  1. Blink felt unease, standing at the edge of the clearing. She wasn't sure if it was due to her own thoughts and moods, or something else. However, a very well defined survival sense taught her to never be unprepared. Her outlines faded as her body matched the coloring of the forest around her. The two guys in the middle of the clearing looked like they were sparring partners and had been in the process of greeting each other. One of them must have sensed something since he summoned up some kind of torch or burning blade. It was about then that she both saw and heard someone calling out to the pair; an odd figure approaching the clearing. Part of her was disappointed. A little excitement might just get her out of the funk she had been in. She had even been considering approaching the pair, they looked competent enough to offer a good workout. However, until she got a better handle on what was going on, and why she felt unsettled, she would stay put and observe from a distance.
  2. Did heroes lie? It was a question she pondered as Arrowhawk talked about safe houses and threats. Could she trust them not to turn over the two kids to the authorities? Then again, did she really have much of a choice? She didn't have the resources to keep the girl and little to no desire to play babysitter for the next five to ten years. Her reputation with the mob was already shot, and this would probably finish any career she had as a paid contractor. Was it all worth it? A glance back the scared couple told her that it likely was. She was always a sucker for the underdog. "Sounds like a fun time, I didn't much care for your father anyway Natasha. I'm in as long as you can keep those pointy sicks of yours aimed somewhere other than my backside."
  3. ----------- Nadia's Apartment ---------------------------- Nadia sat on the woven mat covering the rough planked floor of her apartment. Her legs were crossed in front of her and her posture was relaxed, in complete juxtaposition of the raging chaos that seethed inside her. A few weeks ago, she knew her place in both life and this city. She had 'employment' and a steady stream of high paying jobs that offered her the kind of excitement that she craved. Yet one bad decision... or good depending on which side of the fence you were on... removed all of that. Her employers now had a mark on her head, and there was an endless stream of brash young punks who would like nothing more than collect it. "Morality certainly has its price," she thought to herself while reflecting on the state of her life. As she settled back into her meditation, a harsh buzzing noise filled the small cramped space. It took her a long moment to recognize it for what it was; the doorbell. Reacting quickly, she sprang to her feet, convinced that no good could come to someone who had tracked her back to her home. He father would never give her away, and no one else knew the location. That left bounty hunters or cops, both a real threat to her current situation. The bell rang again, persistent and demanding. She could port away, and be gone before they could make it beyond the entrance hall. However, Nadia was not the sort of person who often ran. Instead, she pulled on a tight black tank top and moved quietly to the door. She wouldn't give them enough time to get their bearings, regardless of who was there. Grabbing the rusted metal handle, she closed her eyes for a moment, gathering herself for whatever lay beyond. Crouching on the balls of her feet, she pushed the door open and stepped out into the hall in one swift motion. "Good even..." a man spoke as the door opened. He paused looking at her curiously, shrugged and continued, "evening Mrs. Batalova. I have a delivery for you." "I didn't order anything," Nadia said, noticing that the man carried no obvious weapons. "Go away." "No, this isn't a sales pitch," the man said chuckling. "You know, certified mail? Couriers? Perhaps the dumbfounded look her face made him press a bit further, "You have a letter. I need you to take it and sign here please." Nadia frowned, trying to figure out what the angle on the letter was. Coming up with nothing, she signed the waiver and watched the overly cheerful courier head back down the hallway. In her hand was a medium sized manila envelope. What it was, or who had sent it was a complete mystery. One that was solved shortly after it was opened and the contents read. --------------- Brownstone House, West End ------------------------------------ She had been watching the place for several hours now. Beyond a few people coming and going there didn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary about it. She could still blink out of here. Be across town shortly and catch a bus to anywhere else. Her life could start over and this time she could do things right. There was no compelling reason to walk into this potential trap. Nothing other than her burning curiosity. The letter had spoken of a gathering of heroes, an outfit built to handle some of the crimes that plagued the city. More important, it offered steady pay and government backing. There had even been hints of cleaning her record up. All of which was quite appealing, which was why it was too good to be true. Yet somehow the letter's author had found her. Which meant that somewhere along the line she had gotten careless. The location was now compromised and she would not go back there any time soon. Given the alternatives, she needed to just head in there. Take the chance and gamble on the one in a million deal. Regardless, she wasn't doing herself any favors by siting outside on this cold October afternoon. Standing up, she smoothed her clothes and walked over to the brownstone. Knocking on the door, she hoped that it was legit.
  4. I just get really dramatic in the OOC thread... really... no? Ok moving it.
  5. An all out move is 4x movement pace right? So that's 400 yards a round. Still, that was what I was going to do. I also want to get her a snare so that's 1 point to AP it off the TP. Still, should be doable within a month or so.
  6. Well I think I am going to aim to get TP up to where I can get you all to where you need to be. However, that might be some time.
  7. I can take Grim with me. I'm also going to be upgrading my TP powers in the near future, so it'll be a bit more long distance-ish.
  8. Blink doesn't need much space. She's used to barracks type living and her current apartment is no great shakes. Roomies is fine if we go that route, although we can certainly have multiple brownstones together. Who says the upper part of the HQ has to just be one unit? It's not like we're going to have a reception area for people to be calling in on us... are we?
  9. Then we'll need some kind of cover story as to why seven college aged people are living in an expensive place on their own... with little to no visible means of support. Still I like the idea of the brownstone, although any of them will do.
  10. Wait a jet comes before a pool?! I mean where are the priorities?
  11. Sighs... ok dibs on Haniel. But no Angel costumes! I guess as a shape shifter, it doesn't really matter too much male or female does it?
  12. Hmmm, not that I object to the name... it's kind of cool. However, aren't all angels male? Edit: Oh and Blink is so not going to wear some cheesy wings as part of a costume!
  13. Looking over Grim, I think she's different enough that it won't cause too many problems what so ever. Sure, they both can alter their appearance, but after that, they go about everything else in radically different fashion.
  14. Cute and an altruist, Blink thought staring at Edge as he suggested heading over to the head of the mob and trying to work things out. Well, it took all kinds and someone had to be an optimist. "I don't think that will work so well... um..." she struggled for his name, then realizing that he hadn't introduced himself she just continued, "... the mob isn't the most reasonable group of people. They are very used to getting their own way all the time. I think staged deaths, or threat of massive retaliation is about your only bet. Arrowhawk has the right of it."
  15. I think we only have 6... but I wasn't in chat at all last night, so I could be mistaken.
  16. That would be fine with me, although I will leave it up to the folks who have more intellectual capital invested in getting the project off the ground. On the side of pardons, Blink should not need one at this point. She's done time (she was starting the game coming out of jail) and never had enough posting history to actually do anything bad. So unless he can have her record expunged (which might make a neat back story at some point) I think she's good from a legality standpoint. However, having the backing of a noted member in the community might go a long way from a PR standpoint for all of the ex-villains on the squad.
  17. As Blink moved to the noise, she became aware of others heading in the same direction. With the mob, and others, after her, discretion seemed to be prudent until she could find out who was following her. Or, she corrected herself, if someone was following her. Yet, for all that she tried to remain silent, her efforts were clumsy and worse, noisy. She chastised herself for letting her skills lapse so badly. If there was a tomorrow, she vowed to come back here and brush up on moving silently through the forest. As she moved, she came upon a clearing where someone had set up quite a rugged little camp. He was spending his time smashing his fists and shins into various wooden posts and contraptions. Frankly, she had never understood that method of fighting, water always beat stone, didn't it? Regardless, she kept herself at the edge of the clearing trying to discern how many others were coming and if they had noticed either the clearing, or Blink's own clumsy footsteps.
  18. Notice check for all of the converging heroes 1d20+8=14 An apparently bad stealth check to move quietly to the scene 1d20+15=16
  19. Third the motion that quote seconded and gizmo firsted. I got my comrades back!
  20. Wait is that before of after the "happily ever after part?"
  21. 1. The Interceptors 2. The Sentinals 3. The Underground
  22. Thank you! Here comes the stupid question... how do I give you a PP? I have 2...
  23. As for posting schedule, 25 a month is no problem for me. I am around a computer for the majority of any given day. The only exceptions to this are Satuday (soccer day) and sometimes Sunday (family day). Even on those days, I should be reasonably able to get at least a post in. Otherwise, multiple posts a day are not really an issue if needed.
