  1. The two uninjured androids move off against Velocity. One of them slips behind Velocity, not knowing that the heroine can see all around her. Even so, being attacked from two sides splits Velocity's attention, and the jab from one android makes the second one's attack a little more likely to hit her. Otaku quickly shades his eyes, not letting the Emissary's aerial wizardry distract him from his goal. "I see you haven't learned how to play well with others yet, Velocity," he shouts out sneeringly. "Fortunately, I am here to teach you a lesson." The surfboard begins to fire, splitting its attack between the two heroes. Both shots go astray, and he mutters to himself, "Looks like they could have used more calibration."
  2. The elves look closely at Sen, trying to determine whether he's speaking truthfully. Finally, the leader frowns and speaks. "We spoke with a wizard recently - though he gave his name as Adrian Eldrich, not Edward. Still, names are easily changed. I will give you what you ask for no charge to see you away from here. He did not say where he was going when he left, but he went along the north road," she says. She waves her hands as if to shoo the two of you away. The guards seem just as ready to attack you as they did before she answered your question - maybe a little more so, now that you have what you were supposedly after.
  3. I apologize for the delay. I will be posting an update tomorrow evening.
  4. I will have something more posted tonight or tomorrow. I apologize for the delay and lack of communication.
  5. I know. I just wanted to feel more useful - Healing 1 would have had the same effect. How about we add some harder conditions for next time?
  6. Hub is granting Red Star a +6 bonus to his recovery check, based on Healing.
  7. Hub reaches out with his chi, re-aligning Red Star's. It reacts strangely, but truth be told, he doesn't have a lot of experience with how it's supposed to feel. Back when he didn't know what he was, he used his power instinctively. Now that he is paying closer attention, he can feel more from it.
  8. Ow. When I first saw this post, I thought "What, on RPG Gateway?"
  9. Ah, I didn't even realize that I had entered that information. Thank you all for the kind birthday wishes. Unfortunately, one of my gifts was Fallout 3. Between that and the rest of life, I got sucked up for about a week. I'm still not done with the game, but I'm to the point that I don't feel the need to play it for five hours each night after work (ok, six). That means I'll be back here doing my job. Sorry for the delay, and if any of you enjoy post-apocalyptic role-playing, don't hesitate to go for Fallout 3.
  10. Archived until further notice. Please PM a referee to move it back to the Character Bank.
  11. In terms of Hub, I'm not able to heal Red Star yet. I was using the wrong part of my AP to be able to do that. It'll work this coming turn... and then I would have to switch back and forth to see Spartan's injury... though if I saw the punch, I think I'd figure it out without Chi Sight.
  12. Does he appear to be 175 lbs or 200 lbs? There is no such thing as Base Attack Bonus in Mutants and Masterminds. This should say "Attack +8 (melee), +5 (ranged)". Similarly, there is no such thing as Base Defense Bonus; it is simply Defense. His flat-footed defense can be no more than half his defense. It should be +3, since he has Dodge Focus 3 and 1/2 of the 5 ranks of Defense is 3, rounding up. The Insubstantial should be "Extra: Continuous; Flaw: Permanent"; the cost is the same. I am not allowing the drawback on Nullify and Knowledge (technology). Nullify is an AP, so it's the equivalent of getting the AP for free. 10 ranks of Knowledge (technology) cost 2.5 pp, and getting back 1 pp on it for a rare power loss seems like too much. The drawbacks on Blast (the main power) and Super Senses are ok.
  13. It's a Joss Whedon thing, so it's obvious. A likeable character will be introduced, then killed, and then the characterization of an existing character will be changed abruptly with little to no justification.
  14. That works for me. Thanks for finishing this one out.
  15. Bumping is not against the rules. When it comes to your request, I'm not in a position where I think I could take the thread and make it something good. I've already got two threads in alternate dimensions, and I couldn't take a third one on effectively.
  16. And here I figured you were also drawn in by the lure of Fable II. I got it yesterday and probably already put in four hours on it. Between that and the Phillies... well, I promised I'd make posts here tonight, so I might not get any more hours in on it tonight.
  17. A good way to judge what's needed for an invention is to determine how important it is to a future story. Icarus has been working on the components for an artifice for a few months now. When it goes off, it'll be awesome. If it's something that's fairly minor, like a flying belt, then you can do it through the Character Edits thread.
  18. That concludes this thread. Hope that some lurkers enjoyed it. :)
  19. Despite being singled out by the teacher and not really caring about the subject matter, Sean realizes that he's starting to understand it. He had been a hermit within Freedom City for over a decade, and the PC revolution had passed him by. He knows that he looks a lot younger than he is, but learning these sorts of things actually makes him feel younger too. Self-improvement doesn't just mean learning how to use superpowers (though he's been making more progress with them in the past year than he had for almost twenty-five years before that). It's a sense of accomplishment that is earned, rather than taken from someone else. When he gets up, he stops by the teacher. "Listen. I want to thank you for putting up with me," he says. "I never really got this computer stuff, but I'm starting to." The teacher looks a little startled, but then she gives him a sincere smile, "That's what we like to hear. We have more classes if you want to learn more." Sean shrugs a little, "I think I'm good for now, but maybe some other time. Thanks again." And with that, he leaves the library and starts to walk home.
  20. Just checking in here. Dryad, Dr. Archeville, are you guys still watching this thread?
  21. "People who want to purchase something from us. The two of you don't look like you've got two gold pieces to rub together. Talk is not cheap. What are you offering that supposedly concerns us?" she asks bluntly. Her assessment is accurate. Both Nightrival and Sen slept (or meditated) in their clothes, and bedraggled is not a rich look. She doesn't say anything to the guardsmen about lowering their weapons, and for their part, they keep an arrow nocked and trained on each of the men.

    The job

"There usually isn't much money in kidnapping," Heavy says. "Not in this country, anyway. That should have been a clue. But... what you asked: you and I are copacetic after this. Satori isn't. He's the man who attacked the people in your house. He and I will have business to deal with." Sean doesn't expect the first part to comfort Kirk, once he thinks about it. He probably should have just stuck with "We are cool". Unfortunately, he's not thinking as straight as he normally would. Tonight has been a hard night, like something from the days of Moore, and it's bringing back bad memories.
  23. I lowered the rank of Improved Critical to 2, based on what you said above. You have your first approval.
