  1. Mona shrugged and replied, "Sorry to tease you along like that, but I really don't have a clue. If someone knows anything for certain, he or she hasn't said anything definitive. Viktor usually keeps his ears open to 'big picture' pronouncements, even if he calls them 'magical hogwash'. Which sounds to me like either they don't know or like you said, it just happened." Her dwindling plate disappeared in two Mona-sized bites. "In any case, makes me glad I moved back home," she added before a sip of tea. "Mentioning Hades and Omega makes me wonder how many smaller events have gone unnoticed or forgotten." Mona nodded to Vicky, her face grave, "Yes. We must count our blessings," before laughing lightly, "General good fortune at least. Never been to Hoboken." Her face lit up at Vicky's question, and she replied, "Catching those C2 guys is like bottling wind. I have no idea why they're not returning my calls. I swear it is a ruse. But...NYCC did..." A big smile crept up her face. "Care to take a guess?"

  3. If feasible I'm interested with Fulcrum. She packs a punch but a good Robot Rumble is right up her alley.
  4. Fulcrum wasn't the most tactically minded of the Interceptors. For better or worse, her specialty was trading blows with heavy hitters. Being swarmed was one of her greatest weaknesses in combat. Fighting a god would be easier than these lightning fast soldiers. Normally, she'd take to the air now and strafe the local criminals, well away from Daka and other pointedly painful objects. But her stubborn loyalty wouldn't allow that: Geckoman needed someone to watch his back, and judging from the Wire-Fu-like sounds coming from him, he needed all the support he could get. Not to mention the additional problem of the swordsmen headed for the house. She needed to warn the others... All of which overlaid the gods-awful tinging of her lifeforce being drained away by that damnable sword! Unfortunately for the giantess, these instinctual thoughts occurred much too slowly. Perhaps because of the crystal, the speed of the opponents, or both. Not that it mattered. Harried as she was, the crystalline blade impacted the side of her face with an echoing POW! Even her cosmic senses tumbled end-over-end, spiraling even as she herself stumbled wildly. Compared to that blade, the woman's sword felt like a splinter. She had enough sense to keep her guard up and throw a few defense blows, but she knew she was hurt. Badly. Whatever words came to mind never exited her mouth. The world started dulling around her except for the Daka's numbness.

  7. Fulcrum accepted that her enemies moved faster than she. Which was quite on the mark, and they talked a great deal was well. Must be something about the extended Card family. Although Erik was far more endearing than these brutes. Unfortunately, their little ruse worked well enough. The Dakanan's attacks were skilled but ineffective, culminating with his proper strike. Predictable but effective as the blade opened a gash in her costume. Not her mind you, but that didn't matter after the tingly, numbing pain that the proximity of the blade brought. The grimace was natural if the source was not. Daka. Damn. That's when the broadsword gouged into her shoulder. This one really hurt, and left a smooth, black slash in her shoulder. Grunting through the pain, her counterattack was in the air before the broadsword landed: aimed at the Dakanan. The blow was lightning fast. Supersonic in fact, a SNAP jab that normally scared the pants off most combatants. A solid hit to the chin, but the fellow looked as impressed as Erik. This was going to be a good fight. Raising a fist, she looked ready to really wade into the fray, when a familiar glow coalesced around her. A red glow. She risked a glance to her bracelet. The light was off. What a thing to forget! "Ah, crap," she mumbled as the first wisps of malignant energy spiraled into and began staining the Daka saber a brilliant crimson.

Looks like we're in for a fight, and Fulcrum has quite a dilemma.
  9. On second thought, I'm good. Ecal may want to try for a higher initiative, but I'm probably at about as good as I'll get.
  10. "Dullest or craziest crayon in the box," replied Fulcrum as she typed into her phone. Her brow furrowed in thought, but whatever crossed her mind, she didn't voice the idea. "Regardless I wouldn't miss your graduation if I could help it," she added with a smile of her own. Sitting the phone aside, she returned to her slowly dwindling plate, "Centurion was a globetrotter well before that was common practice. I wouldn't be surprised if he worked with the Architect or the local crew from time-to-time." "Actually," she began after a sip of tea, "That comment about Freedom City being a weirdness magnet? That's because Freedom City is the center of our universe. At least that is the hypothesis floating around top-shelf mystic and super-science circles." Looking at her two companions, she shook her head, "I'm not kidding. Apparently the League has meetings over this idea. Freedom is the lynchpin to this universe's stability, and that is why we attract so much weirdness, good and bad."
  11. Ouch! With Gizmo's permission, I will gladly switch initiatives for sake of suspension of disbelief. +12 vs +1...yeah.
  12. Sounds good. Initiative (I:Eden) (1d20+1=15)
  13. Lacking much in the way of action, Fulcrum frowned and scanned over the fence tops. Definitely one of the perks of her height, she thought to herself. The area looked secure, and that really bothered her. Erik's sensitivity to energy wouldn't overreact to something as simple as a black out. She hoped at least. "Hmm...I don't like this at all," she muttered before taking off and slowly rotating for a full 360 degree view of the neighborhood. At which point she abruptly stopped at the sights. First, that red glow obviously wasn't natural. Secondly, and more pressingly, were the sword-wielding Card family rejects. The darkness shrouded them nicely, but the tingle of subatomic particles gave her an outline of the threats. While she knew Geckoman was dangerously competent (his snark aside), 12:1 odds didn't do him any favors. Well, time to back him up! Fulcrum landed slowly behind Geckoman, arms behind her back. Whether she consciously attempted or not, her arrival reinforced her teammate's ultimatum. "You heard the man. Clear out."
  14. Mona nodded and replied to Joe, "Wow! A lot smaller then I assumed. Sounds like a good crew though. Plus the comfort that the villainous plans are just as convoluted up there as well." "The Architect sounds familiar. Did any previous members work with Centurion? Could of sworn he did some missions up north with an Architect," she asked after slowly chewing a bite of, well, something delicious as far as she was concerned. "Sounds like a plan then, Vicky. I'll double check, but my schedule should be free around graduation too. Barring an alien invasion or some nonsense." A note was added to her phone before she said, "Speaking of which, what time is graduation? Actually, for that matter, would you confirm the date for me too please?" Frowning, she flipped through the calender on her iPhone, looking quite comical given the size of her hands. "I don't want to miss it or forget your graduation present."
  15. "I wouldn't give it up for the world," replied Mona to Joe's rhetorical question about making a difference. At least she did while sitting down with her plate. "The Deep Ones have been really active lately," Mona commented between bites, "I wonder if the whole extra-dimensional manifestation relied them up or if something bigger is in the works." A thoughtful look passed over her face before she asked, "I'm not terribly familiar with the Boston superhero scene. How is it?" She looked genuinely curious, and this coming from someone who chatted with Vicky about heroing on both coasts and Chicago. As for the shopping trip? Mona gave Vicky a sidelong glance and smirked slyly, "As stereotyped as that sounds, the laughs would be worth the effort. Still I have to, reluctantly, suggest no. Imagine the amount of trouble those two, alone together, bored, could cause. But a shopping trip sounds great. How is your calender?"

  17. "That's...one wild story. Which makes it even better as comic material," said Mona, shaking her head in equal parts disbelief and excitement. "I'd have to go with the latter as well," she added, looking closely at the detail work. "This stuff sounding normal isn't really the problem. The problem is getting jaded about the whole 'new normal'. That's when you know you need a break from the whole hero thing." At the mention of the Boston group, her eyes lit up, "Whenever you get a chance, please do. Maybe we can make a shopping trip out of it?" Mona almost forgot that she too ordered lunch until the waitress arrived with her tea. Thanking her, she stood up with plate in hand. "Excuse me one moment." In a minute or two another heaping plate would be added to the table.
  18. Mona nodded to Vicky's replies, glanced at Joe and added, "I do vaguely remember a very interesting trip as well..." Smiling slyly as well, she shook her head and continued once Vicky excused herself, "Small universe. Anyway, that's the basis. I want to tell real stories from real heroes. Past true stories are what I have in mind, at least in the beginning. Whenever you have a good adventure, drop by or contact us and we'll work out the details. Absolutely, key details will be kept under wraps. Privacy and security will definitely be a top priority. I do expect you to be honest though. From what Vicky has told me, you're a straight shooter, so I just want to make sure we're on the same page." Glancing around for Vicky, Mona quickly added, "Art monkey, ha! She's got talent and a good head on her shoulders." She then leaned as if nothing happened. "That being said, I'm looking at an anthology book right now. Various heroes telling their stories, spreading their message, until we can branch out into full-time books for individual heroes or teams." She glanced over Vicky's samples and nodded in approval before looking up at Joe, "We may have plenty to write right now though. Is that a zombie dressed in a Nazi uniform?"
  19. Fulcrum turned back to Vicky as Joe approached, "Ashton is a good neighborhood. Hope you like that one. If you need anything, please ask." She smiled and looked at the menu as he ordered. She ordered as well, going for the buffet option with hot tea. Once the waitress departed, the conversation turned directly to business. Joe sounded like a straight shooter, and from the look on her face, Mona appreciated that. "'Cape' being Vicky and I," she added, offering him a good, firm handshake, "Mona Teymourian. Pleasure to meet you."
  20. Semi-Autogyro is having ISP problems. He'll be back online as soon as possible.
  21. Mona leaned forward, scanned the picture, and smiled, "Can't go wrong with cultists! Is that a new shading technique? The layers look more defined." After another careful shift, she grunted and simply leaned back, looking resigned to the seating arrangements. "Apartment hunting huh? I don't envy you that. Especially if you want anything in Riverside or Midtown." She laid the folder down and thought a moment, adding, "I think my old loft is still on the market. Open design, good footage, exposed-brick finish, only two neighbors. Main disadvantage is the location: down by the south docks in the middle of a warehouse cluster. Cuts the price down though." "Looking forward to being a free wo...," started Fulcrum. The giantess, all eight foot of her, turned to look at their dinner guest and possible client. She waved to him as well.
  22. Mona arrived only a few minutes later. Her attire was casual as well: her typical jeans and t-shirt look, a large manilla folder under one arm, and her (to most people) large engagement ring. She waved to Vicky and headed over her way. The staff stood dumbfounded at her appearance, but the exact thoughts going through their minds weren't readily apparent. Mona smiled politely to them and took a seat across from Vicky. "Hi, Vicky. How is life treating you?" Dropping the folder on the table, she struggled to find a comfortable position. "You work fast I must say."
  23. Mona walked across the living room, which wasn't more than two steps, and gave Erik a kiss on the cheek. Softly, she replied, "The name will come to you." She was about to ask what was wrong, but Vince beat her to it. Instead she steadied Erik as the power flickered off. Obviously this wasn't a normal outage. If it affected Ellie and Erik's metamagical abilities and Mara's technology, the EMP was an attack. Chris was on the right track. "Form a perimeter. Erik and Ellie with Willow. Gina, Mara: the house. I'll take the back," she called out as she hovered for the back door. "Don't you have a manual override, Gecks? Need a lift?" She yelled from the kitchen. Her movement was relatively slow while she drifted into her own cosmic senses. Penetrating barriers were still beyond her ability, but if anything unusual was still about the house, she wanted to know and right now. Glancing out the back window, she threw open the door and stepped outside. As gamers would say, she was a tank and her job was to draw aggro.
