  1. This is the OOC thread for the confrontation between Jack Faretti and Mr. Pitt.
  2. Jack stood alone in the lobby of the Imperator Hotel, nearly invisible to the eye except to the most observant. It was a simple matter to walk through the elevator doors and drift up the narrow shaft, the relatively slow ascent giving him time to think. He was in a black and red suit and tie suitable for vampiric socialization, a bottle of blood in his hands that had come with him through the transformation. This was a social call, even if he was coming without calling ahead to knock the man off balance. Hopefully he wouldn't need to beat Pitt into torpor with the bottle. At the top of the shaft at the penthouse level, he passed through the doors and reformed, waiting to be discovered.
  3. "Your discretion. Tomorrow. Important that the task is done. Will see you soon." Avenger took that opportunity to hang up, leaving himself with plenty of time to get his own work done. It was time to pay a visit to Mr. Pitt in his own style, the better to keep the two halves of his life from colliding.
  4. Upon arrival at Doc Archeville's place, Avenger was confronted with the difficulties of a closed door. The stealthiest person in the world couldn't enter through a sealed door, and she was sure that Doc Archeville had installed some sort of sensors around the door she didn't understand. Science wasn't something Jack really followed, not enough to deal with it in a comfortable, honest way. Besides, she reminded herself, in the current situation, they needed to do something as a gesture of trust. Despite a powerful innate reluctance, Jack knocked on Archeville's door.
  5. "Ah, the hard stuff." For a moment or two, Jack was the small-town kid trying to socialize with the kids in the big-city clubs. He hadn't liked it then, either. "Yes, well, I think we've all had a chance to show off our respective talents tonight." He needed these people, irritated or not, and he wasn't going to go out of his way to alienate them. The thought of betraying Archeville's secret never crossed his mind. Predators did that sort of thing to one another all the time. He shot a quick smile over at Debbie, one that didn't quite reach his eyes despite its perfection.
  6. Let's start a couple of new threads. After all, while Wesley and Grim meet each other, Jack and Mr. Pitt have a considerably more monstrous meeting as well.
  7. Not sure if you were asking for a double-confirmation, but I'm still in.
  8. Avenger is (surprisingly) still on the phone.
  9. OK, fine. I'll just drop the Animal Control from my sheet for a month. That should pay for everything. Done by Sandman XI
  10. I would like to buy: 4 ranks each of Bluff and Diplomacy Luck Startle Ultimate Skill (Stealth) Looking forward to Gold. :)
  11. It would give Jack a chance to test the truth of all the stories his old friends have told him.
  12. "When convenient. But tomorrow. Grimalkin. Assistant of Nightrival. Woman. Perky." Avenger didn't sound entirely enamored of the fact, but he didn't sound opposed to her either. "Will alert you to Mr. Pitt's nature if encounter becomes inevitable. Believe the situation can be averted with a minimum of bloodshed. Will appreciate you doing this favor for me. A vital service." Because I certainly can't set foot inside a church without a very good reason.
  13. The investigation was a frustrating one. Avenger took the liberty of slaking her bloodlust in the Fens. It was a painful, palpable effort to wait until she saw the commission of an ongoing crime; the urge to feed and rend and kill to satisfy her horror at the violation of her body was very strong indeed. But Jack kept things together despite a bloodlust he hadn't felt since not long after he'd been brought over, dragging a helpless mugger into a dark alley and beating the man into an unconscious heap before burying her fangs into the man's neck and feasting. In the mirror of a sleazy gas station bathroom afterwards, Jack stared at herself in the mirror as she wiped her pale skin clean of blood. Look at me. Just look at me. With any luck, she'd never know how close she'd come with Geckolass. And with any luck, they'd never come that close again. Despite an urge to flee, to stay away, Jack wasn't stupid; he knew that the only salvation he was going to find was with other superheroes. When she was sure she could control herself in the presence of others, even if they taunted her or made her life more difficult, Avenger gathered herself up and began the trip to Hanover.
  14. "Tomorrow. Our Lady of Mercy shelter. Father Murphy. Tell him you've come to help Grimalkin with her problem. Grimalkin is potential Knight." Jack hesitated a moment before going on as two drunks lumbered past. "She will ask for help fighting a very powerful man. Call me before you fight him. Understood?"
  15. "Wesley." Avenger's voice was quite a thing to wake up to, especially in the dead of night. Jack was alone by the Waterfront as they talked, by all appearances just a tipsy guy talking intimately to one of the pay phone nearby the the Atlantis Casino. The streets were nearly empty thanks to the rain, just the way he liked it. "Need a favor. Can you assist?"
  16. "You're not." Was that a smile in Avenger's tone? With his whole body swallowed by darkness, it was exceptionally difficult to tell either way. "Will see you are contacted. May be associate. Trustworthy. Soon." He disappeared in the conversation without another word, leaving no trace behind as he first disappeared into the Freedom City night and then rose high above it, heading for one of his private pay phones to place a call to Wesley's number at the Plaza.
  17. Hey Doc, Just double-checking that you had no problem with Avenger knowing where Doc lives.
  18. Oh, OK! My mistake, I forgot what you'd told us about the costume layout. I'll post an edit right now. EDIT: Edited! That's a DC 20 Intimidate.
  19. I'll post as soon as I've got my Info. ;)
  20. OK, obviously Avenger does not actually rip Vulture's eyes out of his head. But he does throw a DC 25 Intimidate at the boys, thus making it seem very credible that he's going to do just that! He's inexperienced enough in group fighting that he doesn't worry about what Slamdance or Scarab will think of this...yet. He then launches a full on +5 Power Attack. This is for non-lethal damage.
  21. Jack felt blood vessels in his head break, the stolen blood inside his body leaking through his undead flesh. It hurt, and told him how quickly he needed to end the fight. When he looked down at Vulture again, his eyes were red. "I am an avatar of the damned. I am the blackened soul you have summoned from the depths of Hell!" His loud voice echoed through the fight, loud enough for all the teenagers to hear. He brought his hand up and smashed it brutally into Vulture's costume midsection, directly over the teenager's face.. "TWO!"
  22. Missed by one! Ah well, not a bad outcome for getting ganged up on. Do I need to make a Concentration check to maintain the grapple?
  23. :( With one of his new hero points, Avenger passes the Will save vs. Mind Control He blows all his remaining HP on first power-stunting an Enhanced Will Save off his Animal Control (representing his undead mind's innate ability to assert control rather than _be_ controlled), then rerolling the Will Save vs. Shark's attack Either way, whew, going through HP like hot-cakes, here. :)
