  1. Here is my streetwise roll, let me know if it gets me anything I think I know a few spots 1d20+4 = 16
  2. "Someone was locking you in closet?" Blink said, not quite picking up on the sarcasm fast enough. However, she was somewhat pleased by Jill's reaction. It was like doing a little magic trick, something one of their guides had done for them way back. He had been able to pull flowers out of anything... of course they were poppies, but that was all that seemed to grow in that country anyway. However, Grim's follow up comment left her more perplexed. She never had really considered using her shifting powers for anything more than missions. It wasn't something that she had ever used in a game... or for that matter, in any of her scant few relationships. She almost cringed thinking of some of the requests that could come her way. "...perhaps keeping shape shifting low key is better thing, no?" It was Jack's interaction with his sister that interested her quite a bit. The young girl seemed dismissive of Jack's abilities which appeared to at least rub him the wrong way. She understood family and how they could get on each other and hoped that this was nothing more than simple sibling banter. With all seriousness she replied to Jack, "is fine. Will be saying nothing."
  3. I know I asked about this in chat... but then I realized that since I am home I could actually... you know... look it up in the books. Free Action: Concealment Move Action: Stealth (1/2 Move - 150 yards from TP should get me in range) Combat Action: Unarmed attack w/ Sneak Attack Stealth Roll: 1d20+15 = 30 Combat Roll: 1d20+10 = 24 DC 24 Toughness Note: I assume 1/2 move is 1/2 of any move action I take... or is that a normal move and not a move power? If not, remove the stealth check although I assume I'll still have a sneak attack from appearing behind and attacking. So there's very little difference in how it should play out. I came back into chat to check, but you all were gone :)
  4. Her original task had been to rescue the civilian's, but like all plans, this one was going to evaporate with enemy contact. She wasn't sure what the creatures were, only that she didn't like them one bit. Fighting mob goons and rebel soldiers was one thing, claws and teeth were another. She watched Velocity and All Star streak away to the twisted skyscraper just as the creatures began to batter the Interceptors vehicle. Even as Colt and Jack went to free the humans in the pen, she knew that someone was going to have to clear the path to the Maveric, or those poor souls would have no where to go. "...am not getting paid enough for this," she said mostly to herself before porting out of the vehicle to appear behind one of the creatures. Instantly her body was blending into the terrain as she hoped the creature would be taken by surprise as she launched a Parufusetta, whirling and spinning through the air to strike the beast with her tightly laced combat boots.
  5. I only found it though someone else's blog :)
  6. Nadia cocked her head sideways at Jill, trying to understand what the girl was asking. Then it occurred to her that Jack's younger sister wanted to know what heroic powers she had. It was an odd question since Nadia had spent most of her life not trying to be noticed. With the enthusiasm that she was being asked it even occurred to her that she might in fact even be a role model. That would be something... With a brief thought, she blinked right behind the young girl and shifted her looks to match Jack's sister. "Can be moving around very sneaky... is good for... well good for many jobs." She smiled and shifted back to her own looks. If she had been thinking, she wouldn't have had to work at a costume at all. Still, she was hesitant to use her powers frivolously and it would be a long time before she ever got used to the concept of just goofing around.
  7. Colt was from another world?! For a moment Nadia turned and stared at the cowboy turned Indian for a long moment with her mouth hanging slightly open. Frankly, she had just figured it was some kind of shtick, not a reality. That would be something worth keeping in mind as his perceptions what was right or not would be very different from the rest of the team. She was still staring at him when Jill responded to her, "Pictures would be nice, but knowing more from family is always..." she said looking back at Jack with a sly grin, "...good."
  8. Nadia had waved to both Jack and Kris as they walked in, admiring their costumes. The creativity of her team mates impressed her as did their sense of style, she almost wished she had gone to more effort on her simple costume. However, it had all seemed quite silly, dressing up like kids, at least until everyone started arriving. Now, she could almost see the fun in it. As Jack finished introducing them to his sister, Nadia replied, "is good to meet you, Jill. Will have to talk later." At some point she wanted to have a chat with Jack's sister. She was positive that Jill would be an excellent source of information... Nadia was still muddling that thought through when Kris walked by and quietly commented on her looks. She blushed, again wishing she had spent more time on the costume. While the comment was innocuous, it was the sort of thing that she had only shared with the soldiers she had worked with. Since coming to this country, that friendship and banter had been lacking as she rarely respected the people she had been working with. "Jeto - nastojashhij kompliment, pribyvajushhij ot smerti neposredstvenno," she replied with a hint of a smile. "Ja ne dumal, chto dela ploti kasalis' ego." ((Translations: "That is quite a compliment coming from death himself" "I didn't think matters of the flesh concerned him."))
  9. Nadia looked at the self admitted zombie. While she had worked with some odd characters, they had all at least been from the land of the living. His statement was so normal, and yet beyond the fact that it was delivered by a zombie, she was uncomfortable around people in general. However she paused and looked around at them, wondering why she was even here. "Am not being used to having people get to know me," she replied guardedly. Then responding to Leon, she said, "have done training, yes. More soft styles..."
  10. Must have been some kind of party, we're all like pathetically slow on inits...
  11. Nadia looked at the clock in her room, it was getting close to 7:00pm on Halloween. Unlike the residents of Freedom City, she hadn't grown up celebrating Halloween. It wasn't a Russian holiday even though she had heard that it had been gaining some popularity these days. During her years in this city, she had at least gone out of her way to make sure there was a well stocked bowl of candy available on the night. She had certainly liked the kids who showed up at her door dressed in their various outfits. Yet, even so, she hadn't ever embraced the holiday. When she had received the first invitation, her first instinct had been to ignore it. However, she had been trying to open up to her team mates, especially to make the kind of bonds that would be critical when situations got tense. So against her instincts, she was going to go to the party. Of course she'd be expected to come in a costume which she had pondered for the better part of the week. In the end, she decided to go simple. A red and white trimmed leotard with a hammer and sickle on the chest would pass as an Olympic gymnast. To complete the costume she pulled her hair back in pony tail and applied some decorational glitter to her face. With a sigh, she looked at herself in the mirror and tried to convince herself that this would be fun. It was a slightly apprehensive and dour gymnast that made her way up to the kitchen. It took her a moment to recognize Colt in his Indian guise along with Grim's amalgamation of zombie and catgirl. "Hello..." she said. "Is festivities already starting?"
  12. Whatever was happening here, Blink realized that she wasn't part of it. Things were far too weird for her at this point and it wasn't really her business. Although after watching Leon, there was something that was bugging her. "Look, I should be going..." she said to the assembled group. "Was nice to be meeting you." She started to back away, but as always, couldn't leave well enough alone, "Leon, right? Your technique is being very good. Yet your guard is low on your right side. Would be inviting strikes to face from a good opponent."
  13. Accepted Heritage's bait as that would make a very likely target for Blink at this point.
  14. Blink looked between Jack and Colt as they issuing orders. In spite of the soul crushing despair, she gave a wry smile at the swordsman; he was ordering people about as if he was their drill sergeant. It wasn't that she minded the orders all that much, however, she did wonder about the chain of command... or even if they had a chain of command. It was something that the soldier in her cried out for. However, this wasn't the time to discuss it and she didn't argue or fuss about her assigned task. "Very well. Will be getting as many peoples off building as I can. Will be getting those deep inside or trapped," she said calmly. Rescuing people? It wasn't quite what she had expected on her first trip out. Not that it was a problem, but she had guessed at some kind of battle with the mob, or some powered villain. This was going to be something new. Although looking at the precarious structure, there should be plenty of excitement to go around.
  15. Init roll: 1d20+10 = 14 Wha?
  16. Blink had remained quiet, watching the battle over her request unfold. She wasn't quite used to people yet and had let Colt do the bulk of the arguing. As Jack seemed to back off his initial stance somewhat, she felt she should clarify herself somewhat. "Sorry to be causing so much trouble, but am rarely using guns in city. Ak was gift from father... there weren't many dolls in Afghanistan and we had no space for toys. I was wanting to ask before bringing it in, because I will fire it in a range fairly often... it's comforting." It was hard to explain how something like that was one of her only connections to a life that was both more simple and often times more dangerous. However, it was her childhood and there were people and places that she remembered very fondly. She had worked as hard as any of the men in her fathers outfit and when he presented her with the AK, it was one of the proudest moments of her life. Barely a day had gone by where she had not religiously cleaned and maintained the old, but reliable, weapon. She tried to think of the last time she had fired it at someone, and guessed that it had been some time back in Russia. However, she wasn't about say so. There might be a time, and a mission, where judicious use of firepower was needed. She wasn't a person that was going to lie or make false promises so she kept silent, hoping the issue was done. Then she turned to Grim, "if we are looking to tackle the mob, I have some knowledge of people there..."
  17. It's ok by me, Blink isn't much for the party scene, but that should make things amusing in and of themselves.
  18. Nadia looked around at her new... team mates... and shook her head at the names proposed for their team. Honestly, she didn't care about the name one whit, as long as they could work effectively together. As for needs, as long as the money would let her father stay retired, then she needed little else. Certainly, the facilities were very nice, and would help with training and honing her skills. Looking at several of them, she wondered about sparring already, her burning desire to train and even more compete at a steady constant. "I do not care either way," she replied to Grim, "as long as cats do not interfere with the functioning of the base..." She began thinking of what she needed to bring from her apartment, and realized the list was painfully small, "though, as long as we are asking about items in base, I have AK-47 and some other small arms... I assume this is no problem as well?"
  19. "I suppose I did," Blink said without any trace of malice in her voice. She'd long ago learned to control her temper. Then as Dead Head went on to explain himself, Blink responded, "you are what you are... which is mostly what you do, not what you are. Besides, why would you care what others think of you?" As the situation defused, Blink had naturally relaxed a bit. No one here was going to clap her in irons, and she had to keep reminding herself that to her knowledge, there were no outstanding warrants for her arrest anyway.
  20. She looked at the neo-cowboy for a moment, gauging intent and honesty. Finding none, she nodded and returned a faint smile. Here was the new leaf. How and why it had come about was still somewhat of a mystery to her. Much like the other people in this room. However, it couldn't be all bad to actually do something positive for a change. She had never really liked many of her clients, but the market for someone with her skills and financial needs was rather limited. Looking at the six heroes, there was much to like with their diverse personalities. Even if they didn't seem to work or act like anything she had experienced before, they did seem mostly genuine. There was no real decision to make, in the end; for better or worse, she would tie her fate to this place and these people. "If that is the general consensus, then I too am in... and thank you Doctor. Thank you very much," Blink said as much to the room as to the Doctor himself. Opportunity often only knocks once, it's up to you to seize it. It was a saying her father had drilled into her from an early age. I'm grabbing it and riding it for what it is worth.
  21. Blink smiled at the banter, it was good to see where people's motivations were. She looked at All Star and said in a deadpan voice, "at least we won't have to worry about someone to talk to the media then. It would not be a task I would enjoy." There was still one other matter to consider as she looked back at the comical AI, "and what if at a later time, we find that this arrangement is no longer working for us? What then? I have been a part of a very exclusive club once and did not enjoy the experience as much as I thought I would."
  22. So this is our benefactor... and he is spending this kind of money for the good of the city. I suppose there are worse things to do with several million dollars. However, Nadia wasn't entirely convinced. Her world view had only just recently changed and she was still coming around to the concept of good for its own sake. She wondered if she was the only one with reservations or not. Either way, the pay was good and if the Doctor wanted to pay her to help little old ladies across the street, then so be it. Her honesty and loyalty had been unquestioned over the years. If these heroes were to be a team, she would try her hardest to both fit in and pull her own weight. "Herr Doctor," Blink said to the screen. "Thank you for this invitation. I assume Vince will fill in the details of this assignment? I want to make sure I am perfectly clear on both what is expected and what resources are available." It was as polite a method of asking about pay, room and board, and the other sundry details as she could phrase. While she didn't need much, she wasn't quite to the point of working for free. Perhaps in time.
  23. Sounds good. I'll also get some DC checks on Blink. I haven't quite decided on how prevalent her criminal background was. I might retcon her history a bit to be a little less flamboyant... especially since I haven't played her as such so far. Since I never really got in too many threads as a baddie, I hope that won't be much of a problem.
  24. The greater good... That was why she was here, wasn't it? Something like using your powers to help humanity, right the wrongs, and cure the ills. There were countless groups across the city that did just that; some of which she had run afoul of. So whomever had summoned her, and the other six heroes, wanted to form one of these super groups. However, for Nadia there was still a major question to ask. Turning towards the group by the MAVERIC, she directed her comments to them, "That is very good, but who is paying for this goodness? Do they determine what is good and just or do we? I guess I have found that good can often be judged by those that have the power to dictate it and do not wish to become someone's KGB."
  25. Only if you're not in your PJ's! ;)
