely didn't tighten slightly on said shoulder at Charlie's blatant flirting with what appeared to be a young, time-traveling version of Alek's mentor. That was absolutely not what happened. "We can run some scans and at least try to rule out what didn't happen, then figure out what did happen." With that, the current Raven began to guide the group to a room off the hallways, one that Young Callie likely knew as just an empty storage space, but now apparently had an entrance to a stairwell that led to the much-less-public section of the Summers Manor grounds. It was clear that between her "present" and this future, some renovations would be made...

  4. As they stood there trying to decide what to do, Alek sighed. "Right, hang on. There's someone else who needs to be caught up to speed here." He reached down and pulled out his phone, firing off a quick text to a young man who was downstairs in the Rookery. --Charlie, could you come upstairs please? There's a situation you need briefed on.-- He spoke over his shoulder to Ashley. "You remember Charlie, right Ashley? Figure he should be looped in."
  5. Micah audibly snarled when the fake-Leroy called his father a coward. The whole room vibrated once, twice, with barely-contained thunder, and his wings flared wide, shining so brightly they started to look white. He clenched his hands, and jagged shards of green lighting were grasped in his fists; they hissed and snapped and writhed like snakes. His left arm raised, as if to throw the bolt. And then he stopped. Somehow, above the crackling of his powers and the roaring of his blood in his ears, Micah heard the words that Kam spoke, and the insights Robin had into how this program operated. His arm paused, and dropped to his side. The snakes of lightning faded, though his wings and the glow in his eyes did not. Micah stood there, a circle of space around him as other students continued to give him space. His fists clenched and unclenched. Finally, he raised his right hand and pointed his index finger at the holo-Sun-Dragon. "The only reason you aren't fried already is because my father was nothing like what you just spat out. He taught me to be better than that. Better than you."
  6. There was a sudden peal of thunder, near-deafening in the bare expanse of the Doom Room. It came from everywhere, and nowhere in particular. At the same time, the air in the room stirred and began to move in a circle that encompassed the whole space. It wasn't much, enough to shift hair and dresses a bit, but not enough to really mess anyone's "look" up. For a moment, there was likely confusion. Then a lot of eyes were likely drawn to the figure of Micah Roebuck, still decked out head-to-toe in a white cowboy suit complete with hat and long coat, a coat now all but whipping about in a breeze that seemed to affect only the young weather controller. His eyes were solid, glowing pools of emerald light, with crackles of lightning curling off at the edges, and wings of St. Elmo's Fire wrapped in snapping bones of green lightning shifting behind him, no longer hazy things but clearly defined as his powers were fully manifested. He curled fists that glowed with that same terrible color and took three steps toward the false Sun Dragon. When he spoke, he all but snarled, and faint rumbles accompanied his words. "You ruined our evening. You trapped my friend and his date. You hurt people. And you say it's because you want to test the future champions of the world?" He took a single further step forward, staring at the...he wasn't even sure what it was. "Give me one reason I shouldn't pump enough volts into you that everyone here is gonna need sunglasses. I am done with this-" And then he gave anyone else in the room who could speak Cherokee a few choice words to use in the future. Micah stood and waited, his patience clearly razor-thin by this point, his suit giving a pale reflection of the eerie colors his wings put off, looking like some sort of avenging storm-angel of old....
  7. Micah frowned in worry and went to catch Davyd as he partially collapsed. "This isn't Pan or Eira. They don't hurt people with their pranks, just razz them. Come on, let's link up with the others." He started to guide Davyd to Astrid, Judy, Robin, and Kam, and any others near them, when he heard Casanova's near-shouted declaration. In the echoing silence of the room, with no music, it may as well have been shouted. Micah glanced at Davyd, then back at the developing scene. He let go of the shape-shifting teen and spoke quietly to him. "Take your time, Davyd. I have something I need to take care of. We don't have time for bullies." He straightened up and marched over to where the accusations were being thrown, only stopping when he was standing directly between Casanova and Robin. His eyes glowed solid green as he spoke, his volume raised and his tone more even than the sudden, sourceless rumbles of thunder everyone heard. "You need to shut up . You're not helping anything. She's been enjoying the party, and didn't do anything wrong. Whoever's doing this isn't a student. So unless you can contribute to getting us out of here, sit down and shut your mouth." Any mind-reader who dared reach out for Micah's thoughts right now would detect two primary things; a roiling, barely-leashed thunderstorm, and the image of a stern older man in some kind of uniform, giving...not quite a lecture, but certainly some kind of talking-to. That latter image was what Micah was drawing on for himself right now.

  9. Micah looked over at the librarian, and though rage was still present in his eyes, the glow faded. "I apologize ma'am but there's a...an emotion controller, a parasite, here. She, it, almost got me." His head all but whipped toward the student who had spoken, his eyes narrowed a bit. Then he gave the young man a sharp nod. "Right." And he was dashing out the door, slowly enough to not disturb books but still just a bit faster than normal...
  10. Just a couple of minute after Felix and Alice left the library, the doors all but slammed open, and Micah Roebuck stalked in, his eyes glowing green with barely-leashed power. He cast his gaze back and forth over the scene, clearly looking for something, even as the sky overhead was dark and grim. "Where is she?" Make that looking for someone. "Where's Alice? I know she came through here! I can feel it!"
  11. "Seems like the bow-users like to talk more than some of us." Raven's cowl completely hid his eyes, and his sight seemed fixed on the scene in the alleyway. But Foreshadow knew, even without his powers, that he was getting just a bit of side-eye at that comment. "You noticed that the kid's bow looks a lot heftier than pictures of predecessors? Need to ask him if he's punching with it. Nothing wrong with that, just kind of curious." He chewed thoughtfully for a moment as he finished off his hot dog. "The arrows are kind of nice for lots of options to toss off at folks. My armor's modular systems are nice, but there is certainly some appeal for deciding that someone 15 feet away really needs a few volts to sit down ad behave. Can't pack the same punch into hand-thrown projectiles and have any range at all." He glanced down at his gloves as he flexed them. "Though taser-punches are really satisfying."
  12. Micah's eyes went a bit wide as Judy showed up out of nowhere, distraught over Leroy leaving suddenly. He glanced at Astrid, giving her a "please help" look. Then he heard the resounding sound of something hitting the walls, and he looked around for someone more in authority to speak to. "Where did the adults go? There...there should be someone here. This isn't right." In moments of crisis, people tend to lead, follow, or panic. Occasionally, someone who had, in the past, mostly led, found it in themselves to step up. As Astrid and Judy watched, Micah's face morphed into a calm expression, and he stood just a bit straighter. When he spoke, his voice had deepened just slightly, and there was a slight green glow to his eyes. "Astrid. Go talk to the DJ, we need the music off. Something is wrong, and as fun as the party was, this isn't a party." He glanced at where the entrance to the prom should have been, which was also blank wall. His volume dropped for the next sentence. "This looks an awful lot like a prison now." His volume picked up again. "Once the music's off, try to get on the PA and get everyone to quiet down, then get anyone with super-strength or teleportation to come to where I will be. Judy, can you find as many team leaders as possible, any Seniors, anyone who's already in a leadership position who's still in here, and get them over by the stage to help organize people. I'm going to the front door, see what's going on." If the girls didn't object to his plan, he moved over to where Davyd stood next to what was now blank wall. Micah's face was stern, and there was a slight smell of ozone about him. "Davyd, what happened? We're not supposed to be closed in here, are we?" His tone was inquisitive but not accusatory; Micah's posture suggested he considered Davyd a victim, not an instigator here.
  13. Micah blinked at Danica's....well, mood? It was even more bubly than usual for the turtle girl. "We're coming here as friends. We just want to enjoy the party. No expectations, jokes, or irony." His eyes roamed the prom as Astrid and Danica continued to chat. Then they stopped as one section of the wall almost flowed over what had been a bathroom door, and trapped the young man who was likely his best friend on the planet, and the girl he not-really-ironically liked inside. His grip on Astrid's hand tightened slightly, just as Danica turned to Elizabeth. Micah fought to keep his face calm as he leaned over toward the Nordic girl accompanying him and spoke softly out of the side of his mouth. "Try to stay calm, but something is going on. The wall just closed the bathroom Eira and Pan are in, and something tells me it wasn't their fault."
  14. "Thanks, Danica. It'll be easier than me trying to carry you in a tornado, trust me." He gave an awkward wave to the archaeologists present, then picked up Danica's now-shrunken shell and took to the sky. It was just a minute or two later when he came in for a landing, making sure to stay well back from the others, so as to avoid the time/dimension portal. He set Danica's shell down, waited a moment, then hesitantly knocked on it. "Uh, we're here Danica! We need to be careful, there's some weird kind of portal up ahead. The magician-types are figuring that out. Sounds like this might all be connected?" He kept his gaze on the terrain around them. He didn't like being in the open, yet with so much potential cover for someone, or something, to hide behind, nearby. At least in Oklahoma, flat was flat.
  15. Before Astrid could weigh in for certain on whom to speak to, Micah turned and noticed Danica moving closer. He nudged astrid with a smile. "Okay, she's happy enough for the whole party, we have to go say hi." He guided them over, showing a surprising amount of "take charge" attitude for himself. Perhaps the bold outfit he was wearing gave him a bit more courage. When they reached Danica, he smiled and tipped his hat to her. "Well hello there, Danica! Fancy meetin' you here. Looks like you're havin' some fun."
  16. Micah nodded as Astrid decided on socialization. As crowded as these things were, the flip side was it meant you could get a passably private conversation going on. "That's fine. We can take it easy on the dancing, I'm not great myself. Let's go say hi to-" His eyes took in Pan dancing with someone who was not Eira, and then moved to Eira standing by herself. Micah was not an expert on human interactions, but he knew enough to get a pretty good idea this was not going to go well. He scanned the crowd for friendlier, less complicated faces. "We could swing by and say 'hey' to Kam and his lady friend?" There was uncertainty in his voice about that option.
  17. Micah went ahead and blushed. Then he stood up a bit straighter and smiled a bit wider. "Well ma'am I reckon it's just part of my old-time country ways. Let us be off!" He gave Adam a smile, a nod, and a thumbs-up as he and Astrid made their way to the prom area. As she spoke a bit more softly and earnestly, he reddened again a bit, but smiled and laughed at her "punch", rubbing the spot as if actually hurt. "My dear lady this kind of abuse makes me question my decision! Still, I figured you'd like the idea. Gals like Earhart and all seem right up your alley, and you seemed like a bit more of a 'pants' girl than some. And if they're gonna let us wear 'period costumes', might as well lean into it! Plus, this way, we have layers. If it gets warm in there with a bunch of folks movin' around, we just put the jackets aside." Micah smiled at Davyd and handed him the pair of tickets for himself and Astrid, then tipped his hat at the shape-shifter. "Reckon we feel mighty safe with you guarding the door, partner." And then Eira and Pan were confronted by a rather unpleasant classmate. Astrid felt Micah's grip tighten just a bit, and his face went blank, with a hard glint in his eyes. No weather manifested inside but it was likely a near thing. The moment passed, and once the musical young couple was inside, Micah seemed to lose some of that tension. He glanced around, then back to Astrid. "Lady's choice for what we do first. Dance, socialize, or sate our hunger and thirst?"
  18. "Let me know once you've got it up and running, we'll throw some money at it. Hate to see legit vets get tossed into the meat grinder like this." He watched Archer work, and nodded at a few creative moves the slightly-younger hero pulled. "Hn. Meta-trafficking." Foreshadow knew there was history just from the way Raven said that, but the other cowl-wearing hero wasn't forthcoming for the moment. "Might be, might not. Situations like that make folks nervous. Nervous breeds bad ideas. 'Need my own army' bad, sometimes." He chuckled at Archer's comment to the fleeing mercenary. "They almost always run."
  19. Micah blushed deeply and shrugged when Astrid complimented him. "You pull your look off better. Um. That is. You look great." He cleared his throat and glanced at Pan being almost bamboozled by Eira, then back to Astrid. His face settled into a slightly more mischievous, and comfortable, grin. "Yes, well. If we're all dressed fancy, we might as well use it, yeah?" He offered Astrid his arm, and waved toward the others. "I think It's time for us to make an entrance?"
  20. "This is actually my first prom attending personally, but my cousin assures me they're typically not nearly as exciting as the movies and TV shows make them out to be. Just a fancy party. All the ones at my old schools were the same." Micah shifted a bit, still trying to give off a "relaxed" vibe as he leaned against the wall. His current state of dress was not quite as stereotypical for the party's theme as the other young men there, but he'd repeatedly assured them his style was entirely in keeping with the time period. He took his hat off for a moment to run a hand through his hair, then replaced it. "We could always do group breathing exercises." He unconsciously shifted his outer coat a bit. The layered look of the mostly-white suit, coat, and so on was good, but standing still it was a bit warm. Once they were in the prom itself, he'd likely shed the longer coat at least. After pictures; while he and Astrid weren't treating this as "true love's dance" or the like, they'd gone through the trouble of making these plans. His mother would never let him hear the end of it if he didn't get some pictures. He glanced at his roommate, and smirked just a bit. "Might wanna take your own advice about winding down there, Pan. You're lookin' a mite nervous yourself." He wondered what the others thought; he and Astrid had been trying to keep their not-quite-last-minute "date" a surprise. So far as Pan and Adam knew, Micah was going by himself. They'd discussed things and decided they'd meet at the prom itself, perhaps at the entrance or near it. 'Wait shoot Lulu can probably hear me! Lulu don't ruin the surprise please!'
  21. Thunderbird had backed up a couple of steps as Heroditus and Veronica kept staring in front of them. He glanced around for a moment, then shrugged. "So backwards is fine?" He got an absent-minded nod from the magically-inclined members of the team, and smiled. "Be back in a thunderclap!" He was airborne before anyone could say anything. It took him only a couple of minutes to blur in for a landing near Chelone, kicking up only a little bit of dust. He stood and brushed off his pants, and gave everyone present an apologetic smile. He looked at the tortoise avatar. "So, uh, looks like I'm your taxi. You can still do the thing where you shrink down inside the shell, right?"
  22. "I'm just going to shove that part of this conversation in the farthest recesses of my memory and never recall it again." His face was completely flat when he said that, but maybe it was a joke. Either way, Alek relaxed and took his hand off the hilt of the sword. "Okay, so you're who you say you are. Situation sounds like time travel. I'm guessing you aren't able to go back?" He looked at Ashley. "Who do we know that's a time traveler? Not trying to kick her out but this is a huge risk." He glanced at Callie again, his eyes betraying how unnerved he was. "Seriously considering asking you to help me pick out alcohol."
  23. "You're acting like I dissed his dogs, 'shadow. I told you, they're good. I'm just not a huge hot dog guy. Gimme a burger or some schwarma or a wrap. But. Good dog." Raven took a bite and gave it slow, measured chews. He swallowed, then spoke again. "There some kind of site for guys like this? Must have missed it last time I patrolled the Dark Web. Feel like this keeps happening. Isn't that what guys like us do? Make foundations for stuff?" He tilted his head a bit to track the latest barrage from the legacy arrow-slinger. "Interesting angle of attack. "
