  1. "Yes," said the young man, cocking his head as he looked Erin over. Erin certainly recognized that face from the news, Patient Zero had been famous back before everything had gone away. "Have we met before?" Alex's mom was a bit surprised at the invisible teenager who'd evidently been riding her car, but she was evidently used to superpowered shenaniganry around the house. For her part, Mrs. Harcourt didn't seem at all pleased at her student. "Mr. Koyama, what have I told you about sneaking around in that nano-suit of yours?" she asked the young man. "If you're going to do it, don't get caught! It does nothing for your reputation or mine if you can't sneak around successfully in that thing. And it's rude." She beamed at the kids. "Anyway, let's not let this spoil the moment." Addressing Mike, she said, "Well, that's up to you. I know Erin here has had a long trip, and the rest of you probably don't want to lug your bags around all over campus. Would you rather leave your bags in your rooms, or go touring now?"
  2. Sounds good. What does Phantom actually do/what is she doing when all this happens? :)
  3. The van pulled to a stop as Mrs. Harcourt walked up alongside it, still calling with increasing irritation for Mr. Koyama. No sooner had the van stopped and Mike and Alex's mom turned off the engine than Mr. Koyama showed himself by leaping off the roof of the van! The invisible figure on the roof shifted neatly back to visibility as he landed next to Mike's window, a cheerful smile on his face. The young Asian man was handsome and cheerful, an insouciant look on his partially-goggled face as he executed a perfect little somersault on landing. "Welcome to the Claremont Academy!" he said cheerfully with just a slight Japanese accent. "I'm your assistant tour guide!"
  4. http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2093200/ "Hee hee, I'm so sneaky! Won't they be surprised when I jump down and show them what a Claremont kid can do! This is the best idea ever."
  5. Wow! Leet can't beat that roll at all. Just as her mother parked, Psyche put together some noises she'd heard as they rumbled through the lot and came to the unsettling realization that there was something invisible lurking on the roof!
  6. Have an HP, Heritage! Grim had better think fast. :o
  7. Columbia stared into her 'daughter''s eyes, reaching out a massive hand to her. Columbia was a solid seven feet and well-built; she could probably have palmed Grim's face without too much trouble. "All I ever wanted to make a better world for my family. That's why I did everything. That's not such a bad thing, is it?" And then the bullet caromed off her head. "Stay away from our veterans, you #(@!" The crowd of angry locals as been gathering for some little time now outside the cemetery gates, and one of them has a gun.
  8. "Disappear. Move." The joke over, Avenger was seemingly back to his firm, uncompromising self. "Stage a fight with my colleague. If willing," he added. Perhaps not so uncompromising after all. "Wesley. Your powers; do they work on dead living things? Can you rearrange all flesh, or just the flesh of what still lives?"
  9. I do not actually know how to investigate crimes in any meaningful way. I hope there are people there I can whale on until they talk. "Yes. Best if I perform work alone. May not match the ethical standards of some." With her clothes rearranged, the masked Avenger turned and began stalking straight for the door.
  10. And I can! I've given you guys a little boost in Bayview...
  11. his is the OOC thread for Psyche, Wander, and Phalanx arriving at Claremont. Gimmie a Notice check, y'all. Ooh, your first die roll, I feel so honored.
  12. Bayview was a lovely neighborhood in the summertime, and the gorgeous rolling hills that sited the Claremont Academy was situated right in one of the most beautiful parts of the region. As the van carrying the three teenage superhumans headed up the drive to campus, the rolling hills they drove over on the way gave them occasional glimpses of the beautiful 19th century style campus. The big double gates were set in a big portico-style gate tower overrun by ivy made tired by the summer's heat, and the arriving students could just make out the burnished plaque that bore the school's name and motto on the outside wall. “The Claremont Academy for the Gifted, Scientia Potentia Est." Waiting for them at the security booth just inside the front gate was a a friendly-faced woman of middle age, wearing a sensible linen suit and a smile. "Hey folks!" she said after knocking on the window to get it rolled down. "I'm Mrs. Stephanie Harcourt, head science teacher around here. There's a snap faculty meeting been called, and what with the summer session and such that leaves just me and my science project to show you around the place for right now. Go on up and park in family parking," she said, pointing into the big lot that the gate opened up to. "I'll meet you up there..." As the van moved to pull up, she looked around and called in a teacher voice, "Hey, Mr. Koyama! What did I say about showing off?"
  13. Yes, well, I am aware that I should not play a character who constantly plays psychotic pranks on his classmates in the name of good sportsmanship. But once might be fun, just as a way of learning to adapt to the local culture. "Wait, you mean you don't enjoy being tricked into traveling back in time to the dinosaur era in order to get your hands on a single sliver of Serpent People gold? Oh." :(
  14. We'll give Shaen a little longer yet.
  15. Yay! We're glad things are better for you, Mark. :)
  16. A gravelly voice spoke not six inches from Pompadour's ear. "Appreciate the concern." Avenger had contrived to get behind Pompadour in the confusion, the big-haired Lothario now between him and the sinkhole in the street nearby. "Glad you came through." Avenger and Pompadour were getting a lot of positive attention from the crowd...well, Pompadour was absorbing much of it. Between one thing and another, Avenger was hard to love. "Should do this for a living."
  17. "It is tricky." Avenger admitted, his face implacable behind his mask but for a faint suggestion that he was laughing. Sobering, he continued speaking. "Representative of mine has spoken to Pitt and secured his cooperation." He drove one fist into another at that, letting the two other superheroes believe what they wanted about the nature of how he'd persuaded the other vampires to cooperate. "Must allow Pitt to think that you have been killed. Wesley will provide evidence. Money will be provided then for Imperator residents. Have faith you stealthy enough to visit friends even afterwards."
  18. I worry that I'm on the verge of something breaking in my life. Scarab's around less and less these days, and sometimes I think she's the only real human friend I've got. As for the vampire community...something's changing. Maybe it was when I helped Melinda deal with that beast-man attack earlier in the month; I'm starting to be concerned that she's noticing my abilities. If she realizes everything I'm learning, that I could probably take her in a fight and that I'm building up friends in the community; what will she do? Daywalkers with power die. People who challenge Melinda's authority, even indirectly, die. I certainly don't want to die! But wouldn't it be ironic, after all this, if it's not balancing the two worlds that kills me, but one? There's only so much anyone can take when it comes to inhumanity. Speaking of which, I've gotten word from friends that Claudia's on her way back into town after her trip to Europe. Should be fun.
  19. Three unspent PP? Yay! I'd like to raise my Will save to +11, please. Been letting Scarab play around in your head, eh? Or are you trying to prevent that? Updated by Doc.
  20. The hard part is bouncing between maintaining a respect for high camp and...Legiondickery.
  21. If I can do anything to help out, just lemme know. :D
  22. So, Hanover? Perhaps Dark Star comes over one afternoon to let Doctor Archeville analyze his powers...
  23. But I was going to use an anime pic and everything... Well, the character is a stranded time-traveler from the Freedom Legion, an homage to LOSH's Element Lad. He's my love letter to the High Silver Age, the way Avenger is my love letter to the late Bronze Age. (He talks like this! And wonders why everyone in the past mumbles so much!)
  24. Just don't forget about all those new Claremont students sneakin' in, MBCE. ;)
