  1. New in town, nothing she had to do; Alex felt like a tourist. Granted, she'd behaved somewhat like one as well thus far, though not all that many tourists are capable of flying under their own power. She's spent hours soaring above the city and its surroundings, greeting the dawn while seated atop the great Sentinel by the rivers. In the end it was hunger more than anything else that had driven her once more to the ground. Once down there, and with her wings melded away for the moment, though she had no problem occupying herself; a whole new world meant a lot to see and do. Granted, much of it was new slants on things she already knew of, or simply things she recognized from other times she'd been out somewhere. Cell phones for example were something she recognized easily in concept; small and portable long-range communication is desirable just about anywhere, and audio only tends to be easiest. What was mainly new for her this time around were both the technological basis, as opposed to mystical or psionic she'd seen before, and the sheer number of them. As she was chilling out a bit in a bar somewhere in, well, frankly she'd lost track of where she is; going around the city on foot was certainly different than flying over it, the Channel 3 news could be heard in the background. The silver haired lass however was paying more attention to the small beer she'd finally gotten her hands on after spending several minutes arguing with the barkeep; he'd only relented after procured to sets of identification and drilled into him that she hadn't grown an inch in the last ten years. Listening with only half an ear she was halfway down her longed for drink when she picked up "...third mutilated body..." from the news. The subsequent mention of her name, or rather some who shared it, gets her to pay more attention to the rest. By the end of it she'd finished her drink and more importantly figured out what she'd be doing next. After all, she'd need to give this Super Hero stuff a try sometime; it was what she was here for after all.
  2. Wilhelm arrived on the deck of the old oil rig he'd been told was called The Arena; stepping out of seemingly nowhere he casts a look around. The exterior wasn't much to celebrate, except perhaps for how well it served to downplay the significance of the location. He was somewhat surprised though to see Legend out to greet him so quickly, though he'd been told that the guardian here was certainly competent enough. "Welcome Wilhelm von Treissen, now also known as Exile. Your, I suppose 'patron' is the best word, has informed me about your situation. He's graciously decided to pay whatever tab you amass in pursuit of your currently set goal." The white haired mage took off his hat, held it against his chest, and gave a slight bow as he was greeted. "Well, thank you Legend. I have been informed of your roll and the rules and purpose of this place; rest assured that I have no intention of breaching any of them. With that said, I bid you a good day." His piece said, the tall shapeshifter once more dons his black bit of headgear and heads towards the main building.
  3. Mongrel Angel's available as a Hero character, freshly approved as well.
  4. Ah, you've returned not long after I found my way here. Nice to see you Pelle.
  5. Exile isn't currently involved in anything, and the one thing he's going to be involved in (i.e start up) is likely going to wait until Avalon gets Vestige approved. But then again he's a bench sitter for this most likely. Mongrel Angel isn't yet approved, but hopefully should be soon, so she'll likely be available. Edit: Mongrel Angel just got approved, she's ready to have a first go at this Super Hero stuff.
  6. I'll have a got with it, just don't expect much in the way of initial skills or feats with that tall order of powers. As for the Reactionary, shouldn't be too hard. In either case it'll likely take a day or two for me to get anything done.
  7. Certainly fully understandable that Exile in this case is something of a reserve option. So, in the case you just get a few other petitioners he'll get to have some action, otherwise he'll simply stay out of it. Fine with me. And that smiley is up to something, I just know it.
  8. Hmm, though Exile is technically a Villain he could fake a hero-persona in order to establish something of an "insider link" in the hero community. It's actually something I've been thinking of doing for a while now; an intelligent shapeshifter with flexible powers and above average social skills might be able to try and pull it off. Besides, might make for some fun roleplaying.
  9. I've recently hatched a plot for Exile to put in motion, one that'll require some assistance. I'll see whether or not I'll actually get going with it today, or tomorrow for that matter, but anyone who might actually be interested might appreciate the heads up.
  10. While I'm interested, I'm not so interested that I'd be willing to give up my secondary character since I've got a concept for that which I've spent some time polishing.
  11. Alright, one at a time. Wouldn't be too far off, my longest established rp character could probably classified as one. But then again he/she (yes, both at once) is so messed up it's pretty much impossible to spot the poor teacher of Illusions it once was. The name comes from, well I frankly don't know. The first time used it as anything but a moniker on the net, which was hardly a week after registering with it, it was for a Drow smith with philosophical tendencies, and a swiss army-knife on a stick as it was dubbed. Man, that stick was good... Ahem, since then I've used for a couple of other characters, including a Mercenary Clerical-commander of a group of combative clerics (man did the poor enemy hate the constant healing) and one of a couple of personalities who've taken up residence in my poor teacher's fractured mind (told you he/she's messed up). And I do hope to enjoy my stay here as well. Gender ambiguous, oh I've had a couple of avatars which could hardly be classified otherwise. Here's a couple of them, linked to save a bit on space. And I'm glad to be here as well, and I might as well add that I found my way here through the link in your Signature over on the Atomic Thinktank.

  13. While in the process of working on a new character (PL 6) I stumbled upon a problem with how to turn a power as a concept into stats. I've got a couple of ideas of how to get what I intended, or at least close enough, but I would like to know what the, for this board, official stance happens to be. Now, the power itself. The Concept: Upon death (or the very close proximity of it = dying) the character is teleported away to a safe place (in this case a previously prepared summoning circle) where the character simply lies until resurrection kicks in from Regeneration. The Stats: I've found four ways I can make it work, with varying degrees of cost, splitting up into two groups. I'll include the projected cost for what I need (minimum) for the power to work as intended. 1a: Simply using Teleport with the Anchor and Long-range flaws, along with Triggered and possibly a flaw limiting it to only triggered. This one's the cheapest and probably simplest way. = At either 2ranks/ppt or 3ranks/ppt plus a power feat this comes in at either 5 or 4pts. As an added bonus I could have Wilhelm perform pretty much the same trick using his high Spatial Control along with Triggered. 1b: As above, but with adding in a new extra called (for example) Dead Man's Switch, just in case anyone objects a power kicking in at death. Slightly more expensive, but still manageable. = either 8 or 5 points, still manageable within my budget. 2a: Teleport, Anchor [-1 Flaw], Long-range [-1 Flaw], Action: Reaction (Death/Dying) [+4 Extra]... as you can see this ones horribly expensive coming in at 4ppts/rank for a power which isn't actually all that much. Its only real plus is that it's pretty much indisputably legal. = A horrendous 28pts, almost a third of my entire character budget and way above the meager 10pts I've still got to toss around. 2b: Teleport, Triggered, Triggered Only [-1 Flaw], Dead Man's Switch [+1 Extra]. This version assumes that I'd only take one or two, possibly three, ranks, sets the Trigger condition to be Death and with a preset final destination for a series of hops my poor body would have to take. This is possibly fairly cheap, but dubious and not quite what I have in mind. = 3pts and up, adding 2pts per rank. So, what say the Powers That Be?

Myself I've gone with using Graf Herrman, a minor villain from Mahou Sensei Negima as my avatar. As for why; I simple like his style.

  17. Might as well introduce myself while I take quick break from other things. I go by the name of Nyrath on a number of forums, have been doing so since I first ventured out on them in fact. A few of you might know me from the Atomic Thinktank, and it's from there that I've drifted in. For some reason I've, multiple times, confused others as to my gender while on the net, something I've at times found amusing. As for gaming, I was introduced to it by my parents over a decade ago in the form of 2nd Ed. D&D. Nowadays most of my gaming is in the refreshingly flexible system which we use here, a system I was introduced to a couple of years ago in its first edition. That'll do for now, gotta go feed the bloody stupid sheep...
