  1. "Well I mean his parents have a pretty big say in things..." she started to say and then realized that she was perhaps being a little to pedantic. "No! I mean, you're right, no handing over and we need to be back before 10 PM Eastern Time too! All of this is so not on the approved list either." Then a little quieter, "but I think the three close to us are all pretty good." Turning to Lawrence she took his hand and asked, "do you know where we are, or more importantly, how we would get back?"
  2. Zhu blushed and looked down at the snow covered ground still balancing on one foot. "So... do you think of yourself as a girl?" she asked, "I mean you look like one and all. You're actually very pretty." She sighed and relaxed her pose, standing normally in front of Replica, "I get told I'm cute... or I've had people ask if I'm someone's younger brother before... that's the worst. It would be nice to be noticed for something other than being smart. That's all." She smiled, "I guess talking about vanity to an android is probably kind of silly."
  3. "So you have other bodies?" she asked wobbling slightly on one leg, "I mean... do you switch them out like clothes?" She considered what it would be like to be able to switch bodies without constraint and exist as an intellect. For herself, while people told her that she was pretty and cute, she knew that she wasn't developed anywhere near as much as girls her age and looked far younger than she was. It was just genetics and perhaps some late blooming, but she did worry about it. There was the picture on Jessica's phone that she had seen and how he looked at that red skinned girl. People didn't see her like that, and while it wasn't a daily depression, it was something that seemed to pop into her thoughts on more than a slight occasion. She shook her head, "I think I'd love to have a different body."
  4. At that moment Zhu would have killed for a hook up to whatever passed as the internet in this neck of the woods. While she had a phenomenal memory, being able to look up who people were or do photo matching was something that she relied on. The three people that were close to them were not recognizable, although she was sure that she had seen the reptilian on the cover of some science fiction magazine. While she was happy the creepy parental copies had disappeared, she wasn't sure that they were any better off. "Rev... are these the good guys or the bad guys?" she asked looking around at the floating people and the large reptilian. She really wanted to trigger off the code she had written for the snare, but if they were the ones who had made the pretenders disappear then perhaps at least some of them were friendly. The robed guy was obviously not, but could they hope for three out of four?
  5. "You are going to have to tell me what it was like to float through the internet," she said shaking her head. "I can access it with my mind... well at least through a phone or computer, but still I do a lot of surfing and things. However, living as a unique entity you had to have a very interesting perspective." She looked around, "I should do my Yoga while we're talking." With that said she got back into her rising tree position, "I'm supposed to do this every day to practice concentration." Then continuing on, nearly without pause, "as for my nanites. Well... I started with simple machines and then began to miniaturize. I..." she cleared her throat, "...might have borrowed research from a number of universities and combined their work into my first few prototypes. In fact my first few nanites were the size of handballs. The tricky part was making them self replicating. Once I had that part down, it was a matter of refining their code so they made successively smaller and smaller copies. So I basically made a large first generation and then worked with their code to make them make themselves smaller."
  6. "Wait, did you say you created your own body?" she asked incredulously. "I thought your creator made you. So when you were stored in that computer you figured all this out?" She stared at her again with newfound appreciation, "What did you use to model what a person was like? I mean, how did you even know what to make?" This was something that she hadn't even considered. It was one thing for an inventor to make his muse, his siren creation. It was another for a machine intelligence to fabricate a body that could both pass and act as human. She wanted to know more!
  7. While she wanted to kiss the ground as they finally landed, she didn't. They'd be back, she knew it and nothing she had tried had been remotely effective. It was worrying, but she had promised to watch over Lawrence and she wasn't about to give up at all! "No they won't!" she agreed with Rev as she watched around to see where they would appear from. "They can also home in on him..."

  9. The boy didn't bother to look up from his game, "no, I don't control anything. I just can see thing through my games... but you both make sweet characters. You should come around more often. But, that's a video game, I'm Damien, they're bangers, and... um... oh I'm in Junior High." The cartoon Jack performed some kind of moving knocking a thug down before the bright words FATALITY flashed on the screen and bear Jack ripped the spine out of one of the thugs, holding up the grisly trophy and grinning at the trio watching. Rev's arms were flashing across the screen ala Street Fighter style and was battering the thugs all over the place and juggling them in the air. 15 HIT COMBO! Flashed on the screen as another one went down. From the kitchen they could hear his mother cooking something and the aroma of something sweet baking floated through the small house. "Usually the characters I get lose pretty badly. It doesn't make for a very good game. The bangers seem to always be better than anyone they fight and I hate it when that happens."
  10. Thank you! I don't need to add anything more based on that roll. Not in combat and can post freely.
  11. GM While it was not immediately obvious, but a glance confirmed, that the characters fighting on the screen were small representations of Rev and Jack as a bear. A second glance showed that the background appeared to be the bowling alley that they had just left. Their opponent were the thugs and even some of the background people were faces that the pair could recognize from the alley. "I hope your friend is okay," the teen said without looking away from the TV.
  12. "Hey that counts!" she cried out as the pointed out that his foot did indeed count for a hit. However, her cry of triumph was short lived as she had to duck behind her barrier as Jack's return toss was far more accurate and hit where her head had just been! That had been too close as she tried to keep watch for the other boy.
  13. If you could please both give me a Notice check before posting.
  14. GM The imposing woman shook a thick finger at them that looked like she could crack walnuts with, "my baby don't leave the house long enough to be bullied! I don't think..." She was interrupted by a quiet voice, "it's okay mom, I know them." With a last disdainful look at the pair, she harumphed and walked towards the kitchen, "fine baby, but I'll be in the kitchen making cookies. You holla if these... I don't even know what they are bother you." "Thanks mom..." he said, "I'll be fine, they'll just be a while." As the two entered the house, they got a better look at the boy who was playing some kind of video game. He was about 14 and looked about as unathletic as could be. His unkempt afro seemed almost comical on his head as if he just didn't care about his appearance. He never stopped playing the video game, which was some kind of fighting affair.
  15. Zhu held on for dear life. Flying was scary enough and while she wanted to help her friend, there was little she could do when there was no materials to work with. Her botnet was reporting that there was no materials to work with even as she tried to create some kind of barrier for Lawrence. There just was not enough material in the sky to make it happen. At least her eyes were starting to clear as tears from the blinding flash streaked down her cheek. So instead, she held on to Lawrence tightly and shouted, "faster Rev! Faster!"
  16. I think you are probably right... still, babysitting! Can't give up!
  17. Will Save 1d20+8 = 13 Reroll with a HP... Will Save 1d20+8 = 22 -1 HP
  18. "I always worry about gra... GAH!" she shouted as the fuel bomb went off blinding her! She staggered around for a moment before calming and using the botnet to tell her where people and things were. It was sufficient for her to get a bearing on all of the Pretenders who were closing in. Using Rev's idea of getting some breathing space, she sent a string of commands to the holoprojector on her wrist. Instantly, lasers, music and other distractions filled the area around them as fantastic beasts sprung from the ground and a truly epic soundtrack from her last video began playing to a synchronized beat. Of course, just as the Pretenders didn't respond to the illusionary Lawrence, they also ignored all of her holograms as well as they seemed to bear in on them with little worry from either the flare or the distraction.

  21. GM Jennifer stepped out near the carcass of a dog which had been hit by a car earlier in the day. The alley she found herself in was grimy and dirty and reeked of refuse which hadn't been collected in far too long. The towering brick buildings on either side of her had a utilitarian construction as if the builders hadn't really cared what the end product looked like. The pavement was cracked and potholes decorated its tarmacked length. Five dumpsters lined the alley and besides the wrought iron fire escapes, there was little else of interest here. There were no street signs and this was definitely a new city for her, while the alley was easy enough to navigate, it took more than a few minutes to get her bearings and walk down the run down street through one of Bedlam's commercial districts. As she approached the address, it appeared to coincide with a Deli called Bickle's Pickles. Like much of Bedlam, this eating establishment seemed to have survived through the years on a shoestring budget. The windows had a film covering them from years of being washed and then covered with the salt from the roads in Wisconsin's harsh winters. Inside, ceiling had a plaster art deco drop ceiling along with a large counter and dozens of formica tables and battered chairs. Still, the smell of Pastrami and Bratwurst permeated the room and the people looked reasonably content with their fare.
  22. So... the ever slow Zhu tries and... Initiative 1d20+5= 9 Really, it's almost comical at this point
  23. Zhu nodded in agreement, "yes, we're not on Earth, I'm pretty sure of that... but where I don't know. There's not much of an internet here that I can access for reference. Pretenders works pretty good for a name as well..." She looked around the area they were in and nodded towards the direction that seemed to have less beings and hopefully more cover and concealment. Standing in the middle of the path was not helping them at the moment. Then, as they started she looked at Rev, worried, "do you think that we'll get an excused day? I had a quiz and I don't want to get a failing grade on it..."
