  1. Alex followed in the wake of her friends with grim determination and followed the boys out into the back alley as quickly as she could. She slammed the door open and glanced from one girl to the other. It might be easier to take the girl that wasn't a psychic under but that went still against Psyche's moral code. They had numbers on these two girls after all and, to Alex's mind, she was better equiped to take the psychic on. Chin firming in determination she struck out at the girl's thoughts again.
  2. None of the rent-a-cops were anything close to on par with noticing Avenger despite being highly paid members of their field. So with ease, Avenger was able to sneak into the British wing. There were a few missing pieces although the bulk of the exibit remained untouched. The piece that Avenger had been sent to check out, of course, was missing. In this case, it was an original by Madge Gill, one of the classic examples of 'outsider art' which was a fancy term to describe things that were drawn by people on the fringes of society, or occasionally reality. In this case, the woman drew pictures she was guided to by a 'psychic friend'. Clearly a low point in his daywalker errands. In any case, the piece was missing from its empty stand. In its place was a cartoon-style bomb, complete with fuse but instead of traditional black with 'TNT' the bomb was laquered in red and gold in a distinctive scarab pattern. As messages went, it was not the subtlest.
  3. The cameras panned accross the kids remaining on the field and, while the Freedom-tron was down there were other screens picking up the image in the stadium. If nothing else, this at least would be on the nightly news. The reporters that had been on scene for the baseball game quickly scrambled together with the pluckiest of them projecting enough to ask, "Who are you?"
  4. I'm guessing you want write-ups of what we think our alter-selves would be like? :)
  5. "Don't touch that," Phantom ordered, most likely unneccesarily but one could never be to careful. "I think this is where we call Freedom City's resident Egyptian themed super-hero. I'll leave that to you, Ace, I'm sure you have the number." She pursed her lips under her mask, frowning at the sarcophogus. Could be a vampire but the flavor felt off. What ever it was, it was old and the bindings had been powerful. But it was time to put Taylor's skills to use rather than Phantom's and she quickly examined the sarcophogus for all of its distinctive markings. Egyptian wasn't one of the languages she read but the pictogram languages were always the easier ones to interpret.
  6. Sorry, above is the notice check for my detect magic spell
  7. For Scarab and Avenger. Pre July 15th. Exact date to follow when I know how long this plot takes : )
  8. Another day, another stupid pointless task for a city elder. Today, it took Jack to the Kirby Muesum of Fine Arts. There was a special show that was being cycled through that was focusing on art from the 1940s era of War-Torn Europe. As pretentious art shows went, it was pretty high on the list. As usual, security was state of the art at the museum which made the morning's events quite so surprising. It was shortly after lunch time when the klaxion bells of the alarm sounded and security guards swelled out of the woodwork like high end FBI Agents, rounding up people and shutting down exhibits. Jack did happen to glance down and see where the bulk of the activity was down the hallway that led to the wing on Blitz-time Britan.
  9. Phantom looked up quizically then blinked once or twice. Of all, things she was not expecting an appology. Honestly, no one had ever appologized for interdimensional travel. Not in the years she'd been performing this particular task. She opened her mouth to respond, but froze with her eyes widening. Before Grim knew what she was up to, Phantom grabbed Grim's hands and laughed, "Yes, Avalon. Of COURSE! That's the link I was missing. Bless you, Grim." As Grim probably thought she'd lost her mind, Phantom explained excitedly, "These are all from vastly different dimensions but they're from Primal realms. Like Avalon." Phantom paused, "I appreciate the appology, Grim. You're the first that's ever offered one, and for that I thank you. I'm sorry that you found it lacking. It can be... very difficult to be not wholy of one world. I can understand a quest for answers."
  10. Phantom left Ace to examine the rocket packs as she drifted towards the crate with the magical things inside it. One would think being ephemeral, she could just stick her head inside the box. Unfortunately, the whole guarding the dimensions package did not come with the ability to see in the dark. Instead she began, as carefully as possible moving the crate out from under the stack with the same energy she'd used to open Ace's crate, "They've got something magical in here." Phantom's tone had taken on that grim edge of determination again. Until now, she'd been more at ease as this was outside her usual responsibilities but the presence of magic here had brought the heroine to full, grim duty.
  11. Phantom looked up, from where her fingers touch the locket, unsure whether to be offended at the 'hag' comment or not. "Yes, it's something like that and, no, I didn't lose anyone. I think that might be easier, sometimes, if I had." Phantom sat down on the couch, going solid with a thought as her cloak spread around her, "It's not a badge. At least, not one that anyone shares. In all the multiverse, there might be many versions of the girl I was before I took it but I have no real counterpart. There are people who watch the doors but its my job to put everything back and my job, alone." If Phantom hadn't been so worn down, it was doubtful that Grim would have caught the mystic with her guard down. She toyed with the chain on the locket briefly. "You think I'm cruel. Most people do, but its what I have to be. There are worlds out there... Not everyone can be saved. Not if the balance is to be kept, but it destroys something inside you when you walk away. Every single time." She lifted her shoulder in a shrug and turned her face away from Grim's judgement to focus on the items, her brow furrowed as she tried to figure out the link.
  12. Phantom gave Grim a quelling scowl that lacked the heat of anything but vague irritation and reluctant amusement, "You stopped. If I am serving as 'back up' I do very little good if I don't come find you. You COULD have been in a battle, not finding teenage boys that are doing some sort of ill-concieved stake-out with snacks." She glanced over the two boys with glowing white eyes before glancing around the warehouse roof and lifted her fingertips to begin forming arcane sigils to cast some sort of spell, "Might as well check again. I don't suppose you two have seen anything odd?" It was amazing how Phantom could ask that, shimmering out of existance and standing next to Grim, without the slightest tone of irony.
  13. Phantom let out something that sounded suspiciously like a sigh of frustration, "Alright, what is the plan going to be? There is a very good chance that with what knowledge of dimensional travel this despot has, that he is also going to be aware of the other illicit travel to and from his dimension. I don't feel it would be wise to split our forces as they are going to have the ability to scry and are surely going to vastly out number us already. I think we need to discover what is giving him the power to travel between worlds and see what we can do to negate that as our primary focus. We know he has the power to move an army into our world already. I'd also suggest sending the two from his world out to recruit whatever forces might be willing to ally against him. We will also need to rescue the children he has taken."
  14. I don't see why not. I'd just have to either a) stunt the affects insubstantial on my dimensional pocket. Or stunt a higher end dimensional travel affect off my magic array
  15. So, I've been doing doodles of game-scenes, etc. and I know a few people have been wanting pictures drawn of their characters so if you have a request, put 'em up here. I will do my best to do these in the order they came in. The one caveat is, I may be very slow at times to getting these done but I will do my best to get them finished. When you put your request here, give me as much a descrip as possible so I don't have to go hunting down information. That would be a big help. Thanks! ETA - I know Deviant Art won't let ya download. PM me with your email if you want the jpg sent to you. ETA 2 - I can believe I actually had to start breaking this out into different lists. 16. Phantom would love to be in on this :D
  17. Well, she's been out of active play for the last three decades or so, so she's going to have to build up her contacts. Other theif-types she'll treat with professional courtesy or even mentor those with real promise. The more global-domination or blood thirsty bad guys she treats with disdain or outright avoids. She sticks pretty hard to her own code of honor and judges people by that benchmark: no killing, minimal collateral damage, innocents should be left out of it, no going after a hero's family or private life, theft is an art and not a job. As for heros, any heros that were active during the sixties and early seventies she's probably run into a time or two at least. Any golden-age heroes might have fought along side her against the nazis. The only person I've deliberately written in as having a notable past history is Scarab.
  18. Psyche rolled her eyes, releasing the camera bot, "It's about protecting the people who need it, with as little collateral damage possible. Who cares about being cool? It's entirely subjective and in the grand scheme of things, utterly meaningless." She brushed her hands off on her jeans and stood up, glacing around at the stirring crowd. "It's about the fact that we rescued tens of thousands of people today and survived it. It's about making a difference."
  19. Psyche gave Edge a dubious look, sweeping a glance over their team. She knew Erin would need someone to talk to later about the fight. The boys sure did need medical attention and Mike would have his 'I can't be a super-hero' freak out later on for sure. Someone should find out what exactly Hellion could do and she was pretty sure she saw Breakdown break some boy's nose at the end of the fight there. Poking a few buttons on the camera bot she nodded after a moment. "Well, we should explain some of the mess we've made but it's probably best if we're not all here for it. Otherwise these two might make US out to be the bad guys. They do need medical attention. Those of us that are uncomfortable with any of the fall-out should get them to the EMTs. I'd say that should be James and Erin at least. Edge wants to make a speach and he's the best of us to sway public opinion. I'll get the camera set up and make sure we have a full record to defend ourselves back at school if we need it."
