  1. Rene is going to fire of a Stun at Carrefour 1d20+8=10 which is going to totally miss, but may home in next round. Nick up.
  2. GM The hands did their work, reaching out and grasping on to the long robes of Carreforre and his acolytes. Despite their own experience of the arcane, many of his cronies screamed with terror at the sight of the horrors that Nick had manifested before them. Most of them succumbed to the countless wiry limbs, which held them helpless and immobile. A few managed to fire of streams of black mystic darkness, one of which struck Rene on the shoulder. "Ouch!" he retorted with indignation, as his eyes momentarily folded in pain. Carrefour struggled against the poltergeist's rage that Nick had unleashed and gave Nick and evil glare. "Very good, very good. But let me go one better, muahahaha!" Raising his arms, he uttered some devilish words in a language neither Rene nor Nick could recognise, let alone understand. At his bidding, the earth erupted, and from the dust, the remains of two dozen or so corpses rose, dressed in the tattered remains of civil war uniforms and rotting equipment.

  5. Carrefour, for it was he, stopped chanting and gazed with hatred as the statuette started to wobble, vibrate, and some cracks appeared. He clutched at the ivory artwork with both hands and his eyes roamed around the circle. His ears seemed to follow. "Who dares! Who dares foul my moment of triumph! I felt the other one go, but there are enough souls stored to raise an army still! But someone is here and they dare try to wrest away my victory. With this, I will be greater than Samedi!" Rene looked at Nick "Well, monsieur, it seems the game is up!" he said, pulling back his hood. "And those souls are not yours for the taking, or the commanding. Souls belong only to themselves, not to some corrupted sorcerer who would put them in chains!" He gave Carrefour a feirce glare, equal to the Voodoo priests own.
  6. IN which case Ill treat this as moving into combat with the Nullify as a Suprise action. 1d20+10=28 Nullify fails unfortunately. INitiatives... CArrefour 1d20+0=8 Voodoo Apprentices [8] 1d20+1=12 Rene 1d20+2=4 Good lord!
  7. Just asking for clarification on what Nick is doing here? A direct nullification of the ritual? is it subtle? corrupting it? I could play it as a direct confrontation, or just subtly throwing a spanner in the ritual from the shadows, screwing it up so to speak. Also, the countering could either be just to make it fizzle out, or the "souls" could do some other effect like whizz around making everyone scared, inhabit corpses which do not follow everyones bidding, or even follow Nicks if he fancies an army of zombies... It depends a bit on your fluff and direction.
  8. 1d20+10=11 for LIfe Science. You fail Biology forever. 1d20+10=27 Much better. Freud for the win! Let me know if he has any insight and Ill post IC. By the way, nice touch with the eating!
  9. Supercape smiled. "Yes" he replied with confidence "Me!" he laughed. "Dragonfly does too of course. The difference is in the angle. I deal with it from a purely theoretical background. If you want complex maths about interdimensional theories, quantum mechanics, subatomic particles, wave-string theories, all that stuff, I am probably the person to see. If you want to build a machine to power a city, Dragonfly is your expert. " He paused. "Which, on reflection makes Dragonfly actually much more useful!" he smiled.
  10. Quentin almost burst out laughing. Instead he just smiled and chuckled. "Reminds me a lot of this!" he said with a flourish, as reached into his pocket and produced a cube of quantum material. It was a precise cube, semi-transparent, and floated in the air, completely oblivious to gravity. It has a crystal like quality to it. "Quantum material, produced by Supercape. Like your apple, if you examine it to carefully, it completely disappears!" He gazed at intently "So by just studying it, examining it, and working out exactly what it is, like a scientist..." *Poof* "It vanishes!"
  11. "Well" said Supercape as gently as he could. "It seems Miss Americana and you didn't..." he gazed upwards, put his hands behind his back and whistled slightly "...end on the most congenial of terms, shall we say. And I was under the impression you were most keen to meet her. So, I was wondering where yo would like to go from that position?" "Its not that the Lab isn't open for business, so to speak. It's just we aren't a business, and not business minded. And to be honest, the people here, well..." he shrugged. "We are, I guess, the reclusive eccentric scientist types. Out to change the world and do it behind a lab coat and a steel and glass laboratory that nobody can pry into hehe. Why, we even have anti-surveillance technology installed. " "We aren't out to offend, but I guess you have to take us as you see us - a bunch of stereotyped scientists. " He spread his hands out in a genuine show of civility.
  12. "Marvellous!" said Supercape, with a clap of his hands. Yes, she could probably make a nuclear bomb out of a cathode ray black and white TV set... He placed a hand on her shoulder in a friendly manner. "Ready?" he asked, without waiting for a reply. And two points in the space-time continuum of the multiverse became entangled. Supercape and Dragonfly passed through them. The Siberian weather was cold, in the low minus thirties. Snow lay on the ground a foot deep, and a more brisk breeze was present. Without good clothing, a man would die quickly. They were outside a logging plant, abandoned at this time of the night. Machinery, in the form of large heavy vehicles, transports and saws, lay about, alongside stacks of trunks. A few buildings also stood in the enclosure, which was enclosed with a rudimentary fence. SIberia was not heavily populated this far north, and crime was not common.
  13. "Fair enough. " answered Supercape, prodding an artificial hand. "Well, I wont keep you. Sterling job there by the way.." he pointed at the appliance. "Nice manicure. " he gave her a smile. "Don't let the chap vex you. The Lab is our sanctuary from interference, and is here to serve the world, like you said. It's been a great success, and more importantly..." He rubbed his hands together and his eyes twinkled. "Its full of lovely toys!" He hopped out of the room. He caught up with the Baron, and gave him a polite smile. Supercape didn't really stay angry with anyone for too long, with a few exceptions. And the Baron was not one of them. "Well... *ahem*... perhaps you might reconsider your...err... options and ummm.... direction?" he asked as politely as possible.
  14. "Maths?" exclaimed Quentin "In Magic?" he looked rather shocked. "Yes, to be honest, I am rather surprised. I had no idea! I thought it was just hocus pocus mumbo jumbo acadabra stuff. Clearly it took something special to use - and its beyond me - but I didn't know a mastery of maths was part of it. " He gave Etain a smile. "Perhaps there is hope for me yet, eh? although I doubt it. Most of my mind is taken up with...er...other stuff..I..er...do..." he coughed, remembering Marcus was unaware of his identity as Supercape.
  15. Supercape gratefully looked up at Giain Knight with a cheery salute and a heartfelt "Thanks!" before concentrating on the unstable molecules of his costume. Within a second, they started glowing with a blue green radiation. He had made a few modifications, and by bending his mind to the lattice of quantum instability in the costume, he could maintain a chain reaction, bathing his body in plasma that was harmless to him, but would certainly give any blob trying to ensnare him second thoughts. He swooped down to his felled assailant. He was not an expert fighter but he only needed to touch his opponent with the plasma, not put any force behind a blow - and his cape could swim and reform according to his whim, making him all the more dangerous.
  16. OK Supercape is changing his Array to the AP derived from his device/costume: Radiation Aura. Move Action swoop down Standard Action, Attack the Blobette that fell of him... which I imagine is stunned... 1d20+8=11 is not to good. Still, you never know, it might hit a flat footed stunned blobbette. If by some fluke it does hit, DC 20 Toughness save. More usefully, he now has the aura activated, so any blob / blobbette touching him has to make a DC 20 toughness save! If he hits, I imagine its an acid toughness save for SC: I cant remember the DC (20 I think?) EDIT: As per chat, Acid DC is indeed 20 1d20+14=23 which he makes. I forgot to givethe -1 penalty for bruise, which would be 22, but still a pass. Hmmm, that acid may make melee less attractive, oh well!
  17. Supercape gave Miss Americana a supportive look and coughed politely. "Fiery temper, eh?" he commented "Can't say I'm all too fond of that. The man needs to drink more tea, if you ask me. But then again, I'm not really a businessman. Or engineer. More of a philosopher, and I don't really wrap my head around the practicalities of industry. I leave that for greater - or lesser - minds than me" he gave her a wink. "What should we do with him now... send him to Ironclad?"
  18. Rene watched intently, fully expecting another manbeast to come crashing in, possibly the progenitor of the transformation... He couldn't have been more wrong. He had seem some frankly bizzare situations in over two centuries of life, but this had to be one the strangest. INto the clearing came a fully armoured medieval knight, in dirty steel full plate mail, shield, and sword, with a helm that covered only half his face. An alert, blue eyed and fanatical gaze shone forth from the steel helmet as the man crashed forth and took only a second to take in the situation. "Verily, another innocent to be slain! My duty if clear, by the holy powerth that bindeth me!" With a yell he jumped forward and took a swing at the illusionary Marcus. "Forsooth! To slay the Beast!"
  19. Heh my mistake, I meant to make it three hours fifty x minutes... *slaps head* EDITED. Because Dragonfly is so awesome, it comes in a few minutes under schedule!
  20. OK that sounds good to me. At this point Supercape will activate his "Supercape" device Alternate Power, a Strike 10 Aura, on the grappling blobette, and just let it burn on him!
  21. Rene shuffled up to Nick as they joined the circle. "Psst" he whispered catching his eye. "Its a nercomantic ritual, right? something about putting souls into bodies? I guess he is trying to ressurecte ze dead bodies here, from ze war?" A nearby cultist gave Rene a quizzical look and Rene was forced to pull his hood down fast and mumble some incantations. "We must try to sabotage the ritual!" Rene knew less than Nick on these matters, and knew it. He took Nick's lead, as he started to put in the odd discordant and erroneous word and tone. Effectively, he was throwing a mystical spanner in the mystical works.
  22. Damn that is a bad roll! however, even as its worst, its still 15 (with the +2 situational bonus) - Nick would know the basics - its a necromantic ritual of some power. His curiosity complication could certainly come into play here, if you want to role play something that puts him in some kind of disadvantage or peril.
  23. I could throw Rene into this if he is a fit - I'll let you decide on that, Granspear!
  24. Arcane Knowledge Roll 1d20+14=24 Not great, but Rene certainly knows its a necromantic Ritual that involves not summoning the dead, but releasing and commanding souls that have been stored in his statuette. The first statuette was the "sucker", this is the "release" counterpart. A skilled mage / necromancer who possessed the statuettes can also gain dominion / command over the souls that pass through them. Nick can have a go here, I'll give him +2 to the roll as his particular area of expertise is necromancy.
  25. Rene nodded excitedly. "And so, let us enter la gueule du loup*!" he said theatrically. In the Back rooms of "Dead Good" Rene and Nick entered the dingy, poorly lit, and in places, downright filthy rooms of Dead Good. It was a wonder the bar kept any rooms to rent at all, and it looked like it only did so to house the odd drunk who had lost his car keys (as opposed to the drunks who drove back home) or the even rarer drunks who fancied a passionate night in fuelled by alcohol. Certainly it would take a swig or two of booze to choose to rent a back room here. A cowled man passed them and looked them up and down. "Come quickly" he said, in what sounded like a deliberately low voice attempting to be more full of resonance and power than it probably was. "The master has chosen to proceed more quickly with the ceremony, given the fools party below. They shall be the first to suffer his wrath muahahaha!" He beckoned the two heroes outside, where a group of seven other cowled men stood around a central figure - a dark skinned man dressed in orange toga who clutched an ivory statuette and chanted words of obvious arcane power...
