  1. No!

Grim's nostrils flare and she practically snarls when she sees the villainous thugs pounding on her helpless mentor.

You will not take him away from me!

Heart racing, she tears at the nearest SOB, and in her near-berserk rage, moves on to her next victim.

  3. Not three rounds, but you have three stun conditions all on you for this round.

    Yikes. :o

Grim, it's time for you do do something big. Like maybe use extra effort to get the take-down attack feat and use a HP (if necessary) to make sure you hit. That way you could probably get two at once. That would certainly get their attention. :)

Okay, thanks for the tip - still very new to the system, and this is my first time using extra effort and (knowing the way I roll) a HP. If I read the rules on Takedown right, I would have to go after 5, but would I then go after 9 or 4? It says it has to be within my range as well as five feet of each other, and I'm a little fuzzy; could I move to go after 4, or is 9 close enough to 5? I'm going to assume she goes after the right one, so I will leave it up to you to point her in the right direction, I'm thinking 9 ;)

  5. She saw the growing disgust in his eyes as she kept on talking, compulsively spilling our all her dirty laundry on the table between them; when she got like this, she couldn't stop, no matter how stupid or horrible she felt. When she was finished, she felt a change in him.

He thinks I killed that guy.

She wants to tell him the truth, about what she really did to him, but was it that much better than ending his life? Hadn't she done something worse, in a way?

But now Ren is talking, and is story is so...unbelievably sad. And now it all makes sense; he's a villain because he thinks that's what he deserves; only a monster would let those kids die, so he must be a monster. Finally he gets up abruptly and lurches to the men's room; she gives him a minute, and then follows him inside. Lynn stands just inside the doorway listening to him for a moment, and then she speaks up.

"What you did? It was stupid; I'm not gonna deny that. You risked the lives of innocent people, and you failed; nothing is going to change that."

She crosses over to the stall, and leans her back up against it.

"But that little kid was right; there is a hero in you, and I can see it, too. That Kamikaze guy brought the violence into your life, and you responded with violence before you fully understood your powers. And you weren't thinking straight, you lost your focus, and then all that mattered was the fight, who was better. You forgot why you were fighting, and who you were defending."

Lynn's tone gets a little sad, but is still soothing.

"I didn't kill that guy that night, even though I really wanted to; I tore him up bad...real bad. I don't think he'll ever walk again, and his face...well, there wasn't much left of it when I was done. I don't know if that did anything to help that poor dead girl, but I wasn't doing it for her, I was doing it for me, and that’s where I screwed up."

The heroine drops down to the tile, and rests her head against the stall door.

"When it comes down to it, the only thing that really separates the good guys from the bad guys is why we do what we do, and who we do it for; you tried that night, and you screwed up royally, but that doesn't mean it was wrong to try. You can’t bring those kids back, but the fact that you still care, that it still hurts? That’s the good guy part; that’s the part you can’t afford to lose.â€Â

  7. Since when is it fair to use freakin' flamethrowers?

Grim tries to dodge the flames, but she's never faced this kind of weapon before and misjudges the path of incineration; the fire licks her back, temporarily vaporizing part of her costume into gray mist before it quickly reforms over her slightly reddened skin, but she is able to avoid any serious injury.

However, seeing Rival fall is far more alarming; he's down, and ever worse, he's surrounded. As quickly as she can, she heads for the boss who tagged her downed mentor and attempts to open his back up with her claws.

  9. Lynn has backed herself into a corner, and is fighting the urge to disappear into the background; her beloved 'Grampaloo' is standing not fifteen feet away from her, and now she has just seen her mother as a teenager, hitting on teen Icarus. Grandpa looks fantastic, young (well, young-er) and active, with so much life in his eyes. And Lainey...is a slut, just like her daughter Eddi will turn out more than twenty years later.

I don't know if I can handle this, but maybe...Grandpa always talked about his dad, Great-Grandpa Ira, and the amazing things he used to do. Maybe he could somehow help us?

She finally finds the courage to step forward, and nervously waves.

"Hi, Mr. Silberman? You don't really know me, but me and my friend here are, well, 'lost' is the best word for it, I guess. I've heard you have books here, certain books that might..." She takes a deep breath, and drops her voice down to a near whisper.

"What do you know about...time travel?"

  11. Decided to try something new - this is a crop of an early Paint image, that was then tweaked in Photoshop - here's the original, which I call 'Golgotha'. I'm not super-religious, but I love the power associated with this imagery. Not sure how it works in tiny size.

  13. Grim listens to him intently, her eyes locked with his, and as the wisdom of his words penetrates her rage, her features soften and her fists unclench; she finally drops down to an easy crouch and takes a few deep breaths as she nods.

"Yeah, ok...I see where you're coming from; I'm no use to anybody dead or in jail." She wipes her face, then rubs both hands rapidly through her hair before standing up again. "Gah! Ok, head in the game. I don't want this to go like our first night together, but worse.'

She scans the urban horizon thoughtfully, then turns back to Nightrival with a quizzical expression. "Do we know where they like to hide out? Can we, like, scope it out, do some recon or whatever?"

  15. Yikes, the big man is down, but not for the count! :o

I'm not quite sure what to post for failing the Reflex save but making the Toughness one; do I say she was lightly toasted, but not enough to do more than give her a first degree burn or something? I would appreciate a few pointers!
