  1. Grim cautiously moves further into the warehouse along the western wall, looking to get a better view of the proceedings; with her amazing eyes, the room appears well-lit, but she still has to strain her senses to locate Nightrival. At least she has a better look at the unloading operation now.

I bet those bricks are the drugs...wait, it was drugs we were looking into, wasn't? I need to spend less time think about Ren and more time paying attention during the briefings.

She looks at the crates, and stokes her invisible chin with an invisible finger.

I wonder if I should try and grab one of those bricks as, like, evidence, but would that be admissible in court?

Grim quietly moves as close to the crates as she can, waiting for an opportunity to grab a brick, if she ultimately decides to do so.

  3. Is there any chance we can say then February PPs were applied to characters for this storyline? It was started January 31st, and we did say time has passed between 'Learning the Ropes' and this one; If not, it's cool, I'll shut up :)

  6. Lynn is almost able to keep it together, until Ren holds and kisses her, and then she totally losses it; tears roll down her cheeks as she grabs him back fiercely, the hiccupping sobs first seen in the garage returning in full force.

At least I don't have to worry about my make-up running, since I just 'make' my own.

She laughs at some private joke, which seems to help, and leans up to give Ren a quick kiss on the cheek; feeling safe and happy in this stranger's arms (but is he still a stranger?), she realizes Mr. Parker is speaking again.

"There's people like that. They don't deserve the title of parent. It looks like you've turned out better than they have," he says, then seems to remember something. "But you said that you had family here, didn't you? Do you want to go see them after dinner?"

Lynn nods vigorously as she wipes away the tears. "Yeah, my Grandpa Louis; I always called him 'Grampaloo', like he was a Muppet or something." The memory makes her smile, and she tucks her head into the crook of Ren's arm.

"Can I talk to you in private, outside?" he asks. He doesn't look like he's going to start pounding on Ren, but more like he wants to talk to him about something that he doesn't want his father to hear.

When Sean at last speaks, Lynn sits up and turns to Ren; she glances between the two young men, and then nods to Ren as she untangles herself from his loving grasp.

  9. That would work just fine, but I was thinking more along the lines of setting it up like this board. (I'm kinda fond of the setup here :) )

    Administration Forums

    -Rules, News, Characters, etc.

    A City Forum

-Subform1 (for places around the city)

-Subform2 (for places around the city)

-Subform3 (for places around the city)

-Subform4 (for places around the city)

    . . . etc.

    providDelving Forum

-Subform1 (For GM A's Dungeon Delve)

-Subform2 (For GM B's Dungeon Delve)

    -Subform3 (For GM A's 2nd Dungeon Delve)

    . . . etc.

Or, if the delves were short enough, just put the delving threads (each delve would have 2 IC and OOC) in the same forum.

    Something like that, I think.

I think this sounds like a good idea, but there are ways you can incorporate some of the stuff Dr Archeville suggested (greetings, Doc!); if the city is divided into quarters, each quarter can have a theme, like the Temple District, Merchant's Quarter, Red Light District, Wizard's College, etc.

I think another good idea is not to just limit the adventures to dungeon delving - wilderness adventures can be a nice change of pace, especially for druids and rangers, so some sort of 'Lands Around the City' sub-forum would also make sense.

If you're looking for help, I would be more than willing to pitch in; I'm trying to limit my actual online GMing time quite a bit, but setting up regions of a town, providing plot thread ideas, stating major NPCs and the like I'd be totally down with any time of day or night (well, not when I'm sleeping). What setting and rules edition are you using? I would also love to play in such a forum as well.

  12. Great ending, Heritage. :D Veiled Malice, that was a exciting action scene you wrote for Nightrival. Thanks!

I suppose this thread can be locked up and we can start a new one?

Thanks, this was fun, except for the two Bruised levels, of course. The good thing about Grim taking a few hits is she will be strongly motivated to go after the Brotherhood now, due to her embarrassment and general dislike of skinheads.

Ooh, I have a name for the new thread! I'm going to create the OOC now.

  15. The mention of the superhero wall makes Lynn smile, but one sip of her beer pretty much wipes that off her face; she does her best to hide her grimace while wiping her mouth with the back of her hand.

And why do people like this stuff again? I wish they had wine coolers in the past.

"Well, we're not from around here, you might say," he replied, swirling his beer about without actually taking a drink. "But we are enjoying ourselves while we're here, thank you, Mr. Parker," he nodded gratefully towards his host. "I'm originally from Japan, but I'm finding life in the US to be... shall we say, exciting? The sights are wonderful to behold, and all the people have been very nice."

With that last comment, Ren looked over at Lynn and gave her a wry smile.

She returns his smile, then looks back over to Sean.

"Me next, I guess; I'm from Atlantic City originally, but, ah..."

Her eyes flicker nervously between Sean and his father; this is a bit awkward to say in front of a parent.

"Well, I left home a few years ago; things were pretty bad at home, with Dad out on disability, and Mom always drinking and blowing the grocery money on lottery tickets, so..."

The tiny heroine has never looked smaller as she intently picks at the fabric of her skirt.

"One less mouth to feed, y'know? Probably the best thing I ever did for them."

She takes a deep swig of her beer, sniffs and wipes the corners of her eyes.

"AC is a dump, anyway; nothing for me there now."
