  1. You have no idea what I mean, my revenant friend. And maybe it's better that you don't. Glad for the chance to change the subject, Avenger gratefully growled, "She's doing well. Another few weeks, and I'll be a father." Avenger shook his head at that. "Never thought I'd hear myself say that. Always regarded the idea with horror, much less what it would have meant...after."
  2. "Except me," said Mark wryly, grinning at Mike's polite phrasing. Some of his friends at school were considerably more direct when it came to telling him when his luck powers were and weren't acceptable. "I'll be as good as luck allows me," he said. "Maybe I'll just be the ump again."
  3. Avenger threw up his arm as the field of energy washed over them all, a rock seeming to fall right through him...but surely that was a trick of the light as the wash of Dead Head's power came through over all of them, pulling them away from certain death.
  4. "Oh yes," agreed Avenger, hmming at that. "I was distracted at the time." He reached over and put his hand on Taylor's stomach too, his gloves hiding the fact that his skin was the temperature of the air outside. "I guess the black hole's not very threatening at this juncture, though. Could you take the whole setup and drop it back in Freedom City, say in Archeville's labs?"
  5. Avenger strode unhesitatingly through the snow, following his fellow heroes and not looking affected in the least by the cold. I need to remember to warm up before I touch anyone, he thought. So they don't get any funny ideas. At the sight of Dark Star's prison, he called, "Phantom, can you see the generator that you cracked open before?!" He strode up to the container himself, giving it an experimental blow.
  6. Setting Divine Power Array to the Flaming Sword (free action) Move-Action to get in House's face Spending an HP for Ultimate Diplomacy. That's DC 40; enough to move a Hostile target between Friendly and Helpful.
  7. Freedom Angel flew into the hangar, dodging around explosions, his magnificent wings fluttering as he came to a halt in the air just in front of the huge creature there that was causing all the trouble. He spread his wings wide to get its attention, momentarily stopping the beast's rampage. "My friend!" he called out, seeking empathy with something he knew very little about, "can't you see the damage you're doing?" He pointed to some nearby fuel barrels. "If you're not careful, this whole building could explode, endangering innocents everywhere." He extended his free hand. "Come. Let us put an end to this violence."
  8. "I feel funny," admitted Mark, watching his feet very carefully as he walked down the street. "Not even clumsy, really, just...really funny." He suddenly sneezed, violently, but caught himself after a moment. "And not ha-ha funny, either, just funny weird. But I'll be okay."
  9. You guys have reached the limit of the useful information you can get from Captain Thunder. :D
  10. "Drop me behind the monkey," said Avenger without hesitation. "I'll give him something to scream about," he added ominously, feeling especially protective of Phantom in her condition. "See if you can find Hellion or Atlas when you're done."
  11. Avenger spends the entire round refocusing, so he'll go at the top of the initiative order next time. Dark Star is up.
  12. "Let's go," said Avenger decisively, pulling his shirt back on and finding the spare costume he kept hidden in the basement. "Phantom can scry for Dark Star and get us all in gear. Inigo Montoya here can go find who murdered his father."
  13. "I've got an idea," said Edge. He fired his grapple gun at the roof of the nearest building and was soon climbing his way up the side, just like Adam West in the old Raven TV show. Over his commlink, he said, "I just need to get high enough so I can see all the police officer's guns! And you guys better be ready to move in real fast if the bad guys do anything bad!"
  14. Freedom Angel's Comprehend should read "Speak/Be Understood In/Understand" all languages. CLARIFIED BY SHAENTHEBRAIN
  15. "Psychics are pretty cool," agreed Edge, bouncing up and down on his heels. "Sometimes they can be a little creepy, but Alex is okay. We've got one girl who goes to school here who gets her psychic powers from somewhere in s-p-a-c-e, if you know what I mean," he said, pointing to the sky. "Do you have powers?" he asked Midnight. "Because if not, that's still awesome."
  16. Seems like enthusiasm is low here. Since this is important to a couple of character's story arcs, I'll post a wrap-up in a couple of days if no one goes. =)
  17. "Super-Hitler clones!?" Edge's eyes widened. "I always knew this day would come!" He shot a look at Ace. "Mr. Danger, do you still have that big steam-powered machine gun you used in the Adventure of Ace Danger and the Steam-Punks? Because if so, I have a great idea for what we can do with the Super-Hitler clones!"
  18. "No, which is too bad, because I could use her to solve this thing easy-peasy," said Edge, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. He'd changed into his costume in a moment, and had encouraged Faith to put on her school uniform as well. "If I could just see inside there, I could help them all out. I wouldn't even need to be near the building to do it. Do the cops have a security camera set up or something, like in those SWAT movies?"
  19. Wander's devastating blow, aimed at the area that Midnight had already cunningly tricked the Grue into striking, finished the huge shapeshifter with a single mighty strike. Giving a low, terrible moan, it collapsed beneath Midnight like a bowl of jelly, slowly collapsing down into a wet, sticky puddle as unconsciousness took from it all vestiges of shape.
  20. "Feh. We chased away the monster, didn't we?" Jack looked down at the place where Stesha had been and shook his head. "I've buried too many friends down here," he said unhappily. A moment later, with hopefulness dawning in his voice, he added, "The difference is, Stesha buried herself. That's something, at least. The soil down here is very fertile, it's been used to grow many things over the years." He folded his arms behind his back, his well-muscled torso flexing as he did so. Fighting the urge to violently beat Jack's good guess out of his skull, he simply said, "I don't come to your house and ask you a lot of stupid questions about your personal life, so I'll thank you not to do the same. As for you, Ace, you're not getting any of my mushrooms." He relaxed at that, putting his arms around Taylor.
  21. In a flash of light, the angel of Freedom appeared over the airport, grief on his face as he heard the screaming and terror below. Despite himself, he shot a look at the skies overhead, wishing for the impossible: for the Celestial Host to be by his side as they had been in his youth, when he'd been just a soldier in the eternal war against the Adversary. But they weren't there of course. This was a fight for superheroes. Hoping his new friends in the Freedom League had gotten the same signal he had, he dove to battle.
