  1. On the white-hat side, Hub also has a power point to spend. I'll do the obvious thing and increase Strength to 16. This increases his grapple modifier by 1, but has no effect on the rest of his stats. Man, I need to increase his saves somehow... Updated by Doc. I also added DC blocks for his stuff.
  2. And for my character, Icarus: 2 pp - increase Attack by 1 (Attack +7, +10 melee, +11 Blast) 1 pp - subtract 1 pp of direct bonus to Fortitude and spend the last pp to increase his Constitution to 30. This increases his Toughness by 1 and leaves his Fortitude save the same as before. I was reminded that Teleport can't have the Easy power feat if it's Long Range-Only. Please change that power feat to Progression instead, so that the portal is 10' by 10' rather than 5' by 5'. Updated by Doc. I also added DC blocks for his stuff.
  3. AP added. It'd help me next time if you mentioned which character it was for. I know you only have one right now, but it just makes things easier for me.
  4. Based on our relative Dex modifiers, we'd probably have to roll for a very long time before we get a string where one of us has five successes more than the other. I think that from what you're saying, Shui is nearly next to Icarus if I have a net negative number. I'm ok with saying that Shui catches me before I try to make a last-ditch effort to escape with one of my powers. Then we can continue the overall storyline after finishing this thread up. Does that sound good to you two?
  5. I think my other threads have slowed up enough that I could take this one on. Are the three of you still interested?
  6. While I am not quite the same level of writer as Dr. Archeville, I do have something of which I'm proud and would like to share with you. The latest Mutants and Masterminds book, the Wild Cards Campaign Setting, is the first M&M book where I am listed as a playtester and proofreader. I'm not a designer, but as I'm sure any writer could tell you, a good proofreader helps out any book or story a great deal. The correct spelling of my last name is "Auwaerter", by the way, in case you were wondering. :)
  7. All the numbers add up, but there's one thing I want to clarify before sanctioning. In your description, you note that the Spartan is all natural human with the exception of his immortality. The maximum value for a natural human's ability scores is 25, and his Strength and Constitution are both 26. This makes him very slightly superhuman in those abilities. Do you want to change the description or the ability scores?
  8. I'd call it a Feature. There are a few situations where having no weight is an advantage (not setting off pressure plates, easier lifting or throwing by another hero), and the cost is right, being about the value of a flawed Flight.
  9. I rolled a couple of times in that last post to help speed things up a little. The first 12 left him with a net score of 0 successes toward getting away. Shui can make three rolls and compare them to my next three all at once. He won't be able to catch me, but he could get a lot closer (especially with the low numbers I'm rolling).
  10. Icarus can see that his ploy didn't work as well as he hoped. He's still being followed, and the person following him is definitely using water powers. He can't let the container get wet, and the way that his gravitic field works, it keeps all the cesium in at the expense of also sucking in anything that directly touches it. While that's not a problem for his enchanted battlesuit, enough water could do very bad things to it. He stumbles a little as he avoids a crenellation, then looks around for someplace to try to lose the hero.
  11. Kevin sighs as he gets to his feet. He puts a hand on the wall to steady himself, but he otherwise appears ready to go. The robes are a bit dirtier for his time spent on the pallet, but they still appear relatively clean. "I don't know if I trust elves," he says. "Do they even eat?" "I think so," says Slathliss. "I do not think they will just give us food, though. Nobody gets things for free here." Sen opens his mouth and then closes it, choosing silence rather than take advantage of the opening that Slathliss left him. He rises smoothly to his feet, patting his sword to make it rest easier against his body. Slathliss doesn't appear to have anything he needs to take with him either. The three men walk out to the main room of the inn, where Nightrival waits for them. The inn is mostly deserted at this time of day. A gnome sleeps in one corner of the room, snoring loudly. Slathliss glances at the gnome. "Someone else got there first," he shakes his head. "His coinpurse is already gone." "Let's just see if these elves can help us," Kevin says, trying again to forestall an argument. "Which way are they, Nightrival?"
  12. I would say that this is of such rare benefit that I'd allow it as a feature, costing a total of 1 pp. That's the same cost as the Regrowth power feat for Regeneration, which would get back lost limbs permanently when you would recover from a disabled condition.
  13. Unconscious means that the White Knight doesn't think about it. It's blindingly obvious to anyone who spends more than a couple of minutes with him. Since we're four-color here, I'm purposely holding back on him. He's a bigot, and he'd probably use the n-word as a casual part of conversation. However, I'm also trying to make him a little less one-dimensional and give him some behaviors that match up with his stats in Freedom City.
  14. "Just keep moving," one of the other super-strong inmates says. "We can stand around yapping once you get us out." The guy next to him, who is carrying the male guard, chuckles. "He's been here for years," he says. "None of the rest of us have been here more than 5." The first inmate scowls, but controls himself rather than do anything more rash. The considering look that he gives the second inmate doesn't bode well for that inmate once they're out. All of them are moving at a fairly rapid pace. Dr. Archeville can almost ignore the flashing lights and klaxons sounding through the hallways. Despite how it has seemed so far, the prison is not empty. As Dr. Archeville rounds a corner with White Knight just behind, three guards have their pistols drawn and pointed at him. When White Knight sees them, he smiles. "Get out of the way now. We're getting out of here, and I don't want to hurt any of you," he says as his hair ignites. Though he is burning, he isn't harmed. Dr. Archeville sees that all three men are white - one small favor in a world that's quickly spiraling out of control.
  15. This character looks great. I'd give you your first approval, but I added up his skills and only had 134, not 136. When you add those two skill points, you will have it. Also, for a more street-level character, I'd suggest that when sanctioned, you meet up with NIghtrival, played by Shadowboxer. He's working on organizing a street-level team that your character would fit in well with.
  16. The Season 2 DVDs have finally shipped from Amazon, too. Now, on a related topic, I just have to wait on Fable 2 and Fallout 3. (Clearly, related to Amazon, not Heroes).
  17. I count 36 pp of powers (the Alternate Form of 35-3 = 32 pp, and Magic 2 which is 4 pp). Everything else appeared to add up.
  18. "I will remind you," Sen says, not opening his eyes, "that Slathliss said he used the last of the money to get this room, and he did not leave it last night." Slathliss stirs as he hears his name, then stretches. He raises an eyebrow when Sen says that he didn't leave the room. "Were you watching me the whole night?" he asks. "Listening," Sen says. "I figured out that it's easier to hear you than it is to see you." "I'm not really hungry yet," Kevin says, trying to defuse the situation. "What do we have to do now, Nightrival? Go find some elves or something?"
  19. Magister seems a bit stunned by all the information that Grimalkin laid on him, as well as the obvious honest emotion. He stammers a bit as he returns the hug. "Wha- what? Half-... uh, maybe we should get off the streets to discuss this. Where is Foreshadow, and if you're not my sister, where is she?" he asks, glancing to Nanowire and Rant for support. Rant just rolls his eyes, as if to say "you see what I've been putting up with?" While the answer to Magister's first question is unknown to all of the crosstime heroes, Icarus knows exactly where Changeling is. She's standing in front of him. "I was just a baby then," she says, and Icarus inwardly sighs in relief. At least he didn't pick a date before she was born, and upset her even more. But she continues. "You don't really know me at all, do you? And I have such a hard time remembering you. You look a lot like I remember, like the pictures that Grandma showed us. This isn't how I imagined it," she says. Icarus doesn't know what to say to her, so he tries to change the subject. "Who was the other person following me?" he asks. Changeling jumps slightly. "Oh, that was my brother. I should call him and tell him I found you," she says. She touches a finger to her ear and speaks. "Spotted him; converge on the signal." Grimalkin can hear the last statement echoed quietly from Magister's ear, though it's below normal hearing, as well as where it's originally spoken from. Magister touches his ear back. "I've located her, and she says she's spotted Dad. Follow me," he says.
  20. Sorry about the delay, Dr. A. I had a post sent a few days ago, but my wireless connection must have crashed as I was sending it. I thought it went through. This is the same vibe, though.
  21. White Knight pauses as he weighs Dr. Archeville's words. He looks like he's coming to a conclusion he doesn't like. "I wish there was one white teleporter worth his salt in there," he scowls. "We're taking too long to get out. But if they bring the power dampeners back on, then they can take us down fast, hostages or no hostages. We all go to the armory and get weapons; then we can get out of that elevator fast." For all of his failings (and his obvious unconscious racism is a large one), White Knight is not a stupid man. Even though what he stands for is totally repugnant to Dr. Archeville, there's still a certain charisma to him. It's clear why the other inmates are following him. Even if he weren't also very powerful, he exudes confidence in all that he does.
  22. "Funny," thinks Icarus. "Talk is something I don't do when I'm on the job." While the youngster (and Icarus can hear how young he is now) seems to have an advantage in speed due to Icarus' careful handling of the cesium, Icarus knows that he's more maneuverable. He flies forward, heading towards a large building, then straight up, hoping that will give him some space.
