Geez3r
Every now and then people wake up with that feeling in their stomach that the day is going to suck. They’ve got no reason for that belief. As far as they know, this is just another ordinary day, and most of the time it really is just a normal day. Other times however... you wish you had stayed in bed. Today will fall into the latter category. The early morning passes just like any other day. People get up, say good bye to their families and head off to work or to school or run some errands. But then, right before 11 o’clock things turned real sour, real fast. Monsters were lose in the streets, seemingly appearing out of no where. Heedless of the danger, the heroes sprang into action as the first explosion broke the early morning silence. The scene before you was one of wanton destruction. It was a rampage, nothing but the after effects of brutal savagery. And judging from the roars and shockwaves, there was still something out there hell bent on destroying everything it came across. Smoke was already billowing high into the sky, and you could taste the ash in the air. Link to comment
Geez3r
The monsters in this area have targeted Jordan International Airport. There are 3 creatures. One is a 20ft tall abomination causing chaos on the landing strips. One plane, which appeared to be in the process of being towed to the hangar and therefore was mercifully empty, is already scattered over the tarmac in flames. If the creature continues to run lose, then none of the incoming planes will be able to land. A second creature is rampaging throughout the hangars of the facility. It looks a patchwork Frankenstein monster with only one eye. For the most part the employees have had the good sense and legs to get far out of harms way. However, judging from the series of explosion emanating from the hangar, it’s not wise to let this creature run around unmolested when there’s so much fuel around. The final creature is in the airport terminal itself, chasing after panicked Freedomites. It looks some kind of humanoid turtle moving in a kind of weird lurching motion. The creature doesn’t seem to be too fast, but it is plowing through every single support column it comes across. If the creature doesn’t catch the citizens, the falling roof probably will. Avenger Assembled
In a flash of light, the angel of Freedom appeared over the airport, grief on his face as he heard the screaming and terror below. Despite himself, he shot a look at the skies overhead, wishing for the impossible: for the Celestial Host to be by his side as they had been in his youth, when he'd been just a soldier in the eternal war against the Adversary. But they weren't there of course. This was a fight for superheroes. Hoping his new friends in the Freedom League had gotten the same signal he had, he dove to battle. Link to comment
Gizmo
A black motorcycle roared through the streets of Freedom, nimbly picking its way around the piles of overturned pavement and flaming rubble. It's rider lay low, letting the wind flow over him to blow his jacket outward, tendrils of inky mist trailing behind it. Ahead of him, the entrance way from the airport's parking lot had been completely blocked by overturned cars. Glowing red eyes narrowed behind the visor of the cyclist's helmet as the bike accelerated. The front wheel shot into the air, and the motorcycle flew forward, using the ruined vehicles as a ramp to launch through a wall of fire and smoke to land on the tarmac on the other side. The acrid cloud didn't bother Midnight. It was time to see if these monsters could say the same. Link to comment
playah
The day started slowly and just as uneventful as usual (that is, when its not starting with a giant abominations, monsters from movies or giant ooze attacking the city), Randy was up and awake since 7 AM, doing nothing else but his job as a taxi driver- delivering people here and there just to have a few bucks for dinner. Sometime around 11 AM he delivered some busy, dorky looking businessman at the Airport becouse, well, he didnt care about his story at all (he talked though). He waited at the airport for a moment, if only to have a small nap at the parking lot and wait for another custumer (that being airport, one was about to appear in a minute or so). What woke him up from his little nap, wasnt another person, but rather a whole lot of them, running away from the airport, as if it was attacked by... "WOAH!", exclaimed Randy as he noticed the havoc that was currently going on there. He was about to jump out and get into action, when someone boarded his cab and screamed with panic. "T-t-TAKE ME OUT OF HERE! NOW! NOW!" Which was the last thing Randy was about to do now. He sighed and casually left the cab, walked toward the back door and opened it for the man, who looked at him with mixed fear (of monsters), panic and confusion. "Scram. Take a bus." The frightened passanger-wannabe was too shocked to argue and just left the cab with another weird story to tell to his friends. Randy meanwile took out his bandana from under the seat and donned it while running toward the biggest monster there, touching the concrete on his way to turn into mighty stone superhero. Carbon was ready. Link to comment
Nyrath
There was trouble at the airport, pandemoneum even from what Alex understood. Which was why she'd teleported in straight away over the place. As she plummeted earthwards the dark angel tried to spot anyone else who had turned up. The winged heroinne dearly wished she could have the others from her fledgling team with her, and not just because Moira's prodiguous strength would be handy against foes this big (and even the redhead would have hard time missing targets like these). But seemed she wouldn't be alone at least. Not that being the sole hero on site would have stopped her from trying, she had died fighting before and figured she might well do so again at some point. No matter, there were lives to save and asses to kick. Link to comment
Ecalsneerg
Arrowhawk had frantically got out of bed, donned his suit and leapt onto his bike. Speeding across town, he listened to police bands on his earpiece. The airport. He spun in the middle of the road, skidding onto the correct path with practiced ease. The bike's engine roared as Arrowhawk screeched to a halt on his bike, hands going for his bow and an arrow instantly. Link to comment
Ecalsneerg
Arrowhawk revved up his engine, flicking a switch to keep the engine on as he stood up on the bike, nocking an arrow as he did so. Leaning over to steer, he pulled onto the landing strips. The 20' tall monster needed to be stopped. The archer let the explosive arrow fly. It struck the monster in the chest, the explosive charges driving through its iron skin. Link to comment
Geez3r
Arrowhawk's aim strikes true as the exploding arrow catches the soft under belly of the beat. The monster staggers back a step or two in pain. It turns to face it's assailaint, its massive tail cutting large grooves into the tarmac. The creature hisses dangerously at Arrowhawk, but doesn't appear to be in any rush to attack him. Scorch marks from the blast apparent on its chest. Link to comment
Sandman XI
Wesley wonders sometimes why he isn't normal. And he reminds himself, it's for things like this. He protects people's lives. He's reminded of the story of David and Goliath as he rushes to the landing strip. He doesn't have a stone and the giant doesn't have that big of an army, but it's the story he's trying to follow with. "The battle is not mine said little David," he hums a tune under his breath to keep his sanity when facing the twenty foot tall monster, "Lord it's thine I'm in your favor." Getting within range, a long black tentacle pops out of Wesley's hand and makes it's way to the monster's forehead. Link to comment
Geez3r
The tendril strikes home, striking the rampaging monster square between the eyes. The beast writhes and wriggles as its flesh bubbles and expands. It distorts and changing, combating the change Wesley is forcing on it, and after a moment's struggle manages to throw off the influence of Wesley's power, maintaining its physical form. Nyrath
The big guy's the obvious threat, but looks like there's trouble in the hangar and the terminal as well. And the others I see can probably handle him. Mongrel Angel altered the angle of her dive somewhat aiming to go through one of the great windows. As the dark angel crashed through the large pane of glass she saw the chelonian crook that was crashing through pillars and trying to chow on civilians. Turning hard the winged amazon hurled herself at the turtle terror, striking out with wild abandon. "Time to play! Don't break too easily!" Maenheld playfully called out, the cheerful tone at odds with the brutal violence she was unleashing. Link to comment
Geez3r
I don't know when the last time you saw I giant rampaging turtle stop dead and get a full "holy crap" look in its eyes, but it really is a thing of beauty. This marvel of nature is only surpassed by crushing in the skull of said turtle with wild abandon. For a moment, it looks like Mongrel Angel has literally smashed the turtle's head into it's chest cavity somewhere, before its head pops out again, bruised but definitely serviceable. With a dull roar, it smacks the over extended Mongrel Angel with a heavy backhand, catching her in the middle of the chest. Believing his quarry to be dispatched, it heads after the citizens again. Gizmo
With squealing tires, the Night Cycle shot down the runway, making a beeline for the massive turtle creature. Midnight reasoned that it was the most immediate threat, actively attacking civilians, and if the gathered heroes concentrated their attacks there, they could take it down before moving on to the other two. Racing through the opening in the terminal the creature had created as it broke into the building, the motorcycle hugged the ground as it turned sharply to race in front of the beast. As it tired to take a step back, Midnight was already behind it, circling the creature closer and closer each time, engine revving intimidatingly. There wasn't much he could do against such a behemoth, but he could keep it off balance long enough for the powerhouses to deliver a decisive blow. Link to comment
playah
Seemed like he wasnt the only one who wanted to beat down some monsters. Good for them, judging by their size there's plenty for everyone. The one on the airport was already occupied, but one more wont make a difference. He noticed one archer, but whether it was Bowman or that other guy (what was his name?) was beyond him. And one familiar face- he'll recognize those deadlocks everywhere. As he charged at the monster, he passed by Wesley Knight and only threw a quick "HI WES!" as he punched the monster in the legs... without making so much as a scratch. Not a good sign. "Huh... Gotta punch harder next time." Link to comment
Avenger Assembled
Freedom Angel flew into the hangar, dodging around explosions, his magnificent wings fluttering as he came to a halt in the air just in front of the huge creature there that was causing all the trouble. He spread his wings wide to get its attention, momentarily stopping the beast's rampage. "My friend!" he called out, seeking empathy with something he knew very little about, "can't you see the damage you're doing?" He pointed to some nearby fuel barrels. "If you're not careful, this whole building could explode, endangering innocents everywhere." He extended his free hand. "Come. Let us put an end to this violence." Link to comment
Geez3r
The monster just gaped openly at Freedom Angel for a moment, completely dumbfounded. It took a few calming breaths and slowly extended its hand towards Freedom Angel. But before its hand could move more than a couple of inches, the creature suddenly recoiled, howling in pain. It clutched its head as it rolled around the ground, as it were having a siezure. It a breif moment of calm it looked directly at Freedom Angel, hand slowly reaching up to him "Help...me." but before it could say another word, the other warring force in its head reasserted itself and the beast roared with inhuman rage once again. This was merely the puppet, but where was the puppet master? Link to comment
Ecalsneerg
Arrowhawk kept moving as Wesley's attack had no discernable effect. Pulling out an arrow, he nocked it and looped his finger into the fletching. I hate these experimental arrows. He fired it into the ground near the huge monster's feet, spikes shooting into the cement and anchoring it there even as Arrowhawk pulled taut the cable which had remained in his hand. OK, field test one... The archer steered his bike in a tight circle, the cable looping around and around the thing's huge ankles. Finally, shooting forth from his circle, the loops pulled tight and, unsteadily, the thing crashed into the ground. Field test: success. Link to comment
Sandman XI
Wesley watched the behemoth fall. He resisted the urge to yell "TIMBEEER!" Now was his chance. He would ride the thing into battle against the other monster. Like when The Centurion faced off with Gigantosaur in that old black and white movie. He would have remembered it's name, but thee's never enough time to remember pop culture bits when you're fighting giant monsters. Another tentacle popped out of Wesley's hand and this time aimed for the prone gribbly's neck. He overshot. Well, so much for riding Gigantosaur's fortieth cousin or some such. Link to comment
Geez3r
Despite being easily tripped up by Arrowhawk's newest toy, the Titan is on its feet again soon enough. It raises its fists high into the air, bringing them crashing down to the ground below. The concussion sends a ripple through the ground before it reaches critical mass and violently explodes outward, showering the 3 nearby heroes with chunks of tarmac and dirt. Link to comment
Gizmo
As the beast in the terminal went down, the Night Cycle used its collapsed form as a ramp to fly out of the damaged building back onto the runway. Speeding toward the hanger and the distracted creature within, Midnight repeated his earlier tactic, roaring around the monster's feat at a breakneck speed, keeping it off balance and confused. Nyrath
Mongrel Angel turns the turtles mighty blow into a glancing strike and easily shrugs it off. She's very tempted to just keeping up the close up bashing, but the dark skinned heroinne notices that the chelonian is still focused on the civilians. This will not do. The dark angel beats her wings once and flies around the armoured ones front, baring the way to the vulnerable humans fleeing the scene. "To bad I can't stay and play more, so just drop already." The supernatural mongrel pulls from deep within her and unleashes a blast of infernal energy that strikes not at the hard body of her foe, but at the most likely softer spirit. Link to comment
playah
Seeing as its taking some time with them three combined, Carbon realized that he needs something heavier to injure that thing. Something like that truck full of gas that stands right next to him. Bingo. He smiled to himself and easily lifted the thing above his head, as if it wasnt weighting several tons. And since this is Freedom City, they probably have "thrown at a giant monster by a superhero" somewhere on theire insurance anyway. Hey, big and ugly- CATCH! It didnt catch it. Tough for him. Avenger Assembled
Freedom Angel was knocked off balance by the horrific realization that the monster was an innocent, controlled by unknown dark force. "My friends!" he called, his voice booming loud enough to be heard by all those within the remotest possibility of earshot. "These are no fiends, but innocents in the grip of a terrible power! Treat them as such!" He focused and drew upon his inner strength, summoning a massive blade that glowed with white, holy fire, a strange counterpoint to the darkly roaring Midnight Cycle beneath him, and brought it up over his head. "Let this soul be freed!" And with that, he brought the blade down across the creature's face, a flash of divine fire scorching the sky as his blade dug deep. Summoning on heroic reserves, he followed up on the attack, striking a mighty blow to save the creature from itself. Link to comment
Geez3r
The creature staggers towards Freedom Angel, ready to attack his would be savior. However, Freedom Angel acts without hesitation. Freedom Angel's holy blade washes over the body of the innocent, divine energy coursing through his body. The creature utters a muffled howl before it collapses to the ground, unconscious but still very much alive. A suitable justice is done. Elsewhere, the other angel exacts her revenge on the other monster, which meets a similar fate, it's mind lit afire by Mongrel Angel's magical assault. Link to comment
