  1. Herid and Seren, are you going to post reactions to what you got from your Notice checks?
  2. Lynn looks slightly uncomfortable at the mention of school. "Uh, yeah. Well to be honest Kizzy (and it's nice to meet you, by the way), I sorta dropped out; actually, I just left, since you have to be sixteen to actually drop out. That was four years ago." Her head droops with embarrassment. "But, at least I finally got a job and my driver's license, and I'm gonna try and get my GED pretty soon." She shrugs and grins. "So things are lookin' up, I guess. How 'bout you, you still in school?"
  3. I like it, partly because it's different (I love uneasy alliances between heroes and villains) and partly because Grim always seems to be hanging out with bad guys and is maybe a bit too relaxed around them; this could add an interesting flavor to future reactions if the three girls all end up on the same team ;)
  4. Grim nods and mutely follows, disappointed with herself, but really, what could she do? A guy that size, with powers and a robot suit? She's lucky she wasn't splattered like a bug on the windshield when he roared up through the roof and into the sky! The continual mentioning of these weird not-quite-half-siblings of hers continues to frighten and intrigue her, and despite herself she has to ask a few questions as they make their way out of the cavern. "Mister, or just, Foreshadow? Tell me more about the Parker children; what are they like, what are their powers and abilities?"
  5. The fog clears, and the world of heat and fire returns; Grim shakes her head blearily as she comes to in her mentor's arms. "Ah crap, I was hoping this was a nightmare." Following Nightrival's instructions, she quickly looks up, down and all around, eyes and ears straining as she tries to get her head around the sense of wrongness she felt earlier. He's playing with us; there's always a way out, if we can find it.
  6. Yo, Mistah Menace! You gonna post over heah or what? 8-)
  7. Lenny's smiles falters for a second, and he looks slightly ashamed. "Ah, actually, no; my office is in another part of town, kind of a hike from here, actually. However, cards..I do have." He reaches into his jacket and pulls out an inexpensive silver case, which he efficiently snaps open. "Here ya go." The card is not all that impressive, cheap linen cardstock with a raised blue font which reads: Leonard Stein Talent Coordinator Cell: 973-555-1968 The only address is Freedom City post office box, which doesn't exactly reek of class  He nods and follows her, casually looking over his shoulder as he escorts her to the bar with a gentle hand on her elbow, his voice once again low. "I am currently representing a very talented young lady who specializes in acquistions; very classy, very discrete. Quiet girl, doesn't talk too much, but they say actions speak louder than words, am I right?" He smiles ingratiatingly as he sips his drink and continues chewing his gum. "Whisper. She calls herself Whisper." He flips open his cellphone and lets his finger hover over the keypad. "I can arrange a meeting right now, if you like; could have her here in half an hour, less even." Lenny cocks and eyebrow and grins.
  8. So this girl with weird black tendrily things has shown up, and eveyone is chatting about superpowers, and Lynn has never felt more stupid in her entire life; true, she could leap into the conversation by totally blowing her cover, but that would actually be pretty darn dumb. But they're both girl's my own age, and this Kizzy probably has really cool powers, and she could join Team Nightrival if Velocity would just frickin' ask her... "So!" Much to her horror, Lynn's mouth has decided to take action. "Ah, hi Kizzy, my name is Lynn." She does this sort of stiff wave that's just short of jazz hands. Dear God, strike me down with a cruise missile now. Having now plunged into the conversation, Lynn can't help but continue like some lame high school journalism student. "Like many young people, I am...fascinated by heroes; what kind of powers do you have, and do you have any prefered fighting styles?" Shut up, shut up, you sound like the yearbook staff!
  9. Hmm, okay. Well we can have something similar happen without a player character involved; Warmonger could still run the baddies if he chose, or myself or another GM. Maybe I will update the thread in Campaign discussion, looking for an (un)friendly GM to put us through our paces. :D
  10. Maybe I should have said 'blacked out' - I meant to imply it was temporary.
  11. Kevin doesn't really see anything out of the ordinary, it looks to be the usual college campus scene; he thinks he recognizes some of the students, maybe from a dimly-remembered science class, but he thought one or two of them had already graduated. Oliver notices that despite their seemingly relaxed and casual attitude, the young men are all wearing baseball caps, sunglasses or both, and are actually looking around quite a lot, unobtrusively checking out the scene. Megan sees all that Oliver sees, but also notes they are all toting identical black backpacks, cheap, tacky and seemingly brand new.
  12. For a moment, Grim is completely engulfed in flames. the force of the blast causing her to black out; she looks impossibly small as she drops towards the floor like a broken doll, trailing wisps of smoke....
  13. Ok, I think I'm gonna trust in Nightrival for now :o
  14. Lt Colby appears to be quite troubled by what the others have said, and silently looks off into the deeper woods for some time. "This sounds like old magic; I don't like it." She walks back to Ginny and lies down on the ground beside her, latex-gloved hands folded on her chest, staring up into the sky. "We're gonna have to go in, with something of the girl's for a sympathetic connection; I also think some sort of binding ritual might be a good idea." She tilts her head back and peers back into the woods, which look upside down from her new perspective. "If you wander off the path in the woods, you have to stick together."
  15. Lynn smiles when she comes up for air. “You big baby, you’re totally fine. Not a scratch on you, just like me.†She holds out her right forearm for his scrutiny. “See? I should have bloody gashes all over me from that, but my skin’s changed in the last few months.†She pinches herself hard, but there’s no welting. “So weird; but, good when you’re out fighting crime, I guess.†Still lying on top of Ren, she strokes her chin thoughtfully. "Well, the cats are the first line of defense, but yeah, there are other dangers." Lynn looks over her shoulder and indicates the general direction of the rest of the hotel with a toss of her head. "Two entrances into this suite, both booby-trapped." She turns back to Ren and grins devilishly before giving him another quick kiss on the lips. "Deadfalls in the ceiling if you open the doors, fifty pounds each. Carmine from down on six rigged them up for me; you'd like him, he's a giant insect. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to start dinner." She kisses him again (a nice one), and with surprising ease wriggles her way out of his arms, stands and poses dramatically. "The Amazing Grim-Kazar's most astounding escape!" With a laugh, she darts into the bathroom, and shortly can be heard dragging something fairly heavy back into the bedroom. "I don't have a kitchen or stove, so I have to get more creative." Soon she hauls a large cardboard box into room, having temporarily shifted her party dress into a pair of coveralls for the job. “Whew! Okay, you have a choice of entrées-†The box is marked ‘Meals, Ready-To-Eat, Kosher’ in modern military stenciling; Lynn pulls out several smaller boxes from inside and sets them aside “I recommend the Chicken Mediterranean and Cheese Tortellini, but the Old World Stew is also good. They all come with chemical heaters, napkins and a plastic spoon, and a few snacks. And the hot cocoa is amazing.†Lynn pulls out a Florentine Lasagna and starts unpacking it, her coveralls shifting back to her dress as she occupies herself. “I’ll get mine started, then start on yours.†With a proud little smile, she sits on the cushions near the coffee table and gets to work.
  16. One of these I need to get a Mac laptop so I can load up Windows 98 and run Thief and Thief 2; the first one is my all-time favorite PC game, and I've never been able to run the second I would love to run a D&D game set in the Thief universe, with it's mixture of magic and technology, and warring religious factions. :bat: "My hammer awaits thee!"
  17. Ah, but of course! Thanks for the tip, think I'll take another stab at Grim tonight.
  18. "Oh dear god..." Lynn stops her pedaling, her quest for hot dogs now forgotten when her stomach goes sour as she stares across the park. "She's here." The sight of Velocity, all shiny and perfect and surrounded by boys, makes Lynn insanely angry for no logical reason; she knows she's prettier than the attention-loving speedster (way prettier), she can probably kick her butt (most likely not true), and her outfit is banana yellow. Banana yellow. "Oh wait, we're supposed to be on the same team now...yippee." The young off-the-clock vigilante sighs deeply. Maybe she should try a little harder not to be such a hag to her; after all, one of them might have to save the other's life some day. With great reluctance, Lynn rides across the park towards the small gathering, acutely aware of the fact that while Velocity probably does not perspire (one of her most amazing powers!), Lynn on the other hand has been exerting herself all day, has long since sweated away her roll-on, and has considerable amounts of grease on her hands, legs and face from helping a fellow messenger change a flat. Truly, this will be a meeting of titans! She rolls to a stop just outside the circle of hormones, and realizes that since she is in fact not on duty herself, the introduction will be weird and/or pointless. Whatever; just say 'hi' and try to remember she's a human being under all...that. Still perched on her rough-looking bike, Lynn removes her helmet, tucks it under her arm and clears her throat. "Ahem, uh, hi! Wow, Velocity, right here in Liberty Park! Who knew, right?" Then she remembers all the girl has done for Freedom City, all the people she must have helped and saved, and she sighs. “Seriously, you’re very cool; it’s cool that this city has someone like you looking out for it.†I better get a big prize for this some day.
  19. Howdy folks, Heritage here! Can I get a Notice roll from everyone?

    College Visit

A small gathering of students is watching the frisbee game with vague interest, all young men with backpacks seated in a loose semi-circle on the grass adjacent to Cole Hall, the science building about a hundred feet away from Baker Hall where the student group is currently headed.
  21. Once I get a chance to read over all of this, we'll get started :D
  22. Lenny laughs, has another sip of his Jack and Coke, and then leans in to speak in an almost conspiratorial tone. "Well Letta, I'm in public relations, personal management, that kinda of thing. Most of my clients are attractive young women, like yourself, but I handle guys, too." He winks and grins. "I'm always looking for new talent, always looking to find clients for my talent; all kinda jobs, sleek, sexy and dangerous." He pauses to look over his shoulder, then leans back in. "And unless my expert eyes deceive me, you are in the market for talent." The slick young man leans back, grins and cracks his knuckles as he chews his gum loudly. "Am I right? 'Cause I think I am."
  23. I think this sounds really cool; the idea of a firefight erupting in broad daylight, ala the bank heist in Heat, sounds really good.
