Grim can pretty much only stand there and gape at Nightrival's effortless ascent to the top of the shelter, all the more impressive since it doesn't seem to involve any overt powers.

"Sounds like ya got the route thing down. I'm gonna head west just below the Boardwalk and check out Pennsylvania. Maybe we'll see some action tonight." He returns his gaze to Grim. "So, any questions so far?"

"Uh, nothing is springing to mind; of course your butt-kicking gymnastics routine just shut down most of my brain, so that's to be expected."

The young heroine opts to scale the wall her own way, effortlessly climbing to the top using her claws to take advantage of the tiniest gaps in the mortar; she scampers onto the roof and takes a moment to enjoy the view.

"Wow, gotta love this job, huh? Okay, you lead the way and I'll try not to die."

Alright, after some thought, I don't have enough to go on. I've thought of several ways to start, but I think they may be too far back in the story.

Shadowboxer and Grim,

Would you be okay starting "mid-story?" If my first post was of you guys hot on the trail of some drug shipment heading into Southside (skipping all of the buildup), would that be enough to get the ball rolling for you?

I am fine with this, for what it's worth, though it will be slightly weird to role-play a relationship which is basically just starting in our other thread; I think I can do it, but it will be slightly odd at first. :)

Lynn smiles when Mrs. Parker recognizes the origin of her name; of course it was very awkward being caught hugging Ren in the garage, but now she felt more comfortable than she had in a long time. She couldn't remember the last time she'd actually sat down for a family dinner.

"Thank you so much, Mr. and Mrs. Parker, and please call me Lynn. It's very nice of you to have us over for dinner."

Even though she's never been in the Parker home, it feels oddly familiar, all the little details like the furniture and decor; as she primly takes a seat on the couch, it suddenly strikes Lynn that it's very similar to her Grandpa Silberman's house. In reality everything is very different, but the sense of the place is the same. And the smells! The furniture polish, the laundry detergent, even the faintly musty couch, are all powerful echoes of her childhood visits. At long last, she can't help herself.

"Mr. Parker, do you know of a shop called Silberman's Books? It's here in the West End, and my...uncle runs it. You might even know the owner, Louis Silberman? He and my aunt have lived here forever."

I mean, I'm damn near invisible when I'm out there, but that doesn't mean you can't be seen, right?"

"I wasn't goin' ta be on patrol tonight, but I can change that. Why don't ya come with me? Might as well dive in."

She looks up somewhat apologetically.

"Oh, I'm sorry; here I am talking about what I need, and no consideration for your schedule. And I don't want to cramp your style or get you killed or anything, so, whatever's good for you."

First it was going to be 'Grim and Grimmer', then 'The Hero's Club', then just 'The Club', but none of them seemed to fit.

As of this morning, I made a decision; even though I love all the characters lots and lots, it's primarily about Grim's journey from light to dark and back, so it should really in all fairness be called 'Grimalkin'. Two of my favorite shows, Buffy and Veronica Mars, have large colorful ensemble casts even though they're named for one person, and that's the kind of feel I'm going for, so there we go. From time to time their might be issues where Grim has a minor role or none at all, but it will always come back to our tiny heroine in the end.

This has brought me a tremendous sense of relief, as I now have a proper name to use in any sort of legal documents or whatever, so it's all good; I hope to have the first issue of 'Grimalkin' on the shelves within the next two years, so wish me luck! ;)
