  1. "I haven't worn a dress for, oh, a century..." replied Rene wistfully "..there was this particularly wild party in Paris held by..." He paused. "Ahem, anyway, I doubt I have the figure for it these days..." he continued, patting his midriff. He was not overweight, but at his age, his body had sagged a little. Still, for over twohundred years of age, he was looking pretty good. "But in other regards, I am at your disposal. What do you need?"
  2. "What on earth is that..? are you...? who...?" said a confused Supercape, lagging just behind Ironclad, maintaining the particular array of quantum strings that he had carefully erected to shield them (hopefully) against the Terminus Energy. The creature, he reminded himself, was not necessarily malign, or dangerous, based just on it's appearance. "Hold your fire!" he whispered to Ironclad. "Just what is going on here?" he said with more strength to his voice. "And, more importantly, how do we stop it?"
  3. Charge! (as in, Charge Rules!) 1d20+6=9, 1d20+6=13, 1d20+6=17 So a baseball bat and a crowbar to the face! DC 19 Toughness check x2
  4. GM "Ow!" yelped Gremlin as the Doktor's Nanites crawled over his skin, distorting it slightly. "You don't give up do you?" he shouted over the wind at the Doktor "I just hope this hurts you as much as it hurt's me!" he said, shivering with the effects of the nanites. "Don't you see, my crazy maker! You designed me because of your own weakness! I am stronger than you!" it gloated. "You made me out of fear!" it shouted "but fortunately, I am not blessed with such weaknesses. I may have copied your own desire for self defeat, by bringing this girl on board...and her very annoying little talents have proved most vexing...but unlike you, I can push the button!" And with that, Gremlin laughed, and thrust down both of its nailed claws into the wing, splintering and tearing it. The engine exploded, hurling the still laughing Gremlin off into space, and shredding the wing right off the plane, which promptly started diving in an uncontrolled spin, straight down to earth!
  5. Sounds Good to me! Drain Toughness 14 roll - Due to half immunity to tech, down to a Drain Toughness 7 effect. Reflex Save: 1d20+12=22 Safe! And now....! Gremlin has a powerful ability to rend technology (A Disintegrate 8 effect!). I am going to "wing" this (pardon the pun) and, giving you both 1 HP for the fiat, say he destroys the wing of the plane, sending it spiralling down to earth! Gremlin is thrown off into the void! Glow, could you make a DC 20 Reflex check to get back inside before also being flung off! And Just in case the little nipper is seen again: Gremlin: Injured, -2 Toughness drain. NB: Scuffles, you are of course free to voluntarily fail that reflex roll and go spinning off into the edges of earth's atmosphere! If Glow is thrown off, the bubble goes with her, still protecting her, but Dok needs to make a Cold Environmental Fort Check! Dok - 2 HP - Nauseated, Bruised x2, Fatigued. Glow - 3 HP - Injured x2, Fatigued (and possibly spinning of a broken off wing down to earth!) NB: Scuffles you are of course free to voluntarily fail that reflex roll for 1 HP, and going spinning off on the wing, plummeting to earth!
  6. Could I have a direct WISdom check please DC 10 (and 20 for higher insight). Also, a Knowledge (History) Check if you have it, otherwise an untrained INT roll DC 10 (and 20 for higher insight).
  7. (GM) Later... It was not far, and closer to the shore. It was, however, well hidden. In a crack in the groud, that Wave-Eye actually had to squeeze through, into a lightless dark underground cavern. "The field of the dead!" said Skull Face with a menacing tone. "Thousands died here. Most of the bones are rotted, but something lingers. Something that sends a shiver down your shoulders. If I had any, I would know. There are things down there!" he whispered, as Wave-Eye descended still further. He was right, it was cold, and dark, but something niggled away at Wave-Eye's soul... Down at the bottom, the skeletons lay, with spear and shield and knife, from ages past...
  8. Steam nodded without immediately answering. It was true they were young, inexperienced, and probably rash too. But on the other hand, they had abilities beyond that of normal men. "That remains to be seen, my amphibious friend" he answered, with a heaviness to his voice. "But neither are destined for a safe or mundane life, I fear. There mettle must be tested at some point, and in our current position, we could well use such a testing..." "And we ourselves may face peril. I, for one, have no intention of ending up dust, teeth, and hair!" he continued. "But there is a mystery here. Why the cut hair? Why seawater? curious...curious!" he muttered. He turned once again to the Captain, who was, he judged, being as honest as he could. "Dear Captain, what can you tell us of this something on the ship? please, calm your fear and go through the events as carefully as you can. Our survival may depend on the smallest detail!"
  9. GM The tall man, wearing overcoat and hat, strode from the Library with the copied book under his arm. "So close now...Vile will not like any mistakes at this point...somebody is too interested..." he muttered with a mixture of irritation and slight fear. The amazing hearing of El Subito could pick up the mumbled whispers even at this distance. He hailed a taxi and got in. Young Brittania and El Subito found it easy enough to follow, for it was not a long or complex route. The taxi pulled up outside a dark, crumbling side alley, into which the man strode. He stopped, reached down, and opened up a manhole cover, promptly descending into the sewers of Freedom City!
  10. Synth stopped, examining the pavement. "Curious" she replied, crouching down and trailing her hand through the dust and dirt. Ms. Synth? she pondered to herself in another part of her brain. She wasn't completely technically female, in the same way that she wasn't completely technically human. But it was close enough. She didn't really know what that comment meant, but it seemed somewhat overly formal. She flashed the King of Suits a quick smile. "Synth will do. No need for formalities..." she said with what she hoped was a friendly manner. She took a few steps in and almost bumped into the railing around the pit, but she never lost her footing. "Careful here, this leads down" she called back. She gave the ladder a little pull, and it seemed strong enough. "As does our journey, I think!" she added, proceeding to descend.
  11. Hoofing the boxer's stats: And their initiative: 1d20+2=19
  12. GM The citzen, so far unaffected by Print-o-morphasis, groaned as Protectron lifted him up. "10!" he winced in answer to the Robot's question. "Ah'm busted up bad man...everything hurts!" The man was probably exaggerating, but he was injured. Bruised and battered by a car sliding badly out of control. His left hand really shouldn't have been that swollen. But, whilst there were some scrapes and cuts, and he was spitting a little blood, it didn't look like he would bleed out. Of course, internal bleeding was another matter. Meanwhile, the roof of the Gym building, upon which the Golden hero had alighted, flew open. Three Print's burst out. These guys were dressed in boxing shorts and boots, moving with the strength and speed of fighters, even if not world class. And they were carrying weapons: a sledgehammer, baseball bat, and crowbar. Whilst the citizens on the ground had been ineffective, these Print's looked like the knew how to put a dent in the robot. "There he is! get 'im!" roared the first as they ran to the robot.
  13. Throwing you a Notice Roll in case its needed...1d20+10=20 And for his workman disguise: 1d20+5=10 not so good!
  14. Supercape concentrated a moment, and, with a bending of several dimensions, his image distorted and vanished, reappearing on the top of the building block. He looked down at his costume. The element of surprise was not to be thrown away lightly, especially given the dangers ahead. On the other hand, speed was of the essence. His costume changed to a generic serviceman's uniform. He could always pretend he was servicing the gas or water if need be... He lightly ran to the access hatch of the building, tugging it. Locked. With his mind fully focussed, he promptly untangled the molecules of the lock, watching it crumble and liquify. The door swung open with a tug, and he walked quickly down the stairs towards the dimensional distortion.
  15. Steam is now rather suspicious of the Captains Tale! In case needed, throwing you a sense motive roll: 1d20+15=34
  16. "Muaha!" smirked Lord Steam, a powerful magnifying monocle stuck to his eye, distorting his features. "There is more to this than meets the eye! even this eye!" he said, pointing to his monocle and promptly removing it. He stood up, dusted himself off, and packed away his tools carefully. "The teeth....heavily decomposed, most likely years ago. Salt and mineral deposits on them, so mostly they were exposed to sea water for a long time. As for the hair...manually cut, not torn or shed. " He turned to the Captain. "So, we have remains that most likely died years ago, in the sea, and hair that has been cut off. Can you shed any light on that, sir?" he asked, suspiciously.
  17. GM "Nochehuatl?" thundered the Kraken. "I have not heard that name from the lips of the living in ages...slayer, destroyer, warmonger. The dead speak his name still. The bones on the floor of the sea, where great and bloody war's were won and lost... "But as for my pale relatives, small and anaemic, I care not for them as they are. If they are enslaved, that is because they are weak. Only the strong are worthy of will..." With that, the Kraken flexed its mightly limbs, the ground shifting as it did so. Its temperament was not soothed but it was at least talking. "Don't push it..." whispered Skull-Face "...and he is right, there are fields of bones under the sea's from long-ago battles..."
  18. Enough to change it from Unfriendly to Neutral.
  19. You can sense the small movement of the book!
  20. GM In the Library, the same tall gentleman was wandering the isles. What happened? Somebody snooping around...but who? why? So close to... He stopped and clapped his fists together. I must see the book... He strode meaningfully towards the isle in question, and tugged out the replica book created by Young Brittania. "Here it is...." he said, scouring its pages carefully...
  21. Has anyone seen Azuth? If not...what to do?
  22. A quick question on that Dok: The Stunt you are pulling would (to my mind) be a concentration or sustained duration damage attack as the nanites would keep eating as long as you "command" them too. In retrospect the initial stunt should probably have been that. Also, Gremlin, like Glow is on the wing of the plane. Perception Range probably technically - or Indirect. Having said that, I'm happy to go with the above.
  23. Presuming time is not of the essence, taking 20 on search roll examining the "remains" site for clues, for a result of 30, then the same for investigate if any clues found for a result of 34
  24. "Teeth? Fingernails? Seafoam?" answered Lord Steam. "Now this seems like the kind of thing I could usefully take a look at!" he said, rubbing his hands with glee. He laid down his small kit bag, and opened it up, revealing a plethora of small, exquisitely made brass and coper instruments and tools, including what looked like a steam powered microscope. "Investigators tool kit" he explained "never go to a mystery without it!" He turned to the captain. "Thank you for your help Captain. If I could now ask you to, respectfully, lead me to the, errr, remains, I'll see if I can shed some light onto their fate"
  25. "Grim words indeed, my amphibious friend" replied Lord Steam, casually resting on his cane. "nice trick with the legs, by the way. Must come in handy for walking!" he added jovially. "But as for traps and wot not, I for one have yet to see a trap that cannot be walked out of, with the precise application of wit, will, and, in my case, steam!" "Firstly, we must reveal the nature of the trap!" he continued "and I am sure our captain has a tale to tell there....!"
