  1. Gwen was speechless as Brian grabbed her and they floated into the air, she looked down at the floor and then back to Brian. Her mouth was open but there was no sound coming out. The vines clung to Brian, less out of fear and more out of a desire to keep Gwen from falling. Whoa! they said to Gwen, like the aliens in the ToyStory movies. The feeling of unaccompanied flight a new sensation for the both of them. Gwen clutched closer to Brian, her head fitting just under his chin and was still and silent until her feet rested on solid ground. "I think there is a reason plants don't fly..." Gwen said, getting her bearings she looked up to Brian. "That was amazing!"
  2. Gwen looked up from the grass and saw Brian. She waved at him and saw others walking over behind him. She straightened up and walked over to the shovels. She picked up one and handed it to Brian as he got closer. "Hel-lo!" she sung out to Brian and the other approaching teens. One who was drawing closer caught Gwen's eye. He towered a foot and a half over Gwen and built like the Marines who had escorted her around Afghanistan. She gulped as he approached and she nearly missed Jenna in the shadow of him. JEENA! the vines chorused. Gwen shook her head, clearing the memories. "Grab some shovels and lets get digging!" Gwen laid out the directions on a table for all to see and anchored them down with platters of fruit filled breakfast pastries.
  3. Gwen watched the bowl spin and her face paled, then blushed. A small 'whoa' came from her pale rose lips. "That is just..." cut her self off, pausing for a moment and turned to face Brian, her hand slipping from his but the vines held on to his wrist. Fly? the vines echoed her thoughts. Suddenly Gwen's eyes went wide like saucers, her pupil dilated so that her pale green eyes were thin rings. Her eyebrows went high. "Did you just say FLY!" Gwen stood looking at him. Clearly she had never met anyone who seriously said they could fly. "Summers told me that there were other amazing people like me here, but I didn't expect to meet anyone who could..."
  4. Gwen had a feeling of intense curiosity from the vines. Can we? they asked her already crawling down her arm. "Yes you can, but be gentle to Jeena." Gwen instructed them out loud so not to startle Jeena, she admired this leap that the girl was taking. Gwen smiled a huge ear to ear smile to Jeena. "Other than John earlier today they have not touched anyone else." Gwen's face fell. "It's been hard, hiding them from everyone. They're very curious and inquisitive. They love to learn and to see new things." Gwen's smile brightened again when one of the vines still at her shoulder nuzzled her head again. The vines reaching out for Jeena flowered pure white star flowers when it touched her skin.
  5. Gwen waited for the vines to come back into her. When they had retracted and were settled she got up from her spot and came around to see Renee's painting. She was floored. It was amazing. "Renee, this is wonderful! I love it!. Gwen clapped her hands to show her appreciation and the vines curled around from her shoulders and flowered bright pink. "They like it too!" Gwen said, pointing to the beautiful flowers. Gwen looked back at Renee. Her smile went from ear to ear. "I would love to see the finished painting." Gwen thought hard for a moment and the vines had an idea. Here. Yeah! Leave note here with big tree! Gwen looked over to the tree they referred to. It was a great old blackberry tree. "You could leave a note for me in the crevice in that tree there, and I will be sure to get it."
  6. "Yeah, I've only been here for a few days." Gwen looked around the cafe, hoping not to catch sight of the bully from the other day. She may have made a show of looking big but she REALLY didn't want to get into a fight her first week. Can tell him? the vines asked in her head. Yes, we can tell him. He's not Renee, he's a student here like us. Gwen smiled up at Brian, who was about a head taller than her. Her braids bounced around her face as she walked. Down her arm trailed a vine that moved like water, she waved at Brian with the hand now covered in moving vine. Flowers began to sprout from her fingertips. "So, whats your specialty?" she asked.
  7. Or does he just want to impress Gwen?

  9. Yes! please do! I just wanted to make sure there was a good background for the thread. I ended up on a roll and had a LOT more text than I intended. Shaen and AA told me I could split it up into several posts. But this way EVERYONE knows what we're building, and what it looks like not just "lets build a greenhouse."
  10. No mistakes. This is the vines, their words are short and childlike This is Gwen's inner voice, one she can't keep hidden from the vines yet, its how she talks to them also. This is Gwen speaking. I figured the three color breakdown would be easier to read.
  11. Gwen watched Jeena as she talked. "It is ok. I am still frightened of Vicky's ability. She seems to like popping in right behind me." Gwen listened as the girl went on. "I have herd stories of a tribe of natives in South America where I was born who lived as teeny tiny little people up in the trees. That is the reason scientists haven't found them yet. They're about as little as you describe." Gwen ate her last piece of pie and wiped her mouth with her napkin. "Also I have herd about other people like me, but my power is so weak before the vines I had never thought to seek out others who could do amazing things." Gwen thought about that for a moment. "I mean, there are people all around the world who do amazing things, there are people who also do horrible things but I had personally never met one, they do not usually visit the places I lived or ride airplanes."
  12. This was most assuredly going to be an amazing addition to the garden areas of the school. she thought. Gwen's vision was that when all was said and done this would be a haven for students like herself to come and grow their own fruits and veggies. Gwen looked over the design specs, she had put out a call to arms for any available students to come and assist in the building, this was after all going to be a large project, but she figured that if she had enough help it could maybe get banged out in a day. It also helped that Gwen had offered drinks and had promised an order of Pizza at noon for all who showed up (and worked). Gwen didn't waste any time waiting for others, she took out her spray-can and tape measure and began marking the grass where they would need to lay out the foundations.
  13. Gwen had not seen her godfather in many years, since she moved out of Colorado and started traveling the world with her parents, but he was a great friend to them while they lived there. She rummaged through a large box and found the smaller box of seeds. She set it on the side and began laying out the tools. She had gotten shovels and screwdrivers from the groundskeeper who claimed to be a martian to anyone who would listen. He was a nice enough guy with hair redder than hers and striking blue eyes. He was also thrilled that he wouldn't have to tend the greenhouse. He told Gwen that she was also welcome to use any of the tools in the shed.
  14. The base needed only to be dug into the ground a couple of feet to give it more stable walls. A note fell out of the photos and directions as Gwen turned the page again:
  15. The photosthat Francis had sent her of his designed kit was amazing. The wood was actually recycled plastic, textured to seem like real wood and had grooves where the glass panels were designed to just fit into. Each panel is a 4ftx4ft section of glass and recycled plastic that needs only "L" brackets to hold the grove and notch system more stable. The greenhouse she picked out is hexagonal in shape and about 100x100ft round and 24 ft tall. There is a platform that is also made from recycled plastic inside that walks the perimeter of the greenhouse. Gwen thought that seeing it from above would be amazing. She also took the optional pond kit, but that could be a project for another day.
  16. August 4th 2011, 10:00AM near the quad at Claremont The day was sunny, the wind was blowing gently across the grass and the sky was as blue as the ocean. It was going to be a fine day for building. Gwen had chosen faded blue jeans, her old running shoes and an orange tanktop, she also had on a white brimmed straw sunhat. Her hair was loosely braided, one at each side of her head and they hung down to mid back. The vines were hanging out on her shoulders in their usual place, the base flower shown a beautiful blue, almost mirroring the sky. Gwen knelt down and surveyed the delivery and counted the boxes.
  17. This is the OOC thread for "If you build it"
  18. Quinn, can he make it a TARDIS greenhouse?
  19. I had to change the color of Gwen's thoughts and the vines, all the green was running together. It'll be easier to see the difference.
  20. Gwen looked at her arm, the vine had herd Jeena and had started to crawl up Gwen's arm to hide under her shirt. We sorry. they said to Gwen like scorned children. I don't think she meant it like that, remember how scared of you I was when you first appeared. This is why you had to hide from everyone else for the past year. Gwen watched the flowers hide and frowned at them. "They say they're sorry for scaring you. They are very excited to meet people. They've never been out in public before coming here..." Gwen sighed. "You guys are the first people other than me that they have been allowed to interact with, and they're like small children. They're more sentient than any young plant I've ever met before. Usually a newly sprouted tree takes YEARS to achieve the kind of self awareness that they have."

And I did Gwen's Rep chart
  22. Gwen has gotten approval from Summers to build a small greenhouse by the gardens at school. She would like it to be a community garden where students could come in their downtime and maintain fruits and vegetables. Everyone gets to share in the harvest and it could be really cute. What Gwen needs now is some students who are strong, tall and maybe have some building skills under their belt *but she'll take anyone who wants to help!*. Anyone down for a social thread where the kids spend a few days building a greenhouse?
  23. Gwen looked up at the sound of Jeena's voice and the flowers on her skin perked up. She turned to look at the girl at her new lone table. A vine reached out from Gwen's shoulder and reached out to take the pie plate. "What are you doing!" she accidentally scolded the vine out loud and it stopped moving. Jeena give pie! they said with a sigh. Love pie! Gwen sighed. Sorry, not you guys." she looked at the vine that hung on the air from her body. "You, come back here." The vine began to retract, seemingly absorbed back into her skin. That would be rude, we have to offer to go over to the table, not snatch and run. When the vine was firmly back in place Gwen picked up her tray and went over to Jeena. "That would be wonderful, thank you."
  24. Gwen laughed about the green paint. "There is surly an abundance of that here." Gwen glanced down at herself and the background would surely be a sea of shades of green also. She watched Renee pull out his carafe and his platter. "I do eat, but I do not drink wine." Gwen made a face at the memory but fast went back to how Renee had asked her to sit. "Wine does not agree well with me." she noted. The vines however get their nutrition from me. "I think that the sun is just habit for them, they like to bask in it but not for nutrition."
