  1. As soon as Gwen gets her second approval she'll need a room-mate, and her first thread as well.
  2. *squee* -- the squee of patience that is, which I *TOTALLY* have.
  3. Thank you very much for elaborating that for me. Numbers and I don't get along well. Changes made.
  4. Player Name: Breella Character Name: Gwendolyn Barr Power Level: 11 (165/169PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent Power Points: 4 Progress To Bronze Status: 14/30 In Brief: Florapathic teenager and her mutant tattoo learning to use their growing powers to benefit the world. Alternate Identity: Flora Identity: Secret Birthplace: Maracay, Venezuela Occupation: Student, Junior Botanist Affiliations: Claremont Family: William Barr (Father), Andreina Pisani (Mother) Description:Gwen stands at 5ft, 120lbs, curvy with a hint of an athletic cut from her outdoor adventuring. Waist length Auburn hair frames her face with thick cut bangs. Her hazel green almond shaped eyes she inherited from her mother are almost never adorned with makeup and her slightly tanned complexion never has need of foundations or coverups and a gentle, natural, rose to her cheeks is all the blush she requires. Gwen has light freckles on her shoulders and legs. When fighting crime Gwen has chosen a light green on dark green color-scheme, she also dislikes capes. Age: 16 (DoB: July 26th, 1995) Apparent Age: 18-20 Gender: Female Ethnicity:Mixed Caucasian-Hispanic Height: 5ft Weight:120lbs Eyes: Hazel Green Hair: Auburn Power Descriptions: An inherited mutation caused Gwen to be born a flora-path. She has spent all of her life communicating with plants. After getting a “temporary†henna tattoo of vines it became a permanent addition to her physical aspect and she has never attempted the encounter since. The living tattoo can sprout from her body in the form of green vines which act as additional limbs. Gwen's healing ability manifests as a green glow from her hands. History: Gwendolyn Barr grew up in a small town outside of Boulder, Colorado. Her parents, William and Andreina were both college professors at UB college. Her ability to converse with plants had never made much trouble for her. She simply kept her conversations to herself, as she grew she was appreciative of the fact that her ability to talk to plants was mental, not verbal. (People tended to think one was nuts if they were having a serious conversation about life with a Fir Tree out loud.) Gwen had attended public school until 2002 when a wildfire consumed her families home. Young Gwen awoke to her father ripping her from her bed and attempting to carry the small child to safety with his wife in tow but falling debris pinned her mother and left her father unconscious. Then only seven years old, Gwen was alone, trapped and scared as the fire grew hotter, the smoke grew thicker and the world was consumed by black. The family had been rescued by firemen but there was severe emotional trauma to Gwen when it came to nightmares about being trapped by fire. Gwen had seen photos and herd stories for years about her parents travels to far away lands, exploring areas many people never had gotten to, teaching all they knew to people in need. Gwen had always been fascinated by these stories. One night while saying with her godparents after the fire she asked her parents “Why don't we just travel the world together, like you and mom did before I was born?†There was much debate, but the Barr family decided to do just that. For the next Seven and a half years Gwen would travel with her parents, learning all that they could teach her. She met the most peculiar peoples with the oddest customs. Most normal, though some had powers. Usually only small things, some villages didn't allow people with powers to live there, still fearing that they were possessed or evil demons. In the summer of 2009 when Gwen was Fourteen she received a henna tattoo. A temporary body art ink made from crushed leaves of a Lawsonia inermis plant Gwen's henna tattoo mutated into a living tattoo. The living tattoo was comprised of a base flower, a giant Starflower that doesn't change shape and several vines that can change their appearance. The tattoo can move across Gwen's skin like water and be on any part of her skin. After a short time Gwen learned she could comprehend the tattoo like any other plant, and shortly after that the vines began to be able to exist outside her body (while still connected to the base flower). Gwen decided not to share this with anyone, not even her parents. The tattoo often hid, covered by clothing where no one would know of its existence. In 2010 while on a trip to Africa Gwen was cave diving and had an accident. Her lead rope had snapped and she was falling. Just as her life flashed before her eyes the vines leept from her body and attached themselves to the cave walls, they pulled Gwen to safety. It was after this amazing act that Gwen decided she could do so much more. After some research, and some conversations with some ancient trees in the rainforests of the amazon Gwen got in touch with Duncan Summers and applied to be a student at Claremont. Personality & Motivation: Gwen has a naturally adventurous personality, a drive to work hard and desires to put her abilities to positive use for the world. Powers & Tactics: Gwen's original power manifested as Florapathy, the ability to communicate with plants. Her skin is also more durable than normal human skin which she refers to as her “bark skinâ€. Her living tattoo is a sentient being in itself that is learning and growing every day. Its appearance on her skin can be that of a normal henna tattoo with the ability to tint itself, but when it extends itself outside her body the vines are green or other colors. Through practice she has learned that she can do a great many things with her new friend. The vines from the living tattoo can grapple things, hit things, and have the most peculiar flowers which can nauseate people into vomiting or knock them into a deep slumber. They're about as strong as Gwen is and being an extension of herself exist technically as one. Damage to Gwen damages the vines and vice-versa. Complications: Family: Gwen's parents mean the world to her, she'd go to great lengths to protect them. Fear of Fire: Gwen has a paralyzing fear of being trapped by fire, she often has nightmares of the day her home burned down. Living Tattoo: Living Tattoo is just that, living. It moves on the skin and has a bad habit of producing protruding flowers, extending tendrils and generally running a muck. Say What?: Most things Gwen says while talking to the vines are in her head but sometimes things come out that aren't supposed to. Secret:Identity. To the world Gwen is nothing more than a gifted botanist, a teenage girl from a well off family. Gwen is unsure of what it would mean for her identity to be compromised. 5. The newest update to the sheet, and what I think is finished. I'd like some of the more experienced character builders to take a crack at her and let me know what they think. Player Name: Breella Character Name: Gwendolyn Barr “Flora†Power Level:10 150/150PP) Trade-Offs: None Unspent PP: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Once your average adventurous flora-pathic mutant teenager wanted a pretty henna tattoo. The introduction of plant based ink to her skin seemed to boost her powers, leaving her with a living tattoo with the ability to extend itself outside her body. Alternate Identities: Flora Identity: Secret Birthplace: Maracay, Venezuela but raised in Colorado, USA Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Family: William Barr (Father), Andreina Pisani (Mother) Age: July 26th 1995 16 years Apparent Age: 18-20 years Gender: Female Ethnicity: White Height: 5ft Weight: 120lbs Eyes: Pale Green Hair: Mouse Brown w/ Red highlights [floatr][/floatr] Description: Gwen stands at 5ft 120lbs, curvy with a hint of an athletic cut from her outdoor adventuring. Waist length mouse brown hair with red highlights frames her face with thick cut bangs. Her pale green almond shaped eyes are almost never adorned with makeup and her slightly tanned complexion never has need of foundations or coverups and a gentle, natural, rose to her cheeks is all the blush she requires. She possesses a grace to her step and a glint to her smile that wouldn't be out of place at a galla or ball. She however she prefers to be in a pair of old blue jeans, a t-shirt and covered from head to toe and up to her elbows in dirt. When fighting crime Gwen has chosen a light green on dark green color-scheme, she also dislikes capes. Power Descriptions: Gwen was born a flora-path and has spent all of her life communicating with plants. After getting a “temporary†henna tattoo of vines her powers grew, expanding to include vines that sprout from her body. These vines can act as additional limbs, History: Gwen's parents, William and Andreina, both came from middle class working families who had doted on their only children. They tied the knot at Yellowstone National Park and soon after were blessed to find themselves with child. The soon to be parents wanted to share their love for nature with their newborn daughter and Andreina's heritage. They hired a midwife from a local small town to attended the birth while the couple camped close a waterfall in the jungles of Venezuela. The family settled down just outside of Denver, Colorado where William took a job at a landscaper for a local construction company and Andreina became a Gardner maintaining a local greenhouse so they could maintained their outdoor loving activities while still being parents. It was obvious as Gwen grew up she shared her parents love for both nature and the outdoors, it was almost as if she thrived better when outside in the dirt. Plants seemed to reach towards her as if she was the sun and as she got older, began to talk she would have conversations for hours on end outside in the garden. She could always keep herself amused when at work with her mother or father just by having conversations with what her parents playfully referred to as the “faeries in the forest.â€. Gwen grew and developed like any normal child would eventually going to school, socializing well with other children, maintaining a small group of friends. In third grade science class the terms assignment was to study the growth of lima beans. Young Gwen was ecstatic that she was finally able to share her extensive plant knowledge with her friends and teachers. It was her first real hands on science class and the project went amazing and Gwen wow'd her teachers, but learned the hard way that a teachers pet often gets the short stick from other students. She quickly became ridiculed, called a know it all and outcast by many of her former friends. Gwen triumphed in the end, the teachers invited her to take part in a special greenhouse project and it fast became a love of Gwen's. Where some children can be found after school in libraries buried in books Gwen was in the greenhouse, buried in dirt and tending to her new found obsession. “Dying! Dying, They're all dying!†the moan escaped the lips of the dreaming child. The summer of 2007 was the most damaging summer of wildfires in twenty-five years. It burned nearly 275,000 acres of forest in Colorado. Fifteen of those acres were the Barr's land. The heat was suffocating, the smoke burned at her eyes. Gwen awoke from her slumber to these feelings and panicked. She was disoriented and paralyzed with fear as her vision began to get worse. After what seemed like hours to the young girl, but were a matter minutes, hands reached out from the smoke and hauled the small girl up out of her hammock and onto strong and familiar shoulders. After scooping up their daughter William and Denise began making their way out of their home. Gwen, still disoriented was separated from her parents by falling debris. Her father was pinned and her mother unconscious the twelve year old began to weep louder, choke and the world was consumed by black. While they all survived the fire thanks to the rescue by firefighters and volunteers the mental trauma on Gwen was devastating and to this day she is often plagued by nightmares. After the fire Gwen made an unusual request of her parents: she wanted to travel the world with them and share in everything they loved. She learned to hike, to climb, care for her injuries and to survive among nature with the barest of essentials. She had traveled to every corner of the world, seeing and meeting some of the most interesting people and learning all she could about local exotic flora, third world gardening and food cultivations, horticulture and botany became her world. It was on one such a trip to Morocco in 2009 where her parents allowed her to get a temporary tattoo. Harmless little plant based henna tattoo that would ware off in a week, two at the most. The design was beautiful, a flower on her forearm that extended down by vines to her fingertips. The design was interlaced with thorns, smaller flowers, tendrils that extended off main shoots and lots of leaves. The next morning when the paste was dry and cracking Gwen removed it as the artist had instructed, but instead of a beautiful pattern there was nothing on her skin. Upset she went to her parents, who explained to her that a bad batch of henna might not stain the skin at all and Gwen eventually shrugged it off. The next day while getting dressed Gwen kept feeling as if she could see something on her shoulder, just outside of her vision. It happened again when she bent to scratch her ankle, yet again when she was changing into a swimsuit for some beach time. Later that night while showering Gwen could finally see it, small tendrils protruding from her back just below her shoulder. They were green, thin, small leaves adorned from offshoots. She screamed, falling to the floor and skittering across it in a panic. The tendrils pulled back into her skin, but a pattern remained there, it was the beautiful flower from the day before sitting on her shoulder. The tattoo flowed under her skin as if it was breathing and the tendrils seemed to be waving at her. A few hours later Gwen began to hear it like she could hear the whispers of other plants. She could ask it to move into a better area to see and eventually she was able to coax it to sprout tendrils again. Gwen decided to hide this part of herself from her parents, from everyone. Hearing plants was one thing but having on, sitting on her shoulder was a whole different story. The living tattoo seemed to be able to shrink itself down into just that flower at times but it often likes to spread its vines out across her body. It was a fateful hiking trip that brought Gwen to the rift in Africa, a crack in the continent that scientists say will one day split the continent in two and form a new ocean. It was a repel to explore the plant life when Gwen's safety anchor at the top gave way and she began slipping faster. Panicking, her life began to flash before her eyes as she started to slip faster and soon was falling. They came then, long thick vines that threw themselves at the sides of the rift. They snaked along the rim till the tendrils weaved their way into the cracks and fractures. The jolt hurt and pulled at Gwen's body, her vision going red with pain. The vines extended and pulled Gwen up to the top, crawling across the surfaces until she was safe. They nuzzled the girls face as she brought her breathing back to normal, reset her anchor and went back to her work. Soon after Gwen decided that she needed to seek out an education, to be around others like her and put her new found floral skills to use. Gwen picked Claremont for her education on a referral from her favorite rosebush, one she planted in her elementary school greenhouse years before, which she visited in its new place in the tranquility garden on every trip home. She visited Claremont in the summer of 2010 and has now enrolled. Her parents believe that she's attending at an academy on her way to becoming a botanist. Personality & Motivation: Gwen has a naturally adventurous personality, a drive to work hard and desires to put her abilities to positive use for the world. Powers & Tactics: Gwen's original power manifested as Florapathy, the ability to communicate with plants. She also experiences periods of stronger than human skin which she refers to as her “bark skinâ€. Upon receiving a henna tattoo she began to experience a kind of “living tattoo†a flowering vine that moves along her skin, grows and changes, sprouts flowers and can extend itself outside her body as additional limbs. 6. Thank you for your time and help. I've made a few change to her sheet and have a few more to do before its finished for sure. As for her protection being so strong the current theory I'm working with is the character is the spawn of an experiment in hybridizing human DNA with plant DNA (thus photosynthesis, which was the aim of the experiment to stop world hunger [if all you need is water no one will starve!]) but there were a few unforeseen additions to the genetic modification process (such as the super strong bark skin effect)
  7. old sheet under the spoiler, new sheet farther down the thread!
  8. Please move this thread to the x-vault :-/
  9. To be honest I pulled the sheet from a pre-made energy controller and made a few tweeks. Yes, her powers are spiritual based, I had thought of going with "god touched" but it seemed kinda corny and a few people shot down that idea, including AA. A new day and a fresh pair of eyes, let me go through the sheet again.
  10. Player Name: Breella Character Name: Spark Power Level: 10 (150/150PP) Trade-Offs: -2 Attack / +2 Damage, -2 Defense / +2 Toughness Unspent PP: 0 Progress To Bronze Status: 0/30 In Brief: Just your average teenage girl with a very electric personality. Alternate Identity: Kristana Darragh Identity: Public Birthplace: Brooklyn, New York Occupation: Student Affiliations: Claremont Family: Amelia Darragh (Mother), Thomas Darragh (Father), Stephen Darragh (Brother [older]), Connor Darragh (Brother [younger]) Age: 17 (DoB: August 17th 1994) Apparent Age: 20 Gender: Female Ethnicity: White Height: 5ft Weight: 130 lbs. Eyes: Blue Hair: Auburn [floatr][/floatr]Description: The first thing that catches ones attention when looking at Kristana is the contrast between her skin and her eyes. Pale lightly freckled ivory skin topped with bright auburn mop of layered shoulder length hair set off by sparkling pale blue eyes, eyes she often covers with big aviator style sunglasses. Her lips are rose pink, her cheeks naturally flush, thick eyelashes with no need for makeup. Her petite yet curvy frame is most often adorned with sneakers, jeans and a tanktop, often accompanied by some kind of leather or denim jacket. Power Descriptions: From the first strike of her ability Kristana's powers have always manifested as purple lightning, a trait her mother attributes to Kristana's spiritual happiness and content. While she's been known to give off small colorful sparks in moments of strong emotion the bolts are nothing more than small static shots. History: Amelia Darragh always knew her children would be extraordinary. Not in the way that all children are special but that they would be great leaders of their community. On the day Kristana was born a dream was had by several members of the coven, a beautiful man bathed in a soft purple glow who annointed a small infant with his touch. There was celebration, as there is when all children are born but the dream faded from their memories replaced by the laughing bundle of joy who brightened a community. Amelia and Thomas watched as their small baby blossomed into a beautiful child. Smart, inquisitive, creative and kind they from a young age she'd one day grow up to be a powerful priestess and follow in her parents footsteps. Despite growing up in a major city, there was always nature to be found. Community gardens, long walks through the forest at Central Park with her brothers and coven siblings to catch faeries, play damsel in distress, hide and seek. There was always a multitude of other children to be around and play with. Growing up in a large family of practitioners has its perks, from the moment Kristana could speak she was constantly asking questions, consoling the sad and bringing a spark of happiness to everyone she touched. She excelled at everything she tried and found a few things she loved. Tarla helped Kristana make her first talisman; a ramshackle put together of twigs that the five year old tied together with twine in the shape of the five-pointed star. She chose her oils, blessed it and gave the charm to her mother “To protect you from the dark.†the girl told her mother. Since that day Kristana has always had a nack for making small charm, talismans and other wearable items to protect the wearer from various evils, or to bring good fortune. Coming from a family of practitioners, and being raised in a large and close-knit coven Kristana has always been around people with abilities, tarot card and rune users, palm readers, truly clairvoyant and even a few telepathics are members of her parents coven. Stephen, lit a few candles with his mind at the beginning of puberty but has since had no manifest of power. Kris's own abilities began to manifest around puberty also. It began as a change in her aura according to her mother. A taste of metal in the air her father would call it. It was subtle changes in her attitude, her demeanor, a charge to the air when she would get upset about something. One coven member described her as having an “electric†personality on the day Kris first her power. It was during a ritual celebration and sent half the coven running out of fear, and the other half bowing down and screaming their praise to their gods. It was her “first moonâ€; a day of celebration marking a girls entrance into womanhood and what a change at thirteen it was indeed. Since her ability first surfaced the coven has been an amazing help to Kristana, helping her harness and grow her powers, but also to tame them. Kristana is always aiming to do the most good, to bring good and energy to herself and her family. Someone who's read up on the Darragh family tree might say its to make up for past evils of her ancestors, a few rogue practitioners turned to black magics and dark beliefs. She has worked hard to learn to control her ability, to harness it in new and creative ways, to do more than just hurt. Through tireless ritual mediation she has grown her powers in leaps and bounds, learning first how to call it, then how to change it, and eventually how to ride electrical currents from place to place. On the night of her sixteenth birthday Kristana had a dream. A tall white haired man and a small mouse haired woman sat on the banks of a river calling to her. They told her that she still has much learning to do, that she needs to venture out into the world and grow herself as a woman. The next morning Kristana sat down with the elders of the coven and explained the dream, she told them that she felt compelled to follow their instruction to go out and seek to be more, to do more. Personality & Motivation: Kristana has a strong moral obligation to do what is right, to bring more good to the world and to use her ability to protect innocents and those around her. At the age of 13 she took the nickname Spark and has dreamed of being a full fledged hero ever since. Powers & Tactics: Kristana has never yet had need of her ability in a life or death situation. Complications: Black Sheep Need Herding: Several members of the coven and even Kris's bloodline have gone rogue over the years, becoming dark practitioners and putting a stain on the family's collective “karma.†Electromagnetic Aura: Kristana produces an electromagnetic field when angry and left unchecked it can reset electronics. Anyone who makes physically contact with her at this time is likely to experience a small spark like a carpet static shock. Gotta have Faith: Kristana's electrical powers are directly linked to her spirituality. Strong Family/Community Ties: Kristana and her family are as close as close can be. She's an active member of her parents coven of eclectic witches True of Heart: Kristana believes in justice, in protecting innocents and doing what is morally good and right, a lawful good one might say.
