  1. Chrome frowned. He didn't like the notion of a doppleganger in his place, even for a couple of days. Someone trying to pass for him, fooling his family and friends... It was almost worse than the idea that he would just go missing for a day. At the moment, though, there wasn't much to do about it; he had to deal with the problem in front of them. "Does your planet have any kind of accommodations for inter-dimensional refugees? What if we contacted the Lor or other aliens? Depending on their biology or their culture, it might be easier to get them off-planet rather than have them stay on Earth." He looked around at the adult heroes, aware of how out-of-his-depth he was. "I mean, Klingons aren't going to be happy getting a job at the Imperial DMV, but maybe the Lor can drop this on Fight-Planet or something."
  2. Happy birthday durf and Electra! andgrydurf, we're all happy to have you back, and Electra we're always happy that you're around.
  3. Detective Palmer had a few more questions for Sam, but they were pretty boilerplate things about her work and home. Eventually he gave her his card and a gruff "don't leave the country for the next week or so" and she was allowed to leave the scene. While she drove away the investigation continued; CSI techs roamed over every inch of the old building, searching each of the three floors room-by-room and making sure they recorded every detail. Meanwhile the reporters showed up and Palmer had to manage an impromptu press conference, sticking to the usual cop line of "can't comment on an on-going investigation" and "too early for an official statement." The police worked for hours, and the sun was going down by the time everything was wrapped up. The last police vehicles left were a pair of squad cars; one was parked across an entrance to the circular driveway while the other sat directly in front of the steps leading up to the entryway. Four uniformed officers stood in front of locked doors or patrolled the grounds, flashlights in hand, while police tape sealed off every ground-floor entrance.
  4. Chrome followed the other, older heroes into the room. He was surprised to see a single woman in there, even older than the adults who came with him, without any fancy contraptions on her. He glanced around and even did a quick RADAR burst to see if there was something hidden, but nothing immediately stood out to him. Maybe everything she did was internal, like Doctor Metropolis or Seven? Or maybe she was just hiding her tech somehow. In any case the young metal man took a seat at the time, readjusting self-consciously as he felt the leather grab at his exposed, metal flesh. It was a squirrely feeling but he forced his attention past that. "I want to know what's happening back home," he said again. "I have responsibilities back in my home dimension that aren't going to wait forever. What happens if we're here for a week, or even overnight?"
  5. I think I'm going to back Chrome out of this one. He can get around the problem too easily for it to be interesting.
  6. Chrome's going to go along with the adult heroes, until it's obvious that something is going wrong. He really does want to know who's going to take his Pre-Calc test, though.
  7. You already know that Arthur cleared his schedule to meet with Sam. He wanted to meet with her despite being able to meet with other people, he had something weird happening with his blood, and the police are treating his corpse like it's infectious. If she doesn't want to learn something specific I'm going to move us to the next scene.
  8. If you're willing to give a bit of leeway to how Chrome's powers work, he could do really well on quiet duty.
  9. Okay EP, what other information does Sam want to get from the cops before Teriffica makes her entrance?
  10. Past the detective the grand old house was a swarm of police activity. Uniformed officers carefully stalked the well-manicured lawn and other people in good clothes and jackets declaring them to be CSI moved in and out of the house. Occasionally she could glimpse uniformed officers or CSI through the big windows, moving through the interior, documenting every part of the house. Either the police force was putting on a show for the death of one of the city's leading intellectual lights, or they were as stumped as they seemed to be and were covering every possible angle. "Mr. Campbell seemed certain you could help him with his problem, Mrs. Carson," the detective said, pencil tapping against his notebook. "it appears that he only called you a few days ago, but it seemed like he shifted around several other appointments to fit your schedule. A man with Campbell's money isn't used to working around other people." Tap tap tap. "How much was he paying you? Drive down from Boston isn't exactly a short one." Behind him, a van bearing the mark of the medical examiner slowly backed up to the front of the house. Two men came out carrying a body bag between them, both of them wearing full face masks, disposable gloves, and safety goggles. That much isolation wasn't standard procedure for a body. Usually it was reserved for situations where the deceased might be contaminated in some way.
  11. The idea is that Terrifica will call in her redoubtable ward once things get moving.
  12. Man, if that was the kid's whole life things would be so much simpler.
  13. Warren stuck his head out briefly, glanced around, and then ducked back inside. He fiddled with the image projector on his belt and stepped out of the teleprojector booth not looking like a young man, but covered in a shiny metallic skin and sporting an abbreviated Claremont uniform. And holding a turkey club (no mayo). He gave a weak wave to the other assembled heroes, thinking on how much older and more ready and at ease the adults looked. All of a sudden he wasn't sure that he was, in fact, the right person for the job. "Hey, uh, I've got a question." He stepped forward, metal toes on the floor of the space. "How long is this job for your Empress going to take? I've got responsibilities back home, you know. If I go missing you're going to have to deal with a load of trouble that just starts with Headmaster Summers. I hope this is a quick job, or I might have to bounce right now."
  14. He might recognize Chrome, but wouldn't know that his powers are Communion nanotech. Might just think he's a cyborg.
  15. Happy birthday, Geez. Here's hoping to see you around more often.

  17. Does he have DNA? He's nanobots now, he's solid metal.
  18. Warren didn't know what to think of this woman have a regular tab at a random sandwich shop. Was that a thing people usually had? Of course everything said that he wasn't in his usual universe so maybe that was a normal thing around here. In any case he was hungry and this person was paying, so he shouldn't be rude to her. "Alright, sure, I can meet your Empress." He glanced at the store workers creating the sandwich, noticing how they moved so carefully they took three attempts to grip the mayo bottle, before they remembered to put it back. "I don't suppose she has a different name? It'd be weird to just call her Miss Empress all the time. 'Thanks for lunch, Miss Empress.' 'I'd love to help with your problem, Miss Empress.' 'Those shoes don't really go with that dress, Miss Empress.'"
  19. On a similar note, Warren's disguise projector is active. To any casual observer he's just a kid in really good shape.
  20. Warren looked the woman up and down quickly, trying to read her and coming away blank. That outfit certainly didn't seem to be the regular fashion, but something about how she was wearing it made him think that it wasn't the normal way it was supposed to look like, either. And was that an honest-to-God shield on her back? In any case, it was probably just best to rely on the hologram projector and play dumb. "I don't know who you think I am, ma'am, but you're mistaken. I'm just a kid, uh." He looked around quickly and spotted a sandwich shop, realizing that it was almost lunchtime and that his nanites could always use more fuel. Especially if he wasn't exactly in Freedom City anymore. "I'm just getting lunch!" Warren turned and walked into the shop, walking straight up the counter. "Um, yeah, hi. I'll have the turkey club on wheat bread, a bag of chips, and a water." He dug out his wallet and started counting out bills. "And hold the mayo, please." The boy behind the counter, not too much older than Warren, suddenly stopped punching in the order. "You don't want mayo? But... that's on the club sandwich. That's supposed to be on the club sandwich. Why would you order the club sandwich if you don't want mayo?" Warren felt goosebumps on the back of his neck and waved with the hand holding his money, swiping the order out of the air. "Don't worry about it. I'll just have the regular club, with the mayo." Now, though, the other boy was watching the dollar bills in Warren's hand. "What's that? Where's your food card?"
  21. Warren couldn't explain exactly what it was, but something was screaming at him that the whole city was just wrong. He walked down the street in his civvies, head on a swivel as he tried to take it all in. There weren't any obvious problems, no sirens in the distance or fires on the horizon. There wasn't anyone screaming in terror, there wasn't even any horns -- Ah. That was it. There were no horns, no squealing tires, just everyone proceeding smoothly and calmly down the street in a way that only existed in car commericals. He stood at a corner for a few minutes and watched the steady, smooth, and incident-free procession of traffic. It was spooky.
  22. Blue Jay Intro: Steps out from behind a background element and jumps onto the stage. Super-Move: Attacks her enemy with a variety of kicks and close-range arrows. When the enemy is full of arrows, they explode and fall on their back. Victory: Stows her bow and cross her arms smugly. "Train a little harder next time, please." Miras Intro: A swirl of smoke rises from the ground, then turns green, and finally dissipates to show her. Super-Move: She punches the enemy who flies back and then pauses in mid-air. Miras runs forward at super-speed and hits him; he goes flying back one more frame. She hits him again, and again, and again, each time pushing him back one more frame until he collapses on the ground. Victory: Stands up tall and bows her head. "God wills it." Corona Intro: Descends from the top of the screen in her armor. "Surrender now!" Super-Move: She throws her enemy into the air and blasts him with a continuous beam of energy that sends him into orbit, then she flies up into space, grabs him, and piledrives him back into the stage. Victory: Helmet retracts while she reads something off her arm menu. "You're under arrest." Chrome Intro: Bounces in from off-stage, lands hard and flexes. Super-Move: Stabs the enemy with his claws and launches them, then forms both fists into arm-cannons and air-juggles them. Finally, as they're falling he forms his fists into giant blocks and slams them into the ground. Victory: Stands and nods smugly. "That was good practice." Stronghold Intro: Drives his truck up to the battlefield and gets out, cracking his knuckles. Super-Move: Picks up his opponent in an arm made of energy and smacks them into obstacles all over the stage. Victory: Gets back into his truck. "Stay outta my town."
  23. Something is either a Drawback or a Complication. If it's a Drawback, then you shouldn't list it under Complications. If it's a Complication, then don't attack Frequency etc to it.
