"Most people know that before and after pizza people slaughtered other people in droves. Mind you, they also did so for resources, political intrigue, and simple greed which on an instinctive level all humans have. In fact, generosity as a whole can be considered an entirely society generated concept. Even generosity is in itself, an act of greed. You gain something from it after all, a good feeling is something immaterially gained by the giving of something material, and as such a greedy act." She made several swipes with her brushes when she spouted that out, without pause at all, "But then again, the gods did not help to stifle this greed in the least. The quest to gain favor in those on a higher power scale, now that has done quite a number on our history. Even supposedly benevolent forces have had atrosities done in their names. Which is of course one reason for the current cultural rejection of magic and isolationist attitude of the older generation of magic users. But then, the newer generations greatly outstretch them by sheer optimism. It is fasinating and horrifying at the same time, but not without cause. Outer worlds other then this one are exactly the same without the same justifications, or even the scale of society that has on some level accepted the oddities of those around them out of the nessicity of protection and advancement."

"Maybe," She put the brush down entirely and reached for a rag which she used to dab around the painting, slowly and move stuff around. She did so for a minute or two without speaking, "I may ask Quentin, he may know more about the base word. Or I will google it later." Pulling the rag aside, she looked around the painting at Morgan, "I do not believe I have ever been whelmed. When I arrived, I was, underwhelmed, and then now, I am just, overwhelmed, always overwhelmed. Such a strange, strange place, so many things to see. Both beautiful, and," She paused and looked at Morgan for a few seconds, grabbing some colors from the bottom and mixing them together, "Very interesting this world."

"That is because one of the lines were not connected all the way." She pulled the paintbrush back which was now marked with grey. She dipped the paintbrush in the white again and started smudging the canvas, "And to be quite honest, my magic is not terribly impressive, it is barely even what you consider magic," She streaked a few lines across the canvas before she continued, "Magic by its very definition is a force of change, but my magic does not change things. It projects a change, like a film, but in reality it is nothing substancial. You have noticed, no one is ever actually injured, they are simply overwhelmed." Etain thought for a few seconds and she tapped the end of her paintbrush on her chin, "You know what is strange, we use under and over as prefixes for that word, but I do not believe I have heard an actual definition for simply whelmed, what does it mean when someone is whelmed in the first place?"

"He likely minds less then you think, you did after all help considerably with the grounding energies of the hotel itself." She flourished the brush a few more strokes, before switching to another smaller brush. This one, she did much shorter deliberate strokes. "You are the expert in crafting runes, which have a much more stable output then most magics since the symbols themselves channel the energies nessicary for execution. I doubt anybody else in the house could craft them as effectively, I most certainly could not. It would be disasterous if I even tried." Dipping the brush into a bit of white, she hesitated, but only for a second before she started swirling the brush on the surface. "I would like if you would be more careful with the ones in your room, I nearly singed my skirts when I went in to deliver the laundry."

"Is that what you do when you patrol?" Etain moved the brush against the canvas, using strokes both exaguarrated and small for the opening though, it was mostly around the edges, "I always found that strange." She dipped the paintbrush and peeked around the canvas, "Since this place was built, I would just go down to the scrying pool, ask specifically where there was trouble, and if I felt the need to intervene, teleport there." She put down the paintbrush, and switched to a smaller one, "I always found it perplexing that no one else ever seemed to use it, it seems like such a useful tool for this sort of thing."

Etain laughed, a rich laugh as she set up the eisel, "Not nessicary," She opened a couple of tubes of black and pulled several sets of colors to do the same, "I just need a model for basic outlines and observation. It is easier. You may continue eating." Dipping the brush in some at that point very dirty water, she grabbed a larger brush and dipped it in there before wiping it on her apron and putting it down and liberally coating it with a stroke of pure black. She started to move the brush against the canvas, and spoke as she did so, "I do not think I have ever seen you so still Morgan."

Etain looked at Parkhurst and put the end of the brush on her chin. She had a small array of tubes of acrylic paint. She started visibly counting them, there was nearly twenty in the tray under the table, several of the same shade or color. She looked back at Parkhurst again and turned her head and then shook it, "No, I do not have enough paint." She started to go through her collection so far. She'd used a lot of yellow, the brown was waning too but that wasn't hard, you could mix for brown. She was looking through the paints when Morgan asked about the self portrait, she didn't even respond. Or seem to respond, she just moved forward, "Huh, I have a lot of black." She looked up, she did in fact have have several unopened tubes of black paint, "Black, black, Nick is more grey. Huh," She glanced over at Morgan for a few seconds, then put up her brush against her thumb as if measuring, "Would you like to be painted?"

Etain put her head to the side. Like she was going to say something in retort, but decided not too. "Nothing." She tucked the picture behind that of Milly. Before turning back to Morgan, "It is not done, so he does not get to see it yet." Wiping the paint again before she looked at Milly's portrait, "I may need to come back to this, I am running out of yellow." Standing up she pulled a tarp and put it on the canvas. Then reached for a fresh canvas from a pile near the eisel, she looked around, "Huh, wonder wonder, Joe does not want me to draw him, Josephine will not sit still for long enough. Rene says I cannot paint him unless he can do me at the same time."

Etain blinked, "What do you mean?" Etain looked at the picture and turned. She grabbed a brush and started a bit more on the fact that was mostly blank except for the base outline of the eyes and the nose. Taking some brown, she started on the shadows around where the hair shaded the face. She stopped, and took her thumb to smudge it a bit more smoothly then with her brush. "I've been practicing a bit, mostly with Custos, he's the best at staying still. I think I have it around here somewhere." Pulling down the eisel she revealed another canvas behind it. This was more completed, noting a few details. It was the gargoyle, standing in stance and ease. Though, he was somewhat different, he didn't exactly look like stone. In fact, he looked to be cloaked more in dark leathery flesh, his wings slightly more transparent and spread, and his fangs and eyes having whites as opposed to the normal monochromatic that was seen.

Etain looked up at Morgan and smiled, "You are dressed rather warmly," She took the brush and finished a line, "You can go Milly." The ghost smiled and got up, walking over to talk to Joe. Etain turned on her stool and put her hands in her lap. They were nearly as white as the paper and lacking their usual gloves. They were also smugged with paint that she wiped off on the apron, "I have been talking a lot with Rene, he suggested it as a way to pass the time, and let me borrow some supplies. Though I have been staying away from the oils, apparently they are never quite dry, just less damp. It is easier to do from observation." She gestured to the portrait which unlike the current Milly, was in full color, showing her in dark maid attire, but with peach skin and bright sunbleached curls that rarely showed in her now ghostly form. There was also something odd, on her apron was a stain that was very dark on the white, and was blotched over her abdomen.

It was a clear pretty day at Parkhurst. Out on the back lawn, there were several people enjoying it. Josephine was swinging from a swing hanging from one of the trees with her mother pushing her. Custos was sitting with Joe discussing some building techniques they saw on DIY network and ways to apply it to the outside of the house if nessicary, and Milly, who normally was busy around the house was trying very hard to sit perfectly still. Which you'd think would be easier if you didn't need to breath, "How much longer mistress?" Etain raised an eyebrow as she peered around the eisel. She was dressed in something like a layered white sundress. If it wasn't for the brown apron and brush both of which were smeared with paint you'd of think she was the one posing, "Not much, once I get the pose right, I should be able to fill in the details adequitely. The formality of your addressing still troubles me slightly, it is a relic of your time, and of a society far left behind." Milly smiled at her and piped, "Yes mistress," Etain let out a breath and put some peachish color on her brush as she painted the outline of an arm for an otherwise drab and colorless ghost.
  12. "Got it then," Carrie started thumbing through her stuff, "Where and when does he like to hang? How many people does he employ, and how many residences does he own?" She pulled out another paper, "And, what do all these folks have in common besides tripping over there words. I'll stick to the boy scout, see where and when he falls. Cannonade infiltrates luddites, and we, well how we keeping in contact. Got any cross town earpieces for us? I mean, you can do it across dimensions."
  13. "Don't forget the make up." Carrie was sorting through some kitchen worker outfits, sort of drab colored, but skirted with an apron, "Yellowing for the teeth, some dust. This is a time before standardized dentistry and laundry mats." She went through the outfits, "So as I said, who hasn't run there campaign into the ground?"
  14. Carrie sat in her chair sideways, her legs hanging over the armrest with the local post in front of her nose, she glanced at the thing from the corner of her eye before she went back to the newspaper, "I assume we're sending him to see the Luddites because of the history there, so he'll probably need to look like one of them. They may be moving up the ranks, but I doubt they dress like that." She flipped through the paper, reading the details of all the articles, "As for me, I think I'll pop in on one of the politicians that haven't been caught with the pants down. So probably just dress me as some generic help, and I can keep an eye out for the when and how of when he falls see if there's something happening."
  15. Carrie quirked both eyebrows (being physically incapable of doing just one), "You mean like going to a whole nother world where the British empire didn't fall weird." She led the way down to the car, "Or working for this worlds version of Q to spy on a faction of disgruntled factory workers who have somehow managed to pierce the ranks of this cities upper class enough so to orchestrate their own self-deprecation of character." Walking outside, she made her way to the car, stopping for the driver to open the door for her before slipping in and stopping, "Weird isn't gonna happen, it's here, but no ones gonna take the helmet away from you." She then ducked into the car and waited for them to be driven to the main building.
  16. "Cover up, impossible in this heat." She put a hand over her eyes as they headed, there was some squirming, the person on their shoulder, said, "Could you just knock me out, or put me down, you act like you're going to the freaking store." Carrie raised an eyebrow, "Well I could smash your head into the pavement, that'd do it, as well as give you a concussion or possible brain damage, would that be better, cause I'm happy to oblige." That shut the woman up and Carrie didn't speak any more until they dropped the would be pickpocket at the police station with a short few minutes where she talked to the police, and gave the assertion about the woman's power. She met the girl outside again, looked at her for a few seconds. "That's done, I guess I don't share the sediment about nonviolence. It probably has to do with the fact that I've never been very good at the words bit, and um huh," Carrie put a hand on her chin, "I still don't know your name rather muscular teenage girl, I'm not sure how, and I think that we skipped a few other parts." She held out a hand to the girl, "My name is Caroline, Carrie for short, and no, I've never been drenched with pigs blood at the high school prom, and yes, random movie references to my names have happened, several times, because film majors or people who have read Stephan King novels all think they're original."
  17. "You're pretty young for a fitness nut. But then again, I was gymnastics from eight to like fourteen, so I really can't judge on age." She turned down the path a little and started towards the park entrance. "But then again, it's different muscle build entirely. You aren't built like a gymnist, given, your not built like anything I don't think. Just you know, built." She stepped out onto the street, "Remind me to be glad you didn't like, jump me when you thought I was the thief, I'm quite certain it would of likely hurt. Not very fond of getting hurt, or mugged, or robbed, in fact not fond of any of those things. But somehow it keeps happening, I think I have a target painted on me somewhere."
  18. Carrie carried the still someone stunned pursesnatcher in a fireman hold over her shoulder. She handed her purse off to Mali as she did so (no need to tempt the little witch), and headed down the area, "The police station in this area isn't too far away, and if she tries running again," She didn't look at the girl but it was implied as she bounced her, "I'll just have to jump on her again won't I, though you might beat me too you. You pretty dang fast."
  19. Unlike Mali however, Carrie had no qualms whatsoever with harming the pursesnatcher, however briefly it was. Well maybe not briefly, she was sure the woman felt it as she kneed her in the back at a full run and knocked her face first into the the ground. She likely felt it as Carrie grabbed her arms and pinned them to her back and pulled out a zip tie from her purse and bound the woman's hands as she applied her body weight to keep the woman from rising. It took less then a few seconds to do, and Carrie wasn't even breathless as she looked up at Mali, "You want to call the cops tell them we're coming, I don't think we can leave her, she'll likely slip the tie somehow and I don't have a phone on me."

I'd say essentually a magic gadgeteer who uses plants as a focus. She can't make any plant grow suddenly and burst with life, she has to use magical seeds that have been magically pregermated. Her main weapon is a greenbrier whip (thorny vine whip), which she uses for close range stuff and for swinging. 21. While Carrie wasn't that fast, Mali very nearly overran the thief at the first pass. There are people who are fast, then there are people who have trained to be fast. Even a regular pickpocket who has experience with running away can't compete with someone who really trains to run. Carrie never trained for speed, just general endurance, but Mali surpassed both of them and quickly caught up to the thief who looked back nervously at the very muscular girl closing in.

Essentually she's like a magical poison ivy in terms of powers, almost all of them being a talent for enchanting plants as a median. Her powers are almost all device based, but she does have immunities to poisons and is a bit tougher then usual. She's not really that strong or hard an opponent, but she makes up with the use of her familiar, a pheonix named Fury. Fury covers a couple weakeness of Plumeria's, one being that she has no travel powers and he can easily carry her, the other being his ability to affect the insubstancial. He's a heroic level minion, and perfectly capable of action without Plumeria's say so. Basically this is an attempt of statting which was at the time of creation, a godmod self insert sue who had a lot more untamed unchecked powers. But essentually the build is close to the original idea, which is someone who needs specially modified plants to channel their powers as opposed to say a wand or something.

  24. Carrie tilted her head back and hummed, "Yeah, not surprised, if you weren't locked in somehow you wouldn't of bothered calling. You don't pull in people with diplomatic immunity unless you really have too." Carrie tilted her head to the side and stood in her seat and stretched, "Well, no need to delay, lets go see Redpowder about our clothes." She looked over at Cannonade, "Since you decidely shouldn't be looking like yourself, or at least all the way like yourself, you mind losing the helmet for this adventure? They'll give you a replacement covering, or make you look like a leper or something if you mind terribly. I know that last time," She paused for a second then looked at M, "By the way, the Catholic church didn't cannonize Gabriel did they? I know they didn't manage it while he was here, but I'm a bit curious, and he's a bit worried."
  25. "Clearly, as this is still a problem." Carrie let out a breath, "M, how many of these politicians that have suddenly revealed themselves actually guilty of what has been claimed. You say you're not political, but you would certainly know." She leaned forward looking him in the eye with a raised eyebrow, "I know transparency isn't this realms strong suit, but how closely have you looked at these politicians that have been spilling their guts. I don't suppose you have the rights to take one off the street, but someone must of talked to them. Lets ignore the ones who actually did in fact do the things they've unwilling revealed, and go onto the ones who simply stumbled over themselves. Are they decent enough that they might not have any fear to have a regular interrogation?"
