  1. The heat rolling off the burning van is surprisingly intense, but it's nothing compared to the hot shame Grim feels in the pit of her stomach; she staggers over to the red sport car and leans against it, panting deeply. "I don't like it...when they hit me. It's like it takes us...both out of the fight. I appreciate you saving me, or whatever, but...I need to learn how...to save myself." She makes a few random punching motions. "Gotta toughen up...like a...whole bunch." Even though she knows it's gonna hurt, she joins Rival in shouting. "Olly olly oxen free! Come out, come out...wherever you are!" Oh yeah, that hurt a lot.

  3. Upon consideration, I think I'll nix the Ritualist since it takes a little from our NPC mage B mentioned, plus it looks like it kight be hard Instead I'm opting for Trance, an ability she picked up as part of her studies and as a way to relieve on-the-job stress.
  4. I like him a lot, Seren! On the plus side, I think you don't have to pay for some of that equipment, as it will be issued by the department, and I think cellphones are considered free as long as you don't have a Wealth impairment, but Barnum will no doubt elaborate. I was out most of yesterday, but I'm pretty much home all day today, so I will be posting Lt Colby here shortly; she was an anthropology major at Freedom College, and has the Ritualist feat, as long as B is okay with that ;)
  5. Based on a chat with VM, I will probably not go with Container :D
  6. I've decided not to go with a villain for my ultimate replacement for Red Queen, so I'm converting a character I rather liked from another online campaign; her name is Gossamer, and her powers basically revolve around Prehensile Hair, ala Marvel's Medusa and DC's Godiva. In addition to the Additional Limbs and Elongation that come with the power, I wanted to add some other fun stuff, like Super-Strength, Super-Dexterity, Super-Movement and Super-Senses, and it seems like doing PH as a Container might be the best way to handle this build. I would appreciate any help anyone could offer, especially if I'm wrong about the Container thing :D
  7. "We've got company on the way, pair o' guards packing some non-standard firearms of some kind, and they'll be here in a tick." Once Imposter does his fade out, Faye starts chewing her lower lip. "Nice. I can take care of the rest of us, if ye keep yerself close, Ghost." She holds her hands over her head, fingers writhing, and the world seems to pull itself around the pair of them, a seamless visual illusion wrapping their bodies and erasing them from sight. Her voice hangs in the air when she speaks. "There, much better. Dryad, any reaction our little rumpus out there?"
  8. Did a minor edit to make my post better (I hope). ;)
  9. "No. No no no no." Lynn drops to the ground shaking her head, a queasy disbelieving look on her face as she murmurs to herself. "He married my mom." Then she shoots Icarus an accusing look. "You married my mom! I don't even exist anymore!" Her anger quickly dissolves into tears as she curls into a fetal ball of despair on the cavern floor.
  10. Double plus good! (I need to read that book again, now that I'm an adult.)
  11. I could be wrong, but shouldn't this sentence read "He must have been 80 or something by the time Omega came, but he suited up and went to go fight"?

    Avatars

This avatar might be short-lived, as it kinda freaks me out; it's 'Captain Howdy', the subliminal face briefly glimpsed in 'The Exorcist'!
  13. Faye nods as she twists her fingers on either side of her head, and a red glow slowly oozes out of her eyes, surrounding them like a raccoon's mask. "Right, so, let's have a look 'round, yeah?" She projects her vision ahead of the team, scouting for any threats.
  14. Grim shakes her head, a look of firm conviction on her face. "I can only speak for myself, but I won't betray you, not when the world is this messed up. How-" Her mouth hangs open for a second, then she looks nervously between Icarus, Ren and back to Foreshadow. "Wait, which Parkers? What family, where are they from?"

  16. Sorry, been very busy at work plus coming home late, my creative energies have been at an ebb; look for a character submission in the newxt two days :)
  17. I've heard it's quite intense  Aside from the Harry Potter novels, I haven't had a lot of luck reading fiction as I've gotten older, and now read a lot more non-fiction, especially as research for my own creative efforts. I've recently started two very different books that are quite fascinating. 1491: New Revelations Of The Americas Before Columbus is pretty darn cool and rather sobering, as it explores the effect European diseases had on the various Indian empires and cultures, as well as exploring just how advanced some of them really were at their peak (Inkas = wow). The US Army - Marine Corps Counterinsurgency Field Manual reflects our military's cutting edge thinking about how to fight our current and future wars, based on the harsh lessons learned in Iraq and Afghanistan; it's a radical rethink of the traditional approach to warfare and foreign relations, and possibly one of the most significant books of the new millennium.
  18. (In full eye-bulging Shatner mode) "COOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSSSS!"
  19. I didn't think I should post again so soon after my last one, but in the interest of keeping this thread active, I will do so later today.
  20. She could still hear the sounds of combat, but muffled like she was underwater, and it was all red behind her eyes. She was aware that she was in a great deal of pain, but it didn't seem terribly important, a memo to be idly scanned before dropping it in the wastepaper basket. Suddenly she feels the brush of a muscular arm, and now she's floating like Wendy in Peter Pan, a bubble of red warmth surrounding her head. The distant voice filters through her bubble, and a sharp point of light stabs her in the eyes as a stray thought hits her. The fight isn't over; he still needs me... She can feel herself nodding as a warm stream of blood trickles out of her nose, and something wobbles in her jaw. You have to swim to the surface; he's still up there, and he needs you... She takes a deep breath and pushes, as her eyes flutter open and the world rushes in- "I'm fine, I'm fine." She's lying on the asphalt of the parking lot, damp with sweat and feeling cold for the first time in months, though it quickly passes; directly above her, she can see Rival's eyes tracking someone just out of her range of vision, and she gives him a sharp nod that she instantly regrets. "Go, go get him." Grim activates her camouflage and rises unsteadily to her feet, trying to get the current lay of the land.
  21. She's not gonna put up a fight; she's too out of it at the moment, as you will soon see. And H-12 is fine.
  22. Thankfully she's now down to four, including her little solo domestic thread in the Fens The more I think about it, the better a target start date in June sounds... And I would be happy for you to run this one, VM. This is really Nightrival's show, going back to the last page of the Deja Vu thread, so Grim will defer to him; we should probably shift this over to PMs, I guess. Edit: I meant May, not June - it was late when I posted, and I skipped a month
  23. If need be, I can wait a bit on this, so I shouldn't say this has to happen in April; certainly Grim could benefit from any extra training (i.e. more PP) prior to leaping into Donnie Brascoland. That would also give her time to enjoy her newfound income from her messenger job. I'm a patient guy :)
  24. I'm not super happy with Red Queen, for I think several reasons; for a player like me, I don't think simple greed is a good character motivation, plus she's a little too Iron Age for my taste and possibly even this campaign. I was thinking of making a hero, but when I saw we have only ten villainous PCs (Imposter and Nano have sort of switched dancing partners), I didn't want to limit those numbers even more. Then I remembered a character I've developed for my comic named Vance Carver, who's more in the Sweeney Todd/Count of Monte Cristo mode of somewhat sympathetic yet ruthless villain focused on revenge. Vance is a subtle telepath who primarily focuses on memory alteration in the comic, but could be more traditional here on the site, with mental blasts and the like. Also one of his hands constantly secretes poison (normally covered by a glove), but it has a variable effect based on length of contact, either Paralysis or Death (which he tries to avoid). In the comic, he even starts in prison, which could fit the bill for at least two storylines I've heard people discuss here. I don't want to mess up any storylines RQ is currently in, so I couldn't bring in Vance until those are finished, but I just wanted to see what people thought of this concept.
