  8. Robin started walking towards the wall, tracing her steps as best she was able. She chose her words carefully, not wanting to insult Dead Head. "My next step is to talk to the police. Someone has to have found Lewis's remains, and that'll be where I go next." She stopped, facing the revenant. "To be honest, I hadn't expected that you'd want to come along."
  9. Robin looked over her notes and scrubbed at her face with one hand. "Master and apprentice," she said. "Older woman must be the master. Needed the man's hand for their spell. Stars and stones, I hope this isn't the kid I'm looking for." She sighed and started gathering up her candle and the Hand of Glory. "Body hanging underneath a bridge. Can't be too many of those in Freedom every day. Hopefully the cops will remember it." She paused, then held her hand out to Dead Head. "Thank you for this. It was a real help."
  10. Lewis shook his head. "Nah, she was wearing some kinda big cloak. I only heard her voice. Real pretty voice. Sounded like my mom." He looked down at his hand, trying to pick it up and failing. After a few more times doing this, he looked back up at Dead Head. "There was a kid with her. Real tall, and thin. Looked like he was gonna be sick. Did he take my hand?"
  11. Robin tensed as the smoke-vomit covered her and slowly faded away, though she could still the smell the sickly, acrid stench, and the weight of the revenant's magic pressed on her mind. She didn't comment, though, and as the transient's spirit began to speak again she started making notes. "I'm Lewis. I was walkin' back to get... to get something, from my shack. And then these things came out and grabbed me. They were all bald and pale, and their arms were real long, like when I used to go see monkeys in the zoo." The ghost hunched over in a bandy-legged posture, letting his hands fall low to the ground. He shook his entire body for a minute, his arms flailing wildly, before he looked up at Dead Head again. "Like that. Like monkeys. And they had these claws instead of fingers, and they were real mean." Robin kept jotting down notes as the ghost continued his narration. Once he started describing the creatures, the sorceress bit her lip and furrowed her brow, but her pen never slowed down.
  12. Robin made a noise in her throat as she considered her options. "Let's go to the shooting gallery," she said. "I've always wanted one of those bears bigger than me, you know?" She laughed at the mental image of herself, serious protector of the innocent and defenseless, out sized by a stuffed, plush teddy bear.
  13. "Really?" Robin quirked an eyebrow in mock surprise. "You mean there's people who don't need a cotton candy fix at eight A.M?" She smiled, bright teeth dazzling against her dark complexion, and started tugging Wesley towards the entrance to carnival. "Come on! Maybe there's matinee prices!"
  14. I counted 22 Feats, not 23. Nearly half this character's damage is from Sneak Attack (or maybe not -- AFAIK, Sneak Attack cannot go above caps) and he only has one way of making enemies flat-footed. I'd give him Acrobatic Bluff or just plain ol' Buff, at the very least; preferably some Dazzle (Visual) as well. What does Power Loss: Hands means in the Garrote Array? I don't see where you paid for the 5 APs. A garrote doesn't strike me as a particularly heroic weapon. I know this guy used to be an assassin, but sneaking up behind someone and choking them seems more like something a vigilante would do.
  15. The bum's ghost looked between the hand, Dead Head, and Robin, its expression confused. "We wus under the bridge," he said. "I wus with Harry and Carl and Gina. I went back to muh shack, 'cause I had this real good coat and... and..." The shade's eyes crossed as it tried to remember. "And it was getting cold? And these things were waitin' for me! They grabbed me and dragged me away! And this old lady threw a rope over my head, and she hung me up from the bridge!" The specter raised its gaze to Dead Head, seeming more confused than angry. "Why'd they do that? Why'd they take my hand?" Oblivious to this exchange, Robin pulled out a pad of paper and a pencil, flipped to a new page, and waited for the revenant to start talking.

    Ironclad II

I'll be honest -- I don't know how the Phantom generator works, exactly. I was futzing around with Shadowfield projector and had left to get more solder from the store. When I came back, the projector had left the tabletop and was floating half-embedded in the ceiling. I used a couple of rare earth magnets I had lying around to get it back to the table, but it was dicey there for a minute. The Shadowfield projector works by creating a force field that extends around the user. The field bends the electromagnetic spectra, concealing the bearer from pretty much any sort of detection short of physical contact. I can only hypothesize that the Phantom generator works in a similar fashion, partially shunting the user into a nearby, parallel dimension. In testing, it let me pass through everything but an energy field I set up; very useful for the stealth configuration of my multifunction battlesuit.

    Meltdown (OOC)

Valk does a big, flashy teleport... And moves twenty feet. Totally in line with a big ham, though.
  18. Obscure (Auditory) Isn't there an outright Silence power in UP?
  19. That's kind of a character point. He knows he has this darker side that enjoys the bloodshed and violence, and has to keep it under control.
  20. I need to lose 8 PP to get him in under PL 8. Tarnation.
  21. My PL 10 Claremont. Basic idea is that he manipulates ambient light. Getting the Drawbacks to work properly was a challenge, but the folks in the chat knew how to get it done. As always, PEACH.
  22. So, I'm worrying that my Nighwing-expy might be a little too Iron Age for this site. I figured I'd put it here, see what other folks think. Questions? Comments?

    Robin Cross

I've been putting some thought into my defenses again. I like the way my coat works, and being able to give it to straights has been a boon now and again, but I kind of miss my bullet-proof force field. I've been tinkering with my shield bracelet, trying to figure out how to raise the shield without interference from my coat shorting out both of them, and I've come up with a work-around. Essentially, instead of creating its own shield, the redesigned bracelet will reinforce existing barriers. It won't make a paper-mache wall bulletproof, but it will keep it from getting wet and soggy. Best of all, since the magics involved reinforce conceptual barriers, it should strengthen my mental shields, as well. Device 4 (Barrier Bracer; Magic; Hard to lose; Feat: Restricted; 20 PP) [17 PP] Impervious Toughness 10 (Magic; Feat: Linked [Mind Shield]) [10 PP] Mind Shield 10 (Magic; Feat: Linked [impervious Toughness]) [10 PP]
  24. Ironclad suppressed a groan as she got to her feet. The displays swam in front of her eyes for a moment, then her eyes focused on the neon-bright colors. Her fingers danced through the menus, reprogramming and refocusing internal systems. Her bracers and flight pack began vibrating and the motions slowly spread through her body, easing away the pain. She closed her eyes with a low moan, rolling her shoulders slightly as her skin contracted into goosebumps. "I'll be fine," she murmured. "Just fine."
  25. Stunting Healing off my Blast, because sonic massages are gooooood. Healing 10 (Technology, sonic; Extra: Total; Flaw: Range [Personal]) [20 PP] 1d20+10=14 -.- Well, at least she's up and flying.
