  1. And one point to emphasize there - if you wanted the Super-Senses to work in the absence of your normal vision, you'd have to buy the qualities (Accurate, Acute, and so on) that sight has. Otherwise, blinding your regular vision would also blind your life-vision.
  2. Ok, sounds good to me. Let me know when you've re-rolled, and when I'm up for my next post. Thanks!
  3. I thought that I had bruised it once or twice. Did its save never drop, or are you just saying what its most recent save was?
  4. I'll take the easy route on Icarus and change the one rank of Defensive Roll to a rank of Dodge Focus. That means he's now hitting the new tradeoffs. For Hub, lower the rank of the Fatigue AP to 6. I sort of suspect that I'll hit PL 8 with him this month anyway (using the new totals), at which point it'll go back up to 7 again. The defense is a little trickier. I'd like to make slightly larger changes there. Instead of the three ranks of Defensive Roll, I'd like to change it to 1 more rank of Reflex (+5 total), 1 rank of Equipment (Uniform: Protection 3, Subtle; Commlink: Dr. Atom), and Quick Change. These changes would go into effect after the current thread I started where I didn't have Quick Change. The uniform was obtained from the Atom Family, which is why it has the commlink to Dr. Atom built in.
  5. Dr. Archeville, would you consider what I wrote there to be a readied action to use Boost on Nightrival? If so, that'd take effect. If not, we'll see what things look like by the time that it gets around to my initiative.
  6. "I think we're making this too complicated. We try to find these guys, and we say that Sen might be willing to sell the sword. That gets us to meet them, and we can ask about Eldrich. Then we just go," Kevin says. "I mean, they might not even know anything, or might not want to share. If it comes to that... I don't know. This city's nearly as big as Freedom, I think, and there's nobody in charge. We need to figure out what he might have gone to do, and why he isn't back yet."
  7. Don't worry about it too much, SB. I'm off on business travel, so I probably won't be posting IC until Friday evening at the earliest. I'll still check in to keep caught up on what's going on.
  8. The last retort of the mugger is mumbled so quietly that the Emissary can barely hear it over the sonic whoosh of Velocity's arrival. "Or you arrest me and I get fed there..."
  9. Kevin nods, looking at the group. "If we can't even find someone to point us towards them, then it doesn't matter where they are now. Besides, the elves aren't our goal. We're after Eldrich, and I think he was last seen to the north if I remember what you guys said the other day. Let's give it a shot. Slathliss, lead on." Slathliss shrugs silently. He looks up into the sky, shading his eyes with his hand, then starts walking off down the street. They can tell after a moment that they're heading mostly north. Kevin speaks in a low voice to Sen, trying not to be overheard by Slathliss, "You said your sword was dangerous, right? What if they actually want to buy it, and won't take no for an answer?"
  10. I also don't have Quick Change, but I do have an extra hero point from Luck. I'll spend that now for the Heroic Feat use of a hero point, so I only have the one from the thread. If Nightrival emerges before my initiative, or if any civilians appear injured, Hub will spend his standard action to use Boost or Healing, respectively.
  11. Kevin strips like a Chippendale dancer, but rather than reveal his tightly toned body, he shows off another side of himself. This side is in a dark green bodysuit with a hooded facemask that he quickly pulls over his face. Kevin Malone, starting center for the Freedom College Patriots, is gone. Now stands the hero, Hub... who for his part, peers cautiously around the display. While no one will learn his secret identity, the downside of being in a costume is that the villains know that he's a hero.
  12. Nah, but I thought you might use it as bait and steal it back. Another possibility is that the demon curse is so bad that you can't be rid of the sword for long, though that would probably require a power feat.
  13. A voice rings out from the fire escape above their heads. "While I appreciate that we've all caught up, we need to move, now," says Foreshadow as he swings his way down to land on top of a dumpster. "We're going to risk a portal. Network's been to see the Master Mage. Now's the time to strike." Both Magister and Changeling react to that with great surprise. It's clear from Foreshadow's words that this isn't something that's commonly done. Of course, looking at Rant, one might think that Foreshadow said that they'd go to the supermarket. Considering that he would probably be diagnosed as a psychopath in any world that isn't laboring under a supervillain intent on destroying the universe, that's not a great surprise. Icarus speaks up, "I can open a portal, but it won't go that far. Maybe five miles, tops. Where is the Master Mage?" Foreshadow shakes his head. "No, China is entirely too far for you. The portal will come to us, but when I say move, move. He's only keeping it open for an instant. That gives us the best chance of Omega being inable to trace it," he says.
  14. We'll discuss this request in the referees forum, but as an initial glance, it seems like too much of a benefit to get to use a skill which is going to be high for other reasons for feinting, but the feint can't be opposed except by Sense Motive. The other thing to note is that even if a Concentration check were allowed to oppose the feint, both Concentration and Sense Motive use the same ability score. With Bluff, someone who is untrained in both skills does have the choice of Wisdom modifier or Charisma modifer to oppose the Bluff.
  15. Well, we rolled initiatives, but I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to go yet. Do we have the order set?
  16. Hey there, It looks like this thread never got an OOC thread to go with it. I'm creating one here. Dr. Archeville, I looked at the Limited flaw in your power stunt a bit, trying to figure out whether it seems balanced. After reading UP, I think it is, but I'd call it "Sight-Dependent", since that flaw seems to describe what you're saying in many fewer words.
  17. Absolutely not! Good to have you back. I don't think I did anything that Sen wouldn't have, but correct me if I'm wrong. I'm giving you or Shadowboxer the next post here.
  18. Part of what the referees have to look at is how much a particular flaw affects a power. If there is no roll to defend against the damage, then the minimum result will occur: a single bruise. Since a teleporter typically would be used to enter or exit a scene, it's unlikely that he'll be using the Teleport frequently enough to warrant a -2 flaw. If he had to roll a Toughness save against the effect, and the rank of the effect was high enough that he could risk a more serious problem such as being stunned or staggered before he could teleport, then I would see it going up to a -2 flaw. He could also combine flaws, such as using the aforementioned auto-bruise along with Unreliable, giving him a 100% chance of a bruise and a 50% chance that he wouldn't actually teleport.
  19. Not sure where I come in, but I'm guessing that 8 is near the end.
  20. The woman looks quite embarrassed as the Emissary corrects her. She begins to apologize, "Oh, I'm so sorry. There are so many heroes in the city, but you... you were just inducted into the Freedom League, weren't you? I feel so dumb." The mugger looks less comfortable receiving a lecture from the metallic monolith than he did when he was being captured by him. "I wasn't going to hurt her, just threaten her a little. See, I didn't even run into her and knock her down," he says. "Some of us got to eat, you know." His tone suggests that he thinks the Emissary isn't "one of us" in that respect. "That doesn't give you the right to take my things!" the woman says indignantly.
  21. Kevin looks over to find Liam, but the man has already hidden himself. He frowns, thinking, "I can't help what I can't sense!" Sure, he could find him with his chi senses, but he's learned that his eyes glow a viridian green when he does so. It's the only super-human thing that he can do which has a visible effect, and it's also the only super-human thing that he does which doesn't directly affect others. Maybe there's something to that, but now's not the time to think about it. He spots a large display for an upcoming movie. It's not ideal, but it'll do. He runs behind it, and once sure that no one's looking, pulls over his hood and gloves as he strips himself of the rest of his clothing. It sounds like something is going on outside, and he can only hope that he's not going to be too late.
  22. "I thought you said that the elves were heading north," Kevin says, a little confused. Sen shakes his head at him. "Eldrich was seen heading north, and he met with the elves. Nightrival is hoping that they are along the way," Sen says, looking to Nightrival for confirmation. Instead, it's Slathliss who speaks up. "There are many elves in the city. They are probably second in number to the humans. But if this Eldrich was seeking spell components, there's another market just outside the city that he might have gone to. The elves there don't come in the city and don't have to pay the tariffs. The lords are always trying to run them out, but the word is that they have a man on the court who warns them ahead of time," Slathliss says. It's the longest speech any of them have heard from him, and it stuns them a little. Kevin is the first to recover. "I guess we start there. Are they to the north?" he asks. "If they were there two days ago, then probably not. They move each day, and if you aren't the right sort, you won't find them," Slathliss says. "How can we prove we deserve to see them?" Sen asks, the obvious follow-up to what Slathliss just said. "You have to prove you can pay ahead of time. There's no bluffing them," Slathliss says. Kevin snaps his fingers at that, dejected. "We don't have time to get enough money, it sounds like. We need to move fast. Each day we're here is another day that Master Lee has to hold down the fort without us," Kevin says. Sen holds up his hand, asking for quiet. He looks straight at Slathliss. "Do they also buy goods? I have a sword that they might be interested in..." he says, drawing the blade from its scabbard.
  23. Maybe Toa, with a beard and without the tattoos for Icarus?
  24. "I'm getting it, but what is it that I'm getting?" Grimalkin shouts, growing more agitated as she slashes at the panel. Her claws are nearly through as some of the metallic ants start crawling on her. She jumps a little involuntarily, knocking one of them off, but does her best to keep at her current task. She glances to Nightrival and sees all the ants coming. Grimalkin redoubles her efforts at that.
