  1. He auto-passes, given his Sense Motive. OK, Darksider is up.
  2. Avenger blinked as the fight went on, taking careful note of everyone's reaction. More out of worry for the girl who was going insane right in front of him, he opted to intervene once it was obvious no one was was moving fast enough. He saw the big girl, Archeville's girlfriend, readying herself, but he was acutely conscious of how much Dead Head had already been hurt. No. No more blood in the water tonight. He got between Wander and Dead Head before she could do any more damage than she already had, risking his own neck in the process as he looked her in the eye and said, "He's dead for real this time! Thank you! You won the fight! You should go home now."
  3. People with any kind of Acute or Accurate regular sensory power: Rick just went away. You can see him, you can hear him, but his scent (Geckoman), etc, has just _stopped_. Hellion, Something damn peculiar just happened to Rick Lucas. The nearest you can tell is that something of both magic and dimensions just broke inside him, and now he's radiating a very odd sort of energy. The overall effect (in mundane terms) is a bit like seeing a concrete wall breaking, and discovering from your suddenly clicking Geiger counter that it was the containment vessel to a nuclear reactor.
  4. After a quick redirection from McNider, the heroes and their grim cargo wound up at the special clinic adjacent to Freedom Hall, the doctors there the best in the world and trained to deal with super-injuries. The ER is a bright, loud place, like they all are, and within seconds Mark's body has been pulled away, his parents close behind. Peering through the half-glassed doors, the Young Freedom members can just make out the frantic activity inside, and the raised, furious voice of Rick Lucas over everything. "No! Damn you, no! This will not happen!" A few seconds later, he and Mark's ashen, shocky mother are outside the room, an increasingly frantic Rick on the phone. Within minutes, a cavalcade of middle-aged and elderly heroes are arriving; some recognizable as retired members of the former Freedom League, others new faces to the Young Freedomites. Rick Lucas is calling in every favor earning over a lifetime fighting alongside the most powerful heroes in the world. But none stay long, the look they give Mark's parents enough to convey everything. Even some of the present Freedom League had arrived now; Captain Thunder and Lady Liberty, the latter immediately going in to try and help Mark. Siren, an old friend of the family, did her best to comfort Martha, but Rick didn't so much stop pacing, or talking, since they were escorted out of the room. "I will not allow this," he muttered, over and over again, "I will not allow this. Not my son too. They can't take my son from me." His fury and grief are palpable, the look in his eyes of a man utterly betrayed by the universe. But none of it seemed to matter when a grief-stricken Lady Liberty stepped out of the room, her hands covered in blood. "Rick, Martha...I'm so sorry." As Martha turned white and burst into tears all over again, Rick's face turned red and he staggered, as if the old man was about to have a heart attack...or as if his heart had been torn from his chest.
  5. Avenger gave a terrible laugh, his body in the form of a drifting, all-encompassing cloud of mist drifted towards the furious werewolf. "Is that a dog barking in the nighttime? Why yes, I think it is!" Great billowing shrouds sprung up on both sides of Lukos, as if the night itself was turning against him. "Your threats mean nothing. Your power means nothing. You are a child playing in the dark, hoping the stuffed animal on your head will keep you safe from the monsters." People watching the fight by electronic means saw nothing but an increasingly wary lycanthrope, just as they'd seen nothing of Avenger since the fight began. A voice sounded roughly an inch from Lukos' left ear. "But nothing will keep you safe from me."
  6. I have no problem with you popping your alt. form. Startling as a Standard Action: Woo-hoo! Nat 20! For an unbeatable DC 41. Using my move action to fly over and get to know Lukos on a more personal level.
  7. Faith could feel the after-effects of the Terminus shard in Mark's body, the cold, absolute touch of pure entropy and death seeping through him. Mark's parents were there in a second, Mark's mother screaming and near tears, his father absolutely white-faced. Rick pressed his hands to the wound, stopping up the bleeding from the front, while he grabbed Erin's hands and through sheer force of will the old man pinned the super-strong teen's hands to the wound in Mark's back. But there was no real bleeding to stop, just a faint trickle, and Erin and Faith saw the ashen grief fall over the old man's face as he held his son's body in his arms. But what could be said, what could be done, but keep trying? "It'll be okay, son," Rick was promising, over and over again, "it'll be okay..."
  8. All of the new arrivals at the Lucas house were familiar with where Mark lived, so it was an easy matter to simply disappear from sight at school and reappear on the sidewalk in front of the two-story suburban house house. The usually immaculately green Lucas lawn was covered in broken debris instantly recognizable as the shattered remains of Omegadrones, with one particular armored figure visible in particular: Shadivan Steelgrave, the right hand of Omega, lay in a giant, broken suit of armor just before Mark. Mark was standing on the lawn, right over the fallen villain, looking slightly shell-shocked, a big crater in the lawn behind him. Just behind him stood his folks, his mother and father both visibly armed with surplus high-tech weapons Rick Lucas had acquired over his years with the Freedom League, a look of profound relief mixed with shock on their faces. At the sight of his friends, he turned and waved, a big smile on his face. "Hey guys! Sorry for all the alarms! You'll never believe what just-" KABLAM! At that instant, Steelgrave's armor exploded in a sudden starburst of black, twisted Terminus energy. The blast shattered the windows in the Lucas house, knocked Mark's parents staggering, and set the lawn on fire. Standing between the booby-trapped armor and his friends, Mark's fragile, unprotected body absorbed the blast for them, leaving them entirely unhurt despite their proximity. As for Mark? Slowly he looked down, great surprise on his face, at the foot-long sliver of Terminus metal that had impaled him through the back and out through the center of the chest, covered in his lifesblood, before going limp and collapsing on the lawn. His mother's voice rent the air in a horrified scream of pure agony. "MARK!"
  9. Fulcrum, consider taking an HP and let things continue for a while? So Wander and Dead Head can actually have their fight? :D
  10. When Anderson glanced at Jack, Jack shook his head. "No," he murmured, leaning close to murmur in his subordinate's ear. "Watch her. If she goes that fast for undead, we need to know everything we can about her. Dead Head's not a fool. If he needs help, he'll ask for it. And even so...he can handle a lot of things." He hmmed, watching the battle go on. "She goes for the head, so she's experienced. Fast, too. Anger suggests she has a hair trigger. Might be able to use that."
  11. Quote, It is a -20 penalty to go into Stealth after an attack, not -1. It does trigger his readied action, which is to go Insubstantial (as a reaction, which is how readied actions work). As Avenger didn't roll a 1, he can still see Lukos after the attack. Go ahead and post your attack IC.
  12. "Or maybe not," Avenger conceded, still circling warily. Dealing with people who could sneak up on him always annoyed him. "I mean it's not really a fight, is it? You people cowering in darkness all the time, lamenting the beast inside you. It's really more of a mercy." Keep moving, keep moving, and be ready. "Must be one of Jack's people. Didn't recognize you without the collar. Maybe you'd look better stretched out on my-" When Lukos burst out of the shadows, Avenger was taken by surprise, but not so fast he couldn't act. Throwing a glass vial from his pocket on the ground, he yelled "Shazoom!" and the ground all around him exploded into mist as he vanished.
  13. Avenger Avenger does not spot Lukos. He maintains the standard action he's readied and continues with the trash talk.
  14. He sure does! OK, I've readied my standard and made my move. You're up.
  15. Avenger had arranged an arena full of ledges, walls, and traps, just the thing for a fighter who preferred close-in, stealthy fighting. His partner hadn't objected in the preliminary planning, something that had no doubt told both men much about each other. However, the fight started with the two men facing each other directly some thirty feet apart, as befit any good combat. Avenger met the werewolf's eyes, considering his previous fights with werewolves, and came to a rapid decision. "Dog-fighting's illegal." he taunted, a truly malevolent sound in his low, choking growl of a voice. "Let's see if you call a cop when I'm done." Hmm, didn't seem to phase him. Let's see if this will.
  16. Avenger readies an action that will go off when he's attacked by Lukos (standard) and tricks as a move action. 30, -5 for the move action=DC 25
  17. "Sir, are you sure this is all right?" Jack turned as his assistant came up behind him, the young man looking nervous in his new suit. With thick glasses on, thinning blonde hair, and yellow legal pad under one arm, he looked exactly like the secretary he was. Anderson was nervous about coming along to the fight, not that Jack could blame him in the least. After all, they were headed into the lion's den, a crowd of incredibly powerful beings who hunted and killed people like them for sport. He put his hand on the other vampire's shoulder, giving him a level look. "It'll be fine. You're with me, and they're not going to attack my assistant." He smiled. "Just make sure you write down everything you see once things get started. We'll need this. You, me, my family, and all the rest of us in this city." In a black suit and red tie himself, because of course you got dressed up for this sort of thing, Avenger led the way into the arena building.
  18. OK, there's a Bluff check for you, Geez.
  19. "Oh, thank goodness you're here!" Marionette ran quickly to Dynamo, throwing her arms around him and pressing her ample bosom against his chest. The front of her skin-tight white leather outfit was short enough that it wasn't easy to keep his eyes on hers. "There's a terrible monster lurking in the basement of this museum, and we've come to stop it. I know it looks bad, but there's a terrible curse on all these artifacts that we're trying to save. I think...I think it may have corrupted all these police officers!" She put a soft, delicate hand on Dynamo's cheek. "Won't you help us, please?" Over her mental link with the other women, she thought, "I want to do things to him. Make sure you don't break anything...fun."
  20. Round 1 Shadivan Steelgrave and 12 Omegadrones vs. Edge and the Lucas family Omegadrones: 15 Steelgrave: 14 Mark's Folks: 12 Edge: 9 (w/9 HP; 7 regular and 2 from complications) The Omegadrones use the aid action to assist Shadivan Steelgrave in attacking Edge. They succeed. Steelgrave recieves a +24 bonus on his next attack vs. Edge. On his round, Steelgrave attacks Edge. (He can't miss). DC 30 Tou save for Edge. He then activates his chamelon field, becoming invisible to Edge's only accurate sense. Edge spends an HP on Ultimate Toughness for a total of 26 and is Injured. (He wasn't wearing his costume today.) Mark's folks run for the house. They're safe from this one, for now. On his turn, Edge uses his Blast power to drop a tactical nuke on his front lawn. DC 27 Tou save for all the bad guys. Three of the Omegadrones are destroyed outright. Seven are injured. One is injured, stunned, and staggered. One is unhurt. He spends an HP to power-stunt Accurate Hearing off his massive Probability array as part of a particularly accurate blast, something he can easily afford. Steelgrave passes his first save. Mark forces a reroll, leaving Steelgrave bruised. Round 2 The surviving Omegadrones once again aid Shadivan's next attack on Mark. Once again they succeed, giving him a +18 bonus and again leaving him unable to miss Mark. Steelgrave doesn't like where this is going, and certainly doesn't want to be beat up by another teenager. On his turn, he deploys an invention that he's taken 20 on: a Ranged Drain [all powers of the Luck descriptor] Gun with Rank 14. (It's a full-round action for him) Mark spends 2 HP and passes. On his turn, still using his accurate hearing power together with the blast, Edge alpha-strikes the area again. 4 Omegadrones are destroyed. Five are left standing. Shadivan Steelgrave rolls a 1 and is left bruisedx2, stunned, and staggered. Edge spends another HP to surge and hit them all again. Steelgrave is unconscious. The last five Omegadrones all explode. (Mark spends all his HP to make sure that happens, the better to make a better world for his family.) OK, a little more time for everyone to post, and then I'll post in the IC.
  21. OK, the thread is officially up!
  22. Valkyrie staggered back, hate flashing in her pretty blue eyes as she raised her twin blades high. "I'm going to send you back to Hell, demon," she spat. - Outside, White Knight rocketed towards Fulcrum, a sneer half-visible on his masked face. "I'm going to beat you back to the desert, you-" His speed meant he didn't get time to let out the racist insult hanging on his lips, but the incredibly powerful punch he smashed into Fulcrum's jaw was painful enough on its own. "I've been making a few upgrades, honey!" he said with a malignant laugh as he circled her. "Going to use you for a workout!"
