Bernadette reached up to the bridge of her nose as she let out a soft sigh at Baz's inadvertent sexual innuendo, which he seemed rather embarrassed about. At least, she thought it was inadvertent. But in any event, at least he was still trying to help get things set up for the night, so she was not about to give him a hard time about the slip ups or otherwise criticize him. Carmen on the other hand….

 

"I have a better idea Carmen, if you want a fire or food, you can stick around an’ help get that prepared, otherwise, don' expect us ta prepare stuff fer you." The redheaded Senior called out to the Junior. "Until we get ta where we are headed this isn' personal free time. Besides, based on the stories I have heard from others that have visited here over the years, it's not the local wildlife we really need ta be worried about, but stumblin' through a portal back through time."

 

The Irish teen then turned her attention back to Baz and Vueriz. "If we’re goin' ta start a fire, might be best ta do it closer ta the cave entrance." She commented. "That should hopefully help with allowin' the smoke ta not build up too much inside the cave."

 

She then looked at Baz with a faint grin. "An’ as appealin' as all that sounds, we were told ta bring food fer a reason, so maybe just start with preparin' the stuff we were provided?"

@Heritage Yeah, I would think so, as that will put you at failing by more than 10, which means you would become disabled (and thus no longer able to take part in the fight).

@TheAbsurdist Hey TA, while we wait to see what Moon is going to do, any thoughts for Jotunn? (again, the enemy are all currently up in the air over 350' away from the group).

While Madame Raven continued working on Wrack’s bindings, Giang moved slowly about the room, looking for anything that could be used to bind up Silk. As she went the Asian young woman explained her general idea.

 

"I have a rather simple idea for a distraction. When we are ready, I was thinking I can reach out and cause the water pressure to build up in the water pipes throughout the factory, causing them to burst and begin flooding the factory. That should at least get the attention of all the guards in the place." She stated, looking back over to Madame Raven. "Unless you have another thought."

@MoonSimply Moon, sorry for not being more clear above, not only are there no Omegadrones nearby where Puma currently is, where they are (which is more than 350' away), none are on the ground, all are up in the air (as they had believed they were fighting some giant).

So to answer questions discussed in Discord: yes, a singularity should show up as a MASSIVE blip in the time/space continuum. If it was in the city, there would be no more city, and likely no more planet, unless someone expended an extensive amount of energy to contain it (which would seem counter productive to wanting to use it as a power source, as you would spend a lot of the energy gained to contain it).

 

And in the realm of pure theory, if someone could harness the power of a singularity and use that to create an isolated timeline, there is no reason to expect they would not be able to do so from outside the isolated timeline (ie the singularity could be someplace completely different).

Okay, per Discord chat, no Secondary Effect or Distracting.

Everyone that looks toward the effect has a DC20 Reflex save to possibly look away and avoid.

 

Troopers (in groups of 10): 40 out of 150 manage to look away. DC 20 Will save for those 110: 40 make that, so 70 are Paralyzed.

 

Hounds: all but one make their Reflex checks, that one gets a 18 on its will save, so is Slowed.

 

Hunters; The three aimed at Artificers barrier and the one on Gaiain Knight are not looking toward the effect, so there are four effected: Reflex saves: 2 make their Reflex saves. Will Saves for other two: 10 and 18, one Paralyzed, one Slowed.

 

Boran Lts: All but the one currently dazed are possibly effected. Reflex saves: one makes it, so two Will saves: 13 and 12 both Paralyzed.  (my mistake, there are only 3 Boran Lts, so will go with both missing.

 

The minion Borans (save the one on Gaian Knight): just one makes that, so four Will saves: two make it, other two Paralyzed

Lawrence looked over to his friends as they all started interjecting and asking questions, Daedalus, Captain Thunder and Lady Liberty looking at the teens as well. "Of course I know where it is, I have been there several times." Lawrence replied to Michael. "It was in Kesteven 79 in our timeline, but I understand it moved around and was not there earlier during the Incursion, so it could be anywhere now. And yeah, I am afraid I have no idea about the code used in our timeline."

 

The blond teen looked over to Parker as he asked his questions, but before he could answer, Mizuki spoke up with something that drew Lawrence’s attention. He glanced over at Consuelo as she spoke up, but did not respond to her questions, instead focusing back on Mizuki. "An isolated time bubble? That….would explain a lot, including what is different here." He added, glancing back to Parker. "But to do that to this scale would take a tremendous amount of power….like what you could theoretically get from harnessing a singularity." He then continued, his expression becoming more concerned as he spoke.

 

"A singularity? What are you talking about?" Daedalus asked, given Lawrence a questioning look.

"Fake? What do you mean fake? I don't feel fake." The teenage version of Velocity asked, looking over at Consuelo.

 

Lawrence glanced over to Vueriz as she asked her questions, shaking his head. "I am afraid I don't know the details of either of those things. Either Daedalus did not know, or more likely, he simply never told me."

 

As the blond teen spoke, a massive star cruiser seemed to settled into position above the City Center as several smaller spacecraft took up higher positions above Freedom City. Amidst the rubble of the downed needle like ships, holographic projectors whirred to life, orienting themselves upward before spinning to life and generating the image of a figure hundreds of stories tall above the heart of Freedom City. "Salutations Daedalus, my bitter enemy." 

 

The armored League member looked up at the image above. "Star Khan." There was a hint of shock in the immortal inventor’s voice.

 

The figure had gaunt, grey-blue skin topped with a flowing mane of white hair and tapered ears, his coldly intelligent black eyes set above high cheekbones. He was dressed in a black sheathe and asymmetrical, chitinous armor that covered his torso and right shoulder. Partially translucent cables sloshing with a thick silver fluid sprouted form his throat, wrists and the base of his spine like parasitic growths. Pale yellow lines like circuit board patterns traced his pallid flesh, even stretching over the surface of his black eyes. His voice as deep and resonant, but with each word there was an almost imperceptible hesitation, as though he were somehow unused to such vocalizations. Michael could see a resemblance to the young Star Khan he had met only days earlier, although clearly much older and more gaunt.

 

"Long has Kinan Khan waited to see your arrogance cause your home world to fall to ruin," the hologram continued, spreading his hands as if surveying the plums of fire and smoke at his feet, "but I speak to you this day not as conqueror, but as herald for my new- -" the veins in Star Khan's neck stood out like cords and his eyes bulged but more fluid pumped through the tubes in his neck and the expression fade. "My new master. Know that the Communion has returned to claim is place as the dominant and only intelligence in creation. Your homes, your works, your bodies will be but raw materials for the Communion and in this you shall finally know purpose. Rebellion is meaningless. Surrender is unnecessary. You will commune."

 

As Star Khan finished, the assembled space craft began firing down on the city and dozens upon dozens of the needle like craft launched from the hovering starships, streaking down towards the city below.

Bernadette and the band waited a few moments for applause and cheers to die down from the first song before they began the next song.

 

It began with a steady, somewhat low key but catchy drum beat and guitar. When Bernadette began to sing, her voice had a “breathy,” melancholy tone.

 

Bought a bunch of makeup

Tryna cover up my faaace

I started to skip luuunch

Stopped eatin’ cake on birthdaaaayys

 

Bought a new prescriptionnnn

As she began to sing the chorus, Bernadette’s voice was more even, if still a bit melancholy, as her duplicates joined in for parts.

The tempo of the music and Bernadette’s singing then picked up for part of the song.

Her voice then returned to normal and she picked up the tempo once more.

Lawrence had been relieved to see the others emerge from the theater with an unconscious teenage girl whom he presumed to be Eclipse. He was more concerned that some of them appeared injured, particularly Mizuki. "Are you okay?" He asked her as he used his powers to heal his friends (and the unconscious Orion).

 

When the Starbright known as Kitty spoke up about Umbra Star and the need to protect it, the blond teen listened carefully, deep in thought. When she finished, he looked over to the others. "I can get Eclipse and FX over to Freedom Hall and have the Freedom League take them into custody and get that process started." He began before looking over at the large gem.

 

"As for the Star, magic is rather outside my area of expertise. The League can probably get Phantom involved, but she is often rather busy, and might be sometime before she can take a look at things. If we wanted to keep things 'in house' so to speak, I can call in a favor with my foster sister and she can probably arrange to have Veronica Danger drop by pretty quickly. She should at least be able to give us an idea of what it is we are dealing with here, and possibly help renew the spell hiding the Star from Sola."

Hovering in the air, Star Khan looked about the battlefield for a moment. The Hunter he had been engaged with was back up, but some distance behind the one currently engaged in melee with the rocky mercenary that had delt with Gor'an. Eclipse was engaging the troops approaching from the south, and to the northwest, the dropship had just loaded the unconscious Gor'an aboard.

 

Deciding the Hunter could wait for the moment, Star Khan turned slightly toward the dropship bringing both hands up as he fired a powerful blast of energy at the vessel. The blast struck the dropship, causing further damage to it, but still failing to cripple it. A scowl came over the young Khan's face as the dropship's engines began powering up to liftoff…

Star Khan will again turn his attention to the drop ship, full power attack getting a 14 to hit (which hits), DC 34 toughness save: 27, again with great rolls, so picks up another injured. 

Nope, and there is a recovery check normally, but bruises auto heal anyway (and your ranks in Healing would mean she would auto pass the check anyway). @Electra

As Gaian Knight's rock attack swept in hit and sent the large Boran in melee with Vor'an flying and momentarily dazing the large alien, the Justicar took a step back to reassess the situation as he remained near Artificer. Turning in the direction of two more charging Borans, the Zultasian leveled his power pike at one of them.

 

The weapon's end glowed with energy as a powerful beam shot out to strike the charging Boran dead center. The blast knocked the creature off its feet and sent it flying back dozen of feet, where it slammed into several troopers, knocking them all to the ground as well.

 

The Justicar then lifted his weapon back up into a ready stance as he prepares for the next threat to appear.
