  1. Awesome, indeed! I really look forward to the nightmare to come ;)
  2. Grim looks at Rival like he's nuts as she points at her massive bruise. "I'm not helping clean up anything; I have a dent in my face the size of New Hampshire!" She looks between Monty and her mentor and sighs. "Okay, but no heavy lifting." She crouches down and starts picking up some papers off the floor, clutching a loose pile of them to her chest. "Don't worry, Monty; whatever it is, we'll get it back."

Congrats, Dr A! Well deserved :)
  4. From out of nowhere, there's a rather embarrassed cough, and a familiar female voice seems to hang in the air. "Now don't be mad at me, but I kinda decided to tag along tonight." Suddenly the slight figure of Grimalkin appears crouched on the floor, in her usual black and midnight blue leather outfit; she's rubbing her ankle with a gloved hand, and behind her domino mask what's visible of her face is tinged bright pink. She has a hard time maintaining eye contact with her friend and mentor as she continues with a slight shrug. "I saw you on patrol, and I wanted a chance to just, y'know, see you in action without you having to worry about me getting hurt." She looks up at the sealed trapdoor overhead. "Not one of my best ideas, it turns out."
  5. Okay, if you don't like this reason for Grim to be there, let me know; I can always delete it and post again ;)

    Your's is so classy...and Colonial :)
  7. Oh dude, can Grim join you in this? This sounds sweet as hell! :D
  8. Faye frowned herself. "The natives are gettin' restless, though I can't says I blame her meself. Right, come on, without a sound." Moving as quietly as she is able, she attempts to close the distance to the guards as quickly as possible, eager to have this job done with and be back outside. Unseen to human eyes, her fingers flex in anticipation of the fight to come.
  9. Sorry, I was kind of spacing on this game the last few days; my bad! Holy crap, Grim is on a roll these last two days! Check out this Untrained Arcane Lore check! Am I correct in assuming I shouldn't post IC just yet?
  10. Ooh, Dr A, you've inspired me to do some lists of me own! Top Ten Dramas: Angel Battlestar Galactica (new only) Bones Buffy Columbo Doctor Who (all eras) Firefly Foyle's War Kolchak: The Night Stalker (new one looked awful) Veronica Mars Top Ten Comedies: Arrested Development The Carol Burnett Show Curb Your Enthusiasm The Dick Van Dyke Show Father Ted Fawlty Towers Monty Python's Flying Circus The Office (UK and US) SCTV Seinfeld Top Ten Animated (I know it's not a genre, so sue me): The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle Batman (all Diniverse versions, including Beyond) Family Guy Futurama Johnny Quest Justice League (JL and JLU) Kim Possible Ranma 1/2 Scooby-Doo (pre-Srappy) The Simpsons Some shows didn't make the cut because of later season problems (Alias, South Park, X-Files) or because they're too new for me to be 100% sure (Avatar, Chuck, Heroes, Sarah Connor) or because I don't know them well enough, but want to learn (Star Trek, Twilight Zone).
  11. My sister and I are working our way through the season 2 DVDs, and I have to say this show is heading into my top ten of all time by leaps and bounds. I love that it's a show about very smart people who really care about each other and love their job; working with Booth the squints would be my dream job, if I had the right kind of brain :D
  12. Thanks, it was fun to write; I was working on the basics of that all day at work, and prayed I'd get a decent roll to go with it Take it away, Nightrival! :P
  13. I'm including Grim's Attractive bonus in her Diplomacy roll, partly because I think the sight of a pretty girl with her face all mashed up would tug at a guy's heartstrings EDIT: Also just made a minor grammatical adjustment.
  14. From her place on the couch, Grim could see her boss wasn't getting through to the frightened man, and could she blame him for being scared? That freak had practically caved in her face! Still, they needed something to go on, or else she was pulverized for nothing. Grim nods as she holds the ice pack to the left side of her face. "I get that. That's all anyone wants these days: keep you head down, keep your mouth shut, and everything will be okay. If you want to live in fear for the rest of your life, that's fine, but it doesn't sound like much of a life to me" She sits up and the pain gets sharper, but she soldiers on. "It's like...you swallowed a big hunk of glass that sits in your gut, killing you a little bit each day; you know it's there, you know it's killing you, but at least it's a pain you know, right? Better to just deal with that than to take a risk, to actually think that your life could ever be better." She rises unsteadily, steps over to Monty and points out the window with the ice pack. "But everyone else out there has a stomach full of glass, too; kids, old folks, guys like you. That's a whole lot of people bleeding on the inside out of fear, and I'll be honest with you, that's not a world I want to live in anymore." Grim gently rests her hand on the man's arm; she smiles up at him, and even though she's battered, bloody and half her face is a swollen purple bruise, there is a ray of hope in her eyes. "So how 'bout it, Monty? Those punks did all this, and they got away; just give us something to go on, anything, and we'll go get 'em." She gives him a crooked smile. "As soon as my head changes back from an eggplant."
  15. I hate to say this, but in lieu of Cos' long absence (I hope all is well ), could someone assume the reins of this storyline?
  16. That might be a good idea. And welcome!

Switched from the creepy possessed face to a sweet, vaguely psychedelic picture of a sleeping kitty. And welcome, Son of Sweden!
  18. She will definitly give it a try; sometimes it's nice to bring a pretty girl along ;)
  19. Okay, one last question on this based on your example; 4 ranks of Container gets me 20pp to spend on all the powers underneath it, but if I include the 2 APs, it looks like you spent 22 pp. Am I missing something? And what does 'PF' stand for?
  20. Ah, okay - clearly I didn't actually understand how Containers work; I may well use this breakdown with several modifications as a basis of for her write-up. Many thanks!
  21. Okay, doing a little math here, I can see this would not work since 10 ranks of Prehensile Hair (I actually don't want any more than that, it gets ludicrous at high levels) only cost 10 pp, which really limits everything else you put in there if it was a Container. However, adding a Limitation of 'Hair Only' to things like Super-Strength still works to limit her effectiveness, because if you turn off the PH she loses access to everything anyway.
  22. Hmm, are we also present at Catherine's house, like standing behind the captain and the cadet, or will we get a separate intro? Just curious.
  23. That's basically why I wanted to do it, to reflect that vulnerability; if a baddie targets her hair with a Nullify, she's kinda S.O.L.; that being said, is it actually a good idea? Other than having a few ranks in Protection due to a well-made costume, she just has her wits and her skills; I did have this idea for her to have Pheromones as sort of a social control/back-up power ("Breaks the ice at parties!"), but that might be kind of a stretch.
  24. Once I started writing up her character, I realized why it was so easy to picture Morena working on art; Rachael Leigh Cook played the art nerd Laney Boggs in She's All That! Oh well, I still think it works well for her character :D
  25. Character Name: Lt. Morena Colby Power Level: 4 (60 pps) Height: 5' 6" Weight: 128 lbs. Hair: Light Brown Eyes: Brown Description: An attractive young woman in her late twenties, Morena dresses fairly conservatively on the job in jacket, slacks and sensible shoes, but she does her best to look stylish within the limits of her budget. She usually wears one or two pieces of jewelry of her own design, typically a necklace and bracelet in a naturalistic design. Off duty, she indulges her passion for tie-dye t-shirts, baggy cargo pants and sandals, switching to clunky boots in cooler weather, with her hair worn up in haphazard fashion if she's working on an art project. History: The Colbys are a police dynasty in Freedom City, a proud tradition that Morena resisted for many years; brought up in a working-class Lutheran family, she found herself yearning for a more passionate spiritual experience, and devoured books on other countries and cultures from a very young age. Against her parents' wishes, she left home to attend Freedom College, eventually earning a dual Bachelors degree in Anthropology and Comparative Religion; while in school, she also became very interested in indigenous art from around the world, as well as West African drumming. Ultimately she remained a (partially lapsed) Lutheran, but she feels her explorations of world culture have filled a hole in heart that the faith of parents was never able to do. She also experimented with transcendental mediation (and truth be told, a few hallucinogens), and has gotten quite good at self-inducing a trance. However, tragedy soon led her life down a different path; shortly after she finished school, Morena's father, a long-serving officer on the Southside, was kidnapped and ritualistically murdered by a drug-dealing cult linked to the Mayombe. Her knowledge of the cult and its symbols allowed her to help the police find him, but not in time to save his life. Deciding to apply her passion to the family tradition of service, Morena enrolled in the police academy two weeks later, and she rose swiftly through the ranks until she finally made detective. Morena has developed many interests to help her cope with the stresses of police work. In her off-hours, she likes to work in her studio, a converted garage behind the West End house she bought two years ago (she rents out the second floor apartment); she prefers oil painting, sculpture and pottery, and also teaches them to children at a local community center on weekends, in addition to meditation classes for their parents. She also still drums with a percussion group based on the Freedom College campus once a month, and owns several djembes. And at least twice a year, she goes with friends on a week-long backpacking trip, typically to Upstate New York or the Carolinas.
