  1. Edge uses an Aid Another action (with his Attack of +10, he can't possibly miss) to give Wander +6 to hit Tech Guy on her action.
  2. "Team!" Edge yelled out loud. "Hit the button! Wander and I are taking this guy down, hard!" His injuries hurt, but the joy of imminent victory blotted out the burns he'd gotten from the exploding robot. He raised his wrist blasters and fired a beam of hard light at Tech Kid, the gadgeteer easily dodging the blasts but leaving himself terribly open for the counter-strike he was knew was coming from Wander. There were advantages to fighting alongside the most powerful brawler in Claremont. "Wander! He's open! Punch him out!"
  3. Jack was genuinely torn for a moment, weighing his feelings, Stesha's feelings, and Moira's feelings against the safety of everyone involved before succumbing to temptation. What the heck; life, even life-in-death, was about embracing new situations. Having resolved to do something human, Jack did a quick once-over to make sure Stesha was all right before joining Moira in the bedroom. "We'll have to be quiet," he warned her as he closed the door behind him, shutting off the light from the bedroom a moment before he turned off the lights inside. The night was young yet, especially if it was your favorite time of day.
  4. If Doc Samson has taught us anything, it's don't cut green hair if you're super-powered! I think you've got a good case for your moderate drawback. It would take some policing and use of the timeline to make sure you were getting the full cost value for it, but it could still work. (You're active enough that having the character impeded across contemporary threads would be more than feasible, and a serious impediment to boot!) I don't quite know how to model Weakness for straight Instant damage, though, the book isn't very specific in that area. You might have to adapt it to a check or bonus penalty. (Or even make it a little worse; being 'out of breath' all the time could easily hurt you enough to be a moderate drawback.)
  5. Why did I tell her my name again? Oh yeah, because sometimes she looks at me like that. Jack had initially been resistant to Moira's charms when they first met, years of living close to Melinda and Claudia had given him a natural resistance to an overwhelmingly pretty face. But now he did know Moira, and knew she was trustworthy, and hot, and...Hey, biting a goddess! There's a great idea! Visions of his head bursting into flames, then exploding, let him concentrate on the conversation as he said, "Huh, well, it sounds like you've got a pretty diverse group there. You've got your aerial support, your sneaky person, your flower girl, your powerhouse..." But who says you have to bite her? You don't do that _every_ time you're intimate with a lady. Only most of the time, actually. But it seemed like it would be different with Moira. Very different.
  6. "You're right," Marionette admitted. Looking down at the old woman in the bed, she folded her red-gloved hands open and shut, open and shut, the leather squeaking slightly. "Killing her would have made me feel a lot better, but it's pointless now. She's already dead. Her family would probably buy me a gold medal for saving them the trouble." She sighed, shaking her head, before focusing on Ace as the air around her seemed to crackle. "You're still alive, aren't you?" she asked Ace suddenly, her eyes glowing white. "Still alive, and still young, when everyone else is OLD AND DEAD!"
  7. "I'll do everything I can to make sure no one dies on my watch," agreed Jack quietly, his angry mood broken by the conciliations from his friends. He rubbed his eyes, looking profoundly fatigued. "My injuries will have healed completely by tomorrow night. I'll contact what allies I have then...and then fight Melinda." He looked down at himself, a look on his face that was hard to read. "I'll just go put some pants on," he said quietly, excusing himself to walk past Scarab and Dark Star into the living quarters. Feeling an unaccustomed, bone-deep fatigue, he changed into red and gold. What the heck; it was the Scarab's place; might as well wear her colors.
  8. When Scarab has finished passing along all that the various teams have learned about the menace in the other dimension, Avenger was the first to speak. "So we go there ourselves," he said, not really making a suggestion. "Need to get there, get the job done." He shot an inquiring look at Phantom, not wanting to come out and admit that he didn't actually know that much about how her powers worked. If not her, they'd probably have to jump into some crazy time vortex of Dr. Archeville's, and he wasn't really thrilled at letting the scientist get his hands on him. This is no time for bigotry. Not all German scientists are madmen. Admittedly, he couldn't think of any. Rachel and Ray Trask volunteered to open their minds to Scarab's mental probes as much as possible, but the mental blocks that someone (likely Arachnos) had put in place were very difficult to get around. They had solid recollections of the layout of Freedom City (a name it still bore, painfully enough) and how to enter the World Tower, but the layout and security inside wasn't something they could force themselves to remember. It would take a deeper probe for that. There was at least no sign of a deadly failsafe in their brains, a sign of either the enemy's capacity for mercy...or his arrogance.
  9. Hey Doc, is it time for you know who to show up with you know what?
  10. Well, you did say you spent the HP on your power-stunt in your original OOC post, Quote, so it looks like you're just at 2 HP and not-Fatigued. So you're probably OK. But I dunno, we're all just marking time here. :)
  11. You've been fatigued since alderwitch last posted initiative, old chum. But if you spent that HP, you did recover.
  12. Wander is neither stunned nor bruised. Edge is bruised. Breakdown is Bruisedx2 (sorry 'bout the robot, man! ) and Fatigued.
  13. (hat-on) Quote, to clarify, your Toughness is currently at +4. Yes, that means your Impervious too. (Since Impervious is an extra on your Toughness) (hat-off) With alder's horrible connection trouble this week, we may want to take it easy here for a bit. ;)
  14. Since it isn't Edge's power causing the damage itself, I'm comfortable with rolling Reflex and damage for him. Edge passes the Reflex save. Edge is bruised even so, ouch Edge spends an HP for Breakdown's Toughness save, just so no one else is hurt.
  15. What's "Whirling Dervish?" (as listed under her damage)
  16. "It's not a matter of seeing things my way." Jack paced the floor, his body hard and cold in the artificial light from above. In the uncompromising clarity of the overhead bulb in the infirmary, his resemblance to human faltered a little. "It's a matter of avoiding genocide, and a failed genocide at that. You think you can kill every vampire in Freedom City, Scarab? People have tried. The vampires of Freedom City survive because this isn't Las Vegas, or New York. Even the worst of them can keep their heads down. All you'd do is kill the young ones, the neonates who don't know any better. Meanwhile, the old ones, the ones who've forgotten everything but survival, or have psychic powers of their own, come out of hiding and the same cycle begins again. And again, and again, as it has since the first vampire hunters went into the catacombs underneath Buda." He looked flatly at Elena. "I'm not asking you to ignore the crimes vampires commit. I'm asking you to remember that being a vampire shouldn't be a crime."
  17. "Sometimes having an answer is the right solution to a question, Eddie, even if you're not sure what your answer is going to be." The rest of the questions were surprisingly low-key given all the action that had come before in the test, just the man and boy sitting around talking about ethics and superheroes. When they were done, Archer shook Eddie's hand with a firm grip. "Well, I think we're done here. Congratulations, Eddie. I look forward to working with you in the future." He smiled.
  18. "This summer has been unusually active," Summers admitted as he led the way inside the campus, walking past the plaque that read "Scientia Potentia Est," the Latin motto of the Claremont Academy for the Gifted. It was a bright, sunny day, the grounds full of students happily playing and enjoying themselves. Estelle caught sight of several superpowers in use, ranging from a happy, flying boy zooming overhead to an East Indian boy who reached up some thirty feet (by extending his arm) to catch a badly-thrown football. It was an idyllic scene, if you were into that sort of thing. He asked Estelle some surprisingly detailed questions about her work as they went, showing a keen interest in her scientific investigations. "So with all that done," he asked her as they reached the Jasmine Summers Administration Building, "what led you to shift your interests to secondary teaching?"
  19. Don't picture them teaming up. Don't picture them teaming up... He felt kind of bad reducing everything Moira was talking about to sex. He knew her well and respected her accomplishments. But it was hard not to think about sex when she was flirting with him. On the other hand, it's good to know I still care. It was reassuring to know that a beautiful woman could still move him, even if he wasn't moving to places that Moira might appreciate. He did his best to relax, at her suggestion, pushing the "frat-boy" images out of his mind as best he could. "Your own team, huh? Who with?"
  20. "Everyone's gotta eat and go to the bathroom. Even superheroes on patrol." Edge said to Eddie with a shrug. "And swinging around on a grappling line burns more calories than flying or jumping around." He dabbed at his mouth with a napkin, enjoying the delicious taste of his ethnic treat. It was loaded with calories, to be sure, but luckily he didn't need to worry about stuff like that. "That warehouse down the block, with the black roof? They don't lock their upper stories, so later we can swing in there and...Gah!" When the mysterious voice came from nowhere, Edge jumped as if he'd been hit by lightning, almost dropping his half-eaten sandwich before belatedly righting himself. "Hey, who said that?" He set his sandwich down carefully on its wrapper, looking around and seeing nothing at all.
