  1. When she hears Mr. Parker talk about the war, Lynn gets a chill and tightens her grip on Ren's hand; of course she had heard countless stories from relatives, both from the Old Country and here in the States, passed down as part of her family's oral tradition, but nothing as powerful as her Grandpa Lou's tales of fighting the Germans in Italy. He never sugarcoated it, and she always appreciated that.

"Dad!" he shouts. He doesn't even seem to notice the other people as he rushes into the house, letting the door slam behind him.

"Sean, wipe your feet!" his mother yells from the kitchen.

The young heroine stiffens and sits up a little straighter when Sean comes in, her whole body taut in anticipation of any possible confrontation.

  4. Now Grim felt bad for Nightrival; sure, the wind in her face was very unpleasant, driving a fine spray of salt and grit into eyes, nose and mouth, but the cold which had no affect on her must be cutting though her mentor's suit like it wasn't even there. When at last they started to slow down, she unconsciously patted his shoulder with a comforting, chameleonic hand before she leaned in to speak right into his ear; she did her best to pitch her voice at a loud whisper that would (hopefully) not be heard over the noise of the engine.

"You want me to scope out the joint first and report back?"

  7. Nightrival tightens his fists. "I know these guys," he whispers. "They call themselves the Brotherhood; a bunch o' skinheads who harrass folks or just shake 'em down for their cash." He ducks his head back into the shadows and turns to Grim. "I dunno why they're drifting over ta this side o' the 'hood. They're gettin' bolder."

He opens his hands and grips the ledge as he surveys the two crooks. "There's just two of 'em. Ya take the lead, I'll be right behind ya."

There is no mistaking the almost feral edge in Grim's voice when the invisible super speaks.

"We get to beat up skinheads? Well, that just made this little Jewish girl's night."

She quickly makes her way down to the alley and gets within ten feet of the punks, and then she does something surprising, even for her: she drops her blending ability and makes herself fully visible, smiling with her hands on her hips.

"Shalom aleichem, boys; nice night for a little B and E, huh?"

  10. I'm ok with Nanowire deciding to gang up on Icarus. OOC, I recognize that what he'll be doing is wrong, and even he will recognize it at some level IC. His greatest flaw is that he's selfish. The world offers better things for him than the one he has, so he wants to try to fix that world than return to the one he had.

Which all makes sense, since he's an actual bad guy, as opposed to Nano who's been trying to be a bad guy, at least up until recently :)

  13. "Let's go," he whispers.

Grim nods out of force of habit, even though her mentor can't possibly see it. As quietly as possible she follows him, her claws making the slightest scratching noises as she does her best to find purchase for them; even though their not very loud, to her each scrape is deafening in its audibility. When she reaches the top, she gently lays a hand on his back to let him know she's there and okay, something she's been doing since the first night they worked together.

  16. "There it is. Nice one, Grim."

Grim smiles to herself, glad for an acknowledgment that she actually knows what she's doing.

I'm too hard on myself; just because I screw up from time to time doesn't mean I'm not good at this stuff.

He arrives at the building closest to where the sound was heard. "Stay low and don't get spotted," he whispers. "Always scout yer target before confrontin' 'em." Slipping into the nearby shadows, Nightrival creeps to the edge of the roof and looks down.

"Not getting spotted is what I do best."

She disappears from human sight, opting to stay low anyway out of habit and precaution as she follows behind; when she's beside Nightrival, she whispers a warning so as to not shock him into attack mode.

"I'm putting my hand on your leg, so you know where I am."

After gently placing a small hand on his well-muscled thigh, she also peers down into the alley, where a break-in appears to be in progress; from their builds and movement, it looks to be two young men, both with shaved heads, wearing black leather jackets. They've smashed the safety glass on the rear entrance to a warehouse of some kind, and one is trying to reach inside to unlock the door while the other keeps watch.

  19. I have 4 pp to spend for Grim, and here's what I've come up with:

Increase Acrobatics from 4 to 8 ranks (1pp)

Add the feat Attack Specialization (Strike) (1pp)

Increase Strike from 4 to 6 ranks (2pp)

I think these changes will markedly improve Grim effectiveness as a crimefighter. BTW, how quickly are these applied? Are they not usable in any storylines were currently in, and if so, can we make an exception on 'Deja Vu' since it is set a little bit in the future (a few weeks, I'm guessing)?

  22. That's perfect. :) I just brought the characters to where the sound is coming from, and either yourself or a Ref can determine what the crime is exactly.

Ok, are we heading into a preliminary encounter at this point, or is this us encountering the Brotherhood? I just want to be clear.
