    Common Cause

Me being currently slightly lazy, and tired (four hours of hard work out in the sun, not very restful that), I'm just going to let you folks read a rather lengthy, though slightly edited, quote from yesterday's conversation in the Chatroom. Right, you managed to make your way through it? Any thoughts or questions regarding it?
  2. Late to I may be I might as well add my voice to this chorus. Happy birthday.
  3. Since symmetry is appreciated around these parts here's the relevant OOC thread for the occasion on which Bloodseeker is actually going to have some success for once. If he can't manage to beat up Mongrel Angel who's four PLs below him he probably should throw in the towel.

    Like a Lamb

Riverside park, a pleasant enough place to spend an evening. At least Mongrel Angel thinks so as she usually makes at least one circuit of it whenever she's actually out patrolling, and in any case the entirety of Riverside is pretty much her favourite haunt in or out of the costume, patrolling or not. Depending on who asks, and what mood she's in at the time, she'd answer the question of why in a few ways. The general charm of the older buildings, the vigour of the younger people who so often frequent it, the lack of tall buildings which would cause bothersome wind currents, or the special kind of bookshops catering to certain segments of society, segments which she could identify with. Currently she's sitting just outside Memorial Grove perusing a comic (('ware ze link, it almost comes close to being very mildly NSFW.)) she'd acquired a little earlier. In her opinion a rather enjoyable read, she was passably familiar with the characters in question which adds the enjoyment factor, and the translation seems to be rather good. To top it all of she's more or less alone since no one else seems to be present in or near the grove. Though she could be mistaken on that last bit...

Gonna shine your flashlight in the eyes of the enemy eh?

    Character Edits

A Perception Range effect doesn't need Affects Insubstantial, it's automatically included.
  7. Ah, good to know it occasionally pays of to put a little effort into ones posts.
  8. Crappiest Initiative in the thread At least I can't fail my Notice Roll against DC 10, but just for laughs I'll tempt gods of virtual dice. At least I didn't lose a high roll on this. Oh, and Exile's still hiding just how good he is; he doesn't need to speak or gesture to attack someone.
  9. Exile realizes he'd neglected keeping track of what went on inside for a few moments when he hears the ruckus caused presumably by Babd coming from inside rather than any questions or affirmations from his companions. Immediately refocusing noticing what's going on beyond the wall in front of him he notices that, predictably, one of the guards is down and the rest are either trying to do what they can to stop the intruder or rushing to see just what happened. The guard on the roof catches the ancient ones attention, an opponent in such a commanding position can't be left in place for long. Tapping into his potential for twisting reality through mystical means the black-clad one cries out four harsh, even inhuman, syllables in quick succession and slams his right hand straight down through the air, the air around his gloved hand seemingly contorting itself, shimmering as though part of a heat-mirage. In response a similar phenomena forms above the hapless guard and races downward pulling the air, or rather space itself, with it thundering into the unfortunate guard and slamming him against the roof leaving him unconscious.
  10. Even if they're locked I doubt they'll hold up for more than a few moments if Ironhide starts pounding on them.
  11. Mongrel Angel's up for it in any case, though it's not certain whether or not she'll be able to secure any donations. Exile might decide to check it out, though obviously not as a part of the proceedings.
  12. I do believe Icarus has terminated his working relationship with Talos, and as far as I can make out he's mystically bound to the soul (or something like that) of Icarus rather than having any blood ties with Daedalus. I've got some expanding to do on the information for both Exile and Mongrel Angel, once I actually get some of that done I'll inform you seeing how you're in charge of this list and all.
  13. The white haired mystic ceases his mumbled chanting, about halfway through the second verse. "Let's see, there's a few boats and two yatchs being repaired by five carpenters, and four guards. Two of these are guarding a set of double doors to the right, probably where our objective is. The other two are roaming around the room." He looks at each of his two companions as he continues. "I believe it'd be best if you two downed the ones by the doors in a few moments when me make our move, Babd and I can handle the two roamers. We'll see what to do with the carpenters once the guards are down. Any questions? If not let's go and cause some havoc."
  14. My complaint at all would happen to be that Exile's hair happens to be white, apart from that I must say it's a nice, and useful, map you've provided.

    Exile

((Starting out somewhat slowly perhaps, but I gotta start somewhere.)) Exile's thoughts on various entities Alex "Mongrel Angel" Dhalzind-Laharen Not much to say yet, what with so little contact made as of now. Given the responsibility placed on me concerning her, such as it is, this likely to change. I have a nagging suspicion I will end up as her instructor in some way, I can only pray that if this comes to pass she won't be too bothersome and inattentive a student, or too curious for that matter. The world doesn't need yet another dabbler in the mystic arts liable to overextend his, or in this case her, capabilities.
  16. I honestly don't know where this would go if it becomes a reality, though either here or the Character Bank seem the most likely. And one thing I forgot to mention is that this might help people more easily realise if a character isn't quite fully in their category. Nanowire, Legionnaire, Imposter and Exile could be described as to some extent be sitting somewhere in a grayzone for various reasons.
  17. I've been thinking for a few days, about the characters on the forum, potential storylines I'd like to pursue with mine, and such things. And I realised that one thing which might help at least some of the folks here on the forum with getting to properly use their characters would be some sort of register or list with just what "niches" our various heroes and villains occupy. It needn't be elaborate or so, though it might help if the character in question is complex in some way, but something like a line or two, perhaps a paragraph at most. While for some this wouldn't be needed to get into play it might help some of us, such as recent arrivals or otherwise unsure players, either starting or getting into play and developing stories. Just for an example of how this might look I skimmed, very lightly, the Character Bank and picked a few characters to use. Captain Wonder; Veteran, used to the big league, fought in WWII, recently out retirement. His connection to the Egyptian Pantheon could discourage or might draw out mystical/mythological foes while old wartime troubles might seek him out as well. Apart from that he's well known as something of a classic hero, and not just because of having been active back in those days. Emmissary; Very active, public face, could be said to be something of a posterboy. Not too much is needed to get Emmissary to at least try his outmost (which is rather a lot) to do what is right and good. Sure it's not much of an example, and honestly I'm not sure if I've manage to express my thoughts properly, but it's something. What do you think of the concept?
  18. I'm standing with Void and Ironhide, as detailed in my IC post, right next to the wall right beside the doors. And since you weren't specific, here's one roll for each skill. Go with whichever one you feel is most appropriate. [YJ] Notice roll for Spatial Awareness scan of the warehouse (1d20+12=14) [YJ] Search roll for Spatial Awareness scan of the warehouse (1d20+8=25)
  19. The healing had been put a little more strain on her than the mixed-blood lass had anticipated, which is why she needed to take a deep breath before answering the white-haired vigilante. "You're welcome." Realising she'd actually become a bit stiff from projecting so much of her soulfire in such an to her as yet unfamiliar way. Most of this sits in her upperbody it seems as she tests herself slightly. Grunting slightly she starts to stretch a little while the other two confer regarding the attackers they're after.
  20. Using my Spatial Awareness to check out the inside; do you want a Notice or Search check?
  21. Exile chuckled slightly as he heard Ironhide's question just as he stepped out next to him. "I do believe we will break in but..." as he speaks the tall mystic walks up to the nearest wall of warehouse and places his outstretched right hand against it. "There's no need to rush in without some intelligence concerning where our objectives and opponents are." With that said he begins mumbling in a language that sounds like it shouldn't be issueing from a human mouth, and given that it was the ancient speech of the serpentfolk of Lemuria this wasn't too strange. As he let his awareness of the physical world sweep over what was on the other side of the wall he smiles inwardly at the thought that the arcane and mystical sounding words he uttered wasn't any spell or ritual at all and in fact formed an old nursery rhyme with parallels to Itty bitty spider.
  22. I suspect he's playing Pseudo taking on Barnum's roll and persona, and if not he's now been supplied a loophole.
  23. I too would greatly appreciate even just the prospect of a second PL 10 character. In the case that this ends up as a privilege for "Gold" status players my biggest worry will likely be lasting until I meet the requirements; I've already got a third prospective character lined up...
  24. As for him landing in prison, seeing how he's still "merely" human he'd land in South River instead of Blackstone. From there he could probably either escape on his own or manage to instigate and lead a riot, subsequently getting away either on his own or with a number of other criminals.
  25. You might want to head over to the bank in Wading Way and help out with stopping a little classic bank robbery. Mongrel Angel's likely to head over there, but on her own she'll end up trashed.
