  1. Did that Dex check take my next roll?
  2. Nope. You can watch the detective or watch the house, you don't get to have your cake and eat it.
  3. Let's go with Chrome, he'd actually want to help.
  4. The detective tapped at his phone and glanced at something on it, then shrugged and stuffed the device in his pocket. "Guy couldn't barely write anyhow. Tremors, apparently, going by the couple of handwritten notes in his office." He walked over to the car and leaned on the hood, pulling a notebook from his jacket and flipping through it. "So, you're the professional from Boston, right? How did you know the deceased? Do you know anything about why he wanted you down here? Do you have a background in geology?" The detective's face was carefully neutral, but if Samantha was going to watch his reactions to her answers she wouldn't be able to watch the cops swarming around Campbell's house.
  5. I could drop either Blue Jay or Chrome in here. Chrome needs some tech horror to go along with his love of his own body, and Empress Terrifica trying to poke at his nanites and get him on an exam table would be a cool/weird/properly uncomfortable contrast to his own lack of body shame. Blue Jay would be fun because obviously she'd hate being in the middle of a techno-centric paradise, and she hates being outmaneuvered so she'd loath Empress Terrifica.
  6. The too-young officer kept his professional, imperturbable facade up. "I'm sorry ma'am, but I can't let you in the perimeter. Unless you're related to Mister Campbell --" "Hold that thought." The man in the turtleneck had walked up to the line with great, space-eating strides and was now talking to Samantha while the phone was still up to his ear. "You're down from Boston? Appointment with the deceased? You're Samantha Cline? Mz. Cline, if you have some time I'd like to ask you a few questions." He looked around and pointed at an unremarkable sedan parked at the side of the road; with a closer look Samantha could see the light bar recessed into the front and rear console. "I won't keep you long."
  7. The police line stopped Samantha cold. A too-young man in a crisp uniform held up his hand. "Sorry, miss. This is a murder scene. Unless you know Arthur Campbell, I'm afraid you're going to have to tun around." Behind him there was an older man in a sport coat and a turtleneck, talking into a smartphone. "What to the blood? What happened? How do you expect me to put that down on a report! Crystal blood is really what you plan to put on your report? You're going to get laughed out the department if you try something like that."
  8. The appointment is for Dr. Samantha Carson.
  9. The team broke to their different jobs. Chrome sneaked around to the side (as much as a human wrapped in reflective metal could sneak) and paused near the fire exit, focusing on keeping his breathing steady and even. He was about to try something very dangerous, but not very dangerous to him -- he was about to try and provoke two robots holding people hostage. He was going to make hostage-takers angry, and if he was wrong or Warp was slow or the robbers were smart people were going to die. He focused on his breathing to keep himself from going crazy over the stress, and only just realized they hadn't decided on a signal or timing or anything. If he missed his cue -- There was the sudden sound of rapid-fie gunshots from inside the bank and Chrome startled forward, claws suddenly appearing on his hands and slashing the fire exit open. He spotted the tall robot with the submachine gun firing out at Hammer, and as he paused at the threshold he met the eyes of the short robot. The shorter bank robber started firing his two pistols and Chrome was driven back, waving his arms frantically through the air to knock the bullets away. He just managed to hear, over the gunfire, "Bobby and Freddy better get back with the dough quick! There's more of these freaky types out here!"
  10. Diiiiino crystals. And don't forget when you need to roll!
  11. Freedom City, New Jersey Thursday, 23 March 2017 Afternoon Arthur Campbell was many things to many different people. He was a world-renowned geologist, a contemporary of Edmund Hillary, one of the last great explorers, a guest lecturer at HIT and FCU, He was a philanthropist and a regular figure in Freedom City's gala scene, always a perfect gentleman and the life of the party. He also had excellent taste as he had requested the help of Samantha Carson when he ran into a sticky problem with some crystals. He was also a figure of interest to the police, given the number of police cars gathered around his North Point mansion and the police tape across the entrance. Samantha Carson was parked on the side of the road, watching the flurry of police activity. She was supposed to be meeting with Arthur in, well, about thirty seconds, but driving through a police cordon would make that much more complicated.
  12. What does Terrifica think of tiny crystal dinosaurs?
  13. "The front is probably a bad idea," Tona said dryly as the pair slowly approached the building. "This place is a prison, remember? In the middle of the city. That means there's got to be people watching it." She stopped in her tracks and turned around in a slow circle, still speaking as she did so. "If AEGIS catches us just walking up to the front door they're going to try and stop us. Or worse, tell Agent Wyld what we're doing and let her watch us while we do it, let her crow about it afterwards." She pointed at a particular copse of trees with its green, leafy, vision-obscuring boughs. "There. Those trees are too low. There's someone up there." She pointed at an artificial hillock. "That one, too. It's got a perfect view of anyone coming up on the rear of the building. Secondary observation."
  14. Tona's feet never touched the ground. She kept up the momentum from her first strike and swung up onto the remaining drone. She kept in constant, graceful motion, jumping from drone to drone like a monkey moving from branch to branch. She was confident, powerful, and never looked back or down, just inexorably moved forward and closer to the armor-clad criminal who had quite literally crashed the party. Her blood was up like it hadn't been in quite some time and right now she was seeing red. She landed on his back in a crouch, keeping low to make sure she wasn't blown off by the wind. "Time to take this to the ground," she grunted as she looked over the suit. Tona wasn't an engineer, but she was a fighter and she knew a few things about how the human body was put together. She raised her hand and imagined it as an ax; then she brought it down with force on the Air Martial's shoulder.
  15. I'm fine with that plan. If Key agrees, we can move on to implementing it.
  16. Can Frost's be X-rated as he finally woos Vulcana? Vignette Idea: Ultimate Hay-fever! Alien/interdimensional seeds from a place where the Green won land on Earth-Prime and begin taking root. How does your hero help fight off violently voracious vegetation and all the civil upheaval when the water mains are busted by three-foot thick roots. Related to this: Vignette idea! Worst Fears Fear-Master manages to create an aerosol version of his fear gas and makes simultaneous strikes on Emerald City, Bedlam, and Freedom City; or maybe a nightmare beast stalks the night, filling PC dreams to the brim with fright. Either way, what is your character's worst nightmare?
  17. Happy birthday to JP, Moria, and olopi. Gamers pat, present, and future!
  18. Happy birthday to our number one Canuk, bub!
  19. "And in this corner of our underground fighting ring, we have three actual superheroes. Exits are on your left, folks."
  20. Happy birthday, KD! Many happy returns.
  21. Tona's going to take a Notice check to see the mundane defenses AEGIS set up. 25 with Skill Mastery
  22. Tona pressed her lips into a thin line, trying to avoid lashing out physically at the captain. At the same time, he was stopping the boat, which is what she wanted, so she just moved to the rail and watched. Watched as the ferry slowly came to a halt, watched as the sea life bubbled to activity all around them, watched as a man disappeared below in an eyeblink. Tona didn't hesitate, didn't stop to think if there was a better option. The obvious solution was in front of her, so she took it; in a heartbeat she jumped onto the railing and then overboard, cutting into the water with a minimum of splash.
