  1. Geckoman & Quark, the Tuesday before (Sept 22nd) The Geckoman sat himself down at his controls as the silver-skinned Darian floated in, letting the door come up behind him. He'd cleaned up a bit since the last visit, a couple of cupboards which looked like they came from a kitchen unit having been added to the back of the ship. He brought the ship up to a safe height, before resting his hands on the acceleration lever and pushing it forward hard. The ship flew high up and arched towards the pier. "Got a superhero name? I mean, I can't call you Darian, can I?"
  2. Definitely doing Arrowhawk's origin story in full for this one. It's been the least fleshed-out part of his background to date. Geckoman's one'll need serious thought. He's too Silver Age-y for horror!
  3. "I don't know..." said Chris, looking out at the sea before him. "I mean, I could go anywhere on the planet with this ship, but I've never really done it. No idea where to go, what to do... Suppose it's like kids leaving school and wondering what they want to do with thier lives, only with superpowers and a high-tech vehicle."
  4. I'm really making the roll to confirm my suspicions than White Knight is up to something. Also, even though I'm leaving the Boardwalk, I'm assuming we keep using this thread for convenience?
  5. "Skinheads with serious firepower... What could they be up to?" mused Arrowhawk aloud. In league with a supervillain? "I'll go shake up a few guys," growled the dark-clad adventurer, firing a grappling gun and flying up onto the rooftops, breaking into a run as he headed across the rooftops towards his motorbike. Once there, he mounted up and revving the engine, sped off into the night towards Southside, cape streaming out behind the bike as it careered around cars with a practiced ease.
  6. Geckoman & Quark, the Tuesday before (Sept 22nd) "Needs a logo or something..." muttered Geckoman, following Darian into the portal So cool... "I'm guessing it's some kind of battlesuit?" he asked as they left Darian's home and headed towards the Pitchoo.
  7. "Nope, you'll find that's me," quipped Arrowhawk, whirling around in a ferocious sidekick into the battered thug's side, feeling it thud off his rock-hard body. Aaaargh, he screamed internally. My foot!
  8. You expect me to look impressed? ;)
  9. "Bring it," said Chris, crouching low as a robot drone shaped like a gun-metal orb dropped from the ceiling. It dropped to eye level and shot a foam dart at Chris, who immediately dropped to the floor, the dart flying over his head. Jumping up, the second shot bounced off the ground beneath him. Landing almost touching the drone, the third shot missed by millimetres as Chris threw his whole body to the ground. The drone flew away again, leaving him time to stand up and face its successor. He leaned back a little and lazily watched the shot fly past his head. Hey, is that shot moving faster? he had time to think before rolling forwards and turning to see a dart stick to the floor inches from where he was. "C'mon, shoot me ag-" PING! ThudThud The shot had fired, easily missing and slamming into the wall as Chris jupmed, slamming his hands into the ceiling and pulling his legs up. He dropped in a crouch. The third drone shot out, quickly spinning full circle and firing. Unable to react in time, the dart stuck to Chris's chest as he moved, running towards the wall. The drone flew after him, pivoting as the Geckoman stepped up onto the wall and shooting his leg, before waiting for him to drop off. The third shot hit the side of his head. "That... was intense," said Chris, pulling off the sticky darts and throwing them at the drone which had appeared behind him. He jumped and spun, hands hitting the roof and pulling the legs up to scuttle quickly away from the shot the drone had quickly aimed upwards. The timing was wrong and it went way off. Glancing down, Chris saw the drone take aim again, pushing off the wall hard to avoid the projectile. "Hah!" he shouted triumphantly, before wincing as he smacked into the floor, the third shot hitting his back as he tried to roll away. He elected to stay down. "Now, that's not fair. Plying a guy with food and shooting at him while he had that bloated feeling. "
  10. While writing this post, I was originally going to say 'football', not 'orb', but realised this is a US site so most visitors wouldn't get the description. 'Soccer' :x Part 1 -- Average attack +0 Attack vs defence 17 (1d20=10, 1d20=12, 1d20=16) Three misses, awesome! Part 2 -- Gifted attack +3 vs Def 17 (1d20+3=5, 1d20+3=15, 1d20+3=4) Rubbish drone; worthy of discount bin Part 3 -- Best in the World +7 [that's real-world standards, right?] vs Def 17 (1d20+7=19, 1d20+7=27, 1d20+7=27) Dammit Part 4 -- Moderate Superhuman +9 vs Def 17 (1d20+9=10, 1d20+9=13, 1d20+9=18) I guess he stopped being so cocky and actually started dodging here...
  11. Geckoman & Quark, the Tuesday before (Sept 22nd) "Yeah, I think so," said Geckoman, rolling tape tight around the straps, before tweaking the power setting to its lowest and shooting at the floor. "Yep, it works," he acknowledged, taking out his remote. "I'll get the Pitchoo to home in on us once we get there." He looks at Darian. "Don't you have some sort of costume or gizmo you could wear to stand out?"
  12. Chris strapped on his zappers firmly, tightening the firing mechanism around his fingers and knuckles. As one target appeared, he casually tightened his fist and twisted his wrist, a small blast of electrical energy shooting forth with a PEW! sound, shattering the wooden target. "Too easy," smirked the teen as another, slightly smaller, target appeared. He raised his left arm and hit the wall to the right of the target, following up with a right-handed shot which failed to break the target. The third shot missed. "Come on, I had a dead shot and the thing didn't break!" An even smaller, metal target popped up and Chris crossed his arms to support both zappers, firing off three shots in quick succession. The first went wide, the second ricocheting from the tough metal and the third hitting the pole supporting it and glancing off at an angle. "Awww, c'mon, this sucks!" Then a fourth target came up, moving from side to side. His left-hand blaster went off by miles, before Chris shook his head. "OK, focus... focus!" The right hand shot would have hit but for the target reaching the end of its path and reversing to follow it again. "Alright, let's shatter this thing," growled Chris, making a gesture like wringing his hands. As he brought them up in a firing position, an audible click came from the paired switches marked 'safety cut-off', to be replaced with a loud bang as a ball of concentrated energy exploded forth from the zappers in a cloud of smoke, hurling Chris backwards and hiting the target with a loud clang. As the smoke cleared, the target, now gently swaying on its pole, was seen to be completely intact. "What are you using to make these things? That's just stupidly strong..."
  13. Target One Three attack rolls (1d20+7=16, 1d20+7=15, 1d20+7=15) 3 Toughness rolls (1d20+5=8, 1d20+5=19, 1d20+5=22) Blown up on the first hit. Target Two Three attack rolls vs 15 (1d20+7=8, 1d20+7=16, 1d20+7=8) DC 20 toughness save (1d20+10=28) Screwed that one up, bit I'll save my HP for the harder ones. Target Three 3 Attack rolls vs Defence 20 (1d20+7=18, 1d20+7=25, 1d20+7=11) DC 20 toughness save (1d20+15=26) This isn't going well. Target Four Defense 25 (1d20+7=8, 1d20+7=19, 1d20+7=26) OK, I'll extra effort the final shot's blast to rank 7, fatiguing the device aaand... DC 22 toughness save (1d20+20=27) Well, in his defence his true superpower is bluffing....
  14. The black-clad hero leapt from the building, black cape silhouetted in the flames blossoming out around him. He swept his cape out, trying to gain some purchase on the air to slow his fall, flattening his body so he didn't injure Lullaby too much when she tried to catch him.
  15. Chris reclines in the chair, eating a bagel stuffed full of ham. Good ham. Yay, ham! "Coulda found it if they hadn't been so sneaky..." grumbled Chris to himself. "Wasn't even very smelly wood. What'd they expect from me, miracles?"
  16. Ah, that'll be useful to know for next time. Doesn't matter too much anyway, I didn't expect him to make the roll.
  17. A few edits for the gobsmacking Geckoman... In hind-sight, he's a bit too tough. I see him more as a ducking and diving type than someone who rolls with a hit, so I'd like to swap out one rank in Defensive Roll for one rank in Dodge Focus. I'd also like to bring him up by 1 pp in skills, with +1 to Bluff, +1 to Notice and +1 to both Craft skills. The final pp I'd like to spend on bringing his Charisma up from 16 to 17.
  18. Chris walked into the centre of the room, and stood looking around him warily. He heard the target click out of the wall, spinning rapidly to see where it was. The walls seemed bare. "Where are you?" he muttered, for a moment, before slapping his forehead and looking up. "Above me," he said looking embarassed. In response, the target shot back into the wall and the panel folded in front of it. The lights dimmed further and another click signified the wall projecting another target. He looked around himself slowly and methodically, taking ten seconds or so before spotting the target in a darker corner. "OK, in the corner, nice try." Then the room was plunged into pitch blackness. "Now, what if I'd been afraid of the dark? Inconsiderate," said Chris, looking into the darkness around him and straining his senses. Then he spotted it. The target, with a faint heat signature on it. "Back-left corner, the one somebody pressed their hand on the front of. Left a heat trail." He didn't bother hiding the smugness as the lights came back on and a small podium extended forth from the floor. It had a rag on it. "Now, I was expecting a trophy, but..." "You said you had a good nose, now blindfold yourself and we'll see, shall we?" explained Alan over the intercom. "Bet you ten bucks I can do it," smirked Chris, tying the blindfold tightly over his eyes. "I can smell the cash already." The click came, and Chris span, sniffing his way around the room completely blind. He spent a minute on his hands and knees sniffing about, before taking off the blindfold. "So, you can't bet with the students, right?" The podium with the blindfold hadn't gone back into the floor, but had flipped the top of it to reveal the target. "What else have you got for me?"
  19. First one... Notice vs DC 10 (1d20+4=6). Auspicious beginnings. Notice vs DC 10 (1d20+4=6). Very auspicious Notice vs DC 10 (1d20+4=6) Ok, barely passed the target in clear view, now onto the dimly lit one. DC 15 Notice (1d20+4=10) DC 15 Notice (1d20+4=5) DC 15 Notice- last try (1d20+4=23) OK, from now on I'll just roll in bulk. 3 DC 20 rolls (1d20+4=19, 1d20+4=9, 1d20+4=21) And, finally, a lovely pitch-black room I can't make the DC for. Unless I spent one of my two lovely hero points for Beginner's Luck to boost my Notice to +9. DC 25 artifically boosted Notice (1d20+9=19) ... Well, it was a good shot, anyway.
  20. Geckoman & Quark, the Tuesday before (Sept 22nd) "Yeah, might as well. I figured we'd go check out the pier right now and see if we can find anything out about this," said Geckoman, strapping his zappers firmly onto his wrists as he stepped into the portal, flicking the mechanism on over his fingers and putting his green gloves back on. "Don't have any duct tape handy, do you? I lost these earlier and want to keep them firmly attached tonight."
  21. Fantastic. High-class hardware out on my streets. Ok then, can't say no to this. Arrowhawk scowled at the revelation. "Done. Give me all you know and I'll start looking into it. I don't want guns like these on my streets." Especially considering very shortly they'll likely be fired at me...
  22. I think we should lock it, maybe with an eye to revisit it when Nyrath has more free time.
  23. "Ignore her, she's a rookie," muttered Arrowhawk in the woman's ear as he passed Lullaby the woman and prepared himself to jump. She wouldn't be able to make the return journey to get him at the rate the flames were spreading.
  24. "Hold on..." said Chris, spinning quickly in the chair to press a button down hard and yanking on a lever. The ship shot upwards out of the portal, pulling a quick barrel roll and cannoning out towards the bay at a high speed. "The great thing is, I'm not even approaching top speed yet," smiled Chris happily as he began lowering the ship towards the water in the approaching bay.
