  1. "Oh, you tease me," Jack replied with a warm smile. "I like that. A man should be able to deal with flattery as deftly as he deals with an honest compliment." He watched a vein pulse in Archeville's neck and reminded himself sternly how impolite it was to stare. "How well would you deal, I wonder, with a challenge?" he asked with a cordial laugh.
  2. Used an HP on that roll. Forgot to mention that. :D
  3. Avenger is using a full +5 Power Attack on Vulture for non-lethal damage.
  4. It would be so easy to kill the boy. Jack could imagine how very surprised Vulture would look when his claws tore out his throat, the delicious way his fear would flavor his blood as it poured down his throat. But that would be wrong, he forcibly reminded himself, and worse it would be problematic at best with all these superheroes around. "You know nothing of fear. Of pain. I show you." He'd shown Vulture mercy before, and gotten nothing but ashes in reply. He wouldn't take the boy's life. But he wouldn't let him enjoy it, either. He lifted Vulture up high, where the others could see, and then brutally smashed the boy's face into the ground. "ONE!"
  5. "Well." Avenger was eerily silent for a long moment before reaching behind his head to unhook his hockey mask. The ski-mask underneath came off with just one pull, revealing a shockingly beautiful face underneath. The growly-voiced, mad-eyed Avenger turned out to be a beautiful man with soft red lips and deep black eyes, his face soft, delicate, and lovely. "Let's discuss this like adults, shall we?" he asked, the refinement in his voice making a parody of Avenger's rants. "So you found some connection between myself and the vampire elder?"
  6. "Issues?...you know, I'm not even sure I want to know." Jack smiled at Archeville. "You are a fascinating individual," he agreed warmly. "By all means, tell me more about yourself," he suggested, his voice rich and friendly, his smile eager as he looked the scientist over.
  7. "This. Is. No. Time. For. That," said Avenger to Archeville, her husky, sensual voice full of the promise of silky murder. "Need to find. Otaku. You Are. Scientist. You Will Help. Important that we all behave. Normally." Avenger's voice sounded even stranger than one would expect, shifting through tones until it found something like the deep growl the others were used to hearing from the hockey-masked hero. Jack was glad for his masks; it was impossible to hide his fangs when he was this absolutely horrified and infuriated.
  8. Avenger is doing non-lethal damage. Though he is sorely tempted...
  9. "Warned you. Warned you what I would do to you." Avenger went for the screamer first, letting Scarab deal with the hoodlum who'd injured her in her own fashion. He whispered Vulture's true name like a lover as he went for him like a tiger at its prey, leaping into the air and coming down hands-first on the little hoodlum's face. If all went well, he took the downed boy by the arm. "Now you will pay."
  10. That's correct. Avenger smells like men's cologne, bad liquor, and blood. About what you'd expect a crazy, violent vigilante to smell like. ;)
  11. What are you saying? (For the record, Avenger seems perfectly human if you don't have detect life/magic/undeath.) :D
  12. Avenger leapt out of the broken window, describing a perfect aerial somersault before crouching into a landing from the three story jump. The dark, menacing vigilante had been replaced by something else. The tight black leather outfit made no pretense of hiding the lush feminine curves underneath, nor did the sweeping cape and long, lustrous black hair cascading down her back to her shoulders. The hands were bare too, the fingers beneath long, delicate, and very pale. Only the hockey mask had survived of the original outfit, concealing the face underneath even though its shape had obviously changed with the new body. "Need. To. Find. Him." The pitch of Avenger's voice had changed, higher and more feminine, but the husky, murderous menace inside was by no means softened. "Who. Did. This?"
  13. While the assembled Knights of Freedom studied their new circumstances, there suddenly came a huge crash from the nearby abandoned building as a half-broken window overhead shattered. An entire institutional-sized bathroom sink came tumbling down from the second floor window, falling to the asphalt below and shattering into three pieces in a shower of debris that nearly hit the startled heroes below. From the blackness above came a scream of red, murderous rage, one pitched rather high...
  14. "Quietly," replied Avenger, his voice implacable and flat. "Was in the area," he added, a trifle more sociably. "Saw you. Knew you wanted me." He shot Wesley a look, keeping the impetus to talk on the other man.
  15. I just want to give Scarab a chance to post, and then I'll post too. Technically Avenger has already woken up and taken his action, after all.
  16. Wesley was on his way back from a very successful gig in the early morning hours of one warm Freedom City spring. He'd done an entire garage band tonight, the Screaming Skulls having decided to celebrate their first record sale with a joint tattoo of their skull-faced, flaming-headed logo across their backs. The guys in the band had paid well for their matching tattoos, even the ones who'd needed to borrow money from their moms. Ah, to be sixteen again and full of dreams for the future. He stopped at a red light just as he got onto the interstate from Grenville, leaving the suburban bedroom community behind him. He was just pulling onto the highway proper when Avenger spoke to him from the seat next to him. "Wesley. You wanted to talk."
  17. This is the OOC thread for the "In His Den" thread between Avenger and Wesley.
  18. I will be posting last, given Avenger's reaction to this turn of events will not become obvious for a couple of seconds. Avenger has apparently disappeared. For those who want to see a black-clad figure disappear into one of the nearby abandoned buildings, the DC is 30. And if no one's in shape to notice now, don't worry...they will very shortly.
  19. Aight, I think we've all had our say. Avenger _is_ coming on the tour! So, D-A, do your crazy thing, and we'll have our tour off-camera...
  20. All right, hmm. I'll actually change that to a use of Intimidate, then. Avenger's Skill Mastery gives him a DC of 25 for that, and it has a more certain effect on all the boys. He'll move on to attacking them later. Just for fun, though, I'll use that HP to acquire the Startle feat. :D
  21. Trying something new for this one, always fun! I'm power-stunting Enhanced Feats: Fearsome Presence 7 off Jack's linked Insubstantial and Flight, giving him a total of Fearsome Presence 9. The subsequent Will save is DC 19, and he gets his opponents in a range of 45 feet. In an animated series, exactly what he says is left off-camera, with the viewers seeing only the reactions of onlookers.
  22. Avenger felt a surge of cold fury shoot through him at the sight of the lurking boys, a feeling of rage burning in his undead heart that made him feel alive again for all the wrong reasons. Vivid images of ripping the boys apart shot through his mind, as well as no little regret that he hadn't beaten Vulture to within even more of an inch of his life. "If you boys don't stop this $#!@ right now, I'm going to..." Shouting at the top of his lungs in the broken sentences of a psychopath, he then proceeded to lay out in gruesome detail exactly what he was going to do to Vulture, Fox, Shark, their families, their friends, their beloved pets, and even their sweet old grannies.
  23. "Oh, I like to think I'm a man of my hands." Jack laughed again. Wonder what he...nah. Probably not safe. Though smart and handsome is usually a good sign... "But nothing like you, I might add!" he added with a rueful smile on his face. "I mean, I've seen people like Daedalus or Dr. Atom on television, but not many people I know just fly in the window using equipment they've built themselves. I think you quite stole the show."
