  1. well his battles aren't really the same he's a rookie at the hero thing!
  2. Dark Star chuckled at her surprise. "I did no such thing! I was waiting in plain sight, not concealed at all!" His form didn't exactly allow for facial expression, or show it at least. He'd gotten used to using his voice and eyes to convey unspoken communication, like his mild amusement. "Not a problem. I tend to travel rather fast, comparitively. All's well. I choose to wait in here since I didn't want anyone else to notice you had some...super connection. I didn't know if you kept a secret identity or the like and decided er on the side of caution." Another chuckle. "No, I'm not a ghost though that's not the first time I've been called something similar." He shrugged. "Technically I was once a regular human being. Now, I'm a gravitic energy being who can occassionly become human again. Just not easily or quickly. Maybe someday but..." He just let it hang there with a shrug. He did miss being in physical contact with people. It certianly made dating rathing difficult. But he'd gotten used to it; mostly. Maybe someday, he mused to himself. "Basically, I'm a living dark star. A previously thought-to-be theoretical star that, due to being slightly out of phase and along with the energy patterns produced, make it completely concealed from us while still producing the gravity, energy and radiation most stars create." He paused and chuckled. "Sorry about that. Once upon a time, I was a scientist." "Hmm. Well, since you don't need to eat or drink, that takes care of that. A set of clothes you're comfortable in I suppose. It's almost a full day round trip. More if we get sidetracked. But given your immunities, there's nothing essential you need. All that's left is personal preference I suppose." He smiled inswardly at his rather rambling words. While he wasn't a total hermit and had chatted with people and aliens semi-regularly, long period of solitary exploration had made him a little chatty when he wasn't paying attention.
  3. tried to grab the Captain with TK: TK to grab the Captain (1d20+6=7) YIKES! HP to reroll that! HP to retry that grab... (1d20+6=21) So close! but not enough I believe...
  4. Dark Star scowled as he watched the Captain roll over. "What the heck is he..." Then the punch into the ceiling and the Captain was shooting up under Dark Star's own power. "Gotta be kidding me.," he muttered as the Captain suddenly zipped out of sight, and the Doctor took off in hot pursuit through the same hole in the ceiling. Sighing, Dark Star turned and zipped through the wall in a flash to stop before the Captain. "You really need to stop this now before you get seriously hurt." He reached out with the his gravity control and attempted to snag the Captain but the slippery rascal just refused to be caught. Even if by the slimmest of margins.
  5. Dark Star had just finished speaking when the voice sounded forth. He looked at the figure with one raised eyebrow. Obviously the man had power. And knew Scarab. But beyond that, Dark Star had no clue who this guy was. He was about to ask that very question and then noted his companions' expression. He gave a mental shrug and stayed silent to watch and see how whatever this was played out. But considering the other unexpected guests this night had seen, he was keeping his guard up.
  6. Dark Star sighed as he looked through to where the gate to hell had been moments before. Not for the loss of the vampire, but for the poor possessed man that he had been unable to save. He knew the guilt was illogical but it was there nonetheless. Finally he shook himself from his dark mood and turned to the situation at hand. He drifted over to Scarab and Hellbound. With a simple gestured he extended his energies towards them, healing them of their wounds. "That was well done." He had serious doubts about their ability to beat the Necro-King. Or at least without taking some losses that is. Scarab had managed to bypass that battle for now. "Is everyone else alright?" "I'm with you of course," he said in response to Scarab, not considering her previously bluff as needing a response.
  7. (psst....I'm still here. no NPCing me anymore) Buying it hook, line and sinker! no chance to beat that bluff! (1d20=14) So anti gravity on the elder and Bel (yes I know it won’t stop him from flying into hell, but DS has to ‘try’). ST 50 = 25.6k lbs shoot upwards to 50’ and not sure how falling works whne it ends. Even if it doesn’t hurt, it’ll buy the heroes a few moments while Elder resets. Using an HP for a second action. Using another HP to make an AP off of array for Insubstantial 3: affect others and the various immunities for him (as DS has). Think that works. Comes out to be 33pts. If math is off, all I really care about is the insub ;)
  8. Dark Star wasn’t used to these small chaotic battles. Things in space were much easier. A couple hundred miles between ships was considered pretty close. And the targets were much bigger out there too. Here everyone was jammed together, taking random action. There was no coordination amongst them. They were not acting in concert. Teamwork was needed… Avenger and Arrowhawk needed support against the Elder. So did Hellhound, Divine, Knight, and Scarab. And a newly freed mortal was being lost as well… "Avenger, Arrowhawk! Get Ready!" DS quickly gestured, causing the gravity of the area, but specifically for the Elder and the mortal, to become very high anti-gravity, causing them to shoot 50’ into the air. He doubted it’d work to save the poor man’s soul but he was running out of options. Maybe it would buy someone else a chance to act. Unfortunately, the reversal of gravity would only give everyone a momentary respite as it was very temporary. He turned back to the Necro-King, ending his anti-gravity field and thus causing the Elder at least to fall back to the ground. DS focused on his ally, concentrating and focusing. This was not something he’d ever tried before… "'Bound, this might feel a little...wierd." He reached out with the energy of his being to Hellhound and altered the man’s structure, pulling him closer to Dark Star’s own form. Hellhound would lose consistently, turn black as the night, and become a gravity being himself. For a short time at least. But long enough for Hellhound to slip the Necro-King’s formidable grip. “As Scarab stated, you cannot have him.â€Â
  9. He brought the house down. Well, the ceiling at least. Floating down to land with the others though off to one side, it became chaos in an instant. People dying as the way of energy lashed out all around. Dark Star reeled as well, wincing as the energy tore into him. He shook his head and pushed past it all as he surveyed the area and assessed his options. No fiddling with gravity at the moment. A huge 'demon' of all things and the staff wielder were too dangerous. Hellhound and Divine were tackling the staff wield lunatic...he had no shot there. He saw Avenger charge up and land a crushing punch into the demon's gut...which seemed to do nothing. That sinched it right there. Dark Star extended on hand and thrust it at the demon, blasting it with his Graviton Beam. The beam slammed directly into the demon's chest over Avenger's head. The impact tossed the hellspawn like a rag doll, smashing him right into the precious altar. "Think I got him..." Dark Star said to himself with a wry smile.
  10. Reflex: Not even close! Reflex Save! (1d20+3=8) Fort: Fortitude save (1d20+4=18) So (according to the experts!), I'm bruised and stunned. I'll burn one of my HPs to remove Stunned! And notice: Notice (1d20+7=26) Though I've got no knowledge on this, I roll...badly. Knowledge: Arcane roll (of which I have none) (1d20=7)
  11. He isn't? I thought he was just pinned to the ceiling now (until I drop him/pin him to the ground).
  12. I was figuring they'd all be lowered to the ground by Scarab as DS brought the roof down (or whoever) and then inits. But whatever woks.
  13. Please! Some pathetic prison designed for normal people hold someone as AWESOME as the Captain? Don't be silly! :)
  14. Uh...yeah...justice is a tad slower here... (improved initiative here I come! for the next thread anyway) Initiative for Low Places! (1d20=4)
  15. Dark Star nodded as Avenger's and then Scarab's words. "Can do. Everyone gather close together. Scarab? Some specific directions and I can have us there before they can even blink. Would you like me to 'bring the roof down' on them as well as soon as we get there? If you want that big and shocking as well, I might need Scarab to hold the lot of you aloft for the second it takes." He shrugged his shoulders. Once it was settled, he simple nodded. "Everyone set?" As soon as everyone was ready and DS knew exactly where to go, there would be a brief moment of acceleration and they would be be there.

    Dark Star

((part 2)) Anyway, I’d been there for a few months, I’d lost track of time again, when a ship came in with their regular supplies and to transport the minerals out. It had a happened a few times before while I was there. However, this time someone was on it. He was an older man, called J’hdar. He was some kind of investigator official. Apparently word of my presence and arrival had filtered back so they sent someone out to check up after a while. He was a tough and crafty fellow, no question, and despite his middle age he could certainly hold his own. By now I had a handle of the basics of the language so that wasn’t a big barrier. J’hdar was a good fellow and became a good friend. I spent a lot of time with him and he became one of my main contacts within the Lor Empire. But at that point, I was an unknown and possible threat to the Empire. We sat down and talked for quite a while. He spent a week there, interview the workers and myself. I kept quiet about Earth, not quite ready to tell where I was from. (Not that it mattered since it turned out he already knew.) Finally, he was returning to report in. He offered give me a lift and show me a b it of the Empire. I accepted obviously. While I could have beat his ship to it’s destination many times over, I flew inside with for the company. While I missed flying through the stars, I wasn’t quite ready to return to my solitary explorations. And it turns out, if I hadn’t, there was a good chance J’hdar and his ship would have never returned. Anyway, we stopped at multiple planets along the way. Not sure exactly how long it took. Maybe 3 or 4 weeks all told? I learned a lot of the Empire, quite a bit really. J’hdar was picking up various sensitive materials before bringing them home. I never did find out exactly what they were. But whatever it was, it was important. Turns out, one of the crew was a mole. His gravitic signature was different from the others but it wasn’t like I knew what it meant. There were lots of aliens out there. That this one was different didn’t cause any alarm to me. Anyway, we were about to leave the fringes and head inwards. There was a malfunction with the hyperdrive, sabotage it turned out. There were 3 other ships just waiting with boarders close to docking when our ship slowed down to normal speed and drifted along. It wasn’t exactly a leap to figure on a spy on board. Especially when they started demanding we turn over everything of value and surrender. A trap obviously. Our ship wasn’t tough enough to take on the other 3, even though they weren’t heavy warships or anything. Just mercenary pirates basically. And we weren’t big enough to be a merchant either I was told. Down in our hold, the saboteur was already trying to get access to the materials with a bunch of pirates. J’hdar and his guards headed down to try and stop them with me in tow. J’hdar and his men were tough characters. But they were badly outnumbered. But given my presence, things went much better for them. We took care of them in no time, the pirates retreating to their ships. J’hdar captured the spy as I flew out to help deal with the pirate ships. They might have been tough, but when I’m standing on their engine, they couldn’t exactly do much to shoot at me. It wasn’t easy obviously, but I have quite a bit of power. But I didn’t want to kill anyone; I ended up just taking out their various weapons. In no time, the pirates were running. It turns out they had been hired by some other alien to ambush us, never really knowing what was going on. Our saboteur was a Grue. A shapeshifter. And a minor one at that. He didn’t exactly know the details either; he claimed he was just a pirate. J’hdar suspected that the employer was also Grue and the whole thing was set up for the Grue to get the stuff in our hold without setting off a larger conflict. Aliens use plausible deniability too. That’s how the Grue work. Secrets within Secrets. Plots within plots. Basically, they’re sneaky. Combined with their advanced technology, it makes them a real threat obviously. The Lor are advanced too. But they aren’t nearly as aggressive or militaristic as the Grue. “Anyway…that was my first encounter with the Lor and Grue. Certainly wasn’t the last. Further recordings will expand upon subsequent encounters. End recording.â€Â

DS looked at the recorder and with a little telekinetic nudge flipped the one switch. “Ok, this is recording 21 for the SCC. As per standard procedure, I’m recording this on multiple recordings to detail various accounts of my travels. Specifically, this is dealing with my first encounter with the Lor and subsequently the Grue…†I flew through the void, the distance between stars crossed in moments. I had been travelling for over ten years at this point, though didn’t realize it then. My speed was pretty close to what it is now though my other powers were not nearly as developed. I was simply more interested in exploring the universe than practicing. I’d visited thousands of worlds, at the least, by then. There was always something so new, so fascinating just around the next star. I was mostly on the far side of the galaxy before this. I’d met multiple species, observed even more, but didn’t communicate with too many up till then. And those that I did talk with were able to bridge the language barrier in one way or another. I hadn’t really encountered any massive star empires yet. A few systems maybe, but nothing like you’d read in science fiction with empires massing hundreds of systems. There were plenty of places I missed of course, countless places still to see, so they could still be there… Anyway, I was slowly, if somewhat randomly making a circuit of the galaxy when I first encountered the Lor. They were so human looking, it threw me at first. It was this frontier planet of theirs. Something with mining a rare mineral I think. Breathable atmosphere but rather unpleasant environment. Big storms, rocky. Not a lot of plant life. It sure wasn’t a paradise planet. Remind me to tell you of some of those later! Where was I? Right, the Lor. Honestly, I was feeling a little lonely at this point. And seeing the oh-so-human-looking Lor drove that home for me. I ended up floating down and set about introducing myself. It wasn’t easy, believe me. It took a little effort and a fortuitous accident before they were willing to stop treating me like some kind of space monster. Anyway, so I’m floating down and, since I’m visible, of course they start panicking and getting nervous. These were just regular folks; miners mostly. A bunch of them ran off to get help I guess. There was a panic and one of them must have bumped a switch or something. This giant crane/drill thing they were using suddenly spun off and slashed right through this big warehouse. Explosions and chaos followed. It started with some reinforcements showing up and blasting away at me with this little energy pistols while others tried to help the minors. I couldn’t communicate and try to would have taken too long. Luckily the little blaster pistols didn’t do anything to me. Turns out they were some old or cheap versions (* Refer to 4C for more detailed accounts on the various power levels of their technology). I mostly ignored them and tried to help. I wasn’t too good at the small stuff at that point but just moving big things was easy enough. I spent a few minutes clearing debris. Moved that big crane-drill off to the side before moving the debris. Whatever was in that warehouse wasn’t the most stable of substances. It took me a bit to a make sure I had gotten everyone too. Thankfully they had stopped shooting me at this point and did their best to help. Once I had found everyone, I went around making sure I healed everyone up. That took some effort too. They weren’t exactly trusting and since I basically had to touch them, it was a tad awkward. Language was still a serious barrier but helping out by healing a few of them went a long way to building some trust. Not a lot, but it was a start. Well, I spent a few months there, learning the basics of the language as I helped them mine and whatnot. Kind of my way of paying them pack for screwing things up. Met a few good people and made some friends. Maybe not boon companions but they were good guys. I found out later that the months I spent there, they had record profits. Some of those guys did pretty well for themselves. Good for them. I should go back and visit them at some point…
  18. Hey all Going on a minivacation from Wed afterroon till Sun/Mon to relax with the family and my in-laws. (Guess how much relaxing I'll actually be getting?) Anyway, I'll most likely be without 'net access so no posting for me. I'll get back into the swing of it when I return asasp.
  19. LOL I love it when those happen (assuming done well). Funny! I'm in!
  20. Ok, editted the post to reflect the single action (ie not both) and the damage. Heh. Gotta remember that. Will save the 'down' for his next bit...assuming Arrowhawk doesn't knock him out of course.
  21. Not sure I can do both in a round (if we're in rounds)...if not, then that's his plan for the next two rounds...
  22. Dark Star eyed the Captain curiously. "Whoever he is, he is definitely a hardy individual." The Captain and Arrowhawk grappled, somewhat ineffectually and Dark Star frowned. "Let me try something else for a moment...I do apologize about this but you're not making this easy." The last was said to the Captain as Dark Star suddenly reversed the gravity, still only including the Captain, causing the man to shoot towards the ceiling. The man slammed upwards and into the ceiling, causing the area around the Captain to be crushed somewhat. "Oops...Sorry! I'll have that fixed! Really need to remember that," he muttered to himself. He was used to things being made of much sturner stuff. He'd have to keep such things in mind in the future.
  23. Not doing 2 seperate attacks. stopping the first and 'attacking' again. since I can't move the area or anything, have to start over. He has a 50' radius, so that's 100' diameter. Should be easily enough to get them (or at least the one who are attacking near the door), but since the initial area is set, he has to target a new area. Or am I totally wrong in this?
