  2. Ok, I forgot that background stuff. It was clear in my head, but I did not make it clear in the background. Editing again now. Editing done
  3. He cannot control the hand while he is asleep, where did I miswrite that? When he is unconscious the hand would do nothing. Jack controls it, it has no mind of its own. Diminuative is fine, I will rework the stats. Ok on the speed, easier that way. I could not find anything in UP about speed drawbacks for smaller speed, so I went with the core book. But if it is a flat speed easier for me. I think I will drop the range though, a mile is too far. Check, no enemy drawback.
  4. I was also thinking of doing this character via a minion or summon ability, but decided to go this way.
  5. Ok, my character incorporating these points is up.
  6. Contour says, " It seems to me you are in more danger next to me, than elsewhere. Who knows when someone will come up to either prove themselves, or have a bit of fun. I can take an attack, hopefully more, but can you. No offense, but you might be safer further away. Contour seems sincere, but also seems to be spouting the party line, rather than something he really feels or thinks is true.
  7. Notes: A bit of a weird character, he is basically a normal police officer when his left hand is where it is supposed to be, but he can separate it and when it does, his hand becomes a very powerful highly mobile creature. He can see where is it going and retains the sense of touch as normal. The hand is imbued with powerful mystical force, making it far faster, tougher and more damaging than a hand should be. Concerns: The hand is a tiny creature(or so I decided) so I had to adjust toughness, grapple, strength and Att/Def bonuses to reflect that. I think I did it right.Edited for Diminuative The teleport is to call the hand back to its place on Jack's left wrist. That is all it can do. Anything the hand is holding is left behind. I think the cost of 2 is fine, but could probably drop it to one if I wanted to with a bit more limitation. The ESP and teleport have a range of a mile so that is his hand's effective range. Edited Range down to 100 feet. I applied a -1 limitation to all powers the hand possesses separate from Jack and bought all hand-only feats and skills at half price. I hope that is a sufficient limitation. I see Jack as still being on the right side of the law, but making a slide to the dark side in this game, which is why I labeled him a villain. HE might well work both sides of the street in his different personas though, and I do not see him as a bloodthirsty villain in any case, just greedy. Well, here goes. Players Name: Eyeonthemountain Power Level: PL6 Characters Name: Lefty Alternate Identity: Jack Richards Height: 6' Weight: 180 Hair: Black Eyes: Black Description: Jack is a big man, tall and broad, with quite a bit of the musculature he built as a high school linebacker. Dressed mostly in slacks and sports jackets, or his Freedom City PD uniform, he is an imposing figure. History: Jack is Freedom City born and bred. He was a wild young man, and ran with crowds on both sides of the line, but fortunately never got caught as a record would have stopped him form being a cop. Otherwise his younger years were pretty ordinary. Big and fairly strong, he was always a bit slow, so he only did high school football, as he failed the trials to get into college ball. He got through university pretty easily, majoring in criminal sciences, and after getting out, became a cop, just like his dad and grandfater. "Tin in the blood." they call it. On the job he was honest enough, and did a good job putting people who deserved it behind bars. A good enough job to get promoted to detective, a job he really enjoys. He enjoys the job, but sometimes seeingthe sea of money the criminals have he has been thinking of taking a taste..... But about two years ago, his life changed. He was tracking the murders of a few prostitutes in the southern part of Freedom, gathering clues and talking to people, until he got a line on some nutcase he was sure was responsible. Unfortunately the nutcase also had a line on him, and the hunter became the hunted. One night when Jack was 28, he was coming home after a long day at work, when the nutcase jumped out of an alley behind him, and attacked him with his mystical blade. It was a short fight. A slash across the stomach, a blocked nightstick, and a final blow that severed Jack's left hand just above the elbow, and Jack was down, bleeding to death in the street. Jack's last sight was his severed hand twitching its last several steps away..... Jack awoke in the hospital a week later, wire up to a dozen different machines and with tubes running into nearly every available vein in his body. He recovered after some months, nearly a year in fact, but the nutcase escaped. Jack was just happy to be healthy and whole, as when he woke up and started to recover, his left hand was back where it was supposed to be, and Jack assumed that it has been regenerated by some hero, surgically reattached, or he had just imagined losing it. He was just glad it was there. He recovered and went back to work, in his old job and he kept a close eye out for the nutcase, wanting to try him again, and shoot him full of holes. Legally or not. But one day three months ago, he woke up, and his hand WAS NOT THERE. It was just gone, and Jack freaked out. And when he came to again, it was there again, and Jack started to question his sanity. It happened again and again, the hand moving around his house, and even started doing odd jobs for him (controlled unconsciously) and Jack caught it moving and realized that he could actually control it. Over the next month, he learned to control the hand, and he was amazed at its speed and power. Two weeks ago, Jack was in pursuit of a drug dealer who had holed up in a warehouse, and for the first time Jack used the hand itself. Waiting outside, he detached his hand, almost throwing up in the process, and the hand was away, sneaking through the warehouse totally hidden until it came up on the dealer and grabbed him by the throat before the dealer even knew what hit it, The dealer pried at it and even tried to cut it, but to no avail. When he dealer was safely passed out, Jack came in and arrested the dealer, whose story was not believed. Since those early days, the hand has come under Jack's conscious control, and his unconscious no longer has control over it. He needs to control the hand actively, or it just remains in place. Jack has started to think of himself as lefty and his hand as Southpaw. And he is starting to think that he is entitled to a bit more of Freedom than he is getting thus far. 8. Question. Anatomic Separation is a continuous effect. If a body part is away from the rest of the body and the character turns off the power does the body part die elsewhere? Stay in position, but alive, or return to the hero's body? And a related question. If the body part is disabled/staggered/immobile away from the character, how can he/she get it back? A limited version of teleport? Or is there a summon object power that would work? I assume that even if the part is out of commission, the character can still put powers through it. I was thinking Teleport [Long-range only, Anchor (Back to where it should be on the character's body)] for a cost of one-half pp per rank
  9. Since Sammy's odd reaction to Contour's supers question, and his change of supers to heroes in contour's last question, Contour is wondering who this guy is. Is he someone who runs into supers a lot in his job, like someone who fixes up the damage they caue,or someone who runs from them .... Contour looks at the gallery, and imagines the sculptures inside he came here to see, but decides to talk to this odd guy a bit, aware someone might be feeling him out. He answers, "That sounds good. Sure you want to hang out with me? No telling when a super might show up to cause trouble.
  10. When the painting comes flying out of the gallery front door and directly at Contour, he tries to avoid (1d20+2=15) it as he traces the power back to its source and looks (1d20 5=13) to see who the super is who is doing this. Contour takes a closer look at this friendly guy near him and says, while he remembers his face, "You don't seem put off by someone coming in flying form the sky. Are Supers that common heree.?"
  11. It is up to the Ref of course, but TK is noticeable unless you have 2 Subtle power feats. One make is hard to notice (DC20 or by certain super sense powers only) and two makes it totally unnoticeable. I'm not sure how to handle to getting Contour to grab it part myself. I would not say bluff though, maybe just an attack to get it right where you want it. I know TK is perception, and the precise feat should help, but I'll leave it up to the Ref as I really don't know how to handle it within the rules.
  12. Ok, thanks for running this. Should be interesting.
  13. Contour does indeed gets something off the guy, maybe something hidden or evasive, but is not sure what he got, He is about to answer when the window breaks near him and .... OOC: I'll continue once things are cleared up a bit.
  14. OOC: This is your villainess, Neurologic, right? I'm guessing so, but you do not actually say it. For PBP, I find using 3rd person works a lot better, and starting the post with your character's name makes sure everyone knows who is there. Also, with no subtle on your TK, it's gonna be obvious to everyone who is doing this.......
  15. MBCE, you willing to handle this as a GM, or should we go for it alone?
  16. Contour looks at this friendly, (too friendly) guy carefully but probably does not get anything off him so he replies in a friendly way, "Heard this was the best city on earth. Wanted to see for myself.
  17. Invisible castle has been down for a few days and I want to do some official rolls. How should I do this? If it is listed somewhere, sorry for missing it.
  18. OOC: I would like to roll a sense motive against this guy (+1 total mod to roll) but Invisible castle is still down (for the last few days) How should I do the dice roll?
  19. OOC: More of Contour's introduction. Touring the art galleries. Feel free to drop in. Contour flies above the rooftops for a few seconds, slowly scanning the street signs and store names until he finds the Vincent Ars Art Gallery in his prestigious corner location on two major thoroughfares. Contour comes to the ground in front of anyone who may be present, and looks around at at anyone looking at him "My name is Contour, and I an new in town. Good to meet you all." He waits to see if anyone says anything.......
  20. Contour spent as little time as possible scouting a site, looking for a lower place that had several gullies/canyons/or jsut ow areas that he could use to fly to and from his base under teh radar, as it were. But it did not take long to find that, and then Contour was off to start exploring Freedom City. Lifting off, Contour headed up, to give Freedom City a look at him, and to get to know the area a bit better. Heading for Downtown:Midtown
  21. Just setting the scene for his arrival. If anyone wants to notice him coming i, please drop by, but remember his headquarters is nearly invisible, so it might not be easy to see he is dragging it along with him.... Really unsure how the concealment on a base works, I am assuming it is similar to the power of the same name, all sense except for touch.
  22. Contour came here a few weeks ago, flying in from the southwest, when he had decided to try and experience a new kind of life, a life of cities and other people and things. Lots and lots of things. First, there was the desert, full of things if you looked closely, but empty and sterile if you did not, but still teeming with life compared to the reaches of space that Contour had recently begun to love and explore as he could. But he was not ready for deep space, especially that between the stars, and he knew it. His powers were not mature enough, and he was not mentally mature enough either. So, he needed a place to grow, a place to test himself against others and to compare himself to toerhs, to speed his growth and maturity. And he had chosen Freedom City, arguably the best city on the planet, and much in the news recently, with all the activity going on here. It was where Contour wanted to be. So he came in low, flying merely s fast as a jet, dragging his headquarters along behind him, its weight negligable to one who could lift an entire bridge, or a skyscraper without too much effort. He came in quietly, trying to avoid houses and roads, looking for a good place to put his base, a place where it would not be stumbled upon or even noticed, hopefully.
