  1. Here you go, a less than outstanding roll.
  2. You've got a DC 23 Toughness check to make. Thought I'd notify you just in case.
  3. Knowing she's hardly the best at conducting a careful search, and still burdened by the unresponsive form of the shapeshifter, Mongrel Angel decides to keep watch while Catherine goes over the area methodically. After a few moments of thinking she speaks though. "If you need some extra light I think I can manage to produce something."
  4. I'm still interested, just had a busy time for a while now. Stuff to do on the farm, Midsummer celebration, and looking for work. Gonna try and get a post up later today, right now I'm too busy for more than this post.

    Like a Lamb

Alex only barely manages to avoid being trapped. Jumping out of the way she flails out again towards her attacker. This time the punch she throws connects.

    Common Cause

In case anyone fears I've abandoned this, do not fear. I've been a bit busy the last few days; work on the farm and seeking a way out of unemployment (as well as Tales of MU, wonderfully addictive in my opinion) have soaked up my time. By the weekend I hope to be able, at the very least, get some kind of structure prepared for beginning the second tale. Though I would appreciate a census of who is still interested, or has become interested, I think the very nature of it all will allow for a certain amount of "drop in, drop out" in thread. I'm also going to start asking around tomorrow to ensure a backup GM (or two) for when the seemingly inevitable time comes when I just drop of the face of the earth for something like a week.
  7. Exile might hopefully fit in somewhere. As for why; he's bound by oath, pact, and treaty to provide assistance in instances like this.
  8. Apart from the fact that it isn't a blast but rather a strike from what looks like a black sword I would just like to ask why no toughness is drained. I assume, given the mechanical nature of the robots, that they lack a Con score, correct? One may also assume they have Immunity: Fortitude, this of course is what I presume you're thinking grants the necessary protection from Exile's drain effect. In which case I ask simply whether or not you've taken into account the Affects Objects Extra of that effect? If you have I would like to ask why I'm spending points on what is suddenly a worthless Extra for what is meant to be one of my most effective attacks? Since as far as I'm aware everything without a Con score is more or less required to have Immunity: Fortitude Affects Objects becomes utterly worthless if it fails to do what it is meant to: allowing an effect to affect objects/constructs. As I understand it Affects Objects is meant to, as it can be put, trump Immunity: Fortitude. An example of this might be found in this discussion over at the Atomic Thinktank. If this isn't the case in the opinion of the referees' here I would like this to be stated in the Game Rules Clarifications. And if so is done I'm going to promptly head over to Character Edits to change the save for the drain effect; it would even save me points after all. If you think I'm somewhat longwinded and trying to rules-lawyer my way to unwarranted power, I'm sorry. It's just that this isn't a minor matter; among other things it messes quite majorly with the perceived effect of my Black Blade power, and in cases like this it's a major point concerning the effectiveness of ones powers. In this particular case it's difference between an Injured condition and Disabled or even outright Dead. As a construct (i.e no Con) the robot only takes Lethal damage according to the rules.
  9. Opted for Aggressive Stance, seems to pay off. Same saves and DCs as mentioned in the last post. Mind you, I've currently got a defence of grand total -2 so I bloody well hope there'll be no one left to have a shot at me.
  10. Frustrated by his initial failure to bring down the mechanical guardian in front of him Exile chooses to discard what little defensive posturing he still retains and gambles on there not being any retaliation after his next strike. His gamble looks like it might pay off.
  11. Understood that, done similar stuff myself at times. And I understand stating up a "dream-version" of a character first and then filing them down, it tends to be how I end up working. This lady for instance started out two PLs and 230pp over the standard playable level, took a bit of work to file down.
  12. Fair enough. I personally see nothing wrong with someone spending more on Penetrating than they've got in straight Damage; it might be simulating an attack capable of, in theory, at least nicking anything, or anyone, not straight out immune to the attack.
  13. Exile might find himself doing fringe work for this, though I don't think he'd get much deeper than that. Most of what he'd do is likely tied to his nature as a mystic, helping out in the event of something arcane or occult gets tied up in the organization's dealings. Of course, being a wealthy resident of the area in his secret identity he just might end up being targeted by mistake.
  14. Jack-a-Knives runs around with Strike 2 [Mighty, Penetrating 18] so I would think that it's legal to at least have a Penetrating score higher than the damage. On the Impervious part, most GMs would likely oppose it but there's nothing I can find the rules which makes it illegal.
  15. Ah bugger. I finally manage to boot my brain into proper posting mode, and by the time I get this far it's to tired to get something adequate done. Any problems with Mongrel Angel arriving slightly late? Not by much of course but enough that my late post (which will actually get properly done tomorrow) will make a bit more sense in being, well, late.
  16. Exile's answer to the arrival of the robots is quite simple in its intention at least; remove this new obstacle as expediently as possible. The way he acts on that isn't quite as simple, though it is straightforward. Deciding that since these mechanical guardians can't simply be subdued, and kept intact, through the means at their disposal just about anything goes. The ancient mystic distorts space through sheer willpower, with no one needing to be fooled he doesn't bother with any extraneous gestures or words. Besides, he'll need his concentration firmly on what he's about to do. Stepping out behind one of the robotic combatants the tall wielder of magic pours most of his available power into bringing into being what was once one of his most formidable means of attack. In an instant what seems like a black sword of simple design comes into being in his right hand, and the moment it forms he swings it against the back of the foe. As it moves through the air the blade doesn't seem to catch the light in any way. This is quite natural for the item in question, since there isn't anything there to catch the light, nor is anything there at all.
  17. Sorry about the delay, currently working on my post. OOC summarization of it goes as follows: Move to M15 using Spatial Control, switching AP to The Black Blade as a Free Action Attacking the M14 robot, due to a desire to actually hit the damned thing spending one of three HP to reroll the attack. Which manages to hit just the number on the virtual dice to remove a certain hit. Unless I'm getting anything from possibly surprising the tin-can it's a miss. If I do hit it the bucket of bolts can suck on a DC 27 Drain Toughness [Affects Objects] and a follow up of a DC 27 Toughness. In case the metallic one gets to suffer any Knockback, ignore it since it wouldn't fit the descriptor of the attack. So for the moment I'm leaving my post open ended.
  18. You could probably work for Nightshyft as part of his bodyguard company. You'll have to check it with him yourself though.

The woman doesn't react quite how one might expect; she doesn't scream, or try to run, or faint on the spot. Instead she jumps to her feet and spins in place vigourusly trying to hit the much taller fighter, trying being the word.
  20. Oh, got a nice roll for that. Initiative roll for Like a Lamb (1d20+1=20) By the way, do you have anything against me getting to keep the effect of my Luck feat?

The young woman in question continues reading, blissfully unaware of the fact that someone's stalking her.
  22. Sorry for the late, and rather skimpy, responce. As for the fact that Imposter is currently getting a ride, I figured it'd be the best way to keep him inactive, until his possible return, without having to just leave him behind.
  23. Mongrel Angel nods in comfirmation as Nightshyft sets off at point. While the overweight mage takes the middle position, a bit behind their seemingly most experienced member, the winged girl picks up the incoherent lad and, barring any complaints, rest him somewhat over her shoulder as she goes to make up the rear of their imprompto little party.

    Character Edits

I'd like to have Mongrel Angel spend her 1pp on the following Dimensional Pocket 1 [100 lb.] [Grapple Required [-1 Flaw] (1) A nice little convenience power, and given how few pockets most Super-costumes have it'll come in handy (in minor ways) more than once I wager. Updated by VM.

    Character Edits

Exile is finally going to be paying for the mansion he's living in; so his one pp is going into a rank of the Equipment feat in order to pay for the following: The Gentle Mansion [HQ] (5ep) Size: Large (2) Toughness: 10 (1) Features: Library, Living Space (2) Currently rather bare-bones and worn, the Gentle Mansion had stood for three generations by the turn of the last century. For the last forty years the increasingly withdrawn Howard Gentle has lived alone here devoting most of his time to study of the occult. Lately it seems to see a little more activity with a young, and fairly distant, relative of the old man having moved in. ((In a while he'll be adding a bunch of other stuff, but that'll have to wait until I actually have the pp for it.))
