  1. Grimalkin is surprised by the sudden assault, and barely has a chance to let loose a gurgled scream before falling against the wall. She frantically slashes at the ones crawling on her, scratching herself with her own claws in an attempt to clear some of the swarm off her body.
  2. I don't think I'm in good enough shape to make the Notice check: 11 vs. DC 20 Toughness. That leaves her stunned. I didn't think I had any bruises or hero points. If I had a bruise, then I'd be staggered, and if I had any hero points in that case, I'd spend 'em.
  3. And indeed I did catch something! (though it's mostly a nit picking) Radio as a Super-Sense should cost 2 ranks, and is ranged, radius, and acute (not accurate, see semi-official errata). Radar is Accurate Radio, so the cost is still the same. I'll also caution you that Geckoman has pretty low non-Toughness saves. You'll probably want to invest in increasing them with some of your first PP. That said, you're approved.
  4. I'm not sure if the first ESP Alternate Power changed or if I missed it, but ESP (all senses) costs 4 pp/rank. You could go up to rank 6 there, which is anything within 20 miles. That's still an excellent range, especially since most of our threads remain within Freedom City. Also, after re-reading ESP, I don't think you need to put Penetrates Concealment on the ESP. You still might want it on the Detect Magic, for use when you aren't using Detect Magic along with the ESP. Regarding that second AP, you also need Acute before you could get Analytical, and I'd recommend Ranged for the times that you are using the Detect without ESP. You have just enough points to afford that. You might also consider reducing the rank of the ESP to add Rapid, making it easier to search for a particular magical energy. You can currently sense magic within 20 million miles; reducing that to 2 million miles in order to search 10x faster (or even 200,000 miles, which still reaches anywhere on Earth and nearly to the moon, to search 100x faster), will be useful more often. Regarding the equipment, I'd say the cell phone is usually free, but the other things deserve the equipment points. You can afford a single equipment point to spend on the cell phone if you're already buying the other equipment.

    Drawback

That's a complication if anything. Heroes (and many villains) are seldom given enough time to design and build a ritual or invention using the normal rules, and the penalties of jury-rigging (slightly increased DC, can't take 10) are fairly minor compared to the time savings.
  6. The effect is pretty much the same either way you do it. Restorative is a fairly significant flaw for Boost, and it should have its full effect if the Boost is Linked to a Drain, which is basically what Transfer is. The Transfer would still Drain the targets, but would only Boost you up to your normal maximums.
  7. The short answer is "any power with a Will save that doesn't have the Mental descriptor or extra in it." The primary example is Illusion (which becomes a Mental power with the Phantasm flaw), but there are other powers with Alternate Save that can also do it.
  8. I missed it as well; lost in the shuffle. Here's Hub's result: 16.
  9. Got it. I did a quick search, but I missed that because I searched for armor, not armour. I'll edit my post to that effect.
  10. It's the former. The reconfiguration has started and will continue whether or not he's still there (and whomever he used as the template is still there).
  11. Excellent results overall, giving you the information that I listed in my post. Feel free to add a little technobabble of your own. You were able to tell the system to acquire a new target and start the process before White Knight spoke to you, but you don't think that he'll stand for any more delays based on your passive Sense Motive check. You can re-consider the argument you made or try a different tack if you'd like.
  12. It's time for some running! Please make a Constitution check for the initial run out of the city. We'll have a couple more before we catch the elves, unless someone comes up with a better plan than running around looking for them. Hub's first result is a 14, shown here.
  13. Slathliss nods, but his words belie the motion of his head. "I can try," he says. "They move each day, sometimes more than once, and they have a way of not being found if they do not want to be. If that one were not so weak, we might be able to catch them by circling the gates, but there is little chance of that." Kevin curls his lip in disgust at Slathliss, saying, "I can keep up, and you guys won't even feel tired with my help. I'm better today." Sen and Nightrival, who know him a little better, can see that he's telling the truth, but not the whole truth. He's certainly doing better today than last night, but he still hasn't eaten and has a pale look to him. If it really is radiation poisoning, then the longer they stay here, the worse he'll get. They may not have a better chance than now. Slathliss does his peculiar half-shrug, then picks up the pace. "Then we run," he says.
  14. Doctor Archeville's mind moves as swiftly as a super-computer. Certainly, he had not intended to cause such a horrible problem within the prison, but based on the limited knowledge that he had of the functioning of the power suppressors, mistakes could (and did) happen. It's suddenly clear to him. He had been working on removing Dryad's powers, and had nearly succeeded. For a brief instant, her powers must have been gone completely. Once that was true, the nanothaumic quantum inhibitors would have disentangled themselves from her. Then, when her powers returned, there would be nothing stopping them from being fully expressed. The fact that it spread throughout the prison (and seemingly radiating from the infirmary) suggests that she was exuding some sort of chemical compound which induced a similar change in the rest of the inmates. Of course, that means that in order to re-inhibit the inmates' powers, he'd either have to find a way to reverse Dryad's effects on the inmates (a risky business, given that he did not succeed the first time) or update the profiling system that the power suppressors used to identify metahuman abilities. If the population is currently out-of-synch with the current metahuman profile, Dr. Archeville just has to acquire one example of a metahuman whose powers aren't being suppressed and tell the computer to start suppressing away. Fortunately, he has several possible candidates... unfortunately, it will take some time for the system to process the incoming data, a function of the isolated nature of this control node. It will probably be another five to ten minutes for the entire prison's suppressors to be working at full efficiency.
  15. Hello there Aragon, Mystic Raven looks nearly ready. There's a couple of things in her Magic array that I have to ask about, as well as one story element. I'll cover that part first. There's already a legacy setting NPC known as the Raven, a father and his daughter who has taken up the mantle. If you're going by that name in Freedom City, you might get confused for her. That's not a problem since there's no such thing as the codename trademark police, but it's something you should be aware of. The ESP 12 (magical energies) doesn't do anything right now, because you don't have a Detect Magic to use to actually sense those energies. You have some extra pp, since it seems to be only one sense type. You could make that AP: ESP 12 (one sense type: mental); Super-Senses (detect magic [mental]) You would have 11 more pp to spend on the Super-Senses to improve them if you wanted; I strongly recommend Penetrates Concealmeant so that you can sense beyond the nearest magical aura more easily. This way also means that you can sense magical energies without using ESP, which can come in handy sometimes. The Concealment power is also way too expensive. It only takes a single rank of Concealment to protect against ESP using the option provided in Ultimate Power, and I think that's a reasonable option. If you wanted Concealment from all mental senses as well (which given the name of "Mind Shield" would make sense), that would be Concealment 2. Concealment 10 would be enough to disappear from every sense; 12 is too high.
  16. I've had a chance to look through the character, and her backstory looks very good. There are a couple of things to look at from a mechanical perspective, though. Her Defense should be 11 when flat-footed (one-half the normal defense, and no benefit from Dodge Focus), and her initiative should only be +2. Why is she so intimidating? 8 ranks is professional level, and it didn't seem like she was that scary from her backstory. I'm ok with all of the powers and APs with the exception of the Healing. While the other things can be explained through luck (good or bad) happening, Healing requires retroactive change to make sense. I might be able to see Regeneration (Bruised 3) (Extra: Affects Others, Range (Perception)) as a way for Karma to help someone shake off an injury more quickly, but only minor injuries like bruises make sense with that method. Also, the enhanced feats should say 10. It's currently listed as 8, though the pp total at the end is correct.
  17. Even though the Emissary hadn't seen any police nearby, Velocity's definition of "nearby" was just a little farther reaching. It only takes her about ten seconds to locate the nearest police officer two and a half blocks away. The officer takes a step back as a blur suddenly turns into a person right in front of her. Her hand starts to move towards her gun before she recognizes the young hero. Of course, Velocity probably could have taken that gun away and disassembled it before she even finished getting it out of the holster, but the cop's reflexes were pretty good. The man just sighs as the Emissary lectures further. It's hard to tell if what was said got through to him, based on his world-weary attitude, but if the Emissary knows anything, it's that there's always hope. The woman nods to the Emissary. "I'm Alice Gizorki - the only one in the phone book," she says. "Thank you again for saving me. I'll go put in the call right away."
  18. Hub looks around as the shop seems to explode with metahuman activity. He glances over to Shadowboxer to see what he's doing right now. Hopefully, he'll be able to handle the stretchy woman with Hub's chi-balancing. The rest of them, though - he thinks that the glowing red guy is going up against Rocko, as well as the guy with the arrows, but he doesn't know what's going on with the man who looks rather ordinary and wanted to know who's on which side or the man swathed in darkness. They could be on either side, but he instinctually distrusts the shadowy man. If it looks like he'll attack anyone other than Rocko or the stretchy lady, Hub will attack him.
  19. There's a lot of different ways to set up alternate realities, from "creation of a parallel timeline" to "rewrite the past instantly" to "slowly affected by the changes" (think Back to the Future) and also convergent realities (again, like Back to the Future, where the past was changed but things still turned out remarkably the same). Me, I always figured that Mohinder's power was to survive doing incredibly ill-advised things. We'll see if that is still true for this season. I'm also glad to see Ando doing something awesome, though it's pretty clear from this season's theme that Hiro is overlooking one big possibility when accusing Ando of becoming a villain.
  20. And there, the voice recorder costs half as much as the video recorder because the video recorder captures twice as many senses of information. Overall, I'd call that a Feature of your Device, if you weren't just going to purchase it as stand-alone Equipment associated with your Device.
  21. I need a Knowledge (physical sciences) check, and an untrained Knowledge (so Intelligence) check as well. Your Knowledge (technology) roll was enough that you clearly understand how the power dampener controls work, but you need the other checks to determine how Dryad's metahuman powers interacted with your treatment to shut down the system, and based on the other two checks, what you can do there to counteract the effects. There are elements of physical sciences, life sciences, technology, and a little arcane lore in there, which is why it's an Intelligence check.
  22. The criminals whirl around as Dryad reforms herself. One of them fires off a shot at her, but it goes astray. The one who fired it doesn't take a second shot once he sees who it is. "Geez, lady. You tryin' to get yourself all shot up?" he asks. He still looks a little shaky on the trigger, and he re-arranges his hostage as he glances at her nervously. "One more mistake like that, and we'll leave you here," White Knight scowls. "They're all trying to shoot us down, and you'll do their job for them." He looks over to Dr. Archeville. "Is your check done, Fritz? We've got to move."
  23. I intend to fill it out, but I have some other things to do first (like catch up on all my threads). Rest assured, it will be done.
  24. Nightrival has had Hub Boost him back when the two of them were out rescuing Eldrich. Also, with regards to the Slow Fade, it's actually 10 rounds (one minute) for a power point to drop, not 5.
