1. Works for me. Question: in character building, the last 2 aspects come from other char/gm interactions (story building). How or are we going to handle that? I've got my ideas for the aspects but no clue on the story/connections bit.
2. Cole muttered a mild obscenity or two at the little device until he finally gave a nod of satisfaction. It still wouldn't last for more than a few minutes of use, but at least it worked now. He turned and tossed the tube to Vicky. "There ya go. Should work any, for a little while anyway." But at least it worked and his 'pride' was assuaged. He shrugged one shoulder. "The bike is modular, able to reconfigure its design as needed. I did it more for disguise than anything else I think." He chuckled. "Sorry, no weapons or armor besides my own suit. Didn't need anything for now. I suppose I could come up with something if I needed for future missions." He paused a brief moment. "There's a thought. Take your own adventures and just 'tweak' them, change the setting and stuff. Instead of Fairies or whatever, change them to machines or aliens with something. Might give you a good basis to build or expand from. Or if you don't want to use your own, read up on past heroic exploits or whatever. In the time I've been out, I think I must have read at least hundreds of them in my free time. Changing the names and stuff, giving it a new spin, might give you more ideas?" He quirked a smile. "I read fast."
3. Cole gave a strong frown at the small device as it petered out. "Let me see that," he said, asking really. Once she handed it over, he started fiddling with it. "Must be the converter modulater. Frequency is probably a hair off...," he muttered to himself. He responded to her without looking as he worked. "Of course you can keep it. I have no need for it really. Built it more as a lark, seeing if I could than anything else. Though bear in mind the charge won't last that long, an hour or two maybe, even once I fix the dang thing," he finished with another mutter. "Ideas? Well, I'm just about done with my bike," he said nodding over his shoulder to the tarp covered vehicle. "It certainly looks different at the moment. Feel free. As for other ideas, I'm surprised you don't have plenty already. Didn't you read a whole bunch of those kids of book or movies? I don't suppose they are inspiriting?"
4. already made the rolls (though realized belatedly that could take 20 on the design) Device 4 (easy to loose) [12] - Strike 10 (Extra: Penetrating) [20pp) Obviously it's only good for one scene (ie this thread) due to the item creation rules. (But thought it'd be funny)
5. "That's nice of you, thanks. I'm doing ok. Spending most of my time fiddling with stuff. Which reminds me," he snapped his fingers, looking around the cluttered bench before pulling out a 12 inch long cylinder; rather plain with a single button switch towards the top. "I said I worked on it. Here's your lightsaber thing. Power cell is likely only good for 10 minutes or so though," he says with a shrug. "It'll cut through just about anything I think...though I haven't tested that yet. I don't have access to rare material of that nature," he said almost apologetically as he handed it to her. "Be careful with what you hit obviously. Hmm...I suppose I could recharge it if and when it burns out of course. It just didn't seem important to make it a self-recharging or perpetual power source...though I might be able to do that," he mused half to himself. He shook his head and brought himself back to the present. He watched her to see if she thought the 'toy' was ok as he answered. "No no, I don't mind at all. Company is nice. So, you need ideas? About anything particular or just random stuff?"
6. DS can assist if you want/need (it'd never occur to him to salvage the vessel)
7. Dark Star nodded. "Yes, a month. And that's assuming 'she' stops at two systems between us and 'preserves', and possibly consumes, the planets located there." He sighed. "Negotiations are not possible; believe me. If I, of all people, am saying negotiations and peace talks will not work, then trust me, they are a waste of time. Bluffing it is also not likely given it is unlikely to care though I suppose I should not rule that out." He shakes his head. "I have helped evacuate multiple worlds that were in her path over the years. Nothing has ever stopped her...however, on very rare occasions, we have been able to turn her away/change her course. It requires an immense amount of power and damage mind you. I have even assisted in those occasions; alone I cannot do enough to dissuade her. Be aware that, despite my power, I alone cannot harm or dissuade her...not with destroying dozens of nearby systems anyway. Regardless, it is not really an option. We need to get back to Earth to warn them. Gather as many of the brightest and most powerful heroes we can if we intend to make her turn from our path. I will explain everything I know, which sadly is not much. But for now, we need to go." He gestured, creating a platform for the others. Once in, he'd seal it and head home. There was no time for leisurely flight now.
8. I started one of these threads...Haven't heard from people yet...

Heavy Metal!

As would Torque...but looks like you're a bit full up.
10. Cole looked up, blinking as he pulled himself out of his working mode. "Oh, hey Vicky. Morning, I think. Thanks," he said with a nod to the coffee. He put the microtools down and pushed the small circuit board a little bit away so he wouldn't hit it accidentally. He took a sip of the drink, blinking in surprise at the taste, before turning to Vicky. "Lightsaber? Oh, not this is something else. I built that lightsaber thing of yours about three weeks ago now I think. The design was easy but building a suitable power cell and the modulating field to contain it was tricky given what I had to work with. I really need to build my own tools I think," he said half to himself with a shrug. "But its functional enough. So, what brings you in here? I haven't exactly had a lot of visitors," he said ruefully.
11. The month had slowly moved on. It had been rather quiet, something not everyone enjoyed. The weather was pleasant for the most part, there wasn’t too much work going on around the campus. Most of the student body was away, leaving the campus remarkably empty (for another couple months or so at least). It also meant that finding other folks could be a bit harder than normal. Everyone dealt with this down time a little differently. Cole wasn’t a hard one to find really; as long as you only looked in a couple places. Namely, his room, the cafeteria, occasionally under a shady tree on a nice day or, the most likely option, in the garage/workshop. He had been there most of the time over the last month. He wasn’t the extreme outgoing type, though he did like talking to people. He was always working on something, either building or designing. And since he barely knew anyone, he'd been free to indulge. Cole sat on a stool leaning over a bench in the back of the garage. There was a rather broad array of tools and parts splayed out around him on the bench. Wrenches to pipes to wire and microchips covered most of the available space. There was just a small cleared area in front of him as he worked diligently away at a rather small circuit board.
12. Cole looked around the rectangular room curiously. "I understand," he said with a nod to Ms. A and Sharl before they left the room. He noted the equipment curiously, hoping he didn't need to perform any gymnastics; that was not something he'd ever studied. He wandered over to the red line, taking a moment to roughly measure and get a feel for the dimensions of the place. When he was ready, and when he thought they had enough time to get back to the observation room, he stepped behind the red line to wait patiently.
13. Doktor'd I'd like to spend the 4pp for Torque. I want to put all of them into the device (increasing it by 1 level). Those 5 pts are all going into the primary weapons array. Add Variable x2 and Affect Insubstantial x1 to the entire array. the other 2 points will increase the 'size' of that array (from 26 to 28pts) Blast 12 will add Precise and Homing. Blast 8 (area) becomes Blast 9 (area) (will leave 1 in there unspent I think) Will increase Super Strength by 1 to a 2. Code included below for easy copy/pasting: Energy System, Primary/Offensive 13 (28 points; PFs: Affect Insubstantial x1, Variable x2 , 2 Alternate Powers) [35PP] BE: Blast 12 (PFs: Accurate x2, Homing, Precise) {28/28} - Charged Disks AP: Blast 9 (Extras: Area [Burst, General]) {27/28} - Exploding Energy Disk AP: Enhanced Strength 24 (to 36/+13) and Super-Strength 2 (effective Str 46) {28/28} Doktor'd
14. Dark Star's concerns had proved to be valid ones. He quickly communicated to the evacuation fleet even as he let his own senses reach out. It was definitely not good either way. He estimated her current course and got some more bad news. He double checked his findings, as well as the rescue/survivor fleet before turning and flashing back to the moon. Only a few minutes had passed before he returned, quickly coming to a stop inside the vessel. He addressed Ms. A and Dragonfly. "We have a significant problem. Unfortunately my cautious proved to be correct. The Gorgon is close; 25 light years away, which is obviously not too far in galactic distances. Worse, her current course will eventually bring her almost directly in line with this solar system. By my calculations and estimates, we have approximately one month before she gets here."
15. I'm good for whenever...gotta go make a new char though...
16. I might be interested in this too. No clue on a concept yet...will need to dig up the books somewhere.
17. Derrick nodded with a thoughtful expression. "I'm not sure who or where else to look honestly. I suppose we can ask some of our friends; they might have an idea or two as well." He wasn't too worried; something would turn up. Nor was money a real concern either and not just because it seldom occurred to either. Living on your own planet had its advantages. "I suppose I could keep some of the money I receive if we need it," he mused. Dark Star did make some money; he was a frequent researcher and assistant for ASTRO Labs, Star Island not to mention a little part time teaching at Claremont. That money had always gone to charities up till now however. He chuckled happily. "I think even after we get our current 'backlog' addressed, we will be busy. Adjusting to our new life and treasure will take some time," he agreed. "But we'll be fine, I'm certain. We just need to adjust a little."
18. Dark Star nodded in agreement. He sent off a quick message to the base on Earth; having a bunch of Omegadrones suddenly appear in their laps might upset some folks. At least this way they would get a little warning. Not much of course; but something was better than nothing, right? A bit of focused will and a portal suddenly opened up; a moment later the drones were all safely away. He closed the portal and turned to the ladies. "I will check the equivalent locations, at best guess, and surrounding systems just to be sure. I won't be gone long," he said before rocketing away.
19. Cole quirked an eyebrow. "Sounds like a organic version of a power inhibitor," he said idly. "I'm glad it seemed to have worked, and made you more comfortable," he added nodded towards her and noting her proximity. A few days ago, a few feet away had seemed more than close enough. "Sounds like a difficult power to have. Having a way to ease the burden, even not perfectly must seem great. Is it permanent," he asked curiously. "This doesn't upset or bother me. But you don't owe anyone an explanation you know. Your privacy, your choice. I appreciate you telling me of course, but you didn't have to. If I might ask, why did you you tell me," he queried.
20. Cole looked up, slightly disoriented and distracted as he pulled himself out his focused state. "Ah, hello there Caresse. Nope. Please feel free," he said nodding to his side. He had no concerns about spacing and contact though he knew she did. "Are you feeling better?," he asked curiously. "I noted your lack of presence around the campus and at meal times the last few days. And given your bike didn't seem to move, I deduced you were ill or wished to be alone in your room after your appointment. You certainly seem happy today," he concluded with a smile. He might not know her too well but he was a fairly intelligent fellow. "And no, you're not interrupting anything important. Just some notes I was making," he said politely putting the device down so he could focus his attention on the conversation and not appear rude. "
21. Dark Star settled down for a moment. "That might buy us some time then," he said. He nodded to Harrier. "It is called the Gorgon. It normally assimilates whole planets. If it destroyed this last one, it was probably as a means from keeping it from the Drones. I have dealt with 'her' many times. She is immensely formidable. I've helped evacuate several worlds over the years. 'She' scares entire star empires. Most beings flee, and rightly so, if it is suspected she is heading their way." He pondered a moment. "I cannot stress enough the danger this could represent. If there is even the slightest chance she could head here, it needs to be verified." He glanced at Harrier; these were 'his' people after all. "Should I transport the Drones somewhere?"
22. Derrick nodded, smiling at his ladies. "I think I had her as a student briefly," he mused. "I'm certain Dok's tests will be fine." He nodded thoughtfully. "Well, even if she had no special needs or concerns, whoever is going to look after her while we are 'busy' is going to need to be a capable individual themselves. Maybe not quite up our level perhaps but certainly someone beyond the norm." He felt safe her on Sanctuary of course. But this was his daughter he was talking about. And there were plenty of threats out there. "Just to be careful I guess."
23. I'd join in (playing with other is the point; doing solo sucks/is boring)...but would likely want to make a new char. The one I have is far from smartly built. *shrug* So...starting over from lvl 1 but least I oculd make something the group needs.
24. Dark Star snapped his head around quickly at Ms. A's explanation. He got very still. If his friends had been here they would have recognized the rare signs of true worry. "By the stars," he whispered. "This is significant problem...and a bit unusual as well. Where? What are the coordinates of the system? And how long ago did this take place? It will only take a moment to verify...but we _need_ to know which direction 'she' is headed." He quickly stood up. "I promise a full account will be made, but...this is a priority on a level that overshadows this damaged vessel."
