  1. Blink jumped back, obviously startled. However, her wits were still about her. It was pattently obvious that the diversion had failed miserably. Otherwise why would every hero in a ten block radius be camping at the very place she needed to work. Even more obvious was that her squad was not kitted out nor prepared to handle three of the cities defenders without a better plan. With a flitting glance at her floating team she knew it was time to cut losses and get some intel back to the man who had hired her. The goons would be sprung in a matter of hours, of that she was sure. As startled as she was, she kept the presence of mind to wave at Dark Star in a congenial manner. She longed to go on the offensive, but if she did, the opportunity would be lost. Even so, there was a certain appeal in a one on three battle. Of course there was less appeal in getting on the bad side of the Russian mafia. She didn't have to work hard to make her eyes go wide, although the startled innocent look took a bit of doing, "Dis.. disguise? Surrender? What... no, this is a costume. There's a costume party at the bar on the wharf. I heard the explosion and came running. I mean... what if someone was hurt? I wanted to help..." Then, allowing the faintest hint of a smile, "do you really think the costume is that good?"
  2. Rolled for concentration first, was told I didn't need it to make a bluff while shaken. If I do need it, I can look up the roll, it was a 10 or so. Things are going poorly, Bluff Attempt 1d20 +11 +4 -2 = 20 +11 from skill, +4 from attractive, -2 from shaken.
  3. Sounds good to me. Besides, who doesn't like a lounge lizard for an agent?
  4. It must be the cape... or the mask... or the floating people. I'm scarred (1d20 + 7 vs Will = 12)
  5. Who knows, I might make a good peace officer. See if I wasn't being a good peace officer, the peace would already be broken. Now to just escort these good citizens home! Can't we just all get along? Also, an etiquette question: Should I respond when people are talking to me, or wait until I come back up in the turn order?
  6. Blink: Is a child of Chernobyl and the failed Russian state. The young woman operates as a contract mercenary to satisfy her need for excitement, has done a variety of jobs around the city.
  7. Blink shook her head in frustration, of course this op was not going to go as planned. When did anything in this accursed city ever just go as planned? They hadn't even nabbed the girl and already there were heroes swarming the place. She frowned hearing the faint report of a distant explosion wondering who authorized that. The girl was supposed to be delivered unharmed and a bomb was hardly the right tool for that job. For a moment she wondered if this was some kind of odd double cross; it would be very like her countrymen to pull something like that. She didn't ponder long as years of training pushed her into action. "We're too slow. Looks like someone's trying to grab the girl before us. Move in, give resistance and fall back. Make sure to scatter when you do, I don't want one stinking do gooder to grab every one of you. Meet back at the destination after initial contact and try not to be aprehended. Move out," she whispered in the small radio that the Russian's had provided her and the team. "Oh and if I see anyone shooting at the girl, or trying another stunt like the bomb, I'll have your hide and leave the rest for the mob to play with." With a sigh, she stepped out of the alley and moved with a purposeful trot towards the car. Her officer's uniform and gear jangled and bobbed without the reassuring heavy presence of an AK or her standard gear. How did the police in this city ever get anything done?
  8. Ok post to follow in a moment. I am trying to be disguised as an officer of the law! (1d20+15=29)
  9. Ok this is a first thread for me, so if I do something wrong, let me know. Blink's Initative (1d20+10=27)
  10. Well I'll leave it up to you. However, it's the sort of thing I think that she would do well at. I'm guessing that she could make it pretty hard to actually pin something on her while doing what she's paid to do... keep the lovers apart. Besides, she's paid her debt to society for the moment... can't leave that going too long.
  11. Not sure if you are looking for Villianous mercenaries, but Blink has mob ties and would be more than happy to try and keep people apart for a price. I could see her working for one or the other families. However, since it's a hero thing, I could totally understand if that's not who/what you are looking for.
  12. Sorry for the slow reply, I was on vacation for a week enjoying some much needed R&R. Well here was my thoughts, let me know if they play into anything that would fit with you. Grant Corp has made a breakthrough while working on research on it's DNAscent process. They found a significantly more stable form of the popular street drug Max. While the drug is significantly more stable, it also is much more addictive, which works much better for a sustainable business model. Currently, they have kept this discovery under wraps, trying to find the best and most profitable method of using this new found discovery. However, the Labrynth has discovered what they are working on and does not wish to loose any of the drug trafficking that they currently control. Yet they also do not wish to act directly so have enticed one of the street gangs to hire out a team to break into one of Grant Corps labs to acquire a sample and to destroy any research. The gang knows of the Kitchen and is going through them to find the muscle to conduct the heist. While they don't care who lives or dies, they are not out for anything more than the research and a sample. That was my initial thought. Let me know if that works.
  13. Having reached the end of her finances, and needing to get some cash quick Blink is looking to head to the Kitchen (http://www.endlessflight.net/freedom/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=1327) to try and find a paying job. I am looking to start/get into a thread with someone either looking to join her, or stop her. I'm fairly open to ideas although she'd likely turn down wanton destruction for destruction's sake.
  14. It's a power that was in question and I just dropped it instead of working it out. I'll remove it :)
  15. Corrections made on the language and placed a blurb about her associations with her homeland.
  16. Should I corral one, or do they just sort of naturally migrate here?
  17. Is there something more that I need to do?
  18. Changes made. Elongation moved as an AP of Teleport, Fort and Will bumped, and 4 ranks of skills added.

    Boost and Fade?

I had sort of gathered that as this question languished with the stench of a rotting fish Beyond the mechanics, that's why I didn't submit the character at the time and threw up the post here asking if this sort of thing was reasonable. I kind of thought it would be the case, but you never know until you ask. Besides, I was still curious as I'll likely write up the character for a PnP game that I'll run. I'll probably have it as two very mild drains, one on fort and one on tough linked to a boost. Then tie all that back into making the array work. Thanks again guys.

    Boost and Fade?

Thanks Shane! That's the sort of info I was looking for. A while back I had written this character in a series of short stories. He was a hero who continuously exerted a drain around him. Items eventually crumbled and people generally got sick and felt fatigued. Short term stints were usually ok and if he concentrated he could limit the effects. He really disliked using his powers, because he knew what they did to people. However, in the stories he had to rise to the challenge of being a hero (which he did). So yeah, perhaps a fort drain, or a toughness drain if that's even possible. It shouldn't kill people at all, just make them kind of . That wasn't what I was looking for, Con just seemed the trait that modeled the effect (I wasn't aware of the 0 CON = dead). The advice is awesome, and most appreciated. Perhaps this character is not right for this setting, which is a shame, because I had fun writing him when I did. People liked what he did, but never really wanted him around for obvious reasons.

    Boost and Fade?

It is, but I am adding in a single rank of Nauseate, so I deconstructed the power, and made the linked power out of it. My questions were more of whether or not this would be something acceptable to the game or not... and then some of the implications of how they worked together.
  22. Well here is the discussion on this board: http://endlessflight.net/freedom/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=138 Although after looking it up after you pointed it out, I read that Steve Kenson mentioned that Attack Specialization was indeed an attack roll and subject to the caps. So I could add in the following power: Super Strength 8 (Limited 2 [Only applies to Grapple Checks]) [4] Which would net me the same bonus, and let her keep up with the Super Strength characters... let me know if that's legit. If it's not something you want, or feel that's it's bending the rules let me know and I'll go back to the drawing board. I have other ideas that I'd be just as happy working on. I'm still deciding if I'd call it enhanced training, or something like Teleport enhanced grappling... it kind of fits. Edit: I'll make the other changes when I hear on what you want with this. Edit 2: If I call it teleport enhanced grappling I could put it into the teleport power as an AP and leave me with 3 points which would probably bump Fort, Will, and 4 ranks of skills. I'd also bump it to Super Strength 10 (Limited 2 [Applies only to Grapple Checks]) which would give me a +30 Grapple which I think is the limit of PL x3. Edit 3: As for explaining why teleporting helps her grapple. Since the Grapple check is just to get a hold, she's blinking away from her opponents grasp into a position where she can use leverage to it's maximum advantage. When her opponent tries to respond to that, she blinks into the next spot where she can continue to apply the hold.
  23. Well I just dropped all of them and shuffled a few points around. Don't worry about finding a way. I'll just go with simpler powers and be fine with that, the character still works that way.

    Boost and Fade?

I was working on a PL6 hero and wondered how the following would all work out? Drain - Linked [23] LP1 - Boost 6 (Flaw: Personal, Feat: Slow Fade 1, Boost [Energy Array]) LP2 - Drain 6 (Extra: Area [burst]; Drawback: Noticeable, Drain [Con]) LP3 - Nauseate 1 (Extra: Area [burst], Feat: Progression Area 2) So the concept there is that the character is going to use this to actually power the rest of their stuff. Energy Redirection - Array 15 (Flaw: Fades [Recharge w/ Boost only]) [19] AP1 - Blast 5 (Penetrating) AP2 - Blast 6 (Burst, Uncontrolled) AP3 - Disintegration 3 AP4 - Healing 7 (Total, Personal, Persistent) AP5 - Leaping 5 First question, is that something reasonable (even if it's formatted wrong)? Second question, is slow fade 1 a no-no on the boost? Third question, can I put an uncontrolled power in an array? The character concept is that they need to pull energy from people all the time to survive. Yet they have to "digest" that energy and if it's not used, or they get too much, they can go boom without wanting too. I'd like them to be able to boom by choice too, so I am not sure how that would get modeled. Last Question, I assume that boost will not allow a power to go above the PL (with the exception of trade offs) Edit: Last last question: Since the fade is on the array I assume that means that every time I use a power, I loose a power point from all of the powers in the array. That's what I was aiming for. Should I have put fade on each of the powers instead? Thanks in advance, just thought I'd get a head start on the PL6 character seeing how long the PL10 one took me...
  25. Ok I did have a typo in there, I forgot to add in Extra: Affects Others. I was told I would need that to port people with me. I'll get that in there. I show it at 14 points + 2 for the AP's. I think that makes it work. What I was trying for on the Teleport, was one setting where she can blink around short distances, and another where it takes more than a round to blink and she can go longer distances. I thought an AP was the way to go, but I can see your point. Let me know how to handle that. The Drawback is the extra turn to use Drawback. Also let me know on the Sneak Attack. Hero Labs liked it, but that means little.
