  1. "In the future, if these sorts of offers come your way, I suggest you contact Danger, Inc and sell your information instead. Ask for Ace." Phantom turned her head, clearly dismissing the man and leaving it up to Ace to pay them for the information or not as he saw fit. Her eyes glowed brighter under the cowl of her cloak as she cast her senses outward, already checking out the warehouse and the docks with her scrying.
  2. OOC thread for Grim and Phantom's interdimensional hi-jinks!
  3. To say Phantom was not having a good evening would be a drastic understatement. After calling out 'sick' to work for the third time this week, it would not only be a wonder how she paid all of her bills, but downright amazing if she had a job to go back to. Unfortunately, this was the third time she'd gotten wind of some interdimensional widget that was wreaking havok in some would-be mystic's hands. That would all have been bad enough but she had reason to suspect that these objects were all coming from one source as they all sent her on a merry goose-chase with some sort of misdirection spell. Tonight she'd gone to the Fens, searched her own Riverside and was now trolling the West End. She'd started the evening with a scowl and now was starting to look downright murderous as she perched on one of the roofs, and scanned the surrounding area once more, sorting through the various mystical signatures as she tried to figure out where the blasted thing was showing up now. On the streets below, there were occasional nervous glances directed up at the figure as her cloak billowed and snapped with its mistress's irritation. Phantom was not in subtle mode tonight, as her attention was focused on finding first the item, then whoever was responsible for this evening's frustration. She did notice that there was a familiar interdimensional individual, not too far away in her search.
  4. "Aww," Alex said quietly, figuring that it was some student's pet that had gotten lost. Having an interdimensional as a roommate had led Alex to make those sorts of assumptions. She fished around in her pocket for the half eaten granola bar and, after peeling off the wrapper held it out. Alex was animal savy enough that she held it flat on her palm, all her fingers together and out of the way on the off chance the critter had poor aim. She knelt down, holding out the offering, and began to project a warm, fuzzy calming feeling outward. "Hey, there. You lost?"
  5. Psychic powerz ftw! Notice check: 32
  6. Alex tilted her head at the door, curiosity peaked despite herself. Alex thought aloud, "What about scrying or ESP-type skills? I can extend my senses out almost twenty miles now. Is it shielded or anything?"
  7. Alex slipped into her seat, eyes wide and curious as she took in the cafe. It was freeing to finally be able to go someplace other than lab to home and back again and she caught Mike's eye and gave him a small grin of pleasure. She reached up and tucked her hair back behind one ear before she ordered a glass of water and sat there swinging her legs. It was awfully crowded in here... Alex caught Erin's eye. It hadn't escaped the psychic's notice that Erin was not always the most comfortable in crowded places and she sent a quick thought at her roommate, 'You okay? Lemme know if you need to get some air or anything.' "Mark won the tickets and he was nice enough to give us the extras," Alex enthused, cheerful and uncaring of seeming uncool as she announced, "I've never been to a concert before."
  8. Phantom will see if her nullify dimensional spell will close down these rifts :)
  9. 'I can say for certain that these tears are made by no magic I know of. I'd go so far as to say that I doubt this was magical at all. It could be the result of some very high end tech but that is not my forte. Phantom provided the mental map of rifts to Scarab to supply to the mental map. If no one has need of me, I will see about ensuring these rifts close without letting anything out. I can teleport if anyone needs my assistance urgently. Nodding slightly to herself, Phantom cast about to find the rifts to the most dangerous dimensions and began setting about mending the tears, her face set in concentration as she focused on casting spells to seal off Earth Prime. Still, she remained alert, half a mind on all the remaining cracks. Despite the calm of her mental voice, Phantom was more concerned than she voiced.
  10. "Then start talking," Phantom demanded coldly, "Who's dressing up in Sky Lord regalia and what are they after?" Phantom flicked her attention to Ace briefly before she scowled down at the thug. Ace could tell that she was hovering in order to loom over the man, her cloak covering how short she actually was and billowing out to add bulk.
  11. "That sounds like a good plan tho' what if someone sees us flying. I mean, its not so big a deal for me an' Mike. We already have a record with the government," Alex winced slightly, "I mean, we don't have secret identities to protect so much."
  12. If you do not think there is any knowledge I have, that you do not already possess then I fail to see what aid I could possibly provide, Phantom returned, unmoved by the passionate speech. These are not refugees, nor helpless innocents. Earth Prime cannot support even a fragment of the refugees that do exist. Their world needs their presence. Would you also relocate their children? What about the others on their planet? Decide then, who is saved, and who remains to fight in a hopeless battle. And if your choices result in a war lost that might have otherwise be won, so be it. Thoughts and memories roiled below the surface of Phantom's mind before they dissapeared behind a smooth wall that did not invite questions. "I know of this world," Phantom said aloud, "And I can confirm that whoever is behind the spell that brought them here is capable of bringing an army the same way."
  13. Alex quickly found a seat and settled in, fastening the buckles and straps of the harness. She picked one where she could see as much as possible, her eyes bright and excited to see the airship in action. "I love flying," she said cheerfully to the group, "No matter how, I never lose the thrill. It's just so neat! It's like spitting in the face of the basic principles of physics!"
  14. Toughness save: 1d20+11=28 x 1 You have successfully grappled her: 1d20+4=14
  15. Alex looked puzzled, her brow furrowed as she tried to place Mark's dad. Mike, have you heard of him? Her mental tone was faintly fretful as Alex hated not knowing information, and didn't want to offend Mike's roommate. Her gaze flicked over Mark's face, her wide eyes solemn and intent as she took his measure. Like Mike, Alex was an inherent rule follower but she was more trusting than her best friend. Alex took a small step closer to Mike and touched his wrist lightly, her hand sliding into his briefly in breif reassurance, It's okay, Mike. He's nice. He's not going to get any of us in trouble.
  16. Phantom adjusted her senses to look at the psychic, her lips compressed into a flat line at that request. As Phantom wasn't fighting the mental connection, it wasn't difficult to read the mystic behind her mask. Letting one go for questioning was one thing, but to let the forefront of a dimensional army wander free went against the oath she'd taken to protect the veil. Beneath that, she was feeling both mocked and ignored by the heroes she'd found herself thrown into this with. Despite her flat expression, Phantom was struggling with the options she had been presented. At the end of this, they go back to their world. They do NOT belong here. On this point, I will not compromise. Phantom replied finally, her mental tone firming as her emotions were brought under control with ruthless discipline. Her cloak fluttered open as Trask's partner in crime was deposited on the ground from its inky depths. She floated back dispassionately as the woman regained her sense of her surroundings.
  17. "We were trying to give the rundown on the school to Eddie but we're all pretty new ourselves. I can't wait for fall!" Alex enthused, "Maybe you have some insight on stuff if you've been here a while."
  18. Alex looked both excited and suitably impressed with the hovering airship. She gave Chris a shy smile, hands tucked bahind her back, "She's a lovely ship. I'm Alex. Thank you for the ride."
  19. Alex shook her head, "Nope, no one I know of, I think. There's Eddie but he's living with his folks until the fall. He does love music though." She beamed up at Mike, jostling him once with her elbow. She didn't send anything accross their mental link but her face was easy enough to read that she thought he ought cheer up and enjoy the evening out.
  20. "I'm so, so sorry," Alex appologized profusely, her expression abashed. She stumbled a little as she was righted and gave Mike a look that was both pleading and embarrassed at the same time. "I'm Alex, Alex Albright. Erin's my roommate. Erin, you okay? I'm sorry. I guess I still need to work on that a little more, hunh?"
  21. A bolt of crackling black energy caught the first man in the chest and sent him crashing back against the wall. Phantom's cloak flared open wide enough to reveal the heroine and the mystic energy that swirled around her as she thundered, "Stop right there!" The mystic swooped in on him, the light behind her shining through her ghostly form.
  22. 1d20+10=17 Hit on the first Mook in my surprise round. 1d20+5=21 Intimdate Check
  23. Scowling at the captain, Phantom paused to solidify completely, before she fired another barrage of crackling blasts at the Captain once more.
  24. Switching from Intangible to Forcefield this round. Attack on Knieval again. 1d20+10=18 Another miss, I believe?
