  1. "Jack and Coke for me, thanks." Lenny smiles and waits patiently for his drink. The young man nods. "That you have; one of the many perks of bein' a lovely lady. And speakin' of..." The drinks arrive and Lenny raises his glass. "Here's to hoping your luck changes asap." He wipes his mouth on the back of his hand, and grins. "So what's your story, Miss...?"
  2. The Queen nods tersely and follows right on his Ghost's heels, eager to get the stones and get out of town; maybe Lisbon or Saint-Tropez would be a nice place to relax until the heat dies down...
  3. Good question. I could see this going one of two ways: 1. As Jack suggested in the original thread, someone might freak out over Kizzy's appearance, i.e. they see her lying in the park and have a minor freak out over her black tendrily things, which leads to a classic 'first we fight, then we're friends' kinda deal. 2. An outside agency causes us all to respond to a threat at the same time. I'm now thinking of the scene at the end of The Incredibles when the Underminer's mole ship bursts out of the ground It could be an NPC (which I suppose I could run) or a villainous PC. Which do we prefer? I could go wither way, but I think I lean towards the second; other options are of course available, too.
  4. Man I find this program fun yet infuriating; for instance, I could not for the life of me find skin tone anywhere, so I had to do it myself in Photoshop. Other than fact that she looks like she has a mild case of jaundice and the gloves are a bit off, this is pretty darn close to how I see Grim (albeit shorter):
  5. When Catherine starts her ritual, Colby comes over to watch, fascinated by the preparations involved; long after Ginny has seemingly lost interest, the lieutenant is still intensely focused on the PI's magic, almost to the exclusion of all else. Colby blinks and shakes her head. "Wait, what happened? Did you get anything?" She stands and turns to Ginny. "Did either of you get anything?"
  6. Lynn's concerned voice calls out from the other room. 'Wait, what?" She comes running back in (an impressive feat in the heels she's wearing), screaming. "Oh my god! Babies, no! No!" She pries DB and Plaque off of Ren (Mafia has hidden herself under the bed in the fracas), and takes the hissing balls of fur and claws and puts them in the other room, slamming the door shut on them. "You stay in there!" She then turns her attention back to Ren. "Oh honey, are you okay?" In an instant, Lynn is on the floor beside him, checking him for injuries as she kisses him all over his face, including the lips. "Oh baby, I'm so...mmm...so sorry! They just...mmm....they're just not used to me...mmm...having people over! Are you hurt?"
  7. I forgot to type 'Acrobatics check' at Invisible Castle, but the numbers should all match up with the Acro bonus on her sheet.
  8. Something about this set-up was all wrong, but Grim really didn't have the time to sort it all out; she needed to survive and make sure Rival survived, too. Oh god, I hate it when he does it with the flipping; he's so much better at the flipping. Following her mentor's, she leaps, hoping to grab the ladder, or at the very least end up dangling from one of Nightrival's boots.
  9. I threw in her Attractive bonus, hope that's cool.
  10. "Changeling." Grim whispers the word to herself; it was almost the name she went with, back when she was coming up with her more heroic persona; with disturbing certainty, she knows who this is, and feels slightly queasy. Suddenly Icarus becomes visibly upset, and starts saying something in the same foreign language he once spoke the first time they met several hours ago. Has it only been hours? It feels like days. Deciding that the last thing you want to have in a cave is a freaked-out supervillain in a powersuit, Grim hurries over to him and lightly grabs his arms as she attempts to make eye contact; when she speaks, her voice is firm but kind. "Icarus! Icarus! Please freak out in English, so we know how scared we're supposed to be! Talk to me, big guy, what's goin' on?"
  11. Here's the inevitable OOC thread. Jack, are there visible black tendrils actually around Kizzy right now?
  12. "Six-double oh-one, six-double oh-one." Lynn sighs and activates the radio clipped to the strap of her messenger bag. "Six-double oh-one." "I've got two instants and a critical in your area, if you want 'em; otherwise I'm gonna give 'em to Kenny" The rookie biker takes a long swig from her water bottle, adjusts her wraparound sunglasses and sighs again; from her position perched on the back of a park bench, she currently has an excellent view of two shirtless boys in baggy shorts playing Frisbee, running back and forth across the Grand Lawn. "Ah, that's a negatory, Gary, let Kenny have 'em; I needs me some grub." "Ten-four, Double oh-one, gimme a holler when you're done." "Ten-four." Lynn has the greatest job in the world; she spends the whole day outdoors, gets to stay in shape, and check out the shapes of the many guys of Freedom City, all while getting paid halfway decent. True, she has no insurance or paid sick days, but everything comes at a price. Her stomach audibly growls, so she hops off the bench, grabs her bike and takes a spin around the park, eyes peeled for one of the many Sully's Kosher Red Hots pushcarts that work Liberty Park.
  13. I made all of one change to Grim's sheet, alphabetizing her powers :geek:
  14. Ok, I just read all the IC and OOC posts here, and I'm going to give the NPCs a once over. I might have a few questions before I start, but we should be rockin' and rollin' by Sunday night at the latest :D
  15. Sure, why not? We can see if we can get an outside ref to throw trouble our way, but worse case scenario I now have power ("The power!") to ref in a pinch.
  16. I'm spending my 4 pp on buying a new power for Grim, part of her shift away from direct combat (at least vs more powerful superpowered foes who can kick her butt) and a bit more into infiltration/stealth. Insubstantial 1 [Flaw] This power has the Magical descriptor like all her powers, since Grim was basically transformed into a magical being in her origin. Updated by Barnum
  17. Okay, give me a day or two to read over the sheets and the posts to date, and then I should be able to get going on this before the weekend is up.
  18. Wait, exactly what does this mean? Now I'm all embarrassed
  19. Very cool! Here is a partially translated version of the page, courtesy of Google. Looks like the model I would use for Grim, the Mirim(?), is not available yet
  20. Sorry, I've been a little behind in posting this week; I might not post here tonight, but if not, I will certainly post tomorrow.
  21. Now look, you've scuffed up the carpet! ;)
  22. Ok, I'm starting to think the whole 'Grim pretending to be a guy' thing is just going to get too weird, but I don't want to chuck the posts I've put up as Lenny so far. I'm thinking it might be better if 'Lenny' acts as an agent for a new female villain persona that I will work on; this will make for easier posting overall and will eliminate the future awkwardness I see looming on the horizon... :?
  23. I need to read more Freud (and Jung, for that matter), but I find him somewhat negative and simplistic, not unlike BF Skinner, even though I think they both have a lot to teach us. Personally, I'm more of an Adlerian myself *shows of his fancy-schmancy college learnin'*
  24. I guess I'm willing to give it a shot, even though I'm not the biggest combat whiz; I need to learn how this combat system works one of these days.
  25. The analysis of film and fiction tends to get pretty Freudian, which kind of annoys me, especially horror film analysis  Personally, I've always prefered Jung; He's more artisitically inclined, draws upon folklore and mythological sources, and has a more positive tone in general (Freud can get pretty dire).
