  1. Oh crap! Well, this is one of the dangers of being a nigh-invisible superheroine; Grim had no way of knowing what sort of attack Nano was going to use, and focused as he was on consuming the car he may well have lost track of her. I forget if Nano has a way to see her or not when she's invisible, but otherwise I'll take the hit and pray for a good Reflex save, because she would go for the nearest drones Oh, this can't be good; do I have a fresh hero point for this thread, and have I spent it yet? I forgot to add the +2 for cover, so technically it's a 14, I guess.
  2. Gossamer turns to the miniature hero in surprise; she has so much to learn about superhero culture, so many names and faces to remember. At first she doesn't know what to make of him; is he always like that? Is he happy or bitter? Does it drive him crazy when women tell him he's cute (because she's sure they do), or does he bask in it? Finally she decides to stop analyzing things so much and just talk to him; she walks over and offers her index finger to be shaken, hoping not to insult the man. "Hi Rusty. I'm sorry to say that I don't you by reputation, but I'm still very new to being heroic, as it were, so please don't take offense." Estelle sighs and moves to take a 'seat' nearby, crossing her long legs and using some of her hair to prop herself up like a crude chair. She turns back to Rusty and smiles sympathetically. "So I'm going to ask you one of the three questions you're asked every time someone meets you; are you always small, or do you have control over it?"
  3. Hey, I'm trying to realistically play a girl with a 9th grade education here! I was also hoping to motivate a brainflash of some kind in NR, the way sidekicks do.
  4. Yipe! Well either we wrap this one up, which I think might be for the best, or we cut to the next morning; up to you, bro.
  5. I'm more than happy to wait for your return :)
  6. Whisper looks vaguely at the drinks offered, her silver pupils tracking each like a lifeless camera lens; finally she looks at Letta with her dead eyes and answers in her standard monotone. "I will have water." The new arrival stares at the drawing for a few moments, then swivels her gaze between the room's other occupents. "I have moved through the space and was not seen; where is the money you wish to steal?"
  7. Senor, I am just trying to help! :D
  8. It's all good. Us North Americans might see you in the chat more, which will be nice :)
  9. By the way, here's my first attempt as Gos' costume - just imagine a lot more hair floating about her like she's underwater.
  10. I am tempted to let you just because you're avatar is so freakin' cool! I personally don't mind, but let's see what everyone else thinks.
  11. Mmm, I still think it needs fixing , Dr A, unless you're trying to lead CW and Velo inside. (Italics added for emphasis.)
  12. After warmly introducing herself ("But you can call me Grim; everyone does."), Grim becomes uncharacteristically quiet as her boss rattles out the details of the plan, the whole time thinking about the new ability she's developed...and hasn't told him about yet. She hasn't told anyone about the goo, partly because it's so weird, and partly out of guilt; she didn't discover she could pass through tight spaces until after her and Nightrival's terrible ordeal at the hands of Warden. If only it had manifested sooner, she could have saved them so much suffering... There's no time for moping right now. You've got your orders, now go follow them like the good soldier you are. Maybe you'll get your chance to show him tonight, right? The slightly-built heroine fades into nothingness once more and quietly makes her way around the back, searching for any available opening no matter how small, but still keeping her eyes open for doors on general principal.
  13. Without opening her eyes, she reaches up and runs her fingers thorugh his soft synthetic hair; so strange to think that this sweet boy, who holds her and loves her for what she is, is not 'real', at least the way most people define the word. But she knows the truth, that the soul that dances in his metal heart like an electric flame is as real as any other man's, and that's what matters. She smiles and murmurs while half-asleep, "I love you, too, Pinocchio; you've always been a real boy to me."
  14. Grim has parked her keister on the floor, crosslegged and directly across from Nightrival, resting her head on her fists. "Yeah, 'ciao' is definitly Italian, and so was da Vinci. And it's the Leaning Tower of Pisa, so that's Italian, too." She frowns. "So he's psychotic and he's obsessed with Italy - nice to know." She gets up and starts to pace a bit, shaping her thoughts with her expressive hands. "So we're supposed to combine 'da Vinci' and 'Pisa' somehow, and somehow that's going to give us the numbers? Man, this guy is annoying!" She cups her hands and yells up at the ceiling. "Ya hear me?! You're annoying!" And why are we taunting the psychotic who controls the room again? Somewhat mortified by her own outburst, Grim resumes pacing, a little bit quicker than before. "Okay, so numbers can equal letters, just like on when you dial on a phone; twenty-six letters gives us twenty-six numbers, and we've got one through six on the hatches, which gives us A through..." She stops to count letters. "F, A through F. That's one possibility." She paces some more, and then stops again, clapping her hands and then pointing at Nightrival. "Ooh, and Roman numbers can be letters, too! And Romans are Italians! Let's see, one through six are I, II, III, IV, V and VI...so we have a V, but still no P for Pisa. Grr!" She throws herself on the floor in frustration, head back in her hands.
  15. Yargh, still not caught up yet! There are only so many hours in a day :(
  16. Grim smiles and shakes the new guy's hand warmly. "Well actually I've been working with Rival for a few months now; I was doing so-so in the Fens by myself, but I knew I could really use some help, y'know, pick up some tips and pointers and stuff, so I sort of tracked him down here in Southside." She pretends to look over her shoulder for any eavesdroppers, and leans in to whisper conspiratorially. "I've kinda been his sidekick, but don't let him know I said that, okay?" She grins and winks and is starting to unpack the chicken when Monty shows up, which causes her to pretty much drop everything to give Monty a big hug and a quick peck on the cheek. "Hey, big guy! It's so good to see you! How's everything?" Her warm mood goes just a bit chilly when Velocity breezes in, looking all fabulous; Grim's sensitive nose picks up just a hint of sea salt, margaritas and just a whiff of suntan lotion from the young speedster, which curdles her stomach, because she smells money. What, she couldn't tear herself away from whatever beach party she was at all day in Cancun? She's like the fastest girl alive, how can she be late for anything? Then she picks up the intoxicating smell of baked goods wafting through the air, and catches herself involuntarily licking her lips. Oh man, if those taste even half as good as they smell, I am in big trouble. Trying her darnedest to be civil, Grim forces a smile and indicates the food with a wave of her hand. "Um, feel free to help yourself to some chicken...those cookies smell fantastic." She takes a deep breath and holds out her hand. "Hi, I'm Grimalkin, 'Grim' for short, and this is Hub; I think we all fight crime." Just then there's a knock at the door, and she turns to their host. "Monty, do you want to get that or should I?"
  17. April 19th, 2008 At first it was just a name I came up with that I thought sounded all cool and mysterious, the perfect name for a tough chick who can break into any bank in the world and get away scott free. But then I started to think about what it might symbolize, the idea of silence or words too soft to be heard. And then I thought about death, and it scared the hell out of me. I'm not the scrappy lil' street fighter I wish I was; I'm learning a lot from Rival, and he's been great and all, but I still can't hold my own in a fair fight against anyone more powerful than Joe or Jane Average, so I of course I try to avoid fighting fair whenever possible But what if you were sufficiently creepy that no one wanted to fight you, like you were contagious or something? And it occurred to me that to most people, and certainly most bad guys, there is nothing scarier than death; we fear death almost like it was something you can catch or pass on to someone else, like bad luck or a really bad cold. And that's when Whisper was truly born.
  18. Grim had put a lot of thought into the look and attitude of this new persona, and she hoped it had the intended effect. She got to the address a little later than she had planned because her cloaking ability only worked if she didn't move too fast, and in her new guise, she would really stand out in a crowd. Her skin is now so pale as to be almost white, her hair worn short and the color of silver, as are the pupils and irises of her eyes, though the whites are now jet black. A cold face, blank yet with a hint of cruelty, and a body almost impossibly thin and athletic, yet still possessing an alien beauty. The overall effect suggests stillness and death, and goes well with the name Whisper. Still invisible to the naked eye, Whisper knocks on the door and calls out in a soft emotionless voice, "I am Whisper. I am here." I think I just gave myself goosebumps. Once the door is open, she will become visible, bow her head slightly, and move noiselessly into the room.
  19. Sorry, I was so busy being glib in my post that I forgot to give you an Intelligence check, not that it will get me much.
  20. The sight of Ren being hit is painful, and though she is still very frightened, Grim finally manages to rouse herself to action; she sprints to the nearest drone and attempts to bury her claws in it's side while remaining concealed, hoping to God that Ren's okay.
  21. Changed her costume color to blue and white, after seeing how hard it was to design an attractive costume in lavender :(
  22. PP spending for Grim in June: 1 pp = 4 ranks in Acrobatics, maxing her out at 12 ranks 1 pp = 4 ranks in Stealth, getting her up to 8 ranks 2 pp = 2 ranks of Evasion "She was like a ghost, man - one minute she was there, the next, pfft! She was gone, bro."
  23. Sorry for the posting delay, new part-time job sucked away my whole weekend - look for posting tomorrow!
  24. I've gotten a bit behind on all my Southside threads, look for more posting tomorrow.
