  1. @Kaiser6012, what would Anthony's last memory of being with Robert be before he was cursed? @EternalPhoenix, what was Steven's last memory with Maybelle be before the day he died? @Heritage, question's the same, Ren and Lynn, last 'together' moment before he died.

  3. GM Maybelle McQueen, Queenie It had been a long trying night. The Moore family reunion was one of the most trying ones. Sure, the guy who made Freedom City hell in the late 80s and early 90s, but he had a family. And money. So, a labor of love of your job was. Franklin was all talk surrounded by people. He knew of Queenie's heroics. If you weren't one of the best chefs in town for impromptu large gatherings he would have went elsewhere. After the restaurant was clean and the employees gone, you took to the sky. It was clear and refreshing. When you got home, there was a light on in the kitchen. As you called out, you heard a voice you hadn't heard in a long time. "Yeah honey," your deceased husband said, sitting at the kitchen table in the work clothes you saw him last in, "don't worry about... where am I?" Lynn Epstein, Grimalkin You were alone, looking through orders, just before the store opened. Lady Liberty merchandise was flying off the shelf ever since that biopic was made. In a world full of superheroes, people had their favorites. You got a text from Gretchen, as you were just about done and the doors were open. "Who's this?" Followed by a face that you knew Instantly. It was Ren. Nanowire. Alive. "I walked in our home to find him. Said he wanted to see you. Know where you were." A quick message followed, "Is there something you want to tell me?" Robert Spalding, Vita Nexus "Son," you heard you father for the first time in a long time. It was a questioning. he saw you using your powers to dispatch a bunch of hooligans trying to rob a parts store late at night. He seemed to come from absolutely out of nowhere. "You, you have it? That explains a lot now that I think about it." Your father smiled, healthy as the day is long. A quick scan revealed that it was a person, and it was alive. But something did not match up with 'being alive'. Mechanical wasn't the term for it, but He was running on human interaction. But for all intents and purposes, this was your father. Dr Dmitri Ivanovich Peshov, Comrade Frost "Champion," you heard Hel's voice from beyond. "Do not be alarmed, I'm here to deliver to you a task. People from the realm of the dead are coming up missing. I want you to investigate. Find out who's taking them." And that's the command you were given. No other words were spoken. Your investigation lead you to many different people with seemingly returned friends and family. Though they knew nothing of being dead.Just remembering their last healthy moment before dying and showing up in their family's home. Leilani Keli'i, Volcanic Unfortunately not all people coming back were nice and/or good people. Villains, yes. But abusive and alcoholic relatives also. Some ran for cover, others had their past to deal with. Still, there were protectors looking to do good in the world. Alive or dead they weren't going to get a free walk. Still, you heard the pleas that the dead had come back to life. That something was very very wrong.
  4. Right, as I mentioned in chat, there's a cut off. October 2007. Anyone who's died since then is resurrected. No death marks. As they were before they died. If any PCs want any in their past to pop up, please note. Clarification: Not everyone dead in the past ten years is alive again. There will be a number of them in the background, but not all of them. Just asking the PCs if they want anyone specific

    They Live

Suggested by Raveled, can't take any of the credit, but I'm gonna throw my twists in there. The dead are coming back to life. Not as zombies or undead, but fully to life. Those with Life Sense see that they're alive, yes, but are going through the motions of life. Basically responding to human interactions and doing nothing else when left alone. This is not just for characters with Life Sense, but maybe for people who has someone recently dead. Whether friend or foe. This'll probably bring up some tough questions! So, anyone interested?
  6. So, how will the thread go? My suggestion is to start in the thick if the action. HT is attacking. We're there to stop him. As we fight we can recall how this whole thing started from our own point of view. Also banter with HT and each other. Afterwards a meetup of all three. That's my suggestion. @alderwitch, @EviscerusNox, you're good to share what you want
  7. Human Tapestry stats. Shark Totem (made by EternalPhoenix) + Growth 6 + Tattoo Powers X (up to PL14) Afterwards, when he's defeated, he'll probably not have this power or have a quantifiable not so powerful version of it. Storywise, he's either actually a wereshark aware of his divinity and it sparks. Or he was a human who wanted power and somehow got it. Maybe he made a deal with the devil. maybe he went through shady genetics brokers. Either way, he's made his way to the tattoo convention to show off. Feeling slighted (somehow), he goes on a rampage!

  10. Undead Undead Hunter Back in the day you just wanted to live on your own piece of land. Nobody but you (and probably your spouse and kids) for miles and days around. It was peaceful, yup. But then the dead came back to life. First you thought it was the animals just being too damn tough unless you put a bullet in their head. But then you saw your first dead man walking. You could tell he was dead because the poor bastard was rotting. You did try to call out a warning, but when he only answered in grunts and groans, and then attacked you, you had to put him down. More and more dead men walking came. So you did your damnedest to protect you and your own. But eventually there was too many. Some of them didn't even have bodies! In the end you prayed for help as the horde of the dead swarmed. Help came in the fact that you were now one of them, but somehow, you weren't mindless like them. Fate, Justice, God, Higher (Lower?) powers... whoever intervened and made you their champion. The army of the dead seemed to not even care that you were walking around unimpeded. You found a pair of pistols in your hand. They were made of light blue stuff. Though you knew what you had to do with them. You blew away every one of the dead intruders. Ever since then you've hunted their kind. It's been a long time and you don't look as alive as you did back then, but you still keep the vigil of taking the dead to their graves. Specific, huh? Can't say I've not been thinking about making a character like this. But the whole gun use thing is not something we condone for our heroes on this site. C'est la vie. Mechanically, you're OK against normal stuff, but you only reach caps when you're fighting your favored opponent. Zombies and ghosts aren't your only prey, there are liches and vampires, and if you want to dig into the minutia, ghouls, wights, mohrgs, et cetera. You know about them well, tracking their type for 150ish years. An aside about being undead and aging. While immunity to Fortitude protects you from dying of old age, would it protect you from the ravages of age? I mean look at our good buddy in the picture. He's probably not got immunity to aging, but is alive! Yer a mean sort, a century and a half of dealing with the dead while being dead'll do that to you. Gives you decent intimidation. While mindless undead won't care if you try to scare them, put the fear into those sentient undead. Stationary is not a Snare feat, but a Create feat. I think it fits, but that's a ref/GM call Complications include not being accepted in normal places due to your freakish look. Animals being spooked around you or out right attacking you. You're probably a loner still? If not, you just want someone to accept you. Darker still, you were raised in a different time, you probably have a different set of values. But, please, don't. Your Guns are not particularly smiled upon in polite conversation. Your Gravestone will most likely have to have you buried a graveyard, so you'll most likely be dealing with the people who run said places. 11. Fighter "Why do we fight? To protect home, and family... to preserve balance, and bring harmony. For my kind, the true question is: What is worth fighting for?" I swear I'm not trying to make all fantasy classes. Though this guy probably fits in to the setting more than Big Paladin does. He uses his fists to bring down bullies and madmen. Criminals fear guys who can burn them alive or break their mind. This guy, however, metes out justice by throwing educated hands and feet. Mechanically, I've never been on this side of the tradeoff. +5 defense, +5 attack. You're gonna hit and be hard to hit. Lots of fighting feats means you studied lots of fighting styles. Boxing, krav maga, wrestling. Or maybe the eastern styles; karate, taekwondo, judo. I like to think the character would mix it up with strikes and takedowns. Stay away from them darn psychics and their Perception Range attacks. They'll eat you alive (maybe, criminal psychics are weirdos). Still, outside of the rare trade off fight, you're not going to get hit much or miss your target. 12. Big Paladin A holy warrior! The ultimate good guy! Before I dive into fluff, lets get to the numbers. His armor is so big it takes time to put on. Some of you fans of the cartoons from the east might fluff it as a mecha. I personally think it's too small to be a mecha, but too big to be power armor. Really though, superhero paladin armor should look and be epic. I see his sword as a two-hander. But the celestial armor makes it a one-hander. Speaking of the sword it's got, let's say, 'issues'. In a silver age game, good and evil can be defined. But us modern age folks? Well, we live in a very grey area! Out of the suit, he's a great negotiator. And a decent (PL6) fighter. Now, on the fluff side, the suit probably doesn't belong to you. You are the chosen to wear the armor and wield the sword. So you can't go out unless it's approved. But you're most likely in good graces for being allowed to wear the armor. So as long as you don't knock the holy tenets, the answer should almost always be yes. You could make a case for carrying around the sword without the armor, but it probably looks weird, you carrying a big sword around town. Want a less religious background? You found the armor and sword. Or maybe they found you. Chose you. What you do with weapons and armor of good is up to you. 14. I figure we could work on the stats together. I like a little bit of both. Wereshark with the ability to power up from tattoos. The minions, if he has any, could be human followers. It takes all of us together to put him down the first time. That said, I don't want this to be a boring slog of a fight. Any ideas on how we could avoid "he swings we swing"?

  16. About Human Tapestry, should he have a full sheet? Or just a list of stats that matter? About Wesley/Vitalus, Maxie/Spitfire, Ray/Renegade. Would they know each other?
  17. Thanks, @Kolohehonu! I know little about Hawaiian myth, so if you wanna consult on that. @EviscerusNox, I'm not too sure about minions. Well, not too many at least. I'd like for Human Tapestry to do well without the minions. So, where do we start this? Wesley has a shop in Riverside. @alderwitch's Renegade has a shop (hey, wanna join in?). It doesn't have to be a shop. could be a convention or a get together.
  18. @EviscerusNox A villain sprung up out of talk for Spitfire and Vitalus team up thread. Things discussed: - Will be a credible threat first appearance. Jobber afterwards. - Powers were never really decided on. Takes tattoos off people? Empowers himself off of others tattoos? Forces control on inked persons? - Tone of the villain will be a silver interpretation of an iron age villain. He's rude and angry and doesn't like anyone! These are subject to change. If the peanut gallery wants to chime in/get on this, speak up
  19. Changed the Immunity to Enhanced Will 9 Dropped Hardened Muscle by 1, Upped Enhanced Strength by 2.
  20. Fixed flat-footed. What would i need to put for the immunityto be something like bane or hulk doing their thing and not being affected (as much?) by mental effects? Not saying he's raging, but it's built off that. If it's too much trouble, can drop it.

Residence: Riverside Base of Operation: None Catchphrase: "." Alternate Identity: Wesley Octavius Knight (birth name) Identity: Secret (mostly) Birthplace: Tunnel Hill, Alabama Occupation: body artist, business owner Affiliations: None Family: None, all passed or in the past. Age: 27 (born 13 December, 1989) Apparent Age: early twenties Gender: Male Ethnicity: African-American Height: 6 foot 6 inches (1.98 meters) Weight: 240 pounds (109kg) Eyes: green (due to mutation), brown (originally) Hair: black Wesley is a well-build man, with very defined muscle. A fighter's build. Swole arms, legs, and torso. His arms, chest, back and neck are covered with years with of inked art. Each one of them a personal memory (even if a few of those memories are 'this looks awesome'). His eyes are a vibrant green and have been so ever since his powers erupted forth. he loves his thick long dreadlocks and considers them a source of pride that he keeps them up so well. you can hear the southern inflect in his voice, even though he's been in Freedom for nearly a decade.Even though he's big, he does not walk like a big man. Almost always in thought about something and someone. When he's not doing that he like to sit or lean on walls. Never a straight stand. His clothing is urban wear baggy cargos, sandals, and an a-shirt when in public or when it's proper. He does love to show off his ink. His 'costume' is barely different. he throws on a brown hoodie on and ditches the sandals for work boots. Power Descriptions: Wesley's power set changes so much that even he thinks it's silly. The only thing constant is the glow. He glows dark green, gold, or purple when he uses his powers. All the ranged powers shoot of as shots of energy. If someone is under his powers effects they might even glow themselves. Not as bright as him, but definitely noticeable until it's done. History: Here for pre-Freedom City days When he got to his destination, it wasn't a cake walk. While he did have the job, it wasn't as good at it was made out to be. Sure everything was nice and the owner was a nice guy, but Wesley didn't get much being the new guy. So he poked around for side jobs where he could. There was a whole community around here! Riverside was great. Though his first big paycheck came from someone off the books. A woman who needed an intricate back piece done. She somehow new about his powers and knew he could stay up day and night if need be. Little did he know he was getting into Triad business. The woman, who only wanted to be known as 'Jade' taught him Mandarin as he worked. It was for his own good. By the time he was done (seven days? ten?) a whole boatload of gangsters came flooding in. This was the real deal, he had to protect himself and not hurt anyone. Jade was resting, but watching the whole thing. Of course, the was easy, a meta with biological powers versus normal guys (there were a bunch of them though, with hatchets!) Of course he survived and no one died. 'Jade' said that others who needed to know. She thanked him for being her 'Knight'. And that's how he got his first her name. Even though it was his last name. After that was one of the most disgusting things ever. A bunch of heroes gathered to fights some alien poo? He never found out what it was, but he and another (a machine kid) were the last ones to face down that piece of filth. That lead to more connections. The adventures start to blur after that. Only his time on the Knights of Freedom was the clearest out of it all (Avenger, Scarab, Divine, Grimalkin, Dr Archeville, others). By that time, he'd moved into his own place and with the money to buy a place in Riverside. It was small, but he had a following, both on the mundane and meta side. He tried, comically almost, his hand at the dating scene. It didn't work out. That and he was more absorbed in his work and art. By then he'd lost his way. doing more jobs for himself and his friends than focusing on the hero thing. And while that's not why he came up here, he always felt like it was his calling that he was ignoring. He even traveled a bit. Got his bachelor's degree in medicine. Still, the call of the hero beckoned him. Some times it even came to his front door! he was not callous. He helped what he could. Just never... OK enough's enough. He could ignore it no longer. The tug at his heart strings as the world almost drowned was too much. He was going to get out there and do something. He even took a (third after the short lived 'Life Knight') name. Vitalus! Personality and Motivation: Wesley is, well, quiet is an exaggeration. He does like conversation, he just never gets to talk. Not that he minds. He'll listen to anyone and answer in kind. He is a stand up guy and will rush to help if needed. All those years he was 'absent' was a misnomer. He was here, just in the background! He wants to step out of the back ground now. To do more than just hide in the shadow. To step up and take responsibility. Powers and Tactics: Wesley is a mix of range and melee. He'd prefer not to mix it up and shoot down his enemies in a nonviolent (as you can get with using bioenergy to blast others) way. But if it gets close range, he will flip on his signature Adrenaline Rush and quickly beat down his opponents with massive strength and speed. Complications The Job: Wesley owns and works at Knight's Ink body art shop. Tattoos and piercings are normal. But select clientele have special requests. As long as it's legal, Wesley will oblige them. The (kinda) Secret: While his new foray into the hero scene is that of a covered urban warrior, there are a handful of heroes villain and civilians that know his identity. Relationships: He is very friendly with his employees (and in fact won't hire someone if the crew disapproves). Ghosts!: Not that he fears them. Malevolent spirits are somewhat a sore spot for him as he cannot deal with them by himself. Warmth: Wesley leaves a faint heat trail that those with certain senses can see like a beacon. Age: 27 (born 13 December, 1979) Apparent Age: early twenties Gender: Male Ethnicity: African-American Height: 6 foot 6 inches (1.98 meters) Weight: 240 pounds (109kg) Eyes: green (due to mutation), brown (originally) Hair: black Wesley is a well-build man, with very defined muscle. 24. It's those moments where you just happen upon a snippet of a conversation that grabs your interest as a hero. Antonio crawled around in the dark places downtown. The place where cops and your normal flying tights dare to tread. It wasn't going to fix itself. When he wasn't doing his heroic duty, he was mainly either working at the job - his 9 to 5 was taking tickets at a local movie theatre - or practicing his boxing skills. Not that he only did that, he was a social person, getting in where he could fit in. It was just that the job paid the bills and the training kept up the physique. So he had to make time for himself sparingly. Antonio overheard a conversation while on his way to the gym. He keeps his ears open while out on the street. He also walks to the gym, it being two city blocks away. Good exercise before exercise! Street punks in an alleyway (that whole 'working in a bad part of down town') talking about getting some weapons. He heard something to the tune of HyperMegaCorp. it didn't surprise him, but how were they bankrolling that? Evil doesn't give things away for free. Later that night he suited up - black spandex body suit with a red skull on the face, and urban camo fatigues - though this time he didn't head into the streets. He had a place to be. HyperMegaCorp. Sneaking into the place was just a matter of stealth.
  25. Hey, I just saw this. Sorry I haven't been on much. I'll get to answering soon, @EternalPhoenix
