  1. Victory Nichtuberall The dust from the asteroid began to clear, being sucked out into the void of space, with a few of the mutants going with it. The call from Push was half-lost in the vacuum, but when the emergency seals slid into place to secure the interior, the figure, now unobscured, heard him. The silver-blue “meteor†lifted a shining arm and brought it down, burying his foe into the floor. The figure stood and turned to Push, a smirk on his face. “Same thing as you, I'd imagine. When the message went out, I fi- Oh, hold on a second...†Another of the so-called “Metaceptors†dove towards Victory, trying to get the jump on him as he speaks. His highly-advanced threat recognition system, in addition to his naturally keen senses, denied the creature. His arm shot up, catching it mid-leap by the throat, and he swung it towards Push, like a baseball pitch. “Heads up!†It seemed that Push had recovered enough from his surprise to get what Victory was going for,and swung for the fences. With a loud CRACK, the enemy goes flying into a wall, becoming embedded in it. Dusting his hands off, Victory nods approvingly. “Not bad. But to answer your question, I knew this place was kept top-top-top secret. Therefore, I figured that if he had any sort of backup plan or extra weapon, this would be the place to store it. So as soon as I put 2 and 2 together, I made my way up here. It took a while, but, if nothing else, it was a good test for something we've been working on. And since I'm not the only one here, I'm guessing I was right. Especially with all these guards!†At the word “guardsâ€, almost on cue, more came for the pair. But they were cut down, and quickly. If anything could be said about both Victory and Push, while they have little in common, they're both very difficult to stop once they begin. Space Around Nichtuberall While the heavy blows were landing within, going so strong as to shake parts of the asteroid away from the friction, a strange orange glow and begun growing in the void. Or it may be more accurate to say it was infesting the very nothing of space, right where it hangs.... Interior Battling through the hangar, they were practically wading in enemies. Hordes redoubled their efforts and swarmed, where a ceiling camera would see their bodies flying in all directions. Within minutes, the room had been littered with the defeated enemies. Taking a breath once the horde stops, Victory dusts his hands off, and shakes out his natural, but armor-covered hand, having gotten sore from all the blows they laid down. “Oh man. More than I thought I'd see on the way in. I knew there were a lot of heat signatures, but I thought it would take them longer to converge on one point. There shouldn't be too many more, th-†A shockwave rocks the hangar, with enough force to blow Push to the far side, up against a wall. When the momentary daze is shaken off, on the far side of the hangar is a winged black figure. One with an....unsettlingly familiar shape. The metal wings protruding from its upper back spit out a sickly orange energy, as it crouches over a laid-out Victory. Its horrible voice, at once human while echoing with something more, echos throughout the hangar, as the hole it punched into the side of the asteroid is sealed with another blast door. â€There you are, Hand-Me-Down! I told you that you wouldn't get away for long!†Push didn't need to hear any more. Whatever this thing was, it was something that needed to be stopped right now. Shaking his head out, he hefts his hammer, beginning to charge across the massive hangar towards the two. There is enough time, however, for the creature to reach a black, metal hand down and grab Victory by the throat. â€And now that he's gone, I don't have to worry about attracting his attention while I dispose of you!†The creature's opposite hand becomes engulfed in that same horrible orange glow that spouts from his wings, but just as he is about to land what may be a killing blow, a massive CRASH comes down across the back of his head. The figure stumbles for but a step, and turns its gaze to Push. Its face is covered by a twisted black helmet, but two orange spots can be seen below the visor. And when his mouth opens, that energy spouts in small bursts from his throat, like spit. â€What do you think you're doing, WORM?! This is NOT your affair. You will stay out of it, or be TAKEN out of it!†That black hand, with its twisted knuckles, grab the head of Push's hammer, and, with a surge of energy, curls its fingers together and crushes it, the metal becoming little more than dust in his hand! And with one final, horrible scream, Push is blasted back to where he was, a sharp flash of pain going through his body. The distraction may have helped, however. Victory, struggling, brings himself to his feet. Panting, he blasts forward, grabbing the monster around the waist. The two rocket forward, but it doesn't seem bothered. â€Hahahaha! You know what's going to happen now, don't you, Knock-Off?! Fine then! Let's go!†Victory's moment of offense doesn't last long, as the two twist in mid-air, and Victory is the one in his enemy's grasp! The two blast through the entire asteroid, and Victory gets his mouth plate in place just in time as they head out into space, and disappear back into that horrible, orange tear....
  2. When Victory is outside, he smiles, giving the hull a pat with his metal hand, causing a small clanging sound to echo in the room. "Good work, girl. You rest while we fix ya up best we can." As he turns to face the rest, he catches Supercape's compliment, and shakes his head. "Nah, I just got lucky. This was the first time I've flown a craft out in zero-g. Honestly, I wasn't sure if it was going to work out or not. Of course, if it were just me, it wouldn't have. Fortunately, we have the right variety of skills on board, eh?" Victory gives Push and Blueshift silent nods, then walks over to Dok. "Looks like you made the right casting call.", Victory says with his hand outstretched. However, when his handshake offer is accepted, he leans in, with a whisper. "So...are you going to tell me about your little setup here, Herr Doktor? Or is this going to have to be another one of those convenient black spots on my recording software?"
  3. Victory remained as calm as could be expected (for a man piloting a big metal box through deadly space debris, at least) as they made their approach to the coordinates Archeville instructed him. While everyone else was shouting over the forcefield situation, Victory was keeping his concentration entirely on the piloting. No matter how protected they are, it won't matter for long if he slipped up and ended up smashing into something far larger than they were. victory's teeth gritting, he crossed the point where they had to reach, and suddenly found himself stopped. Blinking for a moment, his hands no longer on the controls, it took him a second to realize what exactly had happened. But once he did, he couldn't help but smirk. Unfastening himself from the seat, Victory stood up and cracked his neck in one direction, then the other. Turning around, he gives a single clap to get the crew's attention. "Well then, passengers. It seems we've arrived at our destination. Make sure to collect all your belongings from the overhead compartments and the seat in front of you." Floating up, he does alight vault over the seat, and looks over at Dok. "I'm going to go give this bird the look-over. Mind joining me, Doktor?" When he was done, he continued walking towards the exit. But on his way, for a small moment, Push would feel the powerful metal hand of Victory's giving him a short, but strong pat on the shoulder.
  4. So what would be the case with Victory being there? Victory is often monitored as closely as possible by mission control, and suddenly losing the signal would be highly suspicious. Although, it's possible they could've already lost it back near the rock if the interference was strong enough...
  5. I'm guessing it's safe to assume that most location-determining devices or powers short of someone like, say, Darkstar's would be more or less hopeless in here?
  6. Once Blueshift had worked her little magic and everyone was strapped in, Victory let one last shout. "I hope you're all in good and tight! The return's gonna be a hell of a lot bumpier than the arrival!" He had already begun the process as Blueshift was fixing the engines, since the system itself needed time. Fortunately, time was just enough on their side that he was able to kick the ignition in right when the process finished. Grabbing the controls tight, the hard material of the controls creaking a bit from his stronger-than-steel grip, the ship blasts off, scattering rock all about them with the force of the engines. "You better hold together all the way back! There's a spot in the aeronautical museum in it for ya!"
  7. Shall I wait for Dok to post getting back to the ship before I launch?
  8. Once he's given the signal, Victory finishes activating the last device. Once it begins the countdown, he grabs Push by the shoulder. "Alright, we're good to go here. Heading back to the ship now." Before the final word got out, Victory was already gone, his arm still holding Push, bringing him alongside. Before he even knew that they were on the way back, the two were at the ship, beating the rest back there by some time. When Supercape came in, he began the startup process. "Alright, so who are we still missing? Just Dok?"
  9. Well what i meant was he probably flew up to meet him on the way back to the Earth once the sign went up, but anyway! What sort of update?
  10. Victory waits patiently for the word to go, keeping his channel open. While he floats there, he switches to his analytical view, trying to gather as much information he can on the actual composition and perhaps even any unusual energy floating around. Keeping his recording software on, he gives a little shout just to check in. "Let me know when to hit it. And if you guys need a quick evac, shout immediately. Considering the size, I could get just about anywhere on the rock pretty quick in an emergency." Of course, the question becomes why doesn't he just go in himself? He wasn't about to say it to the rest (although Dok surely had figured it out early on in the planning stages), that energy flailing around....it's not the best thing for a body designed like his. At least for now... He makes a note for when he gets back to base, to add in with the energy recording: Deal With This.
  11. Sounds like a good bit of fun. Victory could've been one of the first to intercept him on the way back to the planet to say congrats!
  12. Victory smirks, hearing Push's objections over the comm. "I dunno, I think Dok's got the right idea on that one, Push." Holding his hand out, Victory takes one of the bombs from Archeville and begins to float....well...let's call it "up", for a relative manner of speaking. "Just give me the instructions, and I should be able to get them set up in a jiffy. Send me the exact co-ordinates you want them, and I'll get them done quick." Victory checks the recording software in his helmet, to make sure everything they've been going over is being stored without issue. They'll need to have this when they get back to Earth. If nothing else, it'd be for the sake of the history books. "Once I'm done, I'm heading back to the ship. But if you need me, I'm going to keep monitoring your locations from there, and can get to you at a moment's notice."
  13. "Agreed" Victory returns the hand shake, using his more flesh arm, as is his own personal custom. "Besides, I get the feeling that we have more similarities than differences. Anyway, good luck out there. I'm sure we'll see each other again before too long." After their shake, he gives the angel a salute, before watching him fly off. Once he was gone, Lance turned back to the grave, and he kneeled down once more. "Sorry about that. Good guy, though, eh? Anyway, I got a lot to tell you about this year...." He spends a good, long time speaking with the grave, and when he's finally done, he moves on, paying respects to the rest of the graves.
  14. Victory seems to find the answer somewhat more agreeable than he thought he would. A small smile and a nod says as much. Looking at the grave a moment, he lets his gaze drift to some of the others, particularly glancing at the various names. "That...is a fair answer. And I guess it's the one I expected, too." After reading a couple more, he looks once more to the angel. "And the one that sounds the most like one of ours. None of our soldiers can just go back whenever they please, either. I suppose the only real difference is the physical divider, eh?"
  15. His body has cooled a bit, since he had only been walking, but it was still noticeably warmer than a normal human. Even without the heat, a hand up against the metal can feel the whirring and humming of machinery beneath the shell. "It may sound arrogant to say, but I always felt like he'd be happy with where I am now. I know he wanted me to go with whatever I dreamed. And since I've always been in love with the sky, I know he'd want me up there." He stood again, lightly dusting his knees off, the dirt falling easily from the metallic "skin". "But it'd be good to know exactly how he felt." He turned to the Angel, his eyebrow slightly quirked. "Do you ever....go back up there?"
  16. "Angel children and elderly....quite a thought. Generally people tend to think of angels as ageless. Makes me wonder if Michael is still around and what he'd look like by now." When he reaches a particular grave, he turns to Angel again. "Excuse me a moment." He stops, and turns towards the grave, crouching down. "Sorry it took so long for me to get out here this year. It's been....a pretty eventful time for me. The project finally finished. But you'd probably be able to see that, huh?" He reaches his right hand over to his left wrist, which opens a small pocket. Removing a tiny object from inside it, he turns it over a few times in his hand. "I finally managed to find it. It was in one of grandma's old jewelery boxes. We knew you'd want it." Leaning over, he's careful to put as little of his body weight on the land in front of the grave as he can. He had moved the object back to his left hand, and, using the massive strength in that arm, he presses the object into the headstone, the pressure embedding it in, before standing up again. "There we go. Much better..." Once he stands, the Angel could see the headstone. The new object was an unusual little design, like a coat of arms. Perhaps a family crest? And the name was quite a bit more telling: Nathan Factor.
  17. Jackgar The Angel of Victory The Heroes Are NEAR!
  18. The question's a bit of a strange one for someone like him. The way pilots contribute to war efforts tends to be quite different from soldiers on foot. But he had done his own sort of fighting. "I was too young to fight during the last major wars. And when I did join the armed forces, I was a pilot. It's not quite the same as the men who went in and fought on the ground. But I was there to make sure we'd have to send as few men in there to give their lives as possible." Going over a few more graves, Victory finishes the row and speaks more as he moves to the next row. "After my accident, and when I became what I am now, I did help during the war against the Grue. My very first mission was to stop the landing ships. Fortunately, since they had no way of knowing that human technology could create something like me, I was able to catch them off-guard." "And what about yourself? Were you involved in.....how shall I say it....the heavenly split?"
  19. "If I remember correctly, Heaven's had wars of its own. I can only imagine what is done to remember the fallen from such a war." Victory takes a moment to go over another grave, his discussion pausing for a moment to continue his own personal vigil. As he passes another, he turns his gaze back to the angel. "Nike, eh? I'd studied some of the classics, myself. Greek goddess of Victory. Famous statue. But also daughter of Styx, and there's a thin line between attaining victory and taking a trip down that river. In fact, I was pretty close taking that long boat ride, myself, if it weren't for modern miracles and the grace of God...."
  20. Major Factor was rather deep in his thoughts as he walked among the graves of the fallen, and, at first, he thought the winged figure was just another statue. At first paying the figure little mind, when he saw it move, he took a closer look. His eye flashed for a moment, as his database brought up the file for Freedom Angel. Shaking the image out of his head, he saw normally again a moment later. Damn....they're happening more often....I didn't even have the helmet on the whole day this time... With his little "glitch" gone, Victory greets the winged hero, but with a much quieter voice than he usually speaks, out of courtosey for the resting. "I was thinking of it more as prayer, but I'd imagine someone like yourself would know a bit more about the topic than I do." Victory extends his hand as he got close enough, momentarily getting rid of the somber look he had while walking through the hallowed ground, with a professional smile. "You're the new Leaguer, right? I'm Victory. Sorry I couldn't give my congratulations earlier, but it's been busy for me lately."
  21. Even on Memorial Day, the threats to Freedom City take no break. Crooks, criminals, and wanna-be villains always think that, with the police on parade, that would be a good time to make their move. Of course, they never take into account that heroes don't take the day off, either. As much as he wanted to be out there to march, he had a job to do, and he would do it vigilantly. Fortunately, things began to quiet down, and Victory was able to take the time to pay his respects. His usual roaring rockets were quieter as he approached the veteran cemetery, before coming to a stop just outside the gates. Going in quietly, Victory removes his helmet, holding it under his arm. His heavy steps sink into the moist ground, and, as victory begins to walk slowly among the graves, taking time to read each and every name, he keeps some distance from the graves themselves. He wouldn't want to step too close, for fear of harming the bodies buried below.
  22. I'd like to add 2 Con to Victory to bring him up to 28/20, therefore bumping his Toughness and Fort by 1. DONE BY SHAENTHEBRAIN
  23. Victory gets the comm message and responds not by sending a message back, but by heading right on over. Indeed, weight wouldn't be an issue out in space, but it's a whole lot of bomb to put together. In a flash, he was in and out of the spaceship again, with two more cases. Going to the comm again as he stands by the Doktor, Victory also takes the chance to get a nice long look. "So, have you figured out the exact spot we're putting this, or will we have to wait for the others to finish their own survey?" Although he was outwardly focused on the mission, Victory can't help but be just a bit distracted by the scenery. Inwardly, he's a bit giddy. One day he'll be able to make this thing's flight look like a snail's crawl. He just knows it deep down. He used to think the sky was the limit. But lately, he's begun to realize that even the sky is just a launching point...
  24. Victory was a few steps behind the others, as he had to make sure to secure the ship. It had a very strong locking-in mechanism, so it should be able to stay attached as long as there's still something to be attached to. Once we was sure it was secured, firmly dug into place. He locked the controls and stood up. Floating over to the airlock, he had noticed Archeville was the only other one left with him. Presumably, to do some last check or other. Looking back, Victory smirked. "Well then, Doktor....shall we go make sure the kids play safe out there?" In a flash, his grin was covered with a mask covering his mouth, and a glint of glass shifts over his eyes, sealing him from the cold vacuum outside.
