  1. Why not boost, possibly with total fade? I don't have my books in front of me at the moment so I can't give you an exact write up of the power.
  2. 1) The Norseman 2) Medea is knocking over a classical greek play at the university. The Norseman shows up and Captain Wonder follows. They possibly fight, each other as well with Medea. Other possible conflict depending on how the thread goes. 3) Captain Wonder 4) 2 In progress - Herid Fel
  3. Shazam and myself have worked up a topic to start in the near future. We need a GM to play Medea for us, probably knocking over a production of a classical Greek Play at the university. There'll be some combat more than likely. So who's up for 2 pantheistic champions going after Medea and possibly going at it? :D
  4. Ullgir is amazed that the creature yet stands, watching it as he prepares another attack. As his sword comes down the creature moves, though he can not tell if it is by accident or on purpose, his sword fails to connect.
  5. Ullgir nods slightly, picking the woman up gently in his arms. He brings her up off the ground so that one arm is supporting her back and the other is under her knees. Her hair moves behind his back as a single tendril points the direction that he needs to travel. "Hold tight, we move." They move quickly through the street, easily keeping up with traffic and moving faster when the need arises. He makes sure Estelle is secured well, as he is fairly sure that mortals in this time would not do well to fall at this speed. Following her directions they quickly make way to a building, which to Ullgirs' standards doesn't look very private. "If this is a house, why allow everyone to see inside?"
  6. That's right, I was. I forgot that it gives a +1 per 2 points over their defense to a maximum of +5. My mistake, I'll remember that. Thanks for pointing it out :D
  7. Ok, so that hit was a little harder than I was expecting. DC 37 toughness on that thug.
  8. The ground shakes under the Norsemans' feet, yet through the tremor the Viking was able to keep his footing. Smiling at the display of strength from the armored figure Ullgir brings his sword down in responce. The ferocity of the blows almost startles Ullgir himself. "It has been some time since my sword has seen battle, it gladdens me to see that still strikes true."
  9. I'm not going to be away, exactly, but my posts will be slowed down until I get used to my new work schedule. In addition to that, the computer at my residence is broken so I will only be able to post at my fiance's grandparents house, which won't be much of a problem as I'm there most of my free time anyway.
  10. Ullgir steps forward from around the vehicle in front of him. As he rounds the corner he sees one of the red skinned creatures standing there. His sword already drawn he begins to run forward, bringing it down on one of the monsters. "Foul creature, I'll end your terror this day." Initiative
  11. Ullgir chuckles at the display, noting the hair move as if the goddess Sif commanded it herself. The thought did amuse him however, and at first he believed it a joke. "I'm sorry. I actually could carry you, you know; swing all the way there with your legs kicking in the air...or do you fly like the gods yourself? I wouldn't want to slow you down." With the realization that her suggestion was not indeed a joke, he shook his head gently before looking to her. "Nay I do not fly, though even if the Gods had saw fit for me to move as a man I would feel dishonorable to allow a lady such as yourself to carry me. That said I would be honored if you would allow me to carry you, lest you feel safer moving by your own means." Ullgir puts his right hand out while pointing to the road with his left, looking out at traffic. There are numerous cars out, though traffic is not at bumper to bumper conditions. There is space enough for a man, or viking, with speed enough to run between them easily. "My eye needs only see the path before me, and you know the way to this house of steaks."
  12. Not a problem what so ever, I'm in no rush. :D

    The Norseman

The Centuries did Pass For centuries Ullgir stood by his people. All who held the Aesir in their heats, no matter what name their language had given them, would be protected by the Champion. His life as a hero started in Scandinavia as wars between clans arose. With his help many clans were able to put to rest their differences, some even bridging the gap between them and creating a larger, more protected society. This was to please the Champion, for the monsters in the wild waited not for a worthy opponent. Worthy opponents were what Ullgir found, more often than he would have liked. In these times Giants and Demons were setting up in the Norse world. He spent centuries culling their numbers down, protecting and securing early Viking settlements for the future. Numerous times Ullgir was badly wounded by these creatures of evil, as they did not fight honorably. Yet this seemed only to spur Ullgir further and to greater heights. Victory was not always meant for Ullgir though, and more than a handful of times did he fall in battle. Yet always he awoke in Valhalla, standing before his lords and ladies, and did rejoice with them for a week's period before returning to the world of the living. Upon his returning to Midgard, Odin's words always echo in his mind. Troubled times are ahead for Midgard Centuries passed as he moved through the world, stopping by to see those who worshiped the gods. His travels took him down through Scandinavia, through Germania, into the land of the Celts before finally resting in Iceland. Odin's words never left him though, and his sleep was troubled always by dreams of Ragnarok. These words would ring in his mind, always coming forward when times of danger where close. These words above all else brought a hint of doubt and fear when Omega came down on the lands.
  15. Ullgir looks to her and nods, a look of regret on his face. He continues forward as he talks, weary of his words. "My tongue has come before my brain, I did not mean for my words to cause disrespect. This technology has brought many advancements I am sure, and man has prospered here on Midgard for it. Yet as my eyes do look around me I see people riding in metal carts, vehicles I believe a man told me. They sit infront of electrical crystals that show them things. Man has become lazy, no longer do they walk to go somewhere, no longer do they work hard everyday, at least as a whole. If they do these things it is either because they are forced to, or they want to, and it doesn't seem very often. "It may well be, though my heart wishes not. It could very well have been the Invasion from Omega, but I think not. It was horrible to say the least, but not cataclysmic." He brings his right fist over his head, chest, and shoulders, making the form of a hammer over his upper body. "Whatever it may be, let us all be ready."
  16. Ullgir runs quickly behind the police cars, keeping back far enough as to not alarm them, yet letting him see their destination once they get close enough. The Vehicles turn a corner and as he follows he can see an unnatural fog standing, an eerie feeling crawling through his head. "Hel's demon's come in the fog this day, these who slay man and use their flesh for their skull caps." As the thought occurred in his mind the mist was blown away by a red skinned creature holding a club of some sort. Ullgir would love to move into combat but something in him makes him hold. "Something is not right here. I must make my actions strike true." He brings himself to a stop near a vehicle in the middle of the street, looking on at those that he can see from his vantage point. As he prepares himself for battle he sees one other dropping from the sky, clad in armor and standing at the creature with a pole. Ullgir smiles and speaks softly to himself, "Yet do my eyes deceive me, another of honor. This day brings more hope still." before pulling his sword from its' sheath and looking for a worthy opponent. [Force Field Active= 14 Toughness (9 Impervious & Reflective); Defense=12]
  17. Ullgir looked at the vehicles passing them on the street as well as the street lights and buildings around them. The last time he was active in the world the United States consisted of 6 states. Cars and street lights were nothing but a dream in a scientists head, if that at all. The last 20 years didn't bring much understanding to him, as his attention was focused on finding the stolen artifact. Had he known more about the technology he might have been able to find it. "Indeed the world has changed much from that which I knew. My eyes have seen over 1400 summers and winters here on Midgard. The world my heart had come to understand and care for ended with the coming of the gun. Gone are the days of magic here, lest ye be a mage or trained in the ways of the runes. Technology, as you called it, is the new ruler in these lands, and it has brought a dark cloud with it." He scoffed as a city bus passed by, looking at the people inside. He could feel a feeling of contempt rise up through his gut. His head shook slightly before exhaling. "I possess abilities similar to those of the Gods, granted by them for the purpose of protecting Midgard. I am hear to bring honor to my people and protect those who can not. Something is coming, Odin spoke of it, and I need to be here to help when it arrives."
  18. Isn't that almost 5000 miles across? [5 x 2.5 mil radius] / 5280 = 2367 miles in radius, 4734 miles across That's most of the country. or am I wrong?

And the Gods Intervened Ullgir did not arrive in Odin's hall of Valhalla as he had always imagined. Instead he awoke in a courtyard, the whole of Asgard around him in all its' glory. The buildings were all that he had hoped, far surpassing any city on earth in size and beauty. As he looked he could see that Asgard was populated by more than the Gods he knew from his fathers stories. The Norse Pantheon was large, at least larger than the 10 or 12 he had been taught. In addition to these were Einherjar, the chosen warriors who waited for to fight at Ragnarok. His exploration of Asgard was cut short, as the Gods came before him and bid him join them in a private chamber. As he followed he noticed that they were not unlike him in stature. He knew they far surpassed him in power, yet they were just like any other person in stature. The stories his father told portrayed them as 10 feet tall, and the realization of this fallacy made him more at peace here. This feeling would be brought into question as they entered the room. Ullgir was asked to sit with them at a long table as they spoke and ate. Odin looked at Ullgir and spoke with pride in his voice. "You have been chosen Ullgir, for a purpose beyond that which you believe to have been given. You are meant to be more than an Einherjar Ullgir, you are meant to be the Champion of the Aesir. Troubled times are ahead for Midgard, and we need you to be there. We give you this choice to make, become an Einherjar or become the Champion." Ullgir respond after a moment of thought. He knew that he could do good here, but if the Gods themselves believed he was needed on Midgard, who was he to argue. He made his decision, taking the path of the Champion. He was told that this was not an easy path to take, and like Odin who had to sacrifice his eye for greater wisdom, so would Ullgir have to make a sacrifice. To represent his willingness he too sacrificed his eye, proving his worth and gaining the ability to wield the power of gods. He was given 6 items of power from 6 different gods. The sacrifice of his eye was used with magic to grant him immortality and regenerative powers. With these abilities he became The Champion of the Aesir and sent back to Midgard to fulfill deads of honor and good.

    The Norseman

Origin: Before becoming The Champion The exact birth date of Ullgir Wulfsbane has long since been lost in the winds of time. In the time of his conception the Nordic folk did not write such frivolous things down. The runes, past down to them by the Gods themselves, were used to scry, predict the future, ask questions to the Gods or the Norns, or record important facts. The birth of a child was none of these occasions. Superstitions were abound in these times. When Ullgir was born he was branded as a half-giant, his size at birth already appalling. His mother, who had been weakened by numerous hours in labor, and father were ran out of town, knowing that if they did not leave their son would have no chance to prove his worth. For many nights they wandered before finding a location suitable for building a small home for themselves. There they stayed for many years. Ullgir grew up a happy life, tending the small field they had and raising what animals his parents could procure from neighboring villages. Though his life held him no hardships he was not permitted by his parents to leave their land. His father and mother raised him with love, telling him of stories long past. Among these were stories of his fathers exploits in war, which much to his happiness peaked Ullgir's interest much. At that moment Ullgir decided that when the time came, he would go to war and bring honor back to his family. Three more years passed before that opportunity came to him. As spring broke and summer drew close Ullgir took hold of his fathers bearded axe and left home, leaving on the journey that would change his life forever. Days passed as he walked toward the only town he knew of, the village of Skildfar. He hoped that once he entered he would be able to barter passage onto a ship for the summer only to find his plans dashed. Skildfar lay before him, a few buildings ablaze and their warriors fighting for their lives against warriors from two long ships. Ullgir took hold of his fathers axe and ran to battle, picking up a shield along the way from a dead warrior. The battle was long and hard, with many dead at Ullgir's hands. The day was not meant to be his though, as the Norns had already decided his fate on this world. With his final blow Ullgir brought his axe down on a warrior, leaving his back exposed. With a quick thrust Ullgir found himself looking down at a sword protruding from his abdomen. With his final breath he turned, yanking the sword from the warriors hand while still leaving it in his own body, and struck down his attacker. The battle was over and Skildfar was saved. Yet the boy they had shunned so long ago lay dead by their dock, trying to stumble his way toward a longship. The villagers thanked him that day, though his ears would never hear their praise. Ullgir Wulfsbane was no more, dead not 15 feet from his only desire. They placed him on a ship that day and set it ablaze with a funeral pyre, leaving nothing but a stone carved with runes on the beach.

    The Norseman

First Appearance as a Hero The medieval were simpler times, when a man took care of his family through farm and hunt, would go off to war in the summer, and if they were lucky come home to the loving arms of a wife. But even in these simple times there were dangers that a mere mortal could not understand. There were no supers in this time to take care of these dangers, at least not may to speak of. Instead the world was populated by Champions, mortals who, through one means or another, achieved great status in combat and sometimes received blessings from the various Gods. One of the greatest was known only as The Champion, for The Norseman was not always known as such. The tribes of the Norse people first saw him in the year 629. A group of 100 Nordic soldiers stood outside of a village before a battle. Their supplies and farms had been ransacked over the last 2 weeks, and as a final act of desperation waited for those responsible to come fight them. When the mist started rolling in their superstitions brought about some fear, but today was a day when superstitions came true. As the mist rolled closer they could hear the sound of creatures within it. They were drawing closer, and with every foot the mist closed in so did their deaths. When all seemed lost and they could feel the very breath of the monsters before there was a flash of light. Within moments they heard the sound of battle within the mist, though their eyes could not peer through it. No more than 2 minutes had passed when the sounds had ended. The mist began to roll away as fast as it had come in, leaving but a single figure standing before them. The man now known as the Norseman stood before them. The demons lay dead on the ground at his feet, turning to ash and floating away in the wind. He spoke to them and brought a calm to their village. "I am the Champion..." He said as the people walked out from behind the towns walls, "I now protect these lands." First Appearance in Freedom City TBC~ once A Very Unlikely Assembly concludes.

  24. Ullgir didn't know what a check or a wire-transfer was, but listening to Estelle he gathered it would be completely useless to him. Had he gotten to this place, he may well have lost a valuable heirloom. The fact that the woman before him has offered to help him raises his hopes. He has only met a few people in this city and the fact that it seems easy enough to make friends once he gets past the culture difference is a good sign. He smiles at this suggestion, as his stomach had been rumbling for some time now. The meal she spoke of, both in location and food suggested gladdened him. It had been quite a time indeed since he had enjoyed a meal with good company. "Long past are the times of my peoples, our civilization and culture scattered into the four winds. I tried to find what happened to the Folk when last I woke from my long slumber, but to no avail. It seems that I am the last of a dead breed. I know not what has happened, though in nothing else I know that my Gods have not fallen in my absence. This at least I take comfort in, as I have not missed the final battle. Indeed I am a Viking in your time, out of place and yet at home." He takes a pause to look around him. He looks up the buildings and down the street before returning his eye to the woman who, to him, seems to be somebody he can feel comfortable talking to. The woman who reminds him of the Goddess he saw once long ago. "This place is strange to me indeed, the structures all look the same, and the people dress themselves in a manner which seems to blend to my vision. I have been blessed by the Gods to have found a soul to help me in this, my time of confusion." Pausing again, he smiles. "You spoke of steak, I like mine cooked through, with some blood still in the middle."
  25. Ullgir knows not what is meant by "skinhead" but by the sound he could only assume they are monsters who use the flesh of man to make their skullcaps. Coupled with the realization that there are helpless civilians in the midst of combat the Norseman prepares himself for battle. Not knowing exactly where the location, he decides to follow the city guards to the location, using his speed to keep close behind the police vehicles until he reaches the location. "May the Gods allow me to partake in honorable battle this day!"
