  1. Pretend to fight? they inquired, the idea seeming odd to them. Yes, pretend. She's going to show us how we can work together better to take down bad guys. The vines pondered this for a moment. But will be fun? A smile passed over Gwen's face as she switched to a standing position, feet apart letting her arms fall to the floor in front of her. Yes, it will be fun. Gwen continued to stretch out as she waited for Vicky to arrive. She stood back up putting her left arm above her head, bending at the elbow and switched. Hand behind elbow she pulled each in front of her before she finally laid out and began a few push-ups.
  2. OOC for this thread. Right now just Gwen and Vicky, please ask before joining.
  3. August 6th 9:30am Gwen walked into the gym. Her hair was braided tightly down her head in thick french braids that cascaded down her back to mid length. She wore a dark green and black sports bra and a pair of matching cycling style sport shorts. Green and black cross training shoes donned her feet with white ankle socks peeking just above the shoe. She put her bookbag down in the corner and began to stretch out on the blue mats. Thankfully no one was here yet, she had hoped to arrive before Vicky and get in some yoga. Fun? the vines asked. I hope. We're going to pretend fight with Vicky. Gwen stretched out her toes and leaned forward to stretch her back.
  4. "Hmm?" Gwen looked at Morgan like he had asked the oddest of questions. "Reinforced? No, This is just a basic model, its from my godfather who designs greenhouses..." It suddenly it Gwen and she had the most peculiar thoughts about someone picking the whole greenhouse up with their mind. She looked at the plastic frame then looked at Corbin, pushing in nails bare handed and imagined someone punching through the glass and Jeena who was handling the giant glass plates like they were toys. Morgan had a point and Gwen shrugged. "I am open to suggestions."
  5. Gwen looked up and surveyed the work going on around her. She began to put the frame onto the second door's glass panel. "I was thinking of letting it be a community garden, someplace where anyone who wanted to could grow their own stuff." Gwen thought about that for a moment and looked up at Vicky. "Not that kind of stuff!" Gwen looked back at the glass and put a few screws into it. More Dirt! the vines piped up, and they were right. "Vicky, can you get some dirt back in around the base pieces to hold the foundation in place better?"Gwen made a mental checklist in her head. "Corbin, those pieces you're working on go in the first part of the foundation over there next to Vicky."
  6. Gwen could feel Brian's leg brush against her jeans. There was another sensation she couldn't explain and the vines flowered again, this time bright yellow roses. "I don't think I have ever--" Gwen searched for a word. "..,clicked, with someone like this before." The vines curled up at Gwen's ear and flowered a pale blue starflower as if it were accent her hair. Their voice in her head was silent, a trait she was thankful for at the moment for if they said anything she might just turn into a tomato rather than just turn red. She raised her free hand and touched the flower, Gwen turned to looked into Brian's eyes. The colors were amazingly unique and she was lost in them for a moment. "I'd like that a lot."
  7. Gwen's smile went from ear to ear. "Jeena, I'll need you to help put the roof on actually.!" Gwen looked over at the massive boxes of bullet proof glass plates. "For now, would you give me a hand with these?" Gwen held up the machinery for the double entry doors. "We should put these together so when the men-folk, and Vicky, are finished with the foundation we can start putting them up." Gwen looked at the work that had already been accomplished. "Which at this rate will be soon." New home? the vines chirped up. New home for everyone. Gwen added.
  8. Bah, Gwen will get them all within her clutches again soon!
  9. Gwen looked at her shoes. "If it helps, that is what my parents and I were doing. We traveled around teaching people how to farm without ruining their lands, how to make the best of their harvest and the best local fruits and vegetables to grow for the most profit." She looked up at the sky too, almost as if the was listening for something. The whispers of plants all around her, chatting to each other about the students who had walked by, about the weather... it would seem as if she was deep in thought. Touchy Touchy! the vines started teasing Gwen and it took a little more work to push their thoughts aside.
  10. It took Gwen a moment to process Brian's last remark. "Hm? Oh, no! I'm not one of them." Gwen began to clarify. "My parents began traveling the world with me when I was seven years old, I was home schooled and got to explore some of the most amazing places on earth." Gwen opened her cellphone and showed Brian the background photo. Gwen was front and center and behind her was an olive skin, long brown hair hazel eyed woman and a tall red haired man with pale blue eyes and freckled skin. It was hard to dispute that they were her parents. "I did get to know some of the families and children, everyone was happy. Some families who send their children out when they're older do keep in contact, they write letters or become benefactors for the villages they're from. It's not all bad." Gwen squeezed Brian's hand. "See, it doesn't always end badly.
  11. Gwen looked Brian square in the eyes. "This is probably going to sound really bad, but its for the best in some ways. Children who would normally be a burden on a family with little to no money to begin with get to live fresh new lives in the bigger more populated areas, they get medical care and schooling. Most of them never even know they're "adopted", and in the cases where the powers are late bloomers they relish the idea of helping their family, and I'm sure that the chance to be a kid and not work a farm at the age of seven is a welcome change." Gwen searched Brian's eyes for some sense of understanding. "The children get to LIVE, they don't worry about dying of something that could be prevented by vaccines, working their butts off just to die at 30 and have sixteen more children. Their birth family gets money to plant more crops, cloth themselves, expand their farms." Gwen hoped that Brian could understand.
  12. Ouchie Ouchie! the vines showed Gwen in image of what Morgan was doing to his thumb. Gwen handed Morgan a pair of working class brown leather gloves. "This should cut down on the pain and bleeding factor, they're mainly for handling the glass but--" Gwen looked at Brian and smiled. "Someone can move them without touching them, so we might not need these." She smiled at Brian as she moved over to check some more boxes. The vines held up some directions to her left while she rummaged through them. Having the additional arms was surely helpful in this case. Gwen glanced from instructions to box and back again.
  13. Another feeling like a jolt of electricity went through Gwen when Brian touched the flower. She could control her reaction but the vines couldn't. They shivered across her skin and the flowers pulsed a pale iridescent pink. Seeing this caused Gwen to blush. "Maybe I was just too cut off from established society..." Gwen let the sentence fall for a moment. "I never had much exposure to people with quantifiable powers. Most kids who show hints of power are sold to families in larger cities, the rest are either normal or more the unquantifiable powers, like mine, or Telepathy, or Clairvoyance" Gwen looked up into Brians eyes. They were unique. She remembered something Vicky had said about people calling her a demon and out-casting her for them. She frowned at that thought.
  14. Gwen got up and threw out her now empty tray. She walked over to where Vicky was standing and waited to see who else was coming. Tour? they asked. Tour around Australia again?! the vines hummed with excitement again. They had specially liked Australia. Lots of sunshine and new animals to see. No, not that kind of tour. Think smaller, a tour of the school, not a tour of the country. the vines seemed to think about that for a moment. Ok! they piped up. Gwen smoothed her skirt down around her and pushed the waist length hair over her shoulders. "Present and accounted for!"she mocked.
  15. Gwen took a sip of her soda and followed Brian over to the doors. He's definitely something. Gwen thought. Crow man in tree? the vines asked her. Yes, Crow was the man in the tree. Gwen corrected them. She watched Brian as they walked. "Jeena, Jeena Vander--something. I can't pronounce it. I think its dutch. She moved here with her brother. Pale eyes, white hair like Vicky's. Jeena and Zach, that is her brother, always wear sunglasses." Jeena not here. The vines piped up. No, she's not. It was the first time Gwen could remember them making an inquiry about Jeena. Maybe she was growing on them.
  16. "I have spent time in the Central African Republic, Haiti, Madagascar, and a few other places where French was a very common language. After a while its hard not to pick up on a few words and phrases." Gwen thought about a few of the other things Rene had said. As nice as he was some of the things he said were rather-- interesting. Gwen turned her head just before they got to the road. She faced the forest. I'll be there in a moment. Gwen smiled at Renee. "I am afraid I must go. Other duties call me away." Gwen put down the easel and supplies. She hugged the man. "Thank you for today. It was nice to feel so helpful and special. Don't forget, leave me a message in almost any tree. Be sure to tell the tree its for Flora and I'll get it." Gwen began to sprint back towards the forest.
  17. QMN, thanks for the heads up. I'm sad you're leaving! Gwen has started the greenhouse!
  18. There was a shock of static that went off when Brian touched Gwen's skin. It sent a shiver down her spine and left her feeling odd. Oh! the vines said, sending images from Gwen's mothers romance novels through her head. She shook off the images and she listened to his words. They hit home for her. He was right and she knew it. There was a pang of something Gwen couldn't place as as Brian's hand stopped touching her chin. Fly again?! the vines asked with their childlike curiosity and sheer excitement. I'm not sure I could stomach that again. It will take some getting used to that is for sure. Awww! Fly is fun! Gwen smiled at their observation. It surely was... something. Gwen remembered the conversation again and replied. "I think I met Morgan, He's Vicky's boyfriend right?"
  19. "This may take less time than I thought..." Gwen's voice trailed off as she watched Brian lift the boards as easily as he had lifted her the other day. She made her way to the table with the power tools and picked up some screws and a cordless power drill. Gwen looked around and surveyed everyone. "If you're not currently using superpowers to unpack the boxes and put things together there are plenty of other things here!" Gwen pointed to the directions. "Panels need to be put together individually and then put together en mass, and the second story boardwalk needs to be put together also." Many people! Much help! The vines were clearly happy about the turnout so far.
  20. Gwen watched Crow flop around like a fish out of water. "That is amazing news!" she congratulated him. Since Vicky seemed to have the digging of the foundation down pat she pulled over a box and opened it. "These are the bases, we need to lay them out in the ground we are digging out." Gwen opened one of the boxes and moved over to the next one. "If everyone could grab a few and begin to screw them together. All the tools we need are over there on the table with the pastries. Pizza will be here around noon. I also got some drinks in the cooler over to the left of the table." Many many friends! the vines chirped. Their happiness flooded through Gwen.
  21. Gwen blushed bright rose and the vine still peeking out from her shirt blossomed pale pink and orange flowers. "All I could do until a year ago was talk to plants, if I hadn't gotten curious about a plant I was helping some local farmers cultivate I wouldn't have the vines..." Gwen's thoughts drifted for a moment and she pushed the button for a coke. "I'd still just be a REALLY gifted botanist without them." She looked up at Brian. "Be glad that you have your own real power, I mean I'm a good climber, I'm strong-- ok I'm really strong and agile, but that is just from all my work." Even as Gwen said it she still wasn't 100% sure she believed that last part. "Everything heroic I can do is the vines."
  22. Gwen took the items from Rene and looked at him. "Je peux ... le porter... pas un problème!" Gwen struggled with her french a little but she believed she had the jist of it. Something kept nagging in the back of Gwen's mind. The vines scurried around her, lost in final thoughts with the plants in the clearing. Gwen hefted the easel up and grabbed various other things with both her free hand and the vines. How does one man heft all of this out to the clearing in the first place?! Gwen mulled the thought over in her mind but the chatter between the vines and the plants in the clearing distracted her but she followed him to the road. "Do you have a car? How will you get home?"
  23. It suddenly hit Gwen like a ton of bricks. Renee... DeSaens... Gwen tried her best to hide expression. That name was very familiar. She felt like it should have more of a stunning impact on her. She shrugged it off and grabbed what Renee had asked her to carry to help him back to the road. She checked to make sure her mask was still in place and she smiled. Gwen looked at the painting again. "Yes, I will get the message if left here." She took the address from Renee and one of the vines began to hold it for her. "Your work is amazing, how long have you been painting for?" it seemed like an innocent question but Gwen felt compelled to ask.
  24. Gwen looked down at the vines. Come now, you're pushing your luck with Jeena Gwen told them. She looked up at Jeena. "I am not exactly sure how they see, I've never asked actually." Gwen touched the vines gently with her free hand. It is a very valid question, how DO you see? Gwen herd the vines thinking and mulling over the question. No answer. they replied, still thinking about this new question. "They're not sure either, but they are very curious and are now discussing it." Gwen mused the idea over in her head also. She couldn't believe she had never thought about it. "No, they can't leave my body. The base flower over here." Gwen pointed to the baseball sized flower on her shoulder, its favorite spot. "This is the main flower, its always here. It can move but, this seems to be it favorite spot. The vines, they can disappear back into the flower."
